Been using wifi at work, understand that recently they changed the config on the router to only broadcast N. Ever since my NC will scan, connect, then immediately disconnect. I am running CM7 on nightly #177. Been doing it with several previous nightlies. I have a Netgear WNR3500 at home that I have setup to broadcast both G and N, the NC always connects G at 54mbps. Is there some setting I can check or file I can modify that will let me modify wifi settings on the NC? Any help with the N connection would be great. Thanks.
Edit: Ok, I lowered my overclock from 1.1ghz to 800 and it connected without a problem. Seems the overclock is having issues. Have to play around with it a little and try and figure things out somemore. Please disregard.
I'm having the same problem. My school recently switched to an n network and now I can only get connected occasionally and the connection drops within a minute or two, even if I'm in the middle of uploading a file.
Long story short, I can only use the internet if I set my router to 802.11g only.
I have a new Nook Color that I couldn't get to register. I tried updating the firmware to 1.4.2, which didn't help. I ended up being able to register by setting my D-Link Dir-615 router to G-only. After registering, I installed [CM7.2-RC1] MiRaGe (04/16/2012), but still can only connect when the router is set to G-only. G&N and N-only won't work. I've tried everything I can think of, including resetting the router to factory defaults and turning off wifi security. I've never touched airplane mode nor the overclock settings on the NC. I've tried forgetting all wifi connections, turn off wifi, etc. many times. I have a media player (N) and laptop (G) that both work perfectly. Setting the router to G-only cripples the speed of file transfers to my media player, so I'd really like to find a better solution. If anyone has any ideas, I'd be very appreciative.
EDIT: To clarify, when the router is set to something other than G-only, the NC can still connect and gets full green bars, but no internet app will work. If I then set the router to G-only the wifi indicator on the NC will disappear for a second, then reappear and the internet works perfectly without me touching the NC. I don't have to turn off wifi or anything, just tap refresh on the browser.

My media player (802.11n) and my laptop (802.11g) both work no matter what mode the wireless is set to. My Nook Color would connect fine, full green bars on the display, but no internet. Setting the router to 802.11g-only mode would make the Nook Color work, but slow down my media player.
Solution: I put dd-wrt firmware on my router and the Nook Color works perfectly while the router is in G&N mode, and the file transfer speed to the media player is back up to where it was.
Afterthought: I really thought it was the Nook Color that had the issue. This problem (NC only working when the router is set to G-only) isn't uncommon on the Barnes & Noble support forum and the media player worked great at N speeds. I went through my router's settings multiple times, testing after each minor change. I don't know why the dd-wrt firmware made it work, I'm just glad it did.
The problem with 802.11n has been present from almost day 1. See
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959823&highlight=wifi
The sure fix as others have noted is to not use 802.11n. Good to know that dd-wrt fixes the problem - assuming you have a router that supports dd-wrt.

My WiFi on the Atrix crashed all my 3 routers (ActionTec/Dlink/Linksys), sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after several hours.
The routers needed restart after that. Also wired connections were affected.
I tried messing with static IPs and sleep mode, nothing worked!
Now I upgraded my Dlink DIR 655 from 1.11 to 1.33 (supposedly the best).
Things changed
Now my Atrix takes only itself down, the Dlink keeps working for other wireless and wired devices.
The Atrix says its connected and I get the icon with full bars, however no data is transferred. The market and other apps say network error.
I can switch connection over to my other WIfi network and all is good again.
Has anyone seen this behaviour?
Also is there an app that shows me the link mode G or N and the current link speed? I cant seem to find a good app. I would also like to see if I can lock the Atrix to G or N only. Is there such a toggle switch?
Thanks.
Update: Switched connection from Dlink to Linksys and it worked for about 30 minutes then the linkksys crashed (could not reconnect got no IP). Switched back to the Dlink, got connected, good signal but no data. Even after a phone reboot. So I think it might be still on the DLink side although I have Netflix (PS3 wireless) and another PC connecting fine. This and the VOIP mic problems (Skype etc...) bug me the most about the phone.
ive been having this same problem since i got my phone and im still having problems. its pissing me off. cant even use my netflix through the Wii to watch on the big screen
spacev and trapjawmusic, who is your internet provider? I have a POTS+DSL line + WRT54GS and never encountered this problem.

