[Q] Question regarding the Display - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Is the Display superior than whats on the Asus Transformer? I was disappointed with the Xoom and after getting the Transformer , the display was far superior. Ive only had the Transformer for 2 weeks and love it.. except my original choice was the Samsung 10.1. Has anyone seen both? or have any info regarding the display used on the Samsung? Every time i read reviews, they say the display isnt anything special but comments i read say it is. Its a mixed bag of info.
if i wait till when there out in stores, my return time would expire. Any opinions or info?

My ISSUES
1. I have light bleed and 000000000000000.1 dead pixel on my,which doesnt really border me.
2.My wife said is too wide.

if you don't need the keyboard, and don't mind not having stock honeycomb and being at samsungs mercy for updates, then go for the GTab.
Do what works for you and fits your needs best. Its personal depending on what you want/need. I'm not sure how forum members can help make the decision for you.

Hmm, if Galaxy Tab 10.1 also has Tegra 2, then I might be slightly more interested in the Transformer due to its keyboard dock, USB and HDMI. But again, my heart is already sold out for the 10.1's PLS display. So, its a still tough choice for me
What is the difference between IPS and PLS?
Because the transformer IPS look good.

1. Do you know that light bleed is more common than you think, right? even my iPad 2 (as test) have an awesome screen with light bleed. What if the Galaxy Tab also have light bleed?
2. I agree, it's very wide, even wider than Xoom. At least for me this is not a problem, is still very portable and light as iPad 1.

I really like both tablets and initially I was leaning towards the GT10.1. But I flipped over to the Transformer because of how well the keyboard dock works. The keyboard, touch pad, USB ports, extra SD slot, the Transformer becomes a netbook when you need it.
Second thing that swayed me to ASUS was Samsung's reputation for being very slow with updates. The GT10.1 starts out with vanilla Honeycomb, but eventually it'll get TouchWiz'ed and I imagine this will create big delays with Android updates in the future. The Transformer has only light changes and hopefully Android updates will be more timely.
Getting those Android updates as quickly as possible are important considering how new this Android tablet OS is.
What I still like about the GT10.1 though is how light it is. I like it's look and style more as well.
The PLS display sounds nice and is in the GT10.1's favor. But I get the impression it may not be much of a difference between it an IPS. Viewing angles are suppose to be a little better.
I have 11 days to decide to keep the Transformer. But I think I will. Being $100 cheaper also helps the Transformer too.
+ nicer sexier form factor
- skinned ui (touch wiz)
- Samsung updates = fail
Edit: after looking at the Samsung tab, it looks like a keyboard dock could be very possible since it's got a dock port in the same location as the Asus. However the Asus was specifically designed with a wide bezel to allow for a decent sized keyboard.
I think to actually have a dock like the Transformer, a tablet needs the locking slots alongside the port to keep the screen in place, especially when the combo is closed. So it's not likely something any of the upcoming tablets have as an option, unless I'm missing something.

wow that girl is really cute!
if you need the keyboard then stick to the transformer. I hate samsung and their lack of updates. I own a galaxy tab and though I love it so much, I cant stand Samsung. for me, its a no brainer, i need the keyboard for typing papers, notes and things of that sort. I dont really have a laptop anymore since i gave my macbook pro to my mom so i use tablets instead. everyone is raving about the asus display so i am sure it will be fine and i dont really care about PLS right now. but....
i havent actually touched one so i dont really know how its gonna feel in my hands since it is wider than most tablets. i think its worth the tradeoff since you can dock it and have an almost full-sized keyboard.
I don't think the keyboard is a big factor for me, i don't need it.

If you won't be using a keyboard dock. Then I think things lean more towards the Galaxy Tab because of it's lighter weight, PLS display, thinness, and style.
And Touch Wiz UX does look like it has some nice points to it. Just pray Samsung can can do better with tablet updates than it has with phone updates.
I'd probably go with the Galaxy Tab if you are not interested in the Transformers keyboard dock. And can survive waiting another 5 or 6 weeks.
Dunno why you guys are dissing Samsung over updates. There have been at least over 6 updates for the Galaxy S, disregarding regions. They were also the first to release Gingerbread to non-Google mobile phones.

[Q] Galaxy Tab 10.1 vs Asus Transformer

I currently own the Asus Transformer 16gb model. Is there anyone here who has opted for the Tab after using/owning the Transformer? If so what are your thoughts?
I feel the Transformer screen isn't very sensitive and feel i have to press pretty hard sometimes. Is the Tab any better?
Also I feel the Tab may have more of development community.
thanks!

