beware with new agile version

it downloads on its own the next time u connect, but in my case i wasnt able to connect to internet anymore, no agile, no pie, nothing...maybe my device, my config, dunno, luckily i had a recent backup, but be carefull before updating it...
and no, it wasnt a gprs issue, my provider, etc...i know what im talking about and i did a restore to a day before this problem and it was working flawlessly again...

Mine asked me if I wanted to download it.
My wizard also worked perfectly afterwards. Good think you know what your talking about.

Mine also asked if i wanted to download...and i clicked yes...but after the update my connection wasnt working...not gprs nor activesync-pass nor wifi, nothing...
I mean...most of the ppl r confident that a new version shouldnt have worst problems...thats why i accepted the update...and thats also why im warning it here, usually it is recommended to update everithing, but do a backup before...just in case...
And yea, i know what i talk about, i work with computers since 1995, and not a normal user, i have a retail store...and i have been using different pocketpcs and cellphones all the time...and im a tech geek, what can i say...not a hardcore programer/hacker, but i know one or two important things...
And a last word, if i sound retarded or childish maybe is because english is not my natural language, but if u want i can start posting in perfect adult spanish lol...

Well i haven't used agile in awhile due to it cutting off my phone calls. but all this flaming is ridiculous.

I downloaded the new version and installed. It works well with Yahoo but crashes for Google. If you have just google account, the moment you login, it will try to connect and crash. I get even win32 exception. I then removed Google ID by registering blank credentials.
It has new feature of assigning a button to push to talk and has new settings for it.
New version is not a FREE version, its free for 7 days only. Look at http://billing.am-im.net/am/usd.php

At any rate, besides that it's a pay version, none of my Google contacts show up on this new version. Can't seem to get them to appear.
I've since downgraded to the last version. It has problems, but it's free and works.

ppc version is now payware? afaik the only payware of the agile version was the symbian one...but who knows...

Actually, it looks like the download and the first 7 days are free. According to their web site, anyway. After that, you pay for the subscription. So you're not paying for a beta and the app will soon be worthless if you don't pay up. They announced that this would eventually be a pay service months ago so I fail to see the big surprise.

Same problem
Installed the new version when I got the popup message and it worked flawlessly... for an hour. Now i can't connect to the internet at all, not with any application.
Agile is on the way out of my Wizard with great speed. Too bad, I really liked it, but I won't pay the price they want, especially not when it screws up my device.
20 minutes later: Agile uninstalled and after a soft reset I got my internet back.

God I hate my HD2

I'm sorry if theres been a million of these posts but i seriously regret buying one and now its too late to send it back because its taken me over a month to realise how bad it really is.
Now dont get me wrong, its an amazing piece of kit but its horribly let down by terrible software.
Main features rarely work, Everyone is aware of the LAGGY text problem the terrible text input software, the fact that it loses data connection all the time and has to be restarted to work again, When i come out of standby alot it doesn't work and the buttons light up and i have to take the battery out.
The phone is unresponsive and laggy alot to name but a few.
Its driving me insane, i want to get rid of it but i cant, i'd sell it on but my girlfriend dropped it and scratched it devaluing it and TBH, i'd feel bad selling it to someone knowing how bad it is.

send it back to htc for repair. that **** don't happen with mine!!!!

Tell me this, did you get your phone expecting the best thing ever, and it sort of was until these problems came about but you thought you would hold out for a fix/fixes. Still waiting out you lost your patience and want something that simply WORKS?
I'd agree with what people are saying, sending it back because really, it shouldn't be so unusable. Give them a sharp angry tone, it might quicken up the fixes release for the rest of us!

just as i post this i try sending a text to another phone 5 inches from the hd2 and 20 minutes later...no message DOH!

lol - that could have been any number of things, couldn't it. The least likely is your phone!
Anyway, you do know that it doesn't send the text directly to the phone don't you? It doesn't mean it'll get there quicker if they're right next to each other

Like most of the people here I have not had a single problem with the device. I did however have to loosing connection but that was easily fixed because of a discrepancy between what the htc wizard set up as my internet connection and that which it really was. I'm on the dutch KPN network and instead of the portal being "portalmmm.nl" it should be "internet". No problem since.

yeah, i know, would expect an sms to be sent within 20minutes though!
was saying they're right next to eachother so i wasnt waiting for a reply from someone i would know exactly when the text came through.
i sent a text to my boss yesterday and i havent been sacked so im guess ing that one didnt go through either

I had these problems before anyhow and i was waiting as someone said...for updates to fix it, there have been many updates with no fixes and any fixes i do get are user created ones!
I had an Iphone previously which worked fine and was a bit slow at times i didnt expect the HD2 to be the best thing ever but i expected it to be quicker than my iPhone, i couldnt foresee the problems the HD2 would have as ive had HTC's in the past with no problems and i rate the company very highly.
I'm just so dissapointed.
I got the mobile through Mobilephones direct with T-mobile contract, who do i get in contact with? Mobilephones direct? T-mobile or HTC?

