Was that the only file available? Usually there's 4-5 .tar files zipped. There's no CSC file.

M250-L it's not I9100
There's even the M250-K and M
They have NFC on board and your phone has it?
They are different hardware variants. Like Vibrant and Captivate and i9000
BTW if you want flash it use the single tar as PDA as it was on all stock firmware released till now

It's not complete when it's missing files. It contains Sbl.bin, factoryfs.img, modem.bin and zImage. Just checking file size does not prove a thing. Open the file and view it. Missing files (assuming Korean firmwares ship with the same files) are boot.bin, cache.img, hidden.img and param.lfs.
Now if someone with a Korean phone can just tell me the version number (see first page), anyone can probably download the complete firmware from Samsung's servers with checkfusdownloader.

Can anyone confirm this?
My friend just came back to the States from Korea, and he brought along the SGS 2 Korean variant "K" (of KT).
I am using the international GT-i9100 on AT&T, so I was wondering if he could also use his korean variant on the network.
I put my sim card on his phone and here's what i found:
it recognized AT&T, and going to settings, I could see that it was my number.
I could make calls, but could not receive.
When i try making calls, it gives me two options, says something like 1.ROAM or 2. use "someting" else (local?) forgive me I don't recall on top of my head as this event took place a week ago.. But as i looked through this thread i saw the exact same picture describing the same problem... also cannot recall which post/page.
Anyways, is there any way to make this korean variant work?
he bought it a month ago in Korea, and before coming to the States he called the KT to have it country unlocked but they told him that the phone is already unlocked so it can be used outside.
I also noticed that the data symbol is only on G. which I believe is 2g. so it's not able to utilize 3g/H+.
Can he use AT&T without problems? thanks guys!

Here is the latest (at time of writing) XXJMF Modem / Baseband file (tested on my Euro Tab - flash with care). To be flashed via Odin / Heimdall.
XXJMF - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: cd4061a61e409c45a9e6ee6c8fcb0370
P
This version is in the JMG ROM that's been available for a few days so people who have updated to JMG already have the JMF baseband version and don't need to make any changes.
This works with your MoDaCo Beta ROM?
Which section do I put the file under in the Heimdal GUI (OSX)?
Does this have the same WCDMA capabilities as the Bell I9000 modem (I9000UGJK3) that has served AT&T Tab users well?
If so, is it better?
Edit: I did some research and it seems that the Bell I9000 modem is not the only one that will work for AT&T Tab users (giving 850MHz UMTS along with the rest).
See:

I loaded this radio--T959TLJL3, along with Roto-JMI-v1--and confirmed that it does work on 850MHz on an AT&T Tab.
Now my question is, what differentiates I9000UGJK3 from I9000UGJK4, T959TLJL3, and XXJMF? How can I tell what the differences are between these radio/baseband/modem versions for EDGE/3G/UMTS, WiFi, BT, GPS?

The i9000 and T959 radios are for other samsung galaxy s phones. The JM* is for samsung tabs. Since they have the same hardware they can be used on AT&T or T-mobile tabs respectively.

This question bothers me as well. I tried quite a few modem firmwares on my US Tmobile Tab and was not able to get 3G with none of them except original stock version.
We have to consider another variable: hardware version of the Tab. It seems that they don't support frequencies of competitive carrier. I had success with Tmo Vibrant. It works on both Tmobile and ATT 3G with proper Sim, of course. Same modem file that worked on Vibrant did not provide 3G on ATT meaning that either software stack or hardware not compatible.
To my knowledge the source code of phone software is not available for public and thus not much we can do about it.
mmmm, there is something strange in the way this tar is compressed,
if you try to unzip it using 7zip (i know there is NO need to unzip it but i do it as usual to check files integrity)it gives an error...
so I think it's better to stay away even if it works it may got some broken bit.
this is the error it gives:
"There i no correct record at the end of archive"
I tried downloading several times and end up with a tar around 500kb in size NOT 12Mb
Hope no one else tries flashing if it happens to them
can anyone who was able to get the entire 12Mb file, pls host it somwhere, as some people have posted, i was only able to download 1Mb file, even if it is zipped thats not going to inflate to 12Mb..
pls post if you were able to download the original 12Mb file.
Worked fine when I downloaded from the Tab lol

I am considering buying the 4G, international version of the S4 and have two question about it for owners.
1) Is there a way of telling by looking at the device, its box, or an option within the settings which market/region the phone was intended to be sold in? I've been assured by a seller than it is a version for my region (I'm concerned about warranty), but want to make certain upon receipt that it isn't an Asian version.
2) When the S4 Google Edition is released will it be possible to flash the software for that device straight onto the 4G, international S4 and use it without Touchwiz?

Thanks very much for your quick reply. So, if I was to buy a sim free version of the phone from Amazon, I could edit the CSC code to match that of a particular carrier in my country and download their firmware for the phone? For example if they released an update before the unlocked version of the phone received the update?