This is a question for the general area really, but we are also very nice here in the SGT10.1 threads, so I will also answer your question. Touchscreen is awesome in responsiveness in my opinion, and I like it a lot more than the transformer. Also, the devs we have here, a couple so far, have been working on other devices, like my Captivate, and they are all top notch. Lots of breakthroughs in the last 3 days and we are awaiting a brand new kernel which will make this thing fly

Yeah sorry to throw it in DEV but I figured it included questions regarding ROMs and such My bad.
I can still return the Transformer to Amazon and get the Tab but I want to make sure it's worth keeping. Have they fixed the lag issues and such with the 3.1 update?
I don't own a transformer but the tab is amazing. The screen is amazing. And the dev support is already pretty heavy after only a fee days. The update for touchwiz also looks neat. If ur happy with stock honeycomb I think there is an option but its always good to have more then one choice.

I owned a transformer for a week and returned it. I never regret a bit since I got the Galaxy tab 10.1 on the national launch date.
Reasons:
1. Build quality (big big difference)
2. GPS reception
3. Speaker quality
4. Display quality
5. Style (big difference)
To me these 5 reasons are well worthy to throw in an extra $100 and give up micro sd slot plus the mini HDMI slot.

This is my list too. I owned it for about 2 weeks and returned it as well. I am not looking back. The speakers on the transformer suck compared to the 10.1. Display's are both good, but the TF has horrible light bleed, build quality is awesome. This will be the first device I've purchased in a long time that will not need to be exchanged or returned.
+1
Same for me, sold my Transformer the day the Sammy came out .... my only gripe is the damned typing lag on ANY website. This seems to be a Honeycomb issue because both the ASUS and the Samsung have it. Qualitywise (build) the Sammy is far far better.
However I can also understand why the Apple folks love their iPads. I played with one today at the mall and the scroll speed flipping between screens is untouchable by any android device and the 3rd party hardware available everywhere from Walmart to Brookstone is endless. You'll never see that happen to android because there are just too many incarnations. Problem is I hate "square" screens, they are so 90's. If the iPad had the same widescreen form factor as the Android devices I might have had to make a tough decision.

I like them both
I own both devices and I love the tab so much that it is hard to put it down. The transformer get little attention now and will probably get sold, but I like it as well.
The colors and brightness on the tab are much better. I keep my brightness at about 30% and it is as bright as the transformer at 70%. Blues on the transformer are a little gray compared. The IPS display is great, but the view angles on the tab are still good.
The weight, thickness and build quality. The edges are smooth and feels nice in the hand. The transformer have sharp edges and tend to hurt after a while and is also a little heavier.
Sound quality is better and overall screen response is better
3.1 is smoother on the tab. I think Asus could have put a little more effort in 3.1 before releasing it. It seem they spent more time in adding the eye candy over performance.
I do like having the HDMI and microSD ports but in relity I never really used anything but the MicroSD slot, so I can live without them. I use online storage for my music file so the extra storage is no big deal. I don't need to keep tons of movies on the device and don't plan on using it as a media server for my home. It will be used to entertain me while away from home.
There a two apps on the transformer that I wished I had on the tab - MyLibrary and (MyCloud that include SplashTop - currently does not work on the tab).
The tab is about 1/2" shorter, but I think Asus added the extra length so that it matches with the dock.
The carmers - I am not planning on using the device to take photos or make movies, so the quality is no big deal for me.

Switching from the Samsung keyboard to the stock android keyboard fixed alot of the lag. Switching to the dolphin HD browser fixed almost the rest of the lag. An overclocked kernel should take care of the rest.
I have to agree with everyone else here. Returned my Transformer and Dock for the Galaxy Tab. The weight alone sold me. But the camera quality and the display quality sealed it. You will not regret exchanging the Asus for this one.