Yeah man, factory reset's, updated the rom, tried all versions and still get same problems.

I'm another person who's had no problem with the device - and I am quite demanding. I have not made any changes to the device as delivered other than registry tweaks. I did run the HTC official quick-fixes, found they caused chaos and assiduously removed them all. All the software I've installed has been well-tried commercial stuff.
The only unusual thing I have to do is to disconnect data services before I go to bed, otherwise it won't sync with MyPhone...

i experience kinda the same problems, laggy texting or even no texting at all until restart, data connection dropping and again needing restart...
but still most of the times it works great, better than any previous phone i had. despite these little annoyances i still say i love my hd2 and wouldnt trade it for any iToy.

i have the tg01 and i love it..i was having issue with the phone as well and discovered that if you install certain programs to the sd card it makes the phone laggy..and have to reboot....i had the spb shell 3.5 and i installed it on the sd card and it was laggy and the 3d accelerator didnt work..so i uninstalled and installed it on the phone and ...now the phone is very stable..havent had any issue...food for thought...

Why hasn't HTC fixed the messaging lag yet?

Im wondering about the HTC messaging app that takes like 10 seconds to load all your texts with a contact if its 20+..also the whole app starts to lag after a while if you have too many messages.
why hasn't htc fixed this still? is there any community fix for it besides using the zenyee cab ?

Seriously, they need to follow Apples, Palm route, which is only load the last 10-15 messages instead of 100+, makes things MUCH easier on the UI/OS.

in his defence, and if youve had any experience with the customer support youd understand, it's appalling.
you can tell them about an issue which on this forum about 500 people say theyve reported to htc and they have 'escalated' the issue, and when you talk to them they said its the first time theyve heard of the issue.
as soon as they release a phone, they develop 1 or 2 software updates for it and then simply focus their resources on developing and selling a new phone. it's all about profits.

Nope, FACT.
I have over 5000 text messages to my fiancee on my iPhone, IT NEVER lagged or slow down on load up. Why? Because the iPhone ONLY loads the last 40-50 messages and gives you the option to load earlier messages. On my HD2, I have 505 text messages to her and Sense UI loads them ALL at once, it's a complete lag fest and a wait game.

In my defense this is my first WM phone, but did a LOT of research before purchasing it... HTCs non-existant support is legendary - just ask uncle goog.
hoss_n2's posts in no way convey this point - he appears to have done no research but bought a phone he cant use properly, then post rubbish over the net to complain. His fault.

While I have never had this sms lag problem (have over 500 messages in some threads from mrs and family) I also dont use sense (I prefer the normal home screen)... maybe its a sense issue?

He was also banned from htcpedia, for spewing profanities, dissing htcpedia's site, claiming false information.

I don't have this problem...not even with 300-400+ messages with one contact. But I have turned off the "connect to facebook" option so I don't see the picture next to the person.

The SMS lag is appalling and needs to be fixed. I agree with the iPhone theory of loading up 20 or so and archiving the rest. Would make me a happy happy person.

I agree its a pain in the ass.
But its not a long wait, 10seconds max...
I understand everyones point though, it is annoying.
And we spent allot of money for this phone, little problems like this should have been smoothed over...

