Well, if it is the Vibe4g, i'll be damn well be pissed #NeverAgain at Samsung.
Then really, this Vibrant we have are really "Outdated" (TMo did say it is, and not 'selling' this phone because of the upcoming 4g Galaxy S)
Now its an i9000 with 4g
I'm not too worried, I went on my desktop from a single to duo core, then a quad, and now a 8cpu they are coming out toward the end of the year a 16 core......
The point is they will always keep improving and dole out the upgrades bit by bit to max their profit......... that's the capitalist way...... and just think-- We taught them how to do this......
I ll get a duo core when it comes out, but until then, I love the vibrant. It is a great phone

Well said!
When vibrant came out last year, I bought it not because the rumored 2.2 coming-soon update, but for that the SAMOLED screen is FABULOUS, just as any visual animal would do. So when the next Galaxy phone comes out with dual core and SAMOLED+? Hey, I'll be in the line.
I love the vibrant. With KA6 updated through Kies Mini and voodoo lag-fix, I'm a happy man.
Can't wait to see how the dual core phones chew up the battery.
These new dual cores look sweet, but I'm going to wait until the next gen that comes with Honeycomb.
We know that this current crop of dual core phones are going to release with an OS that doesn't even properly support dual core CPUs. So basically a ton of first adopters are going to buy these phones and fine they're only marginally better performers (if at all) than the current single core phones.
And then you're going to read the incessant whining on XDA about "how could they release a phone without an OS that properly supports its greatest hardware advantage," and then when 3.0 does drop, it's going to be weeks, if not months, of whining and hairpulling for the update or port.
Not me. I'm going to wait for a dual core that ships with 3.0, probably later this year. That way I won't end up buying another phone that is gimped stock.
I guarantee, if you buy one of these first gen dual cores, you will be disappointed and suffer anguish as you keep hitting F5 for any news about a Honeycomb update.

100% agree. Not going to buy one tell the next sets of Dual cores come out. with at least HC.
I can't wait for 8-core 128 bit cells phones so I can do scientific computing while I'm waiting in line for coffee! Just kidding, but the point I'm trying to make is to question what advantage it would serve to dump a Vibrant--which has such a nice screen and gpu--just to have a faster cpu. What do you all think?

Have anyone ever think about an Overclock dual core on a phone. My 1 ghz vibrant is now OCing at 1.4ghz and stable and its fast as ever with no lagfix. Just imagine a 1.4 ghz dual core.

I don't think it will come out with a faster cpu about 1 gig just dual which in sense will be faster. It will be more for multi tasking I don't see myself using 10 or 20 apps at once to make use of it.

But the point is why? It is fun to see how far you can push it. But for day to day use, what purpose does it serve overclocking a cpu without increased cooling?

Ya thats nice and all but lack of support for the vibrant left me never ever wanting a samsung phone again. Seems like all the original problems have been fixed finally on my vibrant but touchwiz is still crap (to me) and who knows if samsung will do the same thing with the Galaxy S II. It looks to be an amazing phone but if its plagued like the first gen then ill have to pass.

As far as I can see with all the phones I looked at the S2 is still the winner, and I do not care about Samsung support, since I root, edit and modify ALL my electronics. XDA , the Devs and the community at large is the only support I need. Just need good hardware, and the S2 is exactly that.

Man, who really cares about a 3000+ quadrant? I do not know what mine is but everything loads up and runs as at a very fast and respectable time on my Vibrant. No doubt that 2.3 optimizes the hummingbird cpu which would make things even faster but I believe rather than focusing on increasing quadrant and all those score benchmarks, Samsung should work on other aspects of the phone such as setting the benchmark on excellent battery life and other parts of the phone.

lol, thats an old video. Samsung even stated it was pre release unfinished software that wasnt properly optimized for the chipset. That was back when the SGS2 was only hitting like 1600 Quads. Every review out now for even the unfinished 1ghz (its launching at 1.2ghz) says its lag free and fast as all heckity-do-da. The 3000+ quad score is a reflection of that. No worries!!
As far as battery, its a 1650mhz battery in there instead of the 1500 in the SGS and the dual cores are supposed to be better on battery life, so *hopefully* it should improve it a bit over current stuff.
Im totally stoked for it. The phone comes with so many options and things it can do it should keep us busy tinkering with it for a while to come.
I agree it will be the best phone of 2011 unless they actually get production tegra3's out the door before the end of the year.... then it will still be the best.. just not the most powerful..