GT10.1 > Transformer > iPad 2 > Xoom (We all know it).
I returned my Transformer after a little over a week of having it and ordered the Tab 10.1. I have absolutely no regrets at all. The Transformer had light leak issues on 5 places on the screen, 0 with the Tab. The rounded corners on the Tab are much nicer than the sharp squared corners on the Transformer. The tab weighs less, and is thinner which makes it feel much better in the hand. The flash on the camera is nice, and having vibrate functionality is very nice when typing and getting alerts. The overall build quality seems nicer, so I really don't think you would regret returning your Transformer and going with a Tab 10.1.
I've done some reseaerch about all these tablets and yes the build quality on the Transformer laging a bit. I have one. The reason I went with the transformer is the micro sd and keyboard. Second reason, samsung lags on updates!!!!!. I have a captivate, have been running Andromeda3 since samsung doesn't update. Anyway, my screen seems really sensitive, I barely touch the screen and it registers. Yes speakers suck but other than that the transformer is very good, battery life is amazing, dock is nice. I don't have any light leaks either. I was this forum to check out rom dev. Compared to transformer one. One more note. If you want an Ipad get one not a clone

I think that this thread has been tolerated as the development is just now stepping up. However, whether you are joking or not, its comments like yours that just make people mad.
Samsung lags in there updates? This we know. That's why we are here, hovering in the dev section, waiting for these awesome guys to work their magic and unlock the full potential of these devices.
Everyone here is open to comments from helpful users trying to help better the development community and make it a great place to learn and play with our toys. Your comment, and all of its opinions, need to be in the Section market "General" as it does not pertain to the Android development on the SGT10.1 platform.
I have a 10.1v and a friend has a Transformer...
The 10.1v bezel is much slimmer than the Transformer and easily to carry.
It is way lighter too, and it is very significant.
Only plus that the Transformer's screen looks sharper and brighter... at least to me.
I went from the TF to the GT and haven't looked back since. I also sold my iPad and haven missed it since getting the GT.
Basically, what it came down to is... If you already have a laptop or a netbook, get the GT. Otherwise, stick with the TF. Period!
Sent from my beloved HTC EVO 4G.
I had two Transformers, each for a couple weeks at a time. Now I've had my Galaxy Tab 10.1 for almost a week.
I think the ASUS Transformer is extremely competitive against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it was an agonizing decision between the two. They have very different strengths and weakness.
What I love about the Transformer is it's low price, the micro SD and mini HDMI ports, and keyboard dock that turns a tablet into a netbook. But the Transformer has very poor speakers and the bezel is extra wide and has corners, the tablet is somewhat uncomfortable in portrait mode.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is super light, great rounded bezel, just absolutely wonderful to hold. PLS display has great colors. But no micro SD, the accessories are very expensive and suck big compared to the ASUS keyboard dock. You'll spend $150 on the Samsung keyboard dock and adapters and still get much less functionality than with the same priced ASUS keyboard dock.
I know I'll need more than 16GB of storage. With the Transformer I was able to spend $400 for the 16GB model and use the 16GB micro SD card I already owned (you can get them on Amazon for $18-25). Lack of micro SD means I had to buy the $600 Galaxy Tab 10.1.
So why did I think the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was worth spending $200 more on? I mostly consume content with my tablet, watch videos, surf the web, read ebooks and mangas. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a pure tablet, it's light and very comfortable and has a great colorful display.
The Transformer is awesome because it can be a netbook. But I decided as cool as that is. I'm not sure Android is really up to the task of really being a laptop or even Windows netbook replacement. I'm not sure I'd see myself actually using that keyboard all that much, as I'd probably rather just get out the laptop instead.
I'm pretty happy with my decision now. Just really hope Samsung is more punctual with it's updates. Because Android 3.x really needs some updating.
I got the 32GB version of the TF. I like ASUS products and have a few of their laptops and have used their motherboards for years. So when the TF came out I got it right away. After playing with it for a few days I noticed how cheaply built it was and the first time I tried to watch a movie in the dark I freaked out! The backlight leakage was crazy bad. I took it back and got another one and it was worse. The backing of the TF was loose and made a creaking sound. The light leakage was worse than the first and the power button failed after 5 days. I took the second one back and got a third. Went to my car and went over it before I left Frys and it had all the same problems. Walked back in and got my money back. ASUS you drooped the ball big time with the TF.
After all that, I got the Galaxy 10.1 and was blown away with the total quality of the thing. Not one issue. Its perfect.
I love this thing and have used it every day.
Good luck to whoever got the TF. Hope yours doesn't have the issues my three different ones had.
I ditched my TF, i can tell you why in one word, Comfort.
I loved my TF, but compared to the Tab it feels bulky and heavy to hold.