centurylink is my isp. i dont know if its my router that is just crappy or my cell phone is interrupting it while the wifi is on and im trying to browse causing the routers wifi to cut everything off thats on wifi
I have had a curious problem with my A500 and my D-Link wifi router for the past several days that I just figured out how to solve and I thought I would let the community know in case others are having a similar problem. The symptoms of the problem are this: the tablet connects just fine to the router, and shows a good connection, but most internet apps can't get any sites or pages to come up. They take a long time and then return errors. The Gmail app and Facebook app will still work but Browser, Books, Market, and other similar apps just say "Loading" forever without ever actually loading anything. When I opened up a terminal it would let me ping internet sites, but those same sites would fail to respond to Browser. Everything worked fine on all the other computers connected to the same router, and everything worked fine on the tablet on other wifi networks, but not this one.
I tried several things I read on forums about other tablets, including rebooting the router, dropping and re-adding the network from my tablet's list of networks, rebooting the tablet, disabling and re-enabling wifi on the tablet, enabling and then disabling airplane mode, and setting my router to only accept 802.11g or 802.11n but not 802.11ng connections. None of these fixed the problem.
The solution was this: I used my laptop to log into the router's settings page, and turned off a setting called "WI-FI PROTECTED SETUP". When I noticed that my router had WPS enabled, I first tried to use the feature on the A500 to connect via WPS with a PIN instead of with my WEP2 passphrase, but while connected this way it had the same problem as before. Once I turned WPS off on my router, everything worked perfectly from then on.
So it appears that A500 has a problem with WPS. It may only be with this model of router, a D-link DIR-615, or it may be with WPS-enabled routers generally, or some range in between, but if you have a similar problem where your wifi connection is strong yet pages fail to load in apps, try turning WPS off on the router.
D-LINK (DIR-655) here and I DO have the WPS enabled without the problems of surfing with my A500 ... But I don't connect the A500 through WPS though... just using the WEP key.
However ... I do think it is related to my screen wake issue... others might think differently ( no wake issue when hotspot through my phone carrier at all... only home wifi )
Just picked up my TF today, updated to 3.1
I have a main router at my house and two bridged repeaters (dd-wrt) sending the signal everywhere so I have coverage. Here is the strange issue:
I can connect via wifi just fine to my main router, but I can't to either repeater. The TF says I am connected, but the wifi symbols stays gray, and doesn't connect to the internet. Other devices connect fine to the routers, even my droid 2 global has no issues.
Anyone else experiencing anything like this? Strangest wifi bug I've ever experienced, i'm stumped.
I've tried the following:
Channel Changes
Open security
Router Reboots
Any advice would be appreciated!!!
just tried connecting to my dd-wrt for the first time reading your post, and it worked fine... I am running prime 1.4 if that happens to have anything to do with it.
Have you tried static IP on your TF?

A repeater? Or direct router?
I have tried static ip, no avail.
I also have an annoying wifi issue as well. When my transformer comes out of sleep it seems to be connected to the wifi but I can't surf the net. I need to turn-off wifi and turn it back on to make it properly work.
Using Prime ROM v1.4 and the wifi uses WPA.
I should have also mentioned, that despite being "connected" I still cannot visit the router gui via the TF's browser...

+1... I am annoyed with this as well...
mine is a bridge, with it's own ssid
still can't figure it out
I'm considering flashing to prime 1.4 to see if that will help. does anyone know if there are different wifi drivers on prime 1.4 vs stock 3.1?
thx
Have you tried flashing the latest firmware to you repeaters?