A quadrant score says it all? Quadrant has proven to be inaccurate reflection of use responsiveness. And HTC makes very good hardware. You're very opinionated, and that article is far from fact. Though it looks nice it did lag in the video.

Im not sure what's worse, pantech or kyocera. I think pantech phones would be alright if the UI was better.

I said this a couple of weeks ago. By the time the 3D comes out there will be 3 or 4 more phones with better specs set to drop a couple weeks/months later. Look at the Samsung phone that just leaked on Tmobile.. the Hercules.

Your point was by the time the 3d is out, there will be faster devices out. You then referenced the Hercules, which will most likely have near same performance of the 3d, but probably borked support from Samsung.

Not sure this is exactly a new thing, across the board as a whole. Always something better around the corner. And what's there to be bothered about something being better than something you don't even own yet ... ? Whether or not it is 'entirely' better or 'marginally' better.

Yup the evo 3d is undervolted to 1.2 ghz for minimum battery drain but will be overclocked soon enough, just look at the g2 overclock threads to see the potential qualcomm chips have.
After a year with my evo, I believe I can easily wait until next year to upgrade since every phone coming out has specs bumps and nothing else . Just because a better spec laptop comes out doesn't mean to run out and get it.
It will be hard but I'm sure ill hold off on the evo 3d and get the next gen evo next july.
What's the point of this thread? The EVO3D has a better screen, higher resolution, and although the clock speed is 1.2 gigahertz, it will easily be able to overclock significantly higher.
The G2, as someone else mentioned, has been overclocked up to 2 gigahertz. A G2, which has an older chipset and has a stock speed of merely 800 MHz.
Disappointing? Smaller battery, no fingerprint sensor and no tegra. The battery cover does look better though. I could go both ways on dedicated camera button. Everything else is kind of meh.

yes, a big dissappointment. seems like a step back, not forward in every way. I thought they would do a Photon 4G equivalent with a bigger screen etc? That looks like a great device and an improvement over our atrix. Seems like the Atrix 2 is slower, smaller battery (one of the best selling points on the atrix IMHO) and doesnt make a generation jump to LTE etc.
it does ave 4.3 inch screen
Im going for a Samsung Note next.

All that will do is make your pocket warmer when you play pocket Android in the winter through heat generated with no active cooling. We don't even utilize 2 cores at the moment, so 4 cores is absolutely useless other than epeen.

You would think motorola would capitalize on webtop and create a market for "lapdocks". Their half assed "try" is pitiful. They could create a flagship phone with a higher clocked dual core and two gigs of ram. Hell, as things are, the other gig of ram could be accessible by webtop only so you double data rate and it doesnt eat battery having to power that ram and not utilizing it. Perhaps with ics and the better spec'd phones coming soon something might happen.

I second this, main reason I hated my atrix was cause of the screen, if I can get my hands on one, I would swap it out for my atrix instantly.
The Bionic had an "operational" prototype back in Feb but it just got released this month (and looking completely different with different hardware). The same could be said about this. The battery, the processor, the screen, LTE, design, etc. could all be left to change when this phone actually reaches store shelves. But to even think that Motorola goes through the trouble with testing a device that is this lackluster spec-wise, and is supposed to be a successor, leaves me to believe that their marketing structure is based off of disseminating features/hardware across as many devices as possible to maximize profit which is one of the reasons I will not be buying another Moto phone anytime soon.

All that will do is make your pocket warmer when you play pocket Android in the winter through heat generated with no active cooling. We don't even utilize 2 cores at the moment, so 4 cores is absolutely useless other than epeen.

I agree with everything you said, but is that any different than say HTC and all their "cookie cutter" sequel phones that they crank out with the same battery issues?
Too many upcoming phones out there, but no dominant successor right now IMO...