[Q] Purchasing Advice Needed

hi all,
im after some of your advice as to the best tablet, im going to ask in the Transformer and Galaxy forums as well, but id like your opinions on what is the best tablet to buy, obviously you guys are using the Xoom already, and are happily modding the hell out of them, so you may have experience with the others as well.
i am trying to find somewhere which has all 3 which i can look at side by side, but in the UK im pretty much left with Pc world/Currys.. so i thought id do the next best thing and talk to people who have/use them.
i have narrowed my choices to;
Motorola Xoom,
Asus Transformer
Samsung Galaxy 10.1
if possible can you let me know what your experiences are like with any of them.
Thanks All.

There are already quite a few threads in General and in Q&A touching on the comparsion between these tablets. There's been pretty frank discussion of pros and cons, but as you'd expect on a Xoom forum, most passionate cooments were pro-Xoom. Check them out...you will need to go back a few pages in both sections, but it makes for some lively reading.
Good luck with your decision-making process (but buy the Xoom!)
The Xoom is quite heavy so if you want to hold it with one hand for a minute or two, it isn't the right tablet. It's built really durable but the weight factor is a big con for me. It also has really good specs, just look at reviews on youtube on the tablets. Also, make sure you see all your options! Many of these tablets are getting a price reduction via coupon so find them first so you save a hundred or two.

The Xoom isn't the heaviest tab, but it is the best built. Those others incorporate a lot of plastic and flex a lot if squeezed. There are some issues with all of them, some are related to build quality/quality control, and others are more subjective.
Hello
I purchased my Xoom from best buy 2 weeks ago at the time of purchase I had a play on the Asus and Acer. I chose the XOOM on the back of the better build quality and feel. Yes it is that little bit heavier but it feels better. I also thought about the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 to match it with my Galaxy SII phone but the lack of an sd slot was a big let down for me. Since then Google have purchased part of Motorola which should mean that the Xoom should be supported for a long time to come.

Wow a quadruple post! I haven't seen one of those in awhile ;p
Sorry only meant to press it 1 time.
I've had my Xoom since Feb 24th at 11:12 a.m. & it's hands down the best to me.I love it.I played with the Samsung 10.1 in the store a few weeks ago & wasn't impressed. All it was was thinner..The screen on it didn't blow me away as some people in the 10.1 forum suggests.Me & my Xoom have been thru a lot together
Just come through the same problem as you and narrowed it down to the xoom, for build and expansion and the galaxy tab, for screen and light wieght.
The deciding factor was the price, pc world now do the xoom for £329 wifi or £400 for 3g. I couldnt turn down an offer like that and havent looked back since yes the xoom is a little heavy but I like that! And the screen is fine too, not as bright as the galaxy tab or as vivid colours but long as your not comparing them back to back you'll never notice it tbh.
Good luck with the choice

I think the Xoom's colors are more natural, if more subdued. I had a chance to compare my Xoom vs. a Galaxy Tab 10.1 yesterday and the GTab's screen is certainly vivid! Very good for some things (movies, games), but as an artist, I like to see my work and others' work in a more natural color palette. YMMV.

Definitely the xoom. Its built better then other tabs and has some great support as well.
I couldn't be happier.
The sound beats all other tabs and the display may not be as bright but its ultra responsive. The transformer had a nice responsive screen as well but build quality was subpar.
Like others said before this tablet has a subdued color palette which is great.

hmm i hadnt thought about the vivid colour schemes..
im tempted to wait a bit longer to see what comes out in the next wave of tablets, though im unsure the price of the current best bunch is going to fall by much.
If cost is not a concern, (i guess there isn't a large varience in price anyways), I would advise the galaxy. It is in general just a bit more refined than the xoom. But if you want the hdmi, standard USB, slightly better cameras and more dev work, you can't go wrong with the xoom...

[Q]Should i Buy a Glaxy Tab 2?

Well I recently got a Pantech burst, hence my name. But now im looking for a tablet for personal use and school. Im also interested in the ASUS Eee pad and the nexus 7. Any tips on what to get/reasons to get the tab 2?
I have an gtab 2 10.1 and i have to say that its amazing. Its smooth, has a nice display, good music boxes for a tablet and the battery life is awesome. ( 28 h with intensive use of wifi games and some youtube vids.)
The only thing thats bad about this tablet is the camera, but i think... ITS A TABLET! NOT A CANON EOS!
A little pro for you is the support of the users here in xda

