My docking station was just delivered from AMZ. When I first took it out of the box I was impressed, solid, clean and my Iconia A500 with the Acer Cover fit nicely. Then I went back to look for the power cord.....Guess what? $61 and no flippin' power cord. I realize I should have looked closer at the spec's, but sheesh, I never thought to look to see of a power cord was included in a docking station.
Guess I learned something, hope this saves someone out there some grief.
I also received the Acer BT-Keyboard in the same shipment, so the accessories are in stock and shipping.

hello everyone. i'm thinking about using my iconia as my gps for an 11-ish hour road trip i have at the end of the month. i think i found a decent windsheild mount on amazon (had 4 1/2 stars). what i need now is some car power. has anyone found a good car charger for it? or have you used the regular power adapter with a 12v inverter? looking for some personal experiences. thanks for the help.

Ive used DC to AC inverters with good results. main benefit is most devices ship with AC power supply so inverters will always work. Sort of like a poor mans upwards compatibility guarantee.
AC inverter with stock wall wart FTW. Allows the flexibility to plug anything in, not all my electronics can run off 12v or USB (battery chargers and such). Inverter tucks underneath the passengers seat and runs off the rear seat ciggies outlet. Have a 6 slot outlet strip plugged into the inverter with extra wall warts plugged in for my most used gear.

Sorry to ask because I did buy one like that but for me it is not charging at all (when in use). So, please can you confirm if it works with while using the device?
Thanks
I picked this thing up on eBay for $35 brand new w/free shipping.
***THERE SHOULD BE AN IMAGE HERE BUT I'M A N00B AND CAN'T POST OUTSIDE LINKS***
It's a "B3510 Bluetooth Audio Music Receiver". It can hook into your home stereo or a pair of computer speakers or your car's aux input and use it like a pair of bluetooth headphones for your tablet. I'm using this on my Acer Iconia Tab a500 to put Pandora to my home stereo. It's kind of nice having Pandora playing turned up in the living room while I'm able to change stations in the kitchen. 30-foot range is about all you'll get out of this thing though. If you search eBay for "bluetooth home audio" you'll find plenty of other options. I went with this one because it looked the cleanest and was the cheapest. It got to my door from overseas in about 10 days.
Cheers.
20 bucks. Works great. Monoprice is the best.
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10827&cs_id=1082704&p_id=7364&seq=1&format=2
Wow... can't beat that. Have to admit I've never heard of monoprice.com though... thanks for the tip. I'll be checking it out.
I wish we had a Fry's here... this town sux!!
You don't need a Fry's store in your town, just go to their website That is unless you want instant gratification...
I'm male... instant gratification, of course
Yea, I know the feeling, when I need something now and can't wait, I just go to Fry's. Otherwise it's always online for me. hehe
I needed an additional receiver for the bedroom so I ordered your suggestion from Monoprice. I'll re-post when it gets here with first impressions.
Funny thing, It was $26 and change which included overnight shipping. Still cheaper than e-bay.
The one thing I will say though, this adapter from Monoprice is going to be a big white box either up on the wall or taking up 2 slots on a power strip whereas the one that I got from ebay is a small little black square with a single outlet, small corded power supply.
Ok... The bluetooth audio receiver from Monoprice has it's pros and cons but for me it's more of a comparison to the same product I ordered off of eBay a bit ago.
The unit from Monoprice actually is nice because of the price. With overnight shipping it came out around $26 and change where as the one off of eBay was $35 with free shipping but it took about a week and a half to get here.
The Monoprice model is kind of a pain in that you have to string the audio cable from your receiver down to the nearest wall outlet or plug this into your power strip and let it use one outlet and cover the one next to it. One plus though is that it's got a USB jack on it in case you want to charge something.
The model I purchased from eBay has a small power supply with a cord so it allows you to place the unit in your entertainment center with everything else.
The Monoprice model constantly blinks it's bright blue LED when it's not in use (solid when it's connected) whereas the unit I bought from eBay is solid when connected and OFF when not in use. Most wouldn't think this would matter but if it's in your bedroom plugged into an exposed outlet, you'll be sleeping to a constant blue light.
So, although saving a little coin is nice, I'll buy into the more aesthetically pleasing choice next time.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Tiny piece of tape covers blue light. 2$ extension cord puts it anywhere you want.
I bought an Acer A500 without a charger, and hastily ordered this charger with expedited shipping on Amazon Mobile. It has now Shipped and am wondering if it will work or do I have to return and quickly order another one (14 day return window)
Amazon title
"Thor Brand Replacement Ac Power Adapter Cord for Acer Iconia Tablet Computer W500 W500p W500p-bz412 W500p-bz841 W500p-bz444 W500p-0820 W500-bz607 W500-bz467 W500-bz610 W500-bz484 W500-bz414 W500-bz433"

http://www.amazon.com/Thor-Replacement-W500p-bz412-W500p-bz841-W500p-bz444/dp/B005V8NI1E
Looks like the plug is way bigger than in the original charger.
Even if it fits, I wouldn't try because I think I can read 19V on the Amazon picture.
Here's the original one:
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Iconia-A...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1328007859&sr=1-1
Runs with 12V.

Does such a thing as a longer power cable for the A500 exist?
I saw 2M long charge cable for A500, A501 and A100 on ebay. Just try to find it.

Are they reliable?
I don't know, I never try it. But I wouldn't afraid of it.
Acer sells a longer cable on their website.

