XXJMF Modem / Baseband download - Galaxy Tab General

Here is the latest (at time of writing) XXJMF Modem / Baseband file (tested on my Euro Tab - flash with care). To be flashed via Odin / Heimdall.
XXJMF - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid Load Balancing) - MD5: cd4061a61e409c45a9e6ee6c8fcb0370
P

This version is in the JMG ROM that's been available for a few days so people who have updated to JMG already have the JMF baseband version and don't need to make any changes.

This works with your MoDaCo Beta ROM?
Which section do I put the file under in the Heimdal GUI (OSX)?

Does this have the same WCDMA capabilities as the Bell I9000 modem (I9000UGJK3) that has served AT&T Tab users well?
If so, is it better?
Edit: I did some research and it seems that the Bell I9000 modem is not the only one that will work for AT&T Tab users (giving 850MHz UMTS along with the rest).
See:

I loaded this radio--T959TLJL3, along with Roto-JMI-v1--and confirmed that it does work on 850MHz on an AT&T Tab.
Now my question is, what differentiates I9000UGJK3 from I9000UGJK4, T959TLJL3, and XXJMF? How can I tell what the differences are between these radio/baseband/modem versions for EDGE/3G/UMTS, WiFi, BT, GPS?

The i9000 and T959 radios are for other samsung galaxy s phones. The JM* is for samsung tabs. Since they have the same hardware they can be used on AT&T or T-mobile tabs respectively.

This question bothers me as well. I tried quite a few modem firmwares on my US Tmobile Tab and was not able to get 3G with none of them except original stock version.
We have to consider another variable: hardware version of the Tab. It seems that they don't support frequencies of competitive carrier. I had success with Tmo Vibrant. It works on both Tmobile and ATT 3G with proper Sim, of course. Same modem file that worked on Vibrant did not provide 3G on ATT meaning that either software stack or hardware not compatible.
To my knowledge the source code of phone software is not available for public and thus not much we can do about it.

mmmm, there is something strange in the way this tar is compressed,
if you try to unzip it using 7zip (i know there is NO need to unzip it but i do it as usual to check files integrity)it gives an error...
so I think it's better to stay away even if it works it may got some broken bit.
this is the error it gives:
"There i no correct record at the end of archive"

I tried downloading several times and end up with a tar around 500kb in size NOT 12Mb
Hope no one else tries flashing if it happens to them

can anyone who was able to get the entire 12Mb file, pls host it somwhere, as some people have posted, i was only able to download 1Mb file, even if it is zipped thats not going to inflate to 12Mb..
pls post if you were able to download the original 12Mb file.

Worked fine when I downloaded from the Tab lol

Guys anybody have the 12 mb file? Modaco link is now blocked here in Midddle East and the links provided above is dead, anyone kindly upload or send to my email please?! Thanks in advance!

Which Modem(s) should I Install on my Galaxy I9000?

I have an I9000 on which I've installed a CM7 ROM I built. It works fine but I'm confused about modems. The modem.bin extracted during the ROM build was I9000XXJVK. It works but can't seem to do 3G (I'm in the US on AT&T). I've seen lots of chat on the web about this-or-that modem.bin for the I9000 (like 60 or so).
Q: What's the general differences between modem versions for this phone?
Q: How do I know which to use? Are they interchangeable?
Q: Are they country-specific? The chat seems to say mine is for Europe. Is this maybe why I'm not getting 3G?
BTW: The 3G-not-working problem is only an interesting clue. What I really would like is a brief tutorial-ish blab about modems for my education. Answers like "try them all" are not helpful for this.
Thanks,
-John
Have started a topic about this here : Link

They are country/region and even carrier specific.

[Q] i9505 - Difference between GSM and LTE modem?

I've seen people saying they have a baseband for GSM and another for LTE. Where can I see this? All I see in "About phone" is "Baseband". It doesnt say specific for GSM or LTE.
And How can I get different basebands for each radio? In baseband collection thread all of them are just 1 zip file, so it updates both, right?

anyone?
I see .zip packages that are supposed to upgrade GSM modem to one specific version and LTE to other version at the same time. Where can I check that?