Be cautious when considering the Asus. I bought a new Transformer Prime 64GB, mainly because it seemed to be rated high and was cutting edge. It never worked right. Twice I had to send it to Texas for "repair", the first time when it was only a few days old. Asus has them locked and the unlocking app doesn't work for many, so there's no way to load CWM or a custom ROM. While just under the return window I sent mine back to Amazon for a refund and ordered the 10.1 Tab 2. It may not be cutting edge, but Samsung stuff is solid and there's a lot of support. You might also want to spend some time reading the threads here on XDA about the Asus before you decide. I wish I did. Just my two cents!
I had the 8gb nexus 7 and loved it but not enough storage for me. I have the Gtab 2 7.0 with a 32gb SD card and am very happy with my purchase. If storage isn't an issue for you I would go with the nexus 7.

this.
as much as I like my tab 2, for most folk the 16gb nexus 7 is the better purchase.

Agreed. I've gone through a couple phases with my Tab 2 7" thus far. I was initially a bit disappointed in it as the screen and performance weren't quite as crisp as my Galaxy S2 phone. But after more day-to-day use and comparing it with the hacked Nook Color I'd been using previously it's really started to grow on me and I quite like it now, especially given the price. But if I had to buy new right now I'd probably opt for a 16GB Nexus 7. The extra space provided by an external storage card on my Tab is largely useless as far as most apps are concerned.

I got the Tab2 because it shipped with ICS, has a back camera and expandable storage. No regrets. I am not in the US so I wouldn't have been able to access all the Google services. Tab2 was a bit less ($10) than the Nexus for me.
You should search. You would see the other five threads asking the same question.
No, don't buy one. Get an ipad.

Ha good one. Like I would spend my money on an apple product. Also the nexus tablet is like Two weeks? Two days old. I doubt someone compared it to this but thanks for the negativity downer Dan!
I am very happy with my Tab 2, but in the end I think the i-pad is the better choice: many more tablet apps available.

Like scottx said buy an IPad so you can support sue happy Apple. They need more money so they can block or delay us in getting new non-apple products.
Seriously, I would do a lot of research and find local stores that have various ones on display and take some time to play with them. This is a big purchase for some of us. I kind of rushed into it and am not sure I made the best decision even though I am happy with my Tab 2. I had a Toshiba Excite 10 and it was great also with the exception that there is still not a lot of developers making apps that are compatible or support the Tegra 3 processor. And the fact that there was a glitch in the camera (which is better than the Tab 2) that caused some issues.
Good luck in you search and decision.
Whatever you do.. get something over 8GB ,,,,,,

Sure
I'd owned iPad 2 about a year but traded it for Galaxy Tab 2 (5100) so I have experience for both devices.
iPad is absolutely unusable without JailBreak. And you can not guarantee some smart guy will make a jailbreak for new iOs version.
But it is smooth and handy and sweet and yummy. And all girls are yours (if you own Ferrari as well).
SGT2 is scarcely usable with stock Samsung rom. It's sluggish and it lives its own life and doesn't care what exactly you want to get by poking your finger into the screen. Sometimes it may make an exception and mercifully respond to your wishes. May be such an impression comes after iPad since raw android users don't experience anything like that.
Yesterday with help of comrade Endoroid I managed to flash CyanogenMod 9 to my SGT2. And you know what - it is smooth almost like iPad now but you haven't to perform all those Voodoo dance to just put a file on it. So now I have all the mighty might of android swiss knife and smoothness of near of such of Ipad.
As a summary - I would recommend you this device if you can handle flashing a custom rom and don't bother about warranty.
Make your choice (c) John Kramer.
Got my GTab 2 since yesterday. It ran only 1 minute stock (to copy CM9 and gapps on flash) . Now I'm running CM 9 RC2 - CM10 4.1 is in progress by codeworkx. It's so smooth :fingers-crossed: ! Love it! Only thing is, that dock features like audio/hdmi over dock connector aren't supported yet.
I've read in many threads that the build quality of the Nexus 7 is not very good. Asus tried to build it so that it would be easy to tear down and replace parts, and in order to do that, they did not use any glue to hold in the screen. This may been nice for the repair department, but it sucks for the average user constantly getting a loose screen (eventually causing damage to the screen).
Thanks guys, im pretty sure im going to get the tab, and whats this about the nexus 7's screen coming loose. Any links to that??

The problem is that there is no glue.
Check out this video on the teardown.

