Hi Guys,
I was having some problems with the phone functionality of my Desire Z, so following their advice, I performed a factory reset from the settings menu. Now when I boot up the phone, I get a 'Process system is not responding Force Close/Wait' message after the HTC boot logo. Choosing either option just leaves me with a blank screen. I've tried booting with/without the SIM and SD card but with the same result and I've tried another reset from the 'three android' menu. I haven't rooted my device or even applied the 1.72 update - everything is as I received it from HTC.
HTC say I need to send it off for repair. Is there anything I can do to fix it myself (without voiding my warranty)? - I'd rather not send it away for two weeks. It feels like it's just a software issue, so I should be able to do anything a repair tech can, given the right tools.
Thanks for your help.
I'd suggest trying another factory reset as maybe something went wrong on the first attempt, if not then the problem could be due to a hardware related issue in which case the phone would have to be sent of to HTC for repair.
Hold vol up and the powerbutton to get into the hoot menu. Use the vol up & down keys to select the factory reset/data wipe option. Then press power to confirm

My Trinity is stuck at the hard reset screen where it says "Press SEND to restore factury default, press END to quit". I've tried to hard reset it as it told me to, but it's still stuck. I've also tried to flash it with a new ROM, but that's hard as it's unable to establish an activesync connection. Is there any way I can fix this myself ?

Have you got to the multi coloured screen after doing the hard reset (Power button+Camera button+soft reset)? If yes then you should be able to plug your Trinity into the PC and flash a Rom.
I had a similar problem while trying to flash a new rom and this worked for me. You could also try removing the battery for more than 3 secs then powering up and attempting the above tasks. Best of luck, most of all don't give up and keep searching the forums.
No, it just went back to the hard reset screen again. But I found out, I placed the buttons wrong when I changed them, so the two softbuttons were pressed all the time. It's fixed now.
ANYONE PRO one can help ME plz...........
Why My HTC WIZARD Not Enough battery energy is it will stuck back at hard reset ??
I was using my Roger's G1 and all of a sudden, the phone reset.
The phone now boots, shows the Rogers logo, then the HTC logo/animation, and then the screen goes black, and the HTC logo/animation appears again, and again and again.
I let it go for a few minutes... same thing.
Only way to break the cycle is either take the battery out to stop, or "Send" + "menu" + "end" key to reboot into the same cycle.
I would like to not hard reset the phone... Any suffestions?
you have to wipe, you don't have a choice
if its the rogers version of the hardware you have to wipe.. even if you wait for a signed system image, it probably wont fix it since the problem is most time in the data partition. try booting in safe mode and uninstalling some apps (or back up your data and wipe) if you havent tried allready... (hold down menu button when the phone powers on, until you see the home screen.
The Rogers version doesn't play nice with all apps for 1.5. In my case it was the wake me up app that caused this problem. I did a wipe to correct.
I ended up doing a full reset, since I couldn;t get into safe mode to backup anything.
What do you recommend as a backup tool (without having root access)?
This is my third hard reset and the first 2 times I was not that peeved at all but this time around I am quite pissed at this phone! I was careful with what I am installing and it was after getting the latest TMO update. Btw, I have TMOUS and stock (newer one). Anyway, I was not even doing anything at all when my phone froze, I was simply going to turn off the alarm (I use SPB Time).
Anyway, I soft reseted and it is stuck at the Stick Together screen. Tried many times and no luck so I just thought, wth, just hard reset.
The first two times I hard reseted, it was automatic since I got a message on my phone but this time there was no message so I decided to use the volume buttons and the end key button. The first time I tried it, I ended up with the tricolor screen and nothing. No message about 'this will erase blah blah.' I tried again several hours later and it finally gave me the message about pressing the volUP button to proceed with hard reset so I did. And after just TWO seconds, I saw RESTORE COMPLETE, press volUP to boot so I did and NOTHING. I am still stuck at the Tmobile Stick Together screen after reboot!!! I did this three times (volUP, endkey, hard reset, volUP) and it was always fast. I don't remember it being that fast before.
Can someone please just tell me what I can do to just get it work again? Does this mean I just bricked this frickin' phone??? I have not flashed a ROM (except perhaps to do the TMOUS update). Can I still make this work?
(I don't know where to post this so I apologize if this is the wrong one. But I thought since a lot of people are flashing their roms in this thread, someone have seen something similar to mine and can help).
I love this phone but this is ridiculous.
things to try

Try removing your memory card and doing hard reset. If that doesnt work try removing both memory card and your sim card and doing a hard reset. If that doesnt work try loading an original stock LEOIMG.nbh file onto your memory card and flashing from your memory card.
BTW, should be BOTH up and down volume keys and power button to get to hard reset screen. Then volume up to restore.
Hope that helps.

I did mean volume UP and DOWN. Anyway, I tried your suggestions but same result. Still stuck.
So I proceed as if I am updating to the newer T-Mobile version. I followed the steps posted here:
http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm54430.xml?
However, when it came to the part where I had to make sure I have active sync established, I actually could not tell as it shows on my PC that I am not connected but at this point I really have nothing to lose. However, that said, in bootloader mode on my phone I see USB when I connect the phone to PC and then it reverts to SERIAL when I disconnect. So I thought, what the heck, it seems to be connected. AND VOILA, I was able to flash using TMO's updated ROM (the one I had just before all these mishap). WHEW! As much as I hate hard resets, I'd take it over bricking.
Thank God for TMo's excellent instructions on that site. I tried reading the instructions for flashing here and I just could not understand all these SPL, HARDSPL2 crap.
If I have to do another hard reset after I set this all up again I am going to scream!!!
My HD2 is not booting up at all, just vibrate and show a black screen, I tried to load from USB but still the same, More over cannot even update any ROM as it hangs in 0%. I have my data (contacts n stuff) is there a way to remove everything and reinstall from factory ?? Even the factory hardreset didnt help me as i m able to restore by pressing the VOL up n down key + power key but it says 100% restore (which takes 3 - 4 sec.).
They seven vibrations is not a good sign. This is thought to be a tell tell sign that the device is having CPU malfunction, a corrupt NAND chip, or some other major hardware malfunction. The Hard reset that you tried is sort of proof too that your issue is a hardware problem cause if your processor or NAND either one are not working correctly it can cause the flashing problem you are having. If you have not tried to flash via SD card then try that. If you get the same results you will have to replace the mainboard or just scrap the HD2. I know that sucks but it is the truth.
Hey All! First post here. I did try and search, but I need some help relatively quickly and could not find a solution. Verizon Galaxy S4, totally stock. Using TouchDown and Airwatch for Exchange support.
Issue:
Have work data on phone. Phone is encrypted with Android encryption.
Phone was dropped. Screen no longer works at all - does not turn on.
Need to wipe phone in order to return to insurance company.
Have sent a remote request to wipe, but cannot confirm if successful
Cannot boot past encryption key point, but cannot confirm anything given the broken screen.
Any thoughts on how I can perform a wipe so that I can return the phone? Thanks in advance!
Fixed!
I was able to wipe the phone! I followed the button commands described in the video below.
3 down volume button presses to select "wipe data / factory reset" followed by 7 on the NO and YES confirmation screen. My phone gave a tiny vibrate when it had finished, could not confirm via screen obviously, and then when I hit the power button, it rebooted (confirming that it had finished the operation and returned me to the home screen).
I hope this can help another lost soul in the future!
Edit: I apparently can't post links so I have broken it into two lines below. Just put it back together. :good:
