Firstly, i am tired of you double posting all your question, second, there are lots of solutions, and i have no idea why it takes 4 hours for you to get full charge, it only takes less then 2 hours for me, and how often do you charge your device? if you are a power user, then when do you use your device most often? you see, when i am home or in the office or in the car, i always plug the Athena for charge, can you not do the same? most of us here don't wait for the battery to get fully drain then start charging.
There is no external battery charger right now, (unless you buy another Athena and use that for charging....haha). They will be an official Athena dock which support spare battery charging, GPS for Less site is also offering another Dock which has the same function. However they are both not out yet.
Meanwhile, if you really want to get more battery, you can always buy external charging device which provide battery to your Athena. So if you are in the tube or anytime not using your Athena, you can plug it into the external battery device and charge it all the time. This way you will last longer before your battery fully drain.
Hope this helps, and please don't double post again.

As I know only 2-3 first charges for Li-Ion batteries are critical, those called as "battery training". You should fully discarge and then fully charge 2-3 times for a new battery. After that it doesn't really matter if you charge battery that is not fully discharged. Li-Ion batteries doesn't have a memory effect. Yes, they have limmited number of charge cycles, usially 500-700. In normal use it is good for 1-1.5 years.
So don't worry, charging you battery in a car or at work will not kill it.
Also you can consider external USB batteries like this:
http://www.tangshop.com/universal-external-battery-powerbox.html
those batteries are very handy if you flying often.

firstly, we haven't get you wrong, we understand you completely, and no, you will not hurt your battery by charging it all the time, beside, an extra battery does not cost that much as well.
Second, I have already told you clear, there are no external charger for Athena, and for the web link of HTC and GPS FOR LESS dock, please take your own time and google it, it will only take you 2 mins.
Actually, you could find your answer by searching on net, what's what we do here, and it's not our duty to spend this 2 mins to search for you while you can do it yourself, so don't be lazy and start searching!

That is just unnecessary. Your question has been answered severeal times. BTW, you could have answered it yourself very easily using that very new concept called Google.

I second that.
We are all here to help each other, but if you come here with a bad attitude, we will not help you.
Now you can 'bark' for me, whatever that means....
wow, I believe moderators shall stop such posts and lock out people like "emilnaeri"
Isn't there a thread about this already? Started by the SAME person no less... Yipes, and there I was trying to be helpful.. apparently not good enough for this apparently "I'm the center of the world. Look at me I'm yelling all the time in a panic because I think I have a problem."
Clearly, mate, calm down two notches and read through this forum. There are not that many topics about Athena, and most of the trivial things have been covered already.
Check out this link. I bought two to test then bought four more for cars laptops and my travel bag. If you use thier penquin AC/DC charger I get a full charge in under two hours.
http://pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~...2Dn%2Dcharge+cables~item~USB%2DLSPDUO001X.htm
I have also noticed that the battery indicator gets stuck sometimes. If I disconnect the charger then wiat a bit and shut the unit off then on it will register correctly.
The issue with charging off the laptop is that Activesync keeps the device on. When the device is on it switches to high speed mode then it takes MUCH longer to charge.

I'm glad I found this post. I noticed this with the device that the battery indicater stays orange (amber ..whatever). I have to continue to check it. After an hour or two...depending on when i started....it will stay amber. If I unplug it and navigate to the Power screen, it will jump to 100%.
Can I fix this? Second, does the advantage only register battery percentage in 10's? i.e. 10% 20% 30%
I did search the forum...but couldnt locate a relative answer to these.
Thanks in advance!

When it is fully charged, it will turn to green.
Affirmative to your second question. It register in 10% increments, AFAIK.

Hi all, I have a quick question. I have read in various forums that leaving my phone plugged in after its fully charged can ruin battery life. Does anyone know if this is true? I usually plug it in to charge when I go to bed and I know it finishes well before o wake up. Thanks
A question for mythbusters! In this day and age it won't harm the phone or battery...though some people disagree...I've always charged mine overnight...especially since the vibrant takes a little over 4 hours to charge!

No problem leaving it plugged in overnight, according to this tweet from Samsung Service,
do you guys leave your tf plugged in at all times?

Nope, I unplug it when its fully charged and only charge when there is less than 10% left.
I ordered a USB 3.0 extension cable. One of the reviewers for it said it worked perfectly for his TF. One of the most annoying things I found was not being able to charge from the computer while I used the device. The plug was way too short for the wall. This one is awesome and very cheap. Here is a link:
6ft USB 3.0 A Male to A Female Extension 28/24AWG Cable (Gold Plated)
Quotes from the reviews of it:
"Powers and charges the ASUS Transformer tablet when used with the ASUS Transformer power adapter. Also works as data cable when connected to PC."
"i bought 5 of these for random usb charging extension for mainly tablets - ipad, transformer, galaxy tab. these work perfectly fine and charge at full speed."
It's better for Lithium-Ion batteries to drain little and top-up as often as you can so I plug it in whenever I'm not using it.