Did everyone forget Google bought moto?? I know it was for patenting rights, but I think they will make pure Google phones in the future now. Not all, but atleast some.
I piss excellence
I read an article about a new LG phone coming out soon that looks bad ass! Basically the same as atrix but with the new Tegra, they said 1.2 or 1.5. It also had the slide out kb and 1080P recording which is probably pretty standard with new phones now. Nvidia was also saying that we should start seeing quad core phones by end of 1Q 2012. That would be nice.

it would have to be one amazing machine for me to give up on this atrix
as far as im concerned this thing is wayyy ahead of its time therefor future proof for atleast 5 years wait n see! illbeit
i would like a bigger screen a multi cores with 4gig proscesser (someday)!

Lol, not 5 years, but I can keep my Atrix for at least one more year with what AT&T have in mind for its lineup

I am hoping this event sparks a reaction with samsung which will be in our favor. Never know we might get something better in jelly bean a surprise or something lol Ay If I was samsung thats exactly what I would do, I'd hide it from all the leaks until the official is out and surprise everyone and because of all the hype on how good JB is, it will go news wide and give apple an even better competition. More Samsung sales equals less apple sales
What event?
the Apple event is all hype. One thing is for sure, we won't be impressed by the specs cause that's what android does best, having. The best specs.
I can't wait for this announcement to be over so we can put this thing behind us and look Forward to greater things to come.

Clearly not the best keyboard though!
Let's wait and see. I don't think they manage to blow us away, but who knows...
By the way, you could have just replied here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883007

I genuinely hope Apple delivers something amazing
It will kick the others into developing stuff which is even better!

i was actually anticipating replies on samsungs reaction prediction if any
"I hope this event sparks samsung to do something"
You mean like make the best phones on the planet right now, already doing that.
3 UK tweeted today that JB would be out in October on SGS3
#ThreeSoftwareUpdate @SamsungMobileUK announce Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) available on the #GalaxySIII from Oct-when we have info we’ll tweet. -- ThreeUK (@ThreeUK)
So that's something at least.
Is obvious that if someone start to annunce as official, all blogs follow that news.. But i want to see the official comunicate from samsung and not CNET sh** info

Well I think iPhone 5 will win in....
Camera (Unless they use iPhone 4S camera again then it will be on par with S3 and Note 2 which is not so likely...)
Graphic (PowerVR... Again unless they use 543MP2 again...)
you should be happy with the fact that samsung has done well enough to satisfy their customers, they are learning fast. Expecting too much from them is totally unfair

8mp or 12 mp really only means that the 12mp is a larger photo.
People are falling for that myth that more megapixels equals better well have a read through this
http://www.digital-photo-secrets.com/tip/333/do-more-megapixels-mean-better-photo-quality/
And with the graphics it will have to catch up a fair bit and then some more to be better
GPU battle http://androidandme.com/2012/05/sma...xy-s-iii-defeats-iphone-4s-in-gpu-benchmarks/
and yes
I am happy with samsung but theres room for more happiness

About camera....
GS3 and 4S is using the same camera module. If Apple does not upgrade, it should be already about S3's camera standards.... Its not about MP I am talking... Of cos for iPhone 5 if they changed the camera, it would not be lousier than the 4S's camera... So its a high chance it can beat S3 in camera...
About GPU...
PowerVR 543MP2 is inside the 4S. I didn't say it beats S3's Mali 400. Apple loves to use PowerVR graphics. And if they upgrade to lets say... 543MP4 (iPad 3's GPU), it will beat the hell out of Mali 400 and Adreno 320.... And getting 543MP4 is very likely IMO...
I was thinking the same thing this morning.
It would be so cool if Samsung would do an official release of JB for the S III later today or tomorrow morning... that would steal all the lights and attention from Apple.
Seriously... if Samsung did that, it would really piss Apple off.

No. SGS3 Camera is not the same as iPhone 4S.

Clarification added June 4, 2012 – we have seen some reports suggesting that we found it to be the same sensor as found in the iPhone 4S. The bond pad arrangement is not the same as the IMX145 found in the iPhone4S nor is it the same as the IMX105 found in previous Samsung phones. The initial opinion (subject to more analysis) is that the sensor is new.