Thank you!
I was thinking that as well, but in Omega ROM's thread there is a zip file that flashes a modem for GSM and another for LTE
**If you are having the old bootloader XXUB flash GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1.tar file with odin by selecting phone.
**If you are having the new bootloader XXUD flash GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUEMJ5.tar file with odin by selecting phone.
That's why I'm asking.
Any idea?
You shouldn't need to touch/flash another LTE modem unless you have problems, the one already on the device should work just fine. I don't know specifically what might be in Omega rom to require those instructions as I've never used it, but I'm running XXUEMJ5 GSM modem with the 'old' bootloader on Foxhound 3.1, and everything is working as it it should. I've never touched the LTE modem/the one that was on the device when I bought it is still on it & LTE works fine in areas where my carrier has LTE coverage.
If you're about to flash Omega rom, I'd say follow the instructions (or ask in the thread), if you're not, I (your mileage might vary though, obviously) wouldn't touch the LTE modem at all unless you have problems with LTE connectivity, WiFi or sound.
Edit - Going back through some posts/threads I have bookmarked from months ago, people who messed around with non-HLOS.bin files seemed to have a funny habit of borking their WiFi & other stuff. As I said above, I wouldn't be flashing one separately unless you had a good reason to (I.E something like the Omega thing where it's a specific instruction as part of flashing the rom), or flashing a rom/something else borks your WiFi/LTE/sound or whatever as I said above, the one already on your phone should do the job.

thank you vey much, but....
too late hahaha I've read your post right after flashing that zip. Everything seems fine but can't test LTE yet because my plan doesnt support it. I'll try to upgrade to LTE this week and I'll search for a method to revert LTE baseband if I need it in the future.
Thanks again sir.

[MODEM][ODIN] Samsung Galaxy S4-mini GT-I9195 (Upd. Oct. 16. - 2017)

This thread is mainly created because the previous thread by @spitya seems to be abandoned, and several users have expressed their desire that I would keep these modems in a separate thread.
It also serves the purpose that I can keep the OP updated with the desired info, instead of referring to some post buried deep in the thread.

The files made available here are extracted from the official Samsung Firmware made available from SamMobile website, it will save you from downloading in access of 800MB of data with average download speed of 15KB.
Mainly it will be firmware specified for the EU market, as I am located here and will be using these firmwares, if you want your specific region included, I would appreciate if you would make sure to make the files available as they become updated for your region, since I don't intend to waste time on something I am not going to be using.
Since I intend not to delete any of the files, it is also essentially a resource with all the different Modem versions released.
User Guide:
Under Windows using Odin:
Extract latest version of Odin to your computer.
Install Samsung Mobile Phone Drivers for Odin to find your device.
Boot your phone into download mode, by pressing [Volume down] + [Home] + [Power]
- Once you reach the Download mode warning screen, press [Volume Up] to continue.
Open Odin
[1]Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
[2]Place the desired modem file in the [AP] slot.
[3] Go to the Options section and make sure Auto Reboot, Re-Partition and F. reset time are unmarked.
[4]Push [Start]
Once odin reports "Success..." message in the Message box, boot your phone into download mode once again and repeat step 1 - 4 once more.
Under Windows/Linux using Heimdall:
Under Windows disregard the sudo part of the command, You can use 7zip to extract the contence of the modem.
Get the latest version of Heimdall, if you are using one of the Debian derivatives you can install the distribution package heimdall-flash
Extract the modem tar.md5 file using the command
tar -xvf I9195XXUCOG1.tar.md5
Boot your phone into download mode, by pressing [Volume down] + [Home] + [Power]
- Once you reach the Download mode warning screen, press [Volume Up] to continue.
Connect your phone using a proper USB cable
See if your phone is detected using the command:
sudo heimdall detect
Flash the modem files using the command:
sudo heimdall flash --no-reboot --MODEM NON-HLOS.bin --TZ tz.mbn --RPM rpm.mbn --verbose
Reboot your phone into download mode once again, and flash the modem a second time.
The modem found here is only working with Samsung Galaxy S4-mini (GT-I9195), it will not work with any other variant of the S4-mini.
Weather the latest modem gives you a boost in signal is very depending on your location and provider, the best advice is to try a few different modems and select the one you feel works best in your case, how ever it is recommended to use the latest since it contains the last security fixes from Samsung.
File versioning:
Some of you might be unaware of how the Samsung versioning of the Modem is layed out, I will try to give an accurate description of what is what in the versioning.
The filename displays the version as I9195XXUCOG1, the layout of the versioning is as follows:
I9195 - Identity of the phone supported
XXUC - Identity of location [XXU] - European location (Unbranded)
O - Year of version (here 2015)
G - Month of version (here 7.th [July])
1 - Compilation number, goes from 1 - 9 and A - Z
Download section:
EU (Nordic)
Latest Modem: I9195XXUCQL2
A collection of the modems are available from AndroidFileHost
[Reserved]
Thanks, now is much better to find new modems!
Good job, thank you very much!
Perhaps you can consider adding Heimdall instructions to the first thread?
Cheers!

Well, the hard way would be to check your exact model number (i9190, i9195, i9197, i257M)
and check at GsmArena to see the 3G & LTE Bands supported for each model
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - I9190, I9195, I9197, I257M
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800) - I9195
LTE 850 / 1800 / 2600 TD-LTE 2300 - I9197
LTE 700 / 2600 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - I257M

Click to collapse
and cross check that with the 3G & LTE Bands that AT&T supports...
Or you could try the easy way, just give it a try,
from my experience the I9195XXU modems are the more cross-compatible
(initially designated for Europe, but according to forum members
compatible with networks from Asia, Australia and America)
and are actively developed on top of that.
So why don't you grab the most recent I9195XXUCPE1 modem?
YMMV, and take a full backup beforehand,
but you could just grab the latest T-Mobile baseband like this one
just for peace of mind, and if the latest baseband available is not working, just install the one for T-Mobile.
(Or just reinstall the baseband of the ROM you're currently using).
I'm picking the one for T-Mobile as a safety measure cause I think that it's compatible with AT&T network
Wiki
AT&T and T-Mobile use GSM, while Verizon, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular use CDMA.

Hello and thanks for the thread and for your work
I checked on sammobile and the last modem released in Italy is I9195XXUCPB1, but the lastest at all is I9195XXUCPE1 (which is noted for France). So my question is, which one will be better choice for Italy, considering that they advice to check sammobile for the best country-based modem, but both of them are for Europe and I think France uses the same frequencies and bands as Italy?
Thank you
They both will work in france/italy/Germany/UE based, how ever the CSC instructions for the region might be altered for a specific provider, so if you are on orange and living in Italy and flash Nordic released modem, you could potentiale lose functions like the SIM tools for USSD codes regarding Secretary functions.
The baseband frequencies will always work for any EU based location, since it is the same bands beeing used throughout EU.

NO rom really worked for Sprint version N900P

am using Sprint version note 3. the N900P, i installed Darklord it worked great tho no network signal (can't make calls) then tried AryaMod also great ROM very smooth and work perfectly tho the LTE/4g or any network data is not working (Can make calls but no internet if no wifi ) then tried Phronesis again work great no LTE/4g then again tried the NX MAX or something like that then Remix restriction i think the name of it. AND AGAIN work great smooth but the LTE/4g or 3g won't work. you end up with a device that has no internet out of your home XD I mean i don't know what to say to thanks the devs for giving this for free like really wow its amazing work and its all there to download with one click really thank you... although i don't get why the sprint version is even there as one of the supported version if its not really working... anyway this is not my point i just wanna ask if someone tried ANY ROM on SPRINT N900P Sprint USA version and it actually worked (worked as just worked) am not looking for perfection when am downloading something to modified my device i understand its stupid to ask for that. want perfection go spend 800$ and buy new) am just asking for a phone that make call text and have internet lol
TL,DR Is anyone Live in the USA and with Sprint version have the galaxy note 3 N900P version that tried any Marshamallow or nougat rom and it actually worked pls ? thanks in advance
Problem is this is not the Sprint forum and Devs do not have a Sprint to work on .
Sprint developers need to do the work .

