I never really worked this out on my phone either, but how do you actually set a wallpaper that fits decenty and isnt over zoomed?
I have tried zedge, gallery,hd wallpapers and never really managed consistent results.
Thanks
Android wallpapers are as follows
Hold the device in portrait. The wallpaper will be:
Width: Pixels Across Screen x 2
Height: Same
So if my phone resolution was 480x800, I would need wallpapers that were 960x800 to fit properly. On the vega the resolution is 600x1024 and so you need images that are 1200x1024 to fit properly.

What's the wallpaper size for the Desire? Want to make my own Pioneer CDJ one I've used on all my phones of late...and where do you save them once done?
I think its 960X800 same as Nexus One.
Nice one my friend - will confirm once I've had a play about
Why do any pics you set as wallpaper (even in 960 x 800) are so much more zoomed in??? Is there a way to rectify this?
Yeah, just try dragging one of the corners of the crop rectangle, you'll be able to set them at full size
nice, that solve it, hehehe. thanks
What is the correct wallpaper size(resolution) to be perfectly fit without the need of cropping when applying it?
http://www.nexusoneforum.net/wallpapers/g508-nexus-one-wallpapers.html
since both nexus one and galaxy s have a 800x480 screen then the correct resolution should be 960x800
Whenever i am applying a wallpaper from the wallpaper gallery (pre loaded ones) it is digital clear.
However any wallpaper i apply from the gallery seems to be slightly zoomed in.
I have tried this resolution: 1200x1024. It gives me the crop option, i select the entire image and apply it as a wall.
Can anyone help as to what is the issue, I cannot make head or tails of it, since its my first android device.
You're on the right track, it needs to be roughly twice the size of the horizontal resolution (viewed from portrait), same with all Android wallpapers
So in the case of the Tab, 1200x1024 images should work best. If your vertical resolution is larger than 1024, it may be changing the aspect ratio of the image a bit, which would make it appear zoomed.
On my previous Android phones the wallpaper was wider than one screen and it would shift a little with each home screen I looked at. My Note 3 doesn't seem to do this. I looked at wallpapers for it online and they were all 1920x1280 so I made one for my phone at that size but when I tried to load it the phone asked me the crop the photo down to the single screen size. Is there a trick to making it accept the full size wallpapers?
I've notice when setting 1440 x 2560 images it seems to zom on the image ever so slightly once set .Is there a reason why it doesn't set the full image as wallpaper ?

Click to collapse
It is because the launcher, if you want to set a full 1440X2560, I recommend using Wallpaper Changer and pick Fit.
I'm finding even some 1440x 2560 images are being cropped,I see some lively pics on line but when set as wallpapers don't look the same, they have been cropped etc ,what is the optimal resolution to set as wallpaper