I hear a lot of back and forth about this. Do you have a source for this info? (Not doubting you, just, like I said, I constantly hear people changing their minds on this)
EDIT: Nevermind, maybe I am thinking way back or something. I am finding most info points to "Don't deep drain if you don't have to"... just google lithium ion battery care if you thought the same as me.
I'm curious, i just got my transformer today, in the instructions it says to charge it for 8 hours. But I had full charge after 3 hours. Do I still need to charge it for another 5 hours?

yes you should, the battery needs overcharged for premiere usage. but after that don't overcharging your battery in daily usage which the OP is asking.
I charge mine a few hours at night, but unplug it overnight. Since I have the dock, I don't even come close to running out of battery during the day so I leave it uncharged until night time again.
In this case, my Tablet is always 100% and my dock battery drains and gets recharged. I have no idea what my battery life will be later on hehe.
Lithium ion are good for about 300 to 400 charge cycles...usually closer to 300. It is a good idea to charge fully and then simply let it run down. ...i am a tech at a lathe national company. We see trouble tickets from users about batteries on laptops frequently. If the device sits plugged in all the time your battery will last a little over a year before it's about 50% effective. I have no source for my data, just experience.
Hope that helps

The note is a disaster for me when it comes to charging.
If your battery is low and you start charging it but using it at the same time, it doesn't get worse, but it doesn't get better either i.e. actually charge the thing, it just holds its own.
I have got to say I am not impressed with this!
I am not facing such problems. Charging takes pretty long yes but not as bad as you said. A larger battery will of course need a longer time to charge. But I wonder sometimes too if it's the battery problem or the charger output problem and if there's a way to speed up the process.

I think it is more to do with the actual charger, seems like a trickle charge or something.
Yes if charging and using at the same time you would not expect it to charge as quick, but mine doesnt really charge at all, just stays the same.
My acer iconia will charge like lightning even when i am using it, smaller battery or not it still charges!
This was one of the things i was looking forward to with the note, but this slow charge seems to make it more or less the same as what I am used to.
I have the usb plug which comes with the kindle, might it do a better job?
If anyone manages to find a proprietary charger which can produce better charging I will like to know too
That is common the charging is very slow and if you are playing HD games then the charging is almost in negative. May be its because of the voltage of the charger inputs and it is to low. Samsung must have done it for a reason may be its because of the proprietry port or the battery itself we do not know but we need to live it
Agreed, charging this thing takes a long time. Keep in mind that the battery is 7000 mAh and the charger is most likely a 2 amp charger, pegging the charge time at around 4 hours with no other losses. So if you're using it, it should take even longer.

No such issue here. I charge to full capacity while using all the time.
I get what he's saying. Because it draws so much power when you're using it; having it charging at the same time doesn't move the needle much. For example, if you're watching a movie while it's charging you'll probably be at the same point battery wise when the movies over. People complain about this all the time when their using their devices as a GPS. In some cases not only doesn't it charge but it actually continues to drain so you're worse off from where you started. We're using 21st century toys powered by 20th century battery technology.

This is a better way of saying what I mean, thank you.
I also have to say one thing I do not like doing is turning the screen brightness down. After all we all get these things as they look so good, so I am not going to make it look worse when I am using it, what would be the point in that? Its a bit like saying yeah my battery life is 14 days but actually it is on standby for that time lol...
Anyway, I still believe it should be better and the primary cause is the weak charger for what ever reason sammy decided to make it that way, but its not a good thing.
It seems like I remember someone recommending a charger that was more powerful so the note would charge faster. Can anyone confirm this?
What a fail thread. If you know ANYTHING about charging, you would know why this happens and why this is NORMAL.
But why even search or educate oneself, let's post a thread on XDA and whine a bit.
It could be worse. It takes six hours to charge a N10.
I dont face this problem i charge mine when surfing the wep
On a slightly related side note, doesn't it suck that the brightness just turns down completely when the battery is low?
The zslower charge rate protects the batteries life ,reduces the possibilty of heat and battery damage trickling insures a full charge
if you don't want your screen to dim don't use the power saving setting.

For all those facing the slight unresponsive screen please change the source of power, I had mine connected to UPS power supply as soon as I changed and connected it direclty the problem was gone.
Even if you read the user manual of Samsung Note its says thats one of the reasons
How Manhattan hours per day do you use the note? With a 10hrs battery life I find an overnight charge is sufficient

Wow! many friends?
Anyway moving on.. so i just got my note 10.1 about a week ago, loving it but saw that while plugged in it was not charging at all while i was using the tablet and never quite getting to 100% overnight. By not charging while using, i mean to say that it was actually discharging. Yes of course i am using the stock charger and cable.. and even stock note.
so just tried something silly. Unplugged and plugged the usb from the block repeatedly about 5 times. Now its not only recognizing and charging, but charging relatively quickly even while using. To test, i unplugged for about 20 min and plugged back in. Same great results.
Just thought i would share instead of hoarding my new found knowledge like others..
Quick update: it charged about 10% in 20 min.. Nice
I don't charge mine - I paid cash for it
Is it safe to charge my phone overnight on the charger it came with?
Sent from my Verizon LG G2
Can't see why not. I've done so many times. It didn't get overly hot at all, and after it was done charging it felt even cooler. It even gives you a ping when its done and changes the LED to green, so in case you notice just pull it out. Try to avoid charging unnecessarily though, for the batterys sake.
Lol that's why I'm asking the question. Cause I'm asking about charging while I'm asleep.
Sent from my Verizon LG G2
The way a charger works is FIRTSLY it supplies the hardware with power, and if it's a 5v 2amp charger and your playing a game, say the phone uses 4watts, then we still have about 6watts to the battery.
When you're charging it without using it, it will use LESS than 1watt, and when the battery is charged, it only charges the battery when it needs to, but the charger will power the hardware.
tl:dr yes, modern chargers are safe to not disconnect .

check this thread out its pretty helpful.
also, apple has a little helpful page
http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
highlights:
partial discharges are more beneficial than full discharges
ideally, you would charge while phone is turned off
use 20%-30% at a time
keep phone cool
ive also read elsewhere that its best to keep your phone between 40-80% charge, and after 30 charge cycles to do a full discharge (run it til it shuts off) then fully recharge. this process simply helps recalibrate the accuracy of the battery reading. dont worry about damaging your battery by letting it discharge until it shuts off, the manufacturer designed it to shut off before any damage is done.
Thanks guys. Just curious cause you hear so many different answers from everywhere. Loving this phone. Got it for free from best buy last week!
