I have extracted the disc file from the native emulator and got it to run in FPSE to the playstation logo by renaming the .ps file to ISO so I'm guessing in order to run our own games in the play's native emulator we have to inject our iso to the data file within the .zpack compression (which can be unarchived in mac by renaming it to .zip) and rename to .ps with some other tweaks
(sorry if this doesn't make any sense frantically typing to keep up with myself :S)

In other words, you haven't gotten it to run at all. All you are seeing there is the emulator running the BIOS. The .ps file is an encrypted file format. No amount of screwing around with it in very simple ways is going to get it to work. All of this stuff's been tried before. You need to break the encryption to get anything like this to work at all.

ahhh fair enough XD oh well was worth a shot
Where is the emulator stored anyway ? Can sombody extract it? I havn't rooted my phone yet, but I could take a look at the disassembly and see if I can find the necessary part which decrypts the .ps file.
Maybe it's even easier to patch the native emulator to read unencrypted files instead of figuring out the de-/encryption algo and keys etc.

There is no emulator, the actual .apk for each ps game acts as the emulator

I already thought about that but never had confirmation, that it realy works this way. I'm new to the Android world you know?
On the PSP, the PS1 emulator is a fixed part of the firmware, so I thought Sony went this way again.
Anyway ... my offer remains, if anyone can give me such an .apk I'll take a look at it

Hey,
Here's the file to install Gallery 3D to the Desire.
You have 2 ways of installing:
1) Install Android USB Driver (search for it) run the following commands:
adb install <filename and path>
2) Copy to SD Card, open in a file manager (make sure "install from unknown sources" is checked in menu) (untested)
New version:
Gallery works great, launches camera, and plays videos!

No it includes Sense's gallery "Photos".
It just gives you 2.1 style gallery that's on the nexus one which looks better than the default for HTC, just install using astro file manager and off you go just place a short cut on one of the screens.
If anyone can figure out how to get launcher 2 style all programs and keep sense ui that be top
Thanks, brummiesteven
Sorry, what is Gallery3D and why do I want it?
It works but not well, for example pressing the camera icon, will crash the application and prompt a force close, there also seems to be some issue with the screen going black for a few seconds.

Eclipse is an IDE, you can develop/run/deploy jar files from it to the phone (also apk I assume). NetBeans works too with JAR files, not sure with APK though.
BTW, you cannot transfer the APK file directly to your phone and install it from there?
Does the 3D gallery replace the Sense one? Or is it just an alternate app?

I *think* he's trying to test his own code via the phone which I'm not sure is possible or not, pretty sure you have to use the emulator.

Are you saying that you can't test your own apps on the Desire through the standard developer tools? That's more than strange. brummiestevens said he could install apps via adb, so testing your own apps should work.
OK seeing as my computer currently doesn't work, I need to know if there is an app for my phone that will at least edit the contents of an apk, if not compile one. Anyone?
Also, if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it, mods.

apk's are just renamed zip files.
If so, then is there an app that will directly edit zip files? And do they need to be set to store compression level? If so, is there an app that does so?

yes, set to store...all you have to do is long-press the file and select rename...same to change it back afterward. I don't know about what app will allow you to set to store, but there are a TON of free zip apps. Check the market
I need to edit them though, and if I extract it edit it then zip it with an app, it's not set to store.
From my X10a running WB CM 6.1.3 V053
Root explorer can open xml files in apps but I don't think it can edit them.
After modding the contents of a non-system apk file i believe you'll have to re-sign the apk. I dont know of any way to do that on your phone, i am admittedly not an expert though. Ive modded icons and such for apps and the only way I could find out how to get them installed was to re-sign them on my PC and push back to the phone.

Yeah signapktic can sign on the phone, all I need is an app that either will, zip things set to store like in sundae or one that will directly modify the contents of the zip.
From my X10a running WB CM 6.1.3 V053
The files inside apk is I think encrypted. normal text viewers (ex. notepad) cant see it. and the resource files (styles strings colours ) are archived again. Btw it would be great if we have an app to disassemble them within 4n. Coz copying apk from and to to computer is a pain

Well making it a zip on my phone didn't screw anything up. I can still browse normally. What I need is a means to edit a zip without compressing it, like you have to for bootanimatjons and everything else.
From my X10a running WB CM 6.1.3 V053
I would suggest having a look through the market....download every free app you can find and see if any help. There are so many out there that I have no idea which would work for exactly what you will want it to do. Really, trial and error is the best way, sometimes lol
eclipse
I'm not sure I understand correctly, some previously mentioned are right on track.
Contents of an APK file are as normal zip files, extract the APK with winrar, 7zip or similar program.. make modifications and re-zip it and change the file name.
Important process called "Zip Align" optimizes the file for the APK format and helps to optimize and align the archive for memory mapping I/O ensuring the payload is delivered correctly, for more info - mmap
If you would like to reverse an APK file, I choose to use APKTOOL a Google hosted project and complete with it's own reverse engineering syntax called "baksmali" - This wraps AAPT - Android Asset Packaging Tool part of the android SDK - need this installed.
An issue exists with obfuscated Java classes. Meaning source code has been scrambled (obfuscation algorithm) enabling it be understood by a compiler but no longer is human readable. Another issue is Signing the APK file as most installers are to authenticate the issuing publisher.
To build an APK anyone only need's have the Eclipse IDE and Android SDK installed and you can do this without even having an Android device by using the emulator to build and test your application.
Happy play!
EDIT: Apk edit and Apk tool are both able to help in this situation also.
I want to pull some APK's from system/app/......apk with APKmanager. But when I type input: /system/app/.......apk I got a message that chosen file doesn't excist.
But when I type input: /system/framework/framework-res.apk no problem occured. File will pulled out of the ARC and ready for modding
Why not with system/app/..... APK's
Can someone help me with this?

Vintiem

Hi all,
I am a greedy guy, I want all the games that come with the PLAY, even the game is crap..
hence I was wondering what is the best way to backup all the games like the sims, brucelee, crashbandicoot and madden nfl11. which i can always load it back when I feel to look at the intro.. or just because i can..
I know game from gameloft i can easily obtain the apk and make a backup using appssaver...
but how about brucelee or crashbandicoot? how can i remove yet have control to load it back without reset to factory.
in root explorer (if phone is rooted) go to system/apps all the apks are in there that you can copy and paste to a memcard! That will back the game up but im not sure about games saves
you mean bruce lee and the crashbandicoot is also in apk format?