Same issue was happening to me on stock rom. I changed WiFi disconnect policy from "Never when plugged in" to "Never". The issue is now gone but battery goes a little quicker now...
Do you know if you have an access list setup on your router? Your access list maybe bllocking your tf from connecting
The first thing I would do in your case, OP, is to disable all security, mac filtering, passwords, etc and see if the Asus will connect or not.
I'm using Prime 1.4 and have no problems connecting to my wifi network using WPA2.
I have...
(1) - Verizon Fios - Main router - no wireless broadcast - DHCP on
(2) - Linksys E2000 - DD-WRT - wired ethernet to main router - broadcasting SSID - DHCP off
(3) - Linksys E2000 - DD-WRT - wired ethernet to main router - broadcasting SSID - DHCP off
Unfortunately, I'm not doing the wireless bridge repeater mode but I haven't noticed anything particularly different about the Asus's wifi.
My wifi is always on, I don't use any of the battery saving modes.
figured it out
After trying a bunch of various resets and google searches, it turns out that the only way for me to connect to a bridged router is by using static ip's and making sure the dns was set to find my main AP.
Its strange that i would have to go through so much manual setup, when all other devices work just fine.
Hi
I've had a search in the forums but haven't seen any other posts re. this but wondered if anyone had any ideas?!
Basically I'm having problems connecting to some networks with my Tab 10.1 (stock, updated OTA to the latest TouchWiz UX last week).
I first had a problem last week when I took the device into work - there's an 802.1x EAP network there but it wouldn't even show up in the network list. My SGS2 connects to it without an issue.
Then when I got home tonight (after happily using it at my parents' house during the day) I found it wouldn't connect to my home WiFi (hidden SSID, WPA2). It had connected to this network fine in the past, but now was just sitting showing it as 'not in range' network. At first I thought it might be a router issue (it used to be a little flaky), but then I saw that my iPod and SGS2 were both connecting and working on it without a hitch.
I couldn't see the network at all in WiFi Analyzer (similarly to at work), although it was showing my neighbours' WiFi networks fine. I tried deleting the saved entry and telling the router to broadcast the SSID but it still wouldn't work.
I then put on my WiFi hotspot on my SGS2 (also a previously remembered connection) and it worked absolutely fine!
Does anyone have any ideas where to go next apart from doing a full reset? (which although not the end of the world would be quite a pain).
Thanks for any suggestions/tips!
OK, bit the bullet and restore my device to factory settings - it STILL can't see my home WiFi, despite my SGS2, laptop and iPod all connecting to it fine. It is however showing up two networks belonging to neighbours and also my SGS2 if I put it in WiFi hotspot mode!
Any suggestions folks??
Sounds like a route issue, did you reboot the router? Is the router on a channel below 12?
Hi thanks for the reply!
I actually just spotted a post at http://www.thegalaxytabforum.com/index.php?/topic/5511-my-wifi-no-longer-works/ with the same issue.
It looks like Samsung have mucked something up when they made the Touchwiz UX update - it now blocks WiFi channels 12 upwards, when the old stock Honeycomb firmware didn't do this. I'd moved my router onto 13 to reduce congestion and I guess the work one must be on 12/13 too.
I can see from the table at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels that 12/13 are only allowed under low-power conditions in the USA, but this isn't the case elsewhere so they shouldn't have locked it down outside of the USA.
This also happend to me

As I had setup an additional router in my house (with assigned a high numbered -or so i thought- fixed IP address) for some reason my main router tryied unseccesfully to assign the same IP to my SGT as the router. This had obviously conflicts and could not log in.
Went into the router eliminated the fixed IP address and voilá! it got working again, all IP a dinamic!!
Regards
I don't know if the good post but I've got WIFI problem on my tablet Polaroid MID 9748 Android 4.2.2 kernel 3.0.36, CPU RK3188
Tell me if I've been moderated.
For example, when I switch from an application to the other as my browser to google play. Then I've to switch my tablet in plane mode in and out for refreshing the WIFI connection for connecting back. The wifi bars are showing me that I'm connecting all the time, but my browser can download any page.
I don't know where this problem is coming from because I'dont have any problem for watching streaming also the wifi card should work fine.
Could be MTU problem? How to check?
Thank for advise
Have you tried to reboot your access point in first place? MTU should be 1500 as default.
Does is happen with other devices ie. laptop?
Hi Ollve,
My laptop has never been disconnected from WiFi. Only my tablet is. I setted a fix IP address for my tablet in my access point. I installed WiFi fixed. This app found when I m disconnected but it didn't restore the connection well. So I've to do it manually.
In hoping may help
Thank for your support.
