What's the wallpaper size for the Desire? Want to make my own Pioneer CDJ one I've used on all my phones of late...and where do you save them once done?
I think its 960X800 same as Nexus One.
Nice one my friend - will confirm once I've had a play about
Why do any pics you set as wallpaper (even in 960 x 800) are so much more zoomed in??? Is there a way to rectify this?
Yeah, just try dragging one of the corners of the crop rectangle, you'll be able to set them at full size
nice, that solve it, hehehe. thanks

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but I set a picture to be my wallpaper and realised that at the home screen, it looks very blur. I checked the width and height of the picture and it is 480x800. Also when I view the picture in the photo gallery, it is much much sharper, like what it supposed to be.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks!
ave a look in the themes an apps section. 480 x 800 will show up unless you follows a guide on how to make it come up crystal.
Just do a search for Wallpaper Guide

I just tested my phone and no probs all wallpapers or pictures look great
Can I ask how you selected your wallpaper?
Was it through settings wallpaper?
or another method
I've also noticed this as some pics transfer fine and clear to the wallpaper and some look enlarged and blurry. I'm thinking it's the larger screen size vs. the pic resolution size. My pro at 2.8" was not an issue. It hasn't bothered me enough to seek a fix, I'm using mobile shell and selecting the change image option. Ureka!! thats it, the shell! Doh!!! just my $.02

yeah i had a diamond before this and the wallpapers looked great there.
but the funny part is that the pics look great and sharp when viewed in the photo gallery, but only becomes blur when used as wallpaper.
OH and they don't look enlarged lol. the wallpapaer keeps the size, but it's really blur.
Just use the search button and read the wiki, this is another one of those topics that have been done to death, there's heaps of information on it.
I was checking zedge.net and found the wallpapers were posted there all of so small resolution. At first I thought it was the 480*800 resolution but then found the HD2 walls were right, but not Desire's. Why?
Its because as you swipe through the screens the wallpaper moves. I don't have a problem with them
While you're right about the wallpaper moving, the Zedge files are oversized. Try to set a standard wallpaper using the built-in function, not Zedge. You'll be brought to a screen with a crop rectangle that you can move around the picture, to select what will be shown on the screen. The crop is significantly smaller than the actual image.
The problem is... even the HTC original wallpapers are too large, as well. I don't think it's a Zedge-only issue. I wonder how the N1 handles standard wallpapers...

Try giving that crop rectangle a pull at one of the corners or sides.
Thanks for the tip, I had no idea you could resize the crop rectangle
Well... I guess that leaves just Zedge acting weirdly...
I just recently bought a Samsung vibrant from t-mobile and i want to set a background of a photo. At first it tells me to crop a certain part of the photo then expands it and looks all pixelated. I searched around and theres this app called "wallpaper set and save" which didnt set the whole image as the background. is there any way of setting a full image as a background and the phone auto adjusts?

Android lets you crop the picture when it's too big. If you touch the edges of the crop square, and drag it out, you can change the size of the cropped area, you might be able to drag it out all the way to encompass the entire image. Also, it shouldn't be pixellating the image unless the resolution is way low, like 170x200 low.

if u want them to fit PERFECT the Image has too be 960x800 i will be makin wallpapers so stay tuned -----here are some of my other i tweaked for the MT3g & Nexus but i was making the nexus 50 pixels larger instead of 960x800 i was making them 960 x850
http://picasaweb.google.com/neffstarr
the image is bigger than the full crop window. so when i try to crop it it crops half the photo and expands it to fit the full screen therefore making it pixelated. its a photo that wasnt taken by the phone btw.
I'm having the same problem. I downloaded some 480x800 wallpapers and when I try to set the wallpaper, it asks me to crop part of the image and does not let you encompass the whole the thing. How are you supposed to set the wallpaper?
As stated above, make the image 960*800.

Ahhh, I see. It works now, thanks a lot!
I still find the whole cropping thing a pain. I had images set at 960X800 but the cropping tool never lets me select it properly. I either end up with a small black band at the top and bottom or I have to under size it. I found this on the Market that lets you just set the image without cropping and it works on the Vibrant: "Application Utility".

Then you're doing it wrong.
960 wide
800 tall
crop to 100%
done.

i have yet to crop anything and have a wide array of resolutions so far. Wallpaper set and save. get it.
I have tried out 3 different android builds, and what I found with the wallpaper when trying to use on the leo is the sizing aspect. You can actually look at the wallpaper in the gallery with no problem full view, the moment you try to use as wallpaper and set it it blows the picture up when set.I am quite aware that the android was not originally made for the HTC HD2 but if you can watch it in the gallery there must be a way.
what resolution are you trying to use for your wallpapers? on my nexus one (same screen res), i have to use 960x800+ backgrounds because of the wallpaper scrolling. if you're trying to use something smaller, it'll be blowing it up i think.
Thats a good question I never changed my screen resolution let me try that and I will get back to you.
Thanks a million
960 x 800 pixels
I need help finding out how to change my screen resolution if possible.

I'm afraid that's hardware based. You can try to saw off a part of your screen, but post a vid
Just make sure you use 800x480 with DISABLED wallpaper-scrolling and 800x960 with ENABLED wallpaper-scrolling.
Also: Don't forget to pull the clipping border to the image edges when setting wallpaper from gallery!

Yeah I tried to crop the whole pic but it has a mind of its own it enlarges the pic when I hit set thanks for the info.
I never really worked this out on my phone either, but how do you actually set a wallpaper that fits decenty and isnt over zoomed?
I have tried zedge, gallery,hd wallpapers and never really managed consistent results.
Thanks
Android wallpapers are as follows
Hold the device in portrait. The wallpaper will be:
Width: Pixels Across Screen x 2
Height: Same
So if my phone resolution was 480x800, I would need wallpapers that were 960x800 to fit properly. On the vega the resolution is 600x1024 and so you need images that are 1200x1024 to fit properly.