Hmm.. and one more thing. It looks like the screen has yet another problem with "ghosting" images.
http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-7-ghosting-issues-affect-some-displays-99349/
Oh and also it seems that Tegra 3 chips have a severe "flickering" problem with the display.
Gee.. that is like 3 separate problems directly related to the screen
There is a hardware problem that affects the flickering in the display. When the brightness level is turned down, the IPS panel is affected when the broadcom WiFi chip receives data. So, if you want to use the internet and turn down the brightness, you will get (from what other people say) severe flickering on the screen. Sounds annoying.
I got myself the galaxy tab 2 and overall well i will say for stock rom it does ok if you are doing light work (surfing, and music) although you do see the screen or tapping of screen lag when you are running more things. However overall rather stable for android os 4.0.3. i think there is an update to 4.0.4 but i guess i will stick with 4.0.3 a while longer before moving on to custom roms.

NO! Don't buy Galaxy Tab 2, I suggest you to buy an Asus Transformer Pad than Gtab 2 because some reasons:
1. It's cheaper
2. It's using NVIDIA Tegra 2 GPU (Transformer) which run graphics very smoothly than Gtab 2 which only powered by PowerVR
3. Asus Transformer's dock is very usable, your tab can transformed into a netbook
4. The dock could extend the battery of the tab up to 6-10 hours as I know
5. The widget and live wallpaper is pretty cool and awesome B)
6. Asus built in apps is very usable too
And the last...
7. It's have good specs for gaming
But I just suggest you and you've still consider which is the best for you

You should install this rom,if you like stock roms. Very nice indeed. Remove the bloatware, install some sort of app that stop apps from starting on their own, and you will see a nice improvement.

Upcoming Galaxy Note 10.1 vs. other contenders

Hi guys,
I really like what I read about the upcoming Galaxy Note 10.1. My personal preferences in the tablet: do care about thickness, weight, IPS screen, screen size, battery life, build quality, future Android updates, storage expansion (somewhat); don't really care about: things like pen input; 1280x800 vs. 1920x1200 resolution, ability to make phone calls from.
So, I've noticed that there are a couple of contenders out there (or very soon to be released):
1 - IdeaTab S2110; currently out; similar specs 10" screen; same size, weight and thickness; similar battery performance(?); no MicroSD card; v4.0.x; only $399
2 - MediaPad 10 FHD; out in August supposedly; 1920x1200 10" screen; same size, weight and thickness; v4.0.x; under $500 is what I've read
Both offer an optional keyboard which not only extends the battery life but also adds some extra ports, and MicroSD one for IdeaTab.
So, *with* the above criteria, why would someone pick the upcoming Note 10.1 over those and perhaps similar contenders? Or may be I can phrase it differently: why would *you* pick Note 10.1 over all other choices?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
Easy that one. It's by Samsung. As much as people like to ***** about their support its still better than a lot of the smaller players in the tablet game. They have now built a ton of android devices and are getting pretty dang good at it.
I had a transformer prime and sold it to buy the lower spec galaxy tab 2. Why? If you root the prime you loose the ability to ever go back to stock Rom and ota updates. At least Samsung give you the freedom to hack your device and return it to stock at will. I'm pretty sure the flash counter will only be used to deny warranty if you do something silly like overclock until your cpu fries in which case it's clearly user error not a faulty device.
From here on in Samsung's getting my loyalty until other manufacturers stop being jerks to the modding community.

Thanks. Yeah, I don't appreciate shenanigans like that either. "Upgradeability" is high on my last as well, which I didn't mention. That's why I didn't actually include Toshiba Excite there, which supposedly comes with a locked bootloader. I hear Lenovo is so-so about providing timely/any updates either. So, that one may be out as well. Don't know much about Huawei tbhwy.
Note 10.1 specs looks really good, especially given the performance of the similarly equipped SGS3 although the screen is going to be it's downfall... I don't mind 1280x800, but the Tab2's 1280x800 is not nearly as crisp as the Transformer Prime's 1280x800 IPS display.
Unfortunately, I do not see a better Android contender at the moment... the transformer infinity seems to be another Asus beta product and suffers with poor i/o performance.
Looking forward to the Samsung announcements today. Hope it is at US retailers right away.

Thanks.
Mod(s) should probably move this thread to Note forum.
Why would they move it? Hmm.
I'd like a ten inch tablet after having a few sevens. Never had a ten. I think I'd like it more.

There is a Galaxy Note dedicated forum now and when I posted it originally there wasn't any.
