I downloaded the rubix.zip and installed the rom manager .apk .... I run rom manager and whenever I click "boot to recovery" ...the phone just restarts and goes about its normal life. I understand I need to boot into "clockworkmod" ...but I only see the CWM online as a .zip...
What am I missing here..?

Are you still on froyo? ROM manager is of little use to Moto Droidx/2/pro/global/bionic/etc. You need to bootstrap recovery, reboot into recovery, and manually load files. It's not that hard.

I've been trying to help a friend flash ROM's to his X. We've installed the paid Bootstrap and Rom Manager. We then utilized the bootstrap utility, and flashed clockworkmod recovery. We then go to the Download rom section of Rom Manager and choose FlyX, it downloads, we then check backup current rom, and wipe data, continue. The phone attempts to boot into clockworkmod but wont. It does the update package part, fails, and then reboots normally. I should also note that when I attempt to boot into clockworkmod recovery via bootstrap it is successful. Could I find the downloaded Rom via the menu in clockworkmod and install it that way? Is there a step in installing Clockworkmod that I'm missing? I've been checking the forums but all I can find for solutions is people saying to install bootstrap again. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both programs twice and nothing has changed. Thanks so much in advance for the help.
open rom manager and click on flash clockworkmod recovery.
everything you download with rom manager goes into the /clockworkmod/download folder on your mem card.
Tried that.didn't work.

You need to open up Bootstrap and select the top option... then you can proceed to Rom Manager.......Rom Manager cannot flash CW onto the DroidX that why we need Koush's Droidx Bootstrapper. Give that a try also Note i hope that you have booted into CW and made a Nandroid backup of your friends current phone state.. If that still doesnt work for you.. download the ROM off a forum and do it manually.

YOu need to download Koush bootstrap http://koush.tandtgaming.com//motorola/droidx/DroidXBootstrap.apk
So after I gain root, I open Bootstrap? I then hit the "Bootstrap Recovery" button? Then I open Rom Manager and click "flash the latest ClockworkMod Recovery", which I beleive is 2.5.0.7? Do I hit the "Reboot Recovery" button in Bootstrap after I flash the latest CW recovery?
that will get you into clockwork mod yes.
This helped, thanks everyone

Since im not allowed to post this anywhere else here it is. I cant get rom manager to boot directly to the red recovery. Therefore I can no longer download roms and stuff thru rom manager . I see posts about deleting and renaming the update file in the clockwork folder on the sd card . Can anyone clarify this more ?

You can still download through rom manager, but you have to manually boot into recovery and browse for the zip. They are on the sdcard in clockworkmod/download.
In the cloclworkmod folder, delete "recovery-update.zip", copy your red CWM update.zip into this folder and rename it to "recovery-update.zip"
Is this in the root of the clockwork folder ? because i see a file called recovery in there . I put it in there and it didnt work

1) Get a working clockwork mod .ZIP file.
2) Put that file in two places:
/sdcard/update.zip
/sdcard/clockwork/recovery-update.zip
ROM Manager --> Reboot to Recovery Mode should load /sdcard/clockwork/recovery-update.zip
Phone Desktop --> Hold down power button --> Reboot to Recovery should load /sdcard/update.zip
If for whatever reason, you are not rebooting directly into Clockwork Mod Recovery (and booting into the stock Samsung recovery), just choose menu option: apply sdcard:update.zip. It will bring you into Clockwork Mod.
Note that if you are running a DL30 ROM, and recently flashed / updated Clockwork Mod Recovery through ROM Manager, then something screwed up. For whatever reason, ROM Manager downgraded Clockwork Mod Recovery from v2.5.1.0 --> v2.5.0.4. That version will not play nicely with DL30 ROMs. You will need to find a CWMR that works with DL30, and manually place it in the two locations specified above.
I rooted my Droid 2 with Z4Root. I have ROM Manager Premium. I was able to create backup of current ROM. If I try to install a ROM from the SD card with ClockworkMod phone reboots back to normal screen, and stays Android 2.2. If I manually reboot into recovery the ROM install shows signature error. Recovery screen shows 4 options, not the 8 I've seen displayed in instructions on the web.
I'm not sure exactly how ROM manager is supposed to do it, but I wouldn't bother using it just yet.
Get the Koush's Droid 2 Boostrapper. Install it.
Open the program and hit Bootstrap recovery, tell superuser yes, then wait for the success message. After that, click on reboot recovery, and you should boot into ClockworkMod, where you can install a different ROM.
I know there are many of these threads but I can not find a answer to my problems. I am on Nexus Beam V2.1.1. ICS 4.0.1 and no matter what I do I can not get into recovery. I have tried through Terminal Emulator, CMD fastboot, and Rom Manager. I have the ADB drivers installed but what ever method I use just doesn't fix my issues. Please help, thank you and Merry Christmas.
Edit: Btw I have a At&t nexus s
have you tried reflashing it? it may have been uninstalled somehow. If you power down, hold vol up + power to boot into fastboot....does it say recovery is installed?? If not, just use rom manager to reflash it
What hp420 said.
If you need cwm, just install Rom Manager from the market, use it to flash cwm from within the app, then uninstall rom manager (because it's useless crap).
You may need to rename or remove the stock recovery from system if your rom included it, or it will keep over-writing cwm.

in my experiences its usually flashing cwm from rom manager that causes issues getting into recovery. every time i have tried upgrading cwm from rom manager i cant boot into recovery. i have to use fastboot to flash it manually.

Have you tried flashing it twice in succession? It typically doesn't work well flashing it only once.
Recently having a problem using Rom Manager. Have downloaded clockwork recovery.
When using "Reboot into Recovery" or "Backup Current ROM" from ROM Manager it takes me to the green recovery and stops.
If I then go to "Advanced" followed by "Reboot Recovery" I then get the red ClockworkMod Recovery.
If I use the power button (Bionix 1.3.1) and chose "Recovery" it then goes to the proper "Red" recovery.
I have been using ROM Manager for approximately a year to do backups and restores, but not it seems not to be "associated or connected" with the clockworkmod recovery.
Any advice? I recently wiped cache and dalvik. Was this a mistake?
I have uninstalled and re-installed ROM Manager but had the same results afterwards.
Thanks,
rblancrt
No ideas?
No one else had this problem before?
If I select backup current rom from ROM Manger it goes to the green recovery. If I then reboot recovery it goes to the red recovery.
Worked fine for probably a year.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
ROM Manager still not working properly
Thought I would try again.
When I select "Backup current ROM" from ROM Manager my phone goes to the green recovery where I have to scroll through and select backup.
Part of the purpose of ROM manager is that it is a front-end application for CWM, but it is not working as such.
Anyone know anything more about the details of how ROM manager works? I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times but it doesn't change anything.
Have been using it for almost a year with no problems until recently.
Thanks for any info.
And after the backup is complete it goes back to the green recovery and I have to select reboot system. ROM Manager used to and should do these things automatically.
Problem solved?
Well, I guess I will never know what happened but through a "magical" combination of updates and reboots, and who knows, it began working properly again today.
Anyone has a problem with the free version?
I couldn't install it after ODIN.

You can pull a copy of it from my signature. It is an update.zip and in my dropbox so it will always be there when you need it.
up...........................
Thanks, Woodrube. Actually, I went to get the newest Rom Manager v4.8.3 from 4shared.com. Everything is OK now.
