Battery seems to charge itself - Atrix 4G General

Hey guys, I just wanted to point something out that I found. I have two Motorola bh6x batteries for my atrix and today one of the batteries ran down to 15% or so. Since I was in a hurry I just swapped it out for my fully charged battery. Later on I plugged the first battery back in and it somehow had 55% charge. What I'm wondering is how the heck that's possible. Has anyone else seen this happen to their phones?

My experience with android. Reboot phone to gain about 10% back.

Its magic!! I had a feeling this was a glitch in the battery reading.

It was Harry Potter who done it!
I swear guv!

In adition to rebooting and taking the battery out to sit idle, Ive found that soaking my battery overnight will double its charge! jk
I know your phone keeps a batterystats.bin file, and to "calibrate" you delete this file after fully charged. Not sure how this works with two batteries tho.?

charging

Hi all, I have a quick question. I have read in various forums that leaving my phone plugged in after its fully charged can ruin battery life. Does anyone know if this is true? I usually plug it in to charge when I go to bed and I know it finishes well before o wake up. Thanks
A question for mythbusters! In this day and age it won't harm the phone or battery...though some people disagree...I've always charged mine overnight...especially since the vibrant takes a little over 4 hours to charge!

That's what I thought, but I figured I would ask. Thanks
No problem leaving it plugged in overnight, according to this tweet from Samsung Service,

Is anyone else getting...

battery charged message at 95 or 97%?
defective battery?
Yeah me too. The only way I can get the battery to 100% is by using my spare battery charger. Trying to charge it in the phone always results in it maxxing out at like 96.

Yep..same here. I get it to charge to 100 by taking it off the charger for just a sec then putting it back on.

same. Usually 97%
Picked up a new charger, and it goes to 100% and beyond, and the LED light never turns blue!!!
Seems to charge faster, that extra .5A must be helping!
I mostly charge my phone when it's off and I always get 100%
Have you let your phone completely die yet. I had the same issue and really bad battery life (like 5 hours max). It helps to let the battery completely die every few days. Before I let it die the best I got was 97%. Now I get 100% all the time. Also my battery last closer to 10-12 hours, depending on use.

Yes, mine stopped at 95. I tried charging, turn off phone, put on charger for an hour, then turn on, got to 97. Traded batteries the same.
However, one reading says 100, one says 97 - the batteries have issues is all I can figure out. Might be internal software.
Normal for lithium-ion batteries and modern chargers.

so htc hero and palm pixi arent modern? cuz they dont have this problem

Well that was weird.

When I got home from work, I put my phone on my USB charger since it was at around 14%. This was about 5:30. When I went to sleep I checked on my phone, and it was at about 40%, which I thought was unusually slow, but I kept it on the charger. When I woke up this morning (on my own, luckily, since it's my alarm clock too) I noticed my phone was dead. But it was still plugged in.
The light wasn't blinking or on or anything, so I figured maybe it just froze and pulled the battery and tried turning it in.
Well it still didn't turn on, so I plugged it back in. Now the orange light is blinking which I gather means the battery is completely dead. Good fun indeed. Hopefully it'll eventually charge.
Once in a while mine refuses to charge and I have to reboot it for it to recognize the charger.

Yeah that's happened to me too
Ditto... I just shrugged it off as a fluke.
Happened to me once as well.

I wasn't at the time. Was running stock kernel w sense rom.
I have been running an SBC kernel. I heard all the rumblings about it being bad for the battery, and I guess that it might be true after all. I think my battery is well and truly shot. I got it to charge on the AC charger and it died within 4 hours again. I have an extended battery, that I am using now. I plan on jumping ship to the Nexus S when it is released (hopefully later this month), so I'm not too worried.
I'd been getting phenomenal battery life until then though (just before I had to charge it, it lasted 2 days and a few hours for example).
I thought it would die a slower death than basically immediately, I guess.

Is overcharging an issue on the xoom?

I normally let my phone charge overnight. I dont really worry about the battery deteriorating, I can easily swap it out with a new one. Is it bad to leave my xoom on the charger overnight? Or does it do a decent job of protecting the battery?

I've had the original Verizon U.S. Motorola XOOM since release Day 1, and have never had any issues with "over" charging.
Today's technology has come a long way to safely charge a rechargeable battery without the need to unplug it after charging is complete.
Currently I plug my XOOM in every night and let it charge overnight. It typically finishes charging within 1-3 hours, and then remains fully charged until the next morning.
Bottom line: No, you don't have to worry about damaging the battery or the XOOM by leaving it plugged in. lol
I also leave my xoom charging before i sleep.no problem here either.and its battery life is still the same
How long does the Xoom battery last?
Temari x Shikamaru
Ok

[Q] Battery Life ??

Well, i got the phone today for christmas. When i powered it up and plugged it into the charger it waas 86% on the phone. I charged it to 100% then tried it for 10 minutes and i noticed that it went down to around 86%.. And i was like WTF so i powered it in again and now its still in there..
I thought that the reason for this is that its a new batter and never been fully charged so it have to be charged for several hours on 100% for it to be fully loaded.. Is this true or what can cause this problem??
Thanks alot in advance!
Miikalsen
Let the battery discharge all the way before charging it up again.
It takes a while for a new battery to settle in.
By the way, nice Christmas present!
