YAY MY STORY WAS POSTED TO ANDROID GUYS!!!
UPDATED: So I had to rush home after class and give everyone that definate answer that they long. This was in my email as I finally got a STRAIGHT answer from Google to the question
"Will the people that did the manual update to Froyo still receive the OTA, and did it void the warrenty? Can I get a straight Answer?"
Hi,
The answer is yes and no, respectively. When 2.2 (Froyo) is sent via OTA, everybody will get it, including those who have already manually updated to Froyo. No, your warranty is not voided by manually updating to Froyo. But we do recommend waiting for the OTA if you're still on 2.1 / Eclair.
Cheers,
Ben

Origonal Post:
I found some evidence that supports, all manual user will get the OTA, even if you updated manually.
Hi all,
Thanks for the responses!
Just wanted to give a heads up that the build floating around is not the official Froyo release. You will get an automatic notification when we OTA the build, no need to manually download it. You will still get the automatic notification if the official release is a newer version than the one you have, so don't sweat...but I'd highly recommend waiting for our official release
@Bhushan4181: You will get the OTA update as long as you are connected to the internet and can communicate with Google servers.
We are striving hard to OTA the build to you ASAP, thanks for your patience!
Gaurav.

From what I am TOLD as long as your manual update came from GOOGLE than it is still a LEGIT and offical update, just not the final, therefor you HAVE NOT voided your warrenty, and will most likely get the OTA so don't panic
P.S Those who did the manual update(me included) I would not worry about trying to roll back to 2.1. They sent out a test build via ota to testers, and when the final build comes i'm sure EVERYONE will get the OTA as it will have a different signature and what-not. How else would they get the final build to the testers?
Beautiful. Only thing missing now is a release date :|
Good find, I think its a no brainer but confirmation is good for some folks that were worried.

Ya even I was a little tweaked. Not saying we wouldn't be able to just flash it anyhow even if you are NON root. But there was alot of mixed answers not only here but all over the net, and some people were freaking out

It appears, according to the quote ' We are striving hard to OTA the build to you ASAP, thanks for your patience!' that the build is complete and it may only be the OTA to be sorted.
I hope so anyway

There is no question that there must be a newer version of froyo thats coming out. I say that because every forum I visit on this site (and other sites) have people complaining that this and that doesn't work (anymore).

I knew there would be at least one person that would point something out to try to kill the post cause they didn't find it first. Obviously it will be newer. The file that was MANUALLY downloaded was available to the media and what not, so what, they are never gonna get the final OTA. Its common sense. And like I siad even if by what slim chance you don't get the OTA, you will be able to push it manually.
Way to try to kill a post
BTW...

I dont find any good reason to give/update the press or the "preview phones" some unfinished or still bugged version of 2.2
For what ? so that they review it (Froyo) and write down all the bad or not working things ... it makes no sense , at least for me ...

I don't claim to know what happened, but I'm damn sure there is more to all of this.
I cannot believe the degree to which Google has fumbled this Froyo release. They let us all think we might get it at I/O and look where we are now.....another week later...all anyone has gotten is a broken version.
I said it before and I'll say it again: Mickey Mouse time in Mountain View

Since I'm still semi new to Android, you miss out on OTA updates if you're rooted right? Does that also mean you miss out if your bootloader is unlocked?

And how many of those things are 3rd party apps that still need to be updated for 2.2 compatibility?
Dude hes got a point. You posted something that had Nothing to do with the topic at hand. We all already knew the info you posted. Thats what the whole thread was about.
Can somebody suggest where I can get the official ROMs especially european ROM since I see lots of asian firmwares being upgraded to European firmwares in many threads in this forum.
Also I want to how I can change the firmware to these european FW without rooting. Somebody please suggest step by step directions please.
I am having a singtel fw and need to remove the singtel animation at startup and my ver number is JE9 as I see most of the people are using JF versions which seem to be more recent than what I have.
And after changing it I should still be able to upgrade to froyo officially when it releases.
thanks
Sany

The site is not an official Samsung's sponsor site, but the ROMs are official. Though, from what I have learned, not all the official ROM can be found there.
The only official EU rom at this time is JF3 and they just posted that today. Official means released by samsung. No one has clarified who/what samsung-firmwares.com really is but those newer roms are definitely not official. This doesn't mean they aren't great especially since now we can flash back to the stock firmware if we need it for warranty purposes.

They are not officially available to the public so there's nothing official about them. If I assume that they are the same files used when flashing the phones that are distributed around the world I guess they could be called "shipping" ROMs, but that doesn't make them more official than the updates.

It is "official" enough for me. When used the ROM found at their site, I manage to restore SGS to default and initial state. It even comes with all the customisations that are specially designed for the local operator I subscribed to. I don't really want to know nor do I care how the owner of the site manage to access these ROM files.

