[Q] Google apps issues

So i'm trying to install KaosGingerbread and cannot get Google apps installed.
I've tried the 12/18 one and it causes a boot loop. Then I tried the 12/28 ones and it flashes, loads, but the google apps dont show up. not even the setup wizard runs. anyone got any suggestions?
I've tried an older version of KGB, i've tried formatting my sdcard, deleted the /sdcard/android-secure folder. but to NO avail. i've looked at the celb thread because i saw a few posts about that a week ago but none of the solutions there worked.
the latest Gapps 12/28 doesnt even flash over celb but the 12/18 one does. anyone have an idea why this is happening?
EDIT: at the advice of someone from the CELB thread i installed clockwork via rom manager booted to recovery from the end button it boots to amon-ra, went into rom manager it boots to clockwork, rebooted because i accidentally went from wipe(because of the damned 9 no's before a yes) and double clicked to reboot and just battery pulled and it booted to ra again.....so i somehow have 2 recovery's installed.....
EDIT 2: okay when i clicked boot to recovery from rom manager again it went into ra, unpacked clockwork and then booted into clockwork.....(after saying it replaced the stock recovery)
EDIT 3: still didnt work going to try to find a different version of the 12/28 package and compare md5's
FWIW, what you are experiencing with Clockwork is the way it is supposed to work: you launch it from within ROM Manager. If you cold-boot the recovery partition, you will get Amon_RA. It didn't work that way in the distant past, but that's the way it works now.
Part of the confusion results from the fact that the program which manages the on-screen menus is /sbin/recovery - when Rom Manager says "replace the recovery", it means that program, not the entire recovery partition. That's why you see the Amon_RA menu appear briefly - and then it disappears and gets replaced by the ClockworkMod (/sbin/recovery) menu.
All of this happens in the booted ramdisk - so the the recovery partition is untouched, and ClockworkMod only lasts for that boot.
Try doing this :
1. flash KGB and before rebooting flash the gapps pack from recovery
2. reboot
3. enjoy kaos goodness (i also recommend having setcpu clocked to 710 to get the lag down)

flashing gapps before reboot causes a bootloop

Install rubix with rom manager?

I downloaded the rubix.zip and installed the rom manager .apk .... I run rom manager and whenever I click "boot to recovery" ...the phone just restarts and goes about its normal life. I understand I need to boot into "clockworkmod" ...but I only see the CWM online as a .zip...
What am I missing here..?

Are you still on froyo? ROM manager is of little use to Moto Droidx/2/pro/global/bionic/etc. You need to bootstrap recovery, reboot into recovery, and manually load files. It's not that hard.

Can't Flash ROM

I rooted my Droid 2 with Z4Root. I have ROM Manager Premium. I was able to create backup of current ROM. If I try to install a ROM from the SD card with ClockworkMod phone reboots back to normal screen, and stays Android 2.2. If I manually reboot into recovery the ROM install shows signature error. Recovery screen shows 4 options, not the 8 I've seen displayed in instructions on the web.
I'm not sure exactly how ROM manager is supposed to do it, but I wouldn't bother using it just yet.
Get the Koush's Droid 2 Boostrapper. Install it.
Open the program and hit Bootstrap recovery, tell superuser yes, then wait for the success message. After that, click on reboot recovery, and you should boot into ClockworkMod, where you can install a different ROM.

I've messed up

I have a ZTE Blade and want to flash a new rom. I have done it before but thistime I messed up. I was changing it to Gen 2 and once that was done I wiped the phone with the built in clockworkmod. I know I should have installed the clockwork mods that are provided by you guys. So when I try and flash with built in clockworkmod it says cannot find file intalation aborted. I tried to turn the phone on holding the up button and the android man stays on, which is right. But when I try and run the downloaded clockworkmod from command prompt it just comes up on my pc wanting to burn it as it is an img file. Please help I don't know what to do.
Now I have managed to install an stock rom, it finished installing and re-booted. Now all I get on is the android sign and thats it.

[Q] Nook always boots into recovery

I had my Nook go into SOD today and hard powered it down and rebooted. I got stuck in a boot loop so attempted to boot to recovery and wipe cache/dalvik-cache.
After doing this and attempting to reboot, I'm getting the boot menu that is always sending me back into Clockwork Recovery. Even after powering up with Power + n and selecting to boot from emmc and standard boot, it's still sending me into Clockwork Recovery.
I'm completely lost on why this is happening to me. I'd updated to the latest Clockwork Recovery through ROM manager a few days ago and haven't had any issues up to this point aside the random SOD.
Anyone have any tips/tricks that might help me out?
there is a zip file floating around here in one of these posts that you can flash from sd card that will basically "break" CWM.
it'll then allow the nook to boot up normally. You can then reinstall CWM. let me see if I can find it.

found it.

read the discussion on that link, the zip is in the 3rd or 4th post.
This happened to me when I first got my nook for other reasons (installed wrong version of CWM basically) and running the zip got me out of the boot loop.