It also requires some changes in the build.prop file to prefer cdma and network settings associated with cdma which I don't remember right now. Even then, depending on the rom, none of that will change a thing. I learned a hard lesson to never get a cdma phone again, since my n900p is now on gsm, has no issues with roms anymore.

i totally agree, for an S7E port for example, which i think better than Note7 ports, here what is exactly needed :
1- choose SPR as csc code in aroma installer (original Darklord S7E port have this choice, AryaMod don't)
2- Check if these strings exist in build.prop or manually add them
Code:
ro.build.flavor=hero2ltespr-user
ro.product.name=hero2ltespr
ro.product.device=hero2ltespr
ro.build.product=hero2ltespr
telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=1
ro.config.multimode_cdma=1
ro.use_data_netmgrd=false
persist.data.netmgrd.qos.enable=false
ro.config.combined_signal=true
ro.telephony.default_network=10
ro.cdma.default_numeric=310000
ro.cdma.default_alpha=Chameleon
3- unzip then put the attached library to "system/lib/" (set permission to 0644)
4- Finally, check the correct apn in settings.
I think that's all it takes.
Thank you for your answer. appreciate the help and info. but it actually work now been 2 days after updating and it work like EVERYTHING sms,mms,calls, LTE, 3g everything is actually working thanks to this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/help/note-3-roms-n900p-t3364802
read it all and this is what i did. flashed Aryamod. (am sure any other good ROM will also work) then flashed the file in the 5th or 6th page the fixed file the dude links the NVMO i think the name of the file that choose the network for you NOT THE ORIGINAL one download the one that the dude linked in the 5th or 6th page he said its the fixed one... then after flashing the rom open the phone then finish the installation then switch off the phone and flash the network file and choose Sprint i didn't have any need to do the APN (actually the APN was and still grayed out for me i can't change anything i even bought a pro version of APN manager and didn't have any use for it cause the phone is actualy working...
in case this didn't work flash the network file first then the ROM file and open the phone finish installation then close and flash the network file again... hope this will help.
the only reason i went for Aryamod cause i like it this method MAY (not sure) work on any other ROM darklord or whatever you like you can try its fun lol
this is the file you need to flash after flashing the ROM and open your phone and finish installation flash this file. in case the link didn't work for any reason get it from this page

Help: SM-G9500 3G/4G in Europe

Hi!
I just got SM-G9500 (bought in Taiwan), and internet is not working, I believe have tried everything in the settings. Phone unlocked, LTE sign next to carrier on top is there, everything else is ok, except data network. SIM on other phone (S7) works fine. Yep, me located in Europe (Vodafone HU).
Is it possible to get 3G/4G with this phone with my operator? If yes, can one point me to the direction how to achieve this?

Well, I just posted a link where you can see that there are only two countries listed ... or differences in S8 models (and processor) does not matter, so I can take any S8 file? ... I am aware of this principle, but dont see anybody did it in similar case as mine (or with G9500).
Still waiting for opinion/ideas...

Yeah it will make a difference, that phone is only for far-east markets, hence the firmware, you can try the Hong Kong version, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Far east models run very different frequencies on their modem I believe, could be wrong though
you don't need to flash anything.
you have a Galaxy S8 (SM-G9500)
your phone "speaks" all known wireless frequencies (from the factory) & it can be used anywhere in the world.
The LTE icon just means your phone is registered on the LTE network.
It doesn't (yet) mean you have internet access.
you're 1/2 way there.
at least your LTE works.
You need to contact Vodafone HU helpdesk & ask them to give you the "Access Point" details for their network.
** Normally network providers send you these details in a text message - the first time the phone connects to their network - but maybe you didn't accept the settings / deleted the text message?
Once you have the settings:
Go to: Settings / Connections / Mobile Networks / Access Point Names <--- select "ADD" & then enter the details provided by Vodafone HU & save the access point details.
Your internet access will work after a couple of seconds.
From hungary too
Hy, I'm hungarian too,and i'm just writing in english because of forum. I bought also an SM-G9500,and i still didn't get Oreo. Or any softwer updates since january. If you want, search me on facebook, Gyarmati János István.
Just wait. My SM-G9500 received the Oreo update today.

Try flashing with Odin 3.13.1
Apparently some older versions of Odin generate a SH256 (encryption??) error