We need wait from Samsung though...
At least this clear out some misinformation regarding the ROM files at their site.
I am getting more confused now:
What are 'stock ROMs' then and what are those that are called 'official ROMs' if samsung has not released them or posted them and where are these sourced from.
My fw is JE9 asian, although I can see that it looks old when I see JF4 already being talked about, dont know how this supercedes my JE9 when samsung has not released an update? And I dont want to risk flashing those different so called official ROMs if samsung tomorrow devices some way of tracking that these are ROM that did not ship with the device and not allow me to upgrade to froyo - so i think i will rather wait.

so i start using my xoom today, which is the wifi version, rooted on 3.2, and the box pops up and tells me there is another system update. this struck me as odd, because i never saw anything about another system update on xda or xoomforums or anywhere els. could this be an error? or is there really another update? and if there is an update, what are the new features?
thanks
Did you accept and install the update? If so, check your OS build number. The current version is HTJ85B.

If you are rooted on HC3.2, I'm not sure why you would get notification of the update, but that's the latest, and likely to be the last of the Honeycomb version.

I had the same thing fist time I booted to 3.2. I suspect it's just the ota 3.2 which was already downloaded to your Xoom and it's got a bit confused because it's not installed that download. Anyway, I rejected the update and it's not popped back up since.

Those who are using Indian soak test before and now using official release in India.... Do you notice any changes?
Sent from my XT1068/69 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Soak Testers didn't get the final OTA and will not get it. Reason is, the final OTA rolled out today is the same one soak testers got. They just got it a little early. You can see in the screenshots that everything under About Phone is same in soak test version and final version.
So does this in theory then mean that those of us who installed the captured soak test from the other thread will not need to use any other captures in the future and be able to use the ota update just fine without any chances of bricks etc

I mean we'll be able to download ota's without worries of getting our phones bricked because of it being from soak. I remember reading the other day someone was talking about how if we want to be able to use ota we'd have to use a stable capture first in order to be able to use ota. It seems that won't be an issue though since soak and stable are the same with just different release dates so we shouldn't have to worry about that right? Sorry for being silly here. I'm not exactly an ape man when it comes to tech but I'm not feeling the need to fiddle around with roms and bootloaders on this phone when I shouldn't really need to

Well, it was me who said that the other day. That time the official update hadn't rolled out and we thought it would be a newer system version. But, now that it's released; we now know that it is the exact same OTA, so no problems for future updates either. It's like we never installed soak.

Yea i suspected something like that was going on when I saw that new thread about the stable and people were saying everything's exactly the same but just wanted some sort of confirmation. Now the only thing that I don't know if it'll affect anything in the future is that my build number on 4.4.4 was kxb now it's lxb (unless k stands for kitkat and l for lolipop lol. dunno) but i don't think it would be a problem since the system version has only the numbers changed and everything else is as it was on kitkat. Seems like the indian release works on european xt1068's as well contrary to what I read some people were saying but I guess it depends on some things...

That´s a mystery for sure!
The only difference between the indian and the european XT1068 is the fact, that the indian version has 16 gb of memory, european model has 8gb.
But there must be something more that differs! In europe even a soaktest is rumored, surveys were sent,so everthing looks like we have to wait in europe for a few more days/weeks.
But why? In another thread I considered that Motorola is afraid of being taken to court or something by european users if something doesn´t work right. European laws are tough. Isn´t that a bit far out?
Or are there any technical differences between these models which are barely known?

Aside from the ram I highly doubt there's any real difference since when I got mine in the first few days of fiddling around it had the hindi, korean and pinyin keyboards which i disabled so I don't think that would be the case....I mean why would most eu phones need these inputs from the get go. As far as laws go I can't really see much reasoning there either since it's a 130-50eu phone so they can't really have much to complain and unless it somehow magically bricks the device I doubt there would be many if any at all issues...Dunno doe. I'm not motorola so i have no idea what's going on through their heads but it's just kinda silly to me considering that everything's running fine on mine at least without any factory resets or anything....could be just me doe. On another note I think one of my little gripes about lollipop is that it doesn't hide the signal bar for my secondary sim when it's inactive and just shows it. Is this just for me or does everyone have that cuz I didn't pay attention to that on screenshots the last few days

Weird though, I have installed the same version, but using a .zip captured by one soak tester. How could the version be different, when the update is same?

If same as me (should be, in Australia as well), it's NPN25.137-67. I was on -15 beforehand. Had to check manually via Settings --> System updates as there was no automated notification, or at least not yet. Therefore if you're still on an older update i'd wait before installing anything manually - the official OTA can't be far away.
