What is the correct wallpaper size(resolution) to be perfectly fit without the need of cropping when applying it?

since both nexus one and galaxy s have a 800x480 screen then the correct resolution should be 960x800

How can i made a large pic to fit into the screen for wallpaper?
I tried to set some pics as my wallpaper but due to the size of the pic my screen only show parts of the pic instead of making the pics fit to screen.
though having the dimension of the image set to 800x480 is not the perfect size due to portions on top and bottom part are used by the toolbars, it works great.
I've been wondering about the size of wallpaper for topaz. When we download a wallpaper with 480x800 px in size then we view it on topaz, the wallpaper seems very sharp...but once we set it into wallpaper turn into kinda blur..
Maybe because it compressed to fit the space between the top and down bar?
Anybody know about it?

Its a common issue, newer manila builds allow you to set your landscape wallpaper separate from portrait.
What's the wallpaper size for the Desire? Want to make my own Pioneer CDJ one I've used on all my phones of late...and where do you save them once done?
I think its 960X800 same as Nexus One.

Why do any pics you set as wallpaper (even in 960 x 800) are so much more zoomed in??? Is there a way to rectify this?
Yeah, just try dragging one of the corners of the crop rectangle, you'll be able to set them at full size

I never really worked this out on my phone either, but how do you actually set a wallpaper that fits decenty and isnt over zoomed?
I have tried zedge,gallery,hd wallpapers and never really managed consistent results.

Android wallpapers are as follows
Hold the device in portrait. The wallpaper will be:
Width: Pixels Across Screen x 2
Height: Same
So if my phone resolution was 480x800, I would need wallpapers that were 960x800 to fit properly. On the vega the resolution is 600x1024 and so you need images that are 1200x1024 to fit properly.
I'm trying to make create a wallpaper for my 1280x720 radio but an image with this size turned out to be a lot overzized. Can someone tell what shall be the correct size to fit the screen?
