Srsly? I was guessing.
And you put three dots after Taiwan...
Are you srs?

yes very serious

Downgrade using recovery by renaming the TW .13 FOTA update with the same filename described in flashing the leaked 3.1 and you should be good, keep in mind that you might need to do a factory reset or FCs will repeatedly happen.
To the guy who's obviously trolling, don't say anything if you have nothing useful to say.

thanks for yr help

I have similar problem, should be ww (UK version), but flashed the 3.1 US version.
I understand the response about downgrading, but can not find the file I need.
I assume I am looking for EP101_SUPDATE.zip with a ww version in it.

Just unzip the WW 3.1 update and rename the zip inside /ASUS/Update/ to EP101_SDUPDATE.zip and use the method I described above.

Thanks for quick reply.
That worked fine.

I have a TB SKU, although I am not sure what a SKU is exactly, but it has something to do with your region, alright.
TB SKU is for Belgium, and Belgium has some weird regulations, so that Android upgrades come out later than for the rest of Europe. Now, is it safe to just take the WW SKU, rename it to EP101_SDUPDATE.zip, put it on the SD card, go into regular recovery mode and flash it?
Rooting is a good alternative of course (got su on my HTC Hero, easy stuff), but I don't have the urge to achieve root unless I actually need to. Thanks in advance, and maybe any of my country mates would share their experience.

Yes it should be fine. I would however try to locate a TB region FOTA update before doing anything just to make sure you have something to fall back on in case you need RMA (since I'm pretty sure they would consider your warranty void if you flash a different region firmware too)
It is not confirmed though as to how this will affect OTA updates pushed by ASUS later on. If they push according to MAC address, then it can be assumed they have a record of which MAC address is which SKU, so it might push the Belgium OTA update which won't let you update if you're on WW, but that is just speculation. If it comes to that point, just use nvflash method and root. You can easily unroot it too.

did you look on the sdcard for an update.zip ?
Most likely it is on the /cache partition. More importantly, in your log will be the URL, search for ota.
I'm on Acer_A500_1.112.01_EMEA_CUS7 - nothing here yet
No Update Here Either
A500 from Best Buy bought on May 3 - has FW: Acer_A500_1.104.02_Com_Gen 1
Has anybody deciphered Acer's code for FW Labeling?

Ditto here in Texas from BB: 1.1104.02_com_gen1
No OTA yet even after forcing it to check.
Ken.
Today I received my Acer A500 in Germany, purchased from Amazon through preorder. It's the first Honeycomb to hit the german mass market.
I have Acer_A500_1.112.01_EMEA_CUS7
The "E" sounds like it stands for "european" or "Europe" to me, however the only localization I can choose in Settings is "german", while on my other Android devices (HTC phones) the ROMs always contain multiple localizations (or even worldwide like *WWE* ones).
I hope this helps, just started digging through the device and going to root it soon.
If anyone needs any further info regarding this version, which seems to be newer than those being OTA'ed to US customers let me know.
FWIW, I have not yet had any random screen turn-ons so maybe they fixed that.
ugh I need this zip my acer is messed up since I tried that chinese update.zip!

Dear all,
there is nothing in "/chach" and on the SDCard.
I had a look into it with the "Rootexplorer" and commandline, nothing.
I also searched with "Rootexplorer" for "*.zip" but nothing that is coming from me.
Do they maybe use a "hidden" mount?
Where can i find the logs?
did u reboot?
cache may be cleared while rebooting

Hi,
yes i did reboot, but the system is still telling me that it want to perform the update and not that it want to downlaod something again.

I'm not 100% sure that's true - latest OTA I've recieved in US is .11 - I think (unless my OTA broke after .11) that the .3x, .4x versions are foriegn versions.

Gen1 is what my tablet came with, and that's a Gen1 release. Just because they haven't hit you yet doesn't mean others haven't received it yet. The GPS.conf file says north America, so that pretty much confirms it!

[CLOSED] New update

I just revieved information that I have system update for my Transformer. I'm using Prime ROM, so I don't want to update but do you think it's ICS?
edit: I'm from Poland, I have B40 serial number. How can I download the update without updating?

as it has been said multiple times before asus updates will not install on even rooted roms so if you download it then pull it out of your /asus folder and post the build number or the build.prop we can see if it is or not. there have been multiple reports of updates on prime and they ahve always just been .21 or .23 i think (Numbers might be wrong)
checking on unrooted
edit: no updates
I closed the notification and can't get it back now.

I think the devs should leave the orig build info in the tab and just add on their sig to it for fallback reference.

That's not possible because each dev uses whichever build they want to base their rom off of. For example, your original stock firmware may be US, but developer1 uses ww base. Once you flash that rom, your tf will now be based on ww and there is absolutely no way of telling what was on their prior to because flashing the new rom will wipe and override any information from your previous rom.

Understand, so how will one do an update through ota? I'm sure Asus will have a hard time reconciling a tab's sku/serial conflict. I'm all for innovation and better ideas but if a tablet's profile is modified beyond recognition, it could wind up getting bricked if someone tries a manual update.
I wonder if there's any way to cross reference a serial to an sku? I don't see anything helpful at Asus' website.

If you have a custom ROM and/or custom recovery, the OTA will fail anyway.

GT-N8013 and German 4.1.1 update

Hello all,
I have the GT-N8013 (US Version), and decided I wanted to get Jelly Bean on it, since Samsung hasn't really said anything about an update for the USA.
I just flashed the German 4.1.1 ODIN last night as per this thread. I was under the impression this would not affect the binary counter or the firmware status. However, my binary count is now 2 (I've never flashed anything else), and the firmware status is Custom, rather than Samsung Official/Normal.
As such, I can no longer receive OTA updates for this device. I wanted to keep myself in a position where I could still get OTA updates one way or another.
I've seen things about changing the CSC, but I'm not sure I want to wipe the device, especially if I wouldn't be guaranteed to get OTA updates afterwards. (Or would it be guaranteed that OTAs would work if I changed the CSC to DBT...?)
What is the best course of action to get back to Samsung Official/Normal status (USA or German), or can it even be done?
(If I can't get back to Samsung Official, is there somewhere to download GT-N8010 German update.zip files, rather than the 1GB ODIN files?)
Thanks in advance for any help!
You'll need to root and then use TriangleAway to reset your counter. Then you can unroot and reflash official 4.1.1 from sammobile.com or just keep your root. Either way, you have to root to reset your counter. I recommend ExynosAbuse. As for OTA updates, you'll have to unroot and flash back to stock for that. To accomplish this, I recommend bypassing ODIN and using MobileODIN to flash, just in case the 8010 firmware is what tripped your counter to begin with... you know, cause you put it on an 8013.

Strange - Mine didn't do that for 4.11 or 4.1.2. It only changed when I rooted it. How are you checking that the Binary count is 2?

This will be because there is a mismatch between the devices CSC and the Firmware that is installed. You WILL lose all data if you wipe the device (Yes I've done it - No ROMS for UAE either)

Personally I'd wait a few days. JB is rolling out now, and I don't really believe that the US (8013) version will be that long behind the others. So if you can wait, then just download the 8013 JB ROM when it arrives, flash it with Odin and you will be back to official. I would tend to ignore the Binary count for now (see question above) and then fix it when you get the 8013 JB and your ready to go "Official"
Thanks for the replies!

I'm just looking at the information at the top left of the screen when the device is in download mode.
Thanks for pointing me to ExynosAbuse. That will definitely make life easier when I go to reset the binary counter!
I'll probably just wait to flash an 8013 JB ROM once one is available. The 8010 firmware doesn't have 5GHz WiFi support, which I use frequently.
Thanks for the advice!

That's funny. My 8013 on 8010 firmware works perfectly on 5 GHz wireless n.

Same thing happened to me. My counter is up to 2 now, one for the German ICS and one for the German JB.
My hypothesis is that you can swap ROMS within the same model - so any 8010 ROM works fine on any 8010 without upping the count, but that going between models (8010 -> 8013) trips the counter.
However, as far as I can tell, everything works fine except the ability to update OTA and it might even be better since you're getting the version that's not been modified for the US market to get past the legal issues with Apple.
The only iffy part is that you're going to be stuck relying on XDA for updates.. but to be honest, the gang here has been pretty reliable in that area for years.

I also installed the 8010 JB and now wi-fi direct between my GS3 and the Note doesn't work anymore.
I'm not rooted, will having the flash counter at 2, if I have an official rom flashed (and it says official in download mode), prevent me from getting an OTA?

WiFi issue are VERY common when flashing roms from different regions. Every country has different frequencies & bands that can be used publicly & in the UK & Germany, they differ from here in the US. If you change your CSC files in system to identify as an en_US device, or more precisely, change the line in the wifi config file from ccode=gb to ccode=ALL , you will then get 5Ghz. I have no issues with AllShare or WiFi direct, but I changed the wifi config files & edited the csc files to show XAR region with all wifi channels open (ccode=ALL).
BTW, there was an 4.1.1 region XAR leak recently, a few days ago I think. I am also pretty sure someone, maybe Darkman, released a deodexed version of it. There are also dumps of it in the Dev section of the Note 10.1 forums.