[Q] Issues with TrueTouch

It's weird nobody has noticed or said anything about this yet, because it's really frustrating me.
As you probably know, Xperia Arc comes with a new screen technology called TrueTouch, which supports up to 32-points of contact. There's an issue which I believe Android is not handling apparently right. When writing (using any keyboard). If I try to write fast, it will make a drift between the first and second letter pressed, and of course, non letter will be written. Is it happening to anyone who likes to write fast?
If you don't see it, another way to see this problem, is going to the main screen, and just touching fast with two fingers, with a bit of distance between them, and not at the exact same time, and you will see how it changes to the next panel, because it's like you'd slided to change the panel (see the image below). I'm concerned about this, cuz I used to write really fast with a sucky iPhone. I really love my arc but this is annoying.
I even wrote to Cypress, the screen manufacturer, and they told me this: "Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with our touchscreen controller. The drift which you are seeing is because of the way application is written on the top layer. Unfotunately, I won't be able to share much of the technical information with respect to this part because this information is shared only if the customer is qualified."
I assume Android is not set up yet to work proper with this TrueTouch. Can any developer fix this? Or let the android people know? Maybe turn the screen into 2-points only so it won't drift? IDK! Please, anybody?

"Thanks for your report. However, in this case it is best that you bring this issue to the attention of your phone manufacturer. The Android Open-Source Project allows companies to bring devices to market by customizing the Android source code as they see fit. Therefore, the Android team is unable to help with issues regarding specific devices."
And as I replied to him: how comes? I don't think this is a "specific devices" problem. It's just S.E. was the first to implement this kind of screen. Google should add support considering other brands will probably start implementing this technology too. However, I guess we will have to wait until custom ROMS start coming out and some developer fix this for all of us.
Does anybody knows how to contact Sony Ericsson? Their website is too limited and all customer service representatives only say "go to your operator's office" and useless stuff like that. We need to send emails to the HQ. Any ideas?

I also noticed this I thought the touch was very bad even broken and take the phone back.
But after some testing I concluded it wasn't broken but it was a software issue. So I think we have to wait for updates to fix this proplem.
Hope to see it get fixxed.
PS. Not every touch visualiser works well on the arc.

That's right, because they're not written for TrueTouch support. Android should be aware of this, considering this is the first phone with this type of screen. Is there any developer who can check on this?

Ive noticed trouble as above too, but mainly when pinch to zoom my screen always shoots to the right, try it, zoom in, keep your 2fingers still once youve pinched in or out and youl see what I mean

Damn! You're right. As I said, there's gotta be a way we can notify Android Developers or Sony Ericsson to make the fix in the software so the TrueTouch can work right. Any ideas?

I confirm this problem! I had similar situatiot at hd2 so I decided to change into Arc :-S lol btw now I'm not going to change the phone because I very like arc. We have to inform SE about this issue and I hope some firmware can fix this;-) now I have to write a little bit slow to avoid that

Definitely! The thing is there's no way through S.E. website to get in touch with somebody from the headquarters. They just have useless representatives by country who actually won't escalate our problem. It would be nice if we could send an email to Sir Bert Nordberg (president), or Rikko Sakaguchi or Kristian Tear (VP's). Any ideas?

This is standard BS. Always if you come with a problem they expect a noob with no knowledge at all and say do a update, or a wipe this will help. I'm in the IT world and know how it goes and this kind off stuff can make me angry

Goddamn! Just like I said, they're useless. Any ideas how to get in touch with some useful developer from sony ericsson? Google is rolled out, Cypress is rolled out, so our real choiceschoices are to insist with sony or r wait until some custom rom that actually will fix this.

I tried to replicate the case with home screen, but I didn't see any.

Not saying the root on the EVO/GB is possible but I have a funny story.
So I updated my Xbox 360, that was "flashed" with Microsoft's newest update which over wrote my aftermarket flash. I was unable to re-flash the new LT Plus 1.9 firmware. I have an Xecuter CK3 and a USB PRO and I still couldn't get it.
I went to the IRC channel on EFNET that the group who writes the flashing software hangs in, they had me install Team Viewer and one of their guys remoted in and flashed my Xbox 360 for me, all I had to do was hit the reset button when he told me. Took the dude 2 hours to figure out what was up with my stuff but he stuck with me until he figured it out. Was crazy he was able to remote in and do it for me like he was there.

But check out his Facebook page! He studied at GOOGLE.COM!!! You can't argue that he's not the real deal.

ha ha what a dolt...

you can kinda make out the ROM that he's on (under Build number it says 4.24.651.1 then some letters and numbers that i cant make out and then release keys) so he's on a stock 2.3.3 ROM....but he probably had S-off with Unrevoked Forever previous to taking the OTA so he just flashed a recovery and SU.

Nope don't know that kid. I don't know if he really found anything for that phone but it seems a little harsh to go and expose the guy for the rest of this forum because some of you disagree with what he is saying.
Since you apparently don't read the internet here is a definition for doxing