Of course no, there are no stupid questions (at most). Simply - I was unable to answer, sorry.
I have read about the *#0011# trick
it doesnt work for me. I have read that you have to downgrade the modem, do the unlock and then upgrade it again.
So i have looked at my firmware at it is
Current firmware version : PDA:MEA / PHONE:MEA / CSC:ME3 (O2U)
i am rooted and have custom recovery installed, i am using touchwiz rom with quite a few customised bits in it using nova launcher too.
Kies it saying there is an update, but im not doing that just yet
to
Latest firmware version : PDA:MF8 / PHONE:MF8 / CSC:MG1 (O2U)
So i ahve look at this thread
( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025 ) with all the differnt modems.
and it says i have to downgrade to an older version but i cant see an older version that what i have.
Samsung say this is the newer version
GT-I9505 Galaxy S 4 LTE
PDA: I9505XXUBMF8
CSC: I9505O2UBMG1
MODEM: I9505XXUBMF8
Added: 2013-08-22
Can anyone / will anyone be willing to guide me through how to downgrade to an older modem, unlock and then i guess update to the newer modem? or back to the one i have now? and keep the uinlock?
I thank anyone who can help me.

can you help me find the correct one? for o2 UK s4 LTE.
and then once that is done, should i update to the newest one, which is the one above the one i am on now?
as o2 UK are switching on 4G LTE in 2 days time, i assume the new modem will allow for that?
Can that be done and not update the rom or will that be an issue?

Hi,
All that for nothing.
At least your learned how to change a modem.
Glad it all worked out for you.
Still having issues with my O2UK S4 i9505.
It was on ROM XXUBMF8 / Modem XXUBMF8 and couldn't get to the UMTS menu.
Changed to modem XXUAME2 and also tried the older XXUAMDC, both allowed me into the service mode.
In [NETWORK LOCK] menu clicking on [[1] PERSO SHA256 Info] says returns
SHA256_ENABLE_FLAG[1]
going back and clicking on [[3]PERSO SHA256 OFF] also returns
SHA256_ENABLE_FLAG[1]
going back and selecting [[3]PERSO SHA256 OFF] a second time returns
SHA256_ENABLE_FLAG[0]
SHA256_Off => Not Change
Has anyone an idea why I have to do it twice to get SHA256_ENABLE_FLAG[0]?
Going to [NV RESTORE] at this point reboots as expected, but still have network lock afterwards.
I've also tried this with native O2UK sim inserted, and with another non-O2UK sim.
I'm close to spending money on a code at this point!

No, you can just put the file downloaded from Sammobile into the "PHONE" (or "PDA") area.
the firmware version of your phone should be on the original box with the IMEI , if you have the box go for it

Hi Mate
CSC stands for Customer Service Country , it gives you country/carrier specific configuration like language , carrier network settings ( like fastdormacy)
Is good to have but you can live without it.
Does that mean i can download any software from sammobile and install it without any problem??

Yes.
But do not try network specific roms or firmwares of some different model.
Example: i9500 stock firmware wont work with i9505. You will brick your device.
Rest any i9500 rom will work with i9500.
I'm using a russian i9500 firmware on my Indian i9500, and it works better than the rest

Hi!
I just got SM-G9500 (bought in Taiwan), and internet is not working, I believe have tried everything in the settings. Phone unlocked, LTE sign next to carrier on top is there, everything else is ok, except data network. SIM on other phone (S7) works fine. Yep, me located in Europe (Vodafone HU).
Is it possible to get 3G/4G with this phone with my operator? If yes, can one point me to the direction how to achieve this?

Well, I just posted a link where you can see that there are only two countries listed ... or differences in S8 models (and processor) does not matter, so I can take any S8 file? ... I am aware of this principle, but dont see anybody did it in similar case as mine (or with G9500).
Still waiting for opinion/ideas...

Yeah it will make a difference, that phone is only for far-east markets, hence the firmware, you can try the Hong Kong version, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Far east models run very different frequencies on their modem I believe, could be wrong though
you don't need to flash anything.
you have a Galaxy S8 (SM-G9500)
your phone "speaks" all known wireless frequencies (from the factory) & it can be used anywhere in the world.
The LTE icon just means your phone is registered on the LTE network.
It doesn't (yet) mean you have internet access.
you're 1/2 way there.
at least your LTE works.
You need to contact Vodafone HU helpdesk & ask them to give you the "Access Point" details for their network.
** Normally network providers send you these details in a text message - the first time the phone connects to their network - but maybe you didn't accept the settings / deleted the text message?
Once you have the settings:
Go to: Settings / Connections / Mobile Networks / Access Point Names <--- select "ADD" & then enter the details provided by Vodafone HU & save the access point details.
Your internet access will work after a couple of seconds.