I find an extension cord does the job
i went to radio shack and bought a piece of wire same as the tablet charging wire. and some shrink tube. added 3 feet to my cable.Doing this carefully with attention to cutting each wire at different lengths long on one end short on the other and keep of the splices at same length will make the cable have NO Bump and prevents a short. After covering with shrink tube and heating it. makes water tight Professional looking results. There are images of this procedure somewhere. I done this before extension cables were available. two days after i bought my tablet. TOTAL COST ABOUT 5-6 us dollars. 30 minutes time to do. With electrical experience. but not needed .
Try at your own risk..
Good luck

I haven't checked the size of the A500's power connector, but I've used this site in the past for DC cord extension cables. Worth a look.

I am so conflicted at this point, I have owned a 201 before getting the 300. There are some things I really miss on the 300 that the 201 had, namely haptic feedback and the super IPS+ screen. But then there are things I like about the 300, strong gps and wifi, similar performance to the 201 and a $380 price, ugh, so torn.
I have 2 dongles and the keyboard for the 201, so torn as to what to do.
I guess I'm just asking for some opinions, both good and bad.
Edit: And the camera flash on the 201.

And I have a quick question for those of you that own both......I just bought a wall plug charger for the TF201 hoping it would work with the 300, but no dice. This new 201 charger won't charge the 300. If someone owns both, would you mind checking if your TF201 charger works with your 300? I thought I read somewhere that the chargers were interchangeable. I'm trying to determine if I got a bum power cord or if the power cables are just not interchangeable.
Thanks!

Try putting just the charger part in a ziplock baggie, get as much air out as possible and put it in the freezer for 15-20 minutes. Sometimes the overheat safety gets stuck and that pops it back.
I had that issue with my 201, put it in the freezer and away it went.
I've owned and returned two 201 units. Purchased a TF101 to tide me over until the 700 infinity drops. Personally, I think it's better to spend a bit more for a better product. I am happy with the TF101 and will keep it along with the 700. But if I was on a budget and had to choose between the 201 and 300 (based on feedback from the 300), I would stick with the 300. You could also try to get a more current manufactured 201 (05/12) they should have all the quirks worked out by now(?).
I have two power adapters that I purchased for the 201 and a stock from the TF101 and they are all interchangeable. What you have to make sure of is that the power adapter is the correct voltage 10W/18W. Most off market are not. I purchased from office depot, they had the same authentic asus power adapter when they were sold out from Asus estore. What's nice is adapter kits cable is much longer than the cable that came with the device. The Asus website lists this adapter as useable with all models SL101/TF101/TF201/TF300T. If you should need a sync cable make sure it's a powered cord (3.0); I can confirm this cord works perfectly.

I saw the OEM chargers but they are $30 bucks and didn't want to spend that much on what was going to be just an extra charger for travel. I bought this one on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=180869444176&view=all&tid=817560853008
The specs on the plug seem to be the same as the OEM plug that came with the TF300, which is 5V output and 2100mA. I think I got a bad plug I guess if they are all supposed to be interchangeable. The cable part worked fine with the other charger.
2100mA <-- Sorry, I don't know what that means. This looks more like a battery spec.
on the charger I have it lists:
input 100-240V~0.5A
output 5Vdc/2A or 15Vdc/1.2A
The ebay link no longer works. I've found its sometimes better to spend a bit more on these types of items, the majority of really cheap after market cables are usually no good and sometimes dangerous. I will only use after market items by referral or if it has loads of good feedback.
Edit: I found the item and it looks like the wrong adapter. The specs are not listed in the description. Be careful with the stuff from china hongkong. It's usually junk. Takes so long to receive and by the time you have a chance to test it and discover a problem you are usually beyond the 30 day return window.
Hopefully you will be able to file a claim with ebay to get your money back since it's an international sale and will cost more to return than the price of the item. They take advantage of that.
Don't go against your instinct. you know deep down you want to keep the prime. don't settle for the downgrade. its going through its own growing pains also, as you can see from the various threads here & in QnA. Some of the same issues are being seen here on 300. except 300 "shouldn't" even be having them since it has a plastic back(wifi issues).
take another look at the Positive Transformer thread in my sig. to joggle your memory on how great it is..lol.
300 is cool though, for the lower price. just not as high spec or powerful as the prime.
good luck deciding.

The plug basically has the same specs as yours. 2100mA is just 2100 milli-amps which is 2.1 amps like yours. Same 5V DC output. Oh well. I guess i just got a bum unit. I've actually bought lots of these types of charges on eBay for cell phones, computers, tablets, iPads, iPods, over the years and this is the first one I have received DOA.
Anyway, thanks for the info about the interchangeability.
I've owned both and can say it is really hard to choose.
Prime wins at -
screen brightness, clarity, colors were better
Built a little better IMO
Flash for camera
Thinner
Gorilla glass opposed to tf300 "hardened glass"
Tf300 wins at
Wifi range and speed greatly improved
GPS is better
Cheaper
SD card slot does not stick out at all
All the outer buttons seem a little nicer and snappier
Sound is better through speaker. Louder and clearer
Rubber surrounds the screen to aid in absorbing impact on drops.
IMO the system runs smoother on the tf300
So if you can check more in one list that matter than the other than I'd say get that one. You really can't go wrong ether way
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using XDA Premium HD app
I have both and you know the differences, just pick which ones are important.
I use a 201 at work and have not had wi-fi issues (C3 serial). I feel better with the gorilla glass and the look is great.
I bought a 300 for home use. yes, you can feel the difference between the metal and plastic screen...but more as a difference than a better/worse.
Thinner...hard to tell.
IPS doesn't matter to me.
Flash doesn't matter to me.
The price difference did. If I was to buy a third one, I would go with the 300.
