Naturally it matters, if it's not dev unlocked you can't do anything at all with WPDM. And yes as of yet I haven't seen anyone getting full file access on the Optimus 7, don't know if anyone is actually working on it either.
As for WP7 being a ****ty OS that stands for you, I won't even comment on that.
And the apps, I'd say there are even more useless apps floating around for Android, I chose not to download them neither for Android, nor WP7.

u are right, my mistake: OS is great, the best ever, but MS make it looks and feel so ****ty. All the restrictions and dictation, tutelage of the users make it so worthless, even for the developer.
A question: how many new devices are out in the past few months, to say so, last 5 months???????????????????
Compare the price, thats the best indicator on the market, 6 months ago my Optimus was 640.-CHF and today????
237.-CHF ist the last price, from today, on Toppreise.ch
Its a really great device, great hardware, speed, all is perfect....but the whole thing is useless, aside from calling and paying money on Marketplace for worthless, useless ****.
Thats my opinion.
Unlock optimus 7 cannot connect to wpdm
hi, I have a problem with Windows Phone Device manager. I have just bought a new Optimus 7 in June, I upgraded it to NODO, I unlock by MFG method, I installed SDK.
When I connect my phone to WPDM, it don't recognise my phone, it install TouchXperient on my phone but it cannot launch TouchXperient, although it says that my phone plugined via USB, but when I try to connect, synch, it notice that "unable to connect device". Zune connect normally.
I tried to open TouchXperient manually, and connect to WPDM but I tried in vain, nothing happened.
Can anybody help me? I am using Windows 7 Professional with MSE. Is there anything I need to install before use WPDM, pls list for me.
Run touch experience on your phone before you try to connect. It should connect then. It does for me.

Make sure all requirements are met first.
Requirements:
* Registered or unlocked Windows Phone 7 device
* Windows Vista or Windows 7 32/64-bit
* .NET Framework 4.0
* Windows Phone Developer Tools
Hints: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
You can initiate connection from both PC and device (tap PC Synchronization in TouchXperience to etablish connection from device). You can connect via USB or Wi-Fi, but the first time you have to connect via USB so WP Device Manager can deploy TouchXperience and your device can get your PC IP address.
In the current version you can't manually set the PC or phone IP address to connect, or change default ports.
Make sure port 8007 is not blocked by firewall on PC and port 8107 is reachable on device.
When WP Device Manager initiate a connection and can't connect to the phone, in case you are connected via USB it will launch TouchXperience, in other cases it will send a push notification to your phone asking you to manually launch TouchXperience
Some tasks requires your phone screen to be unlocked
It is not necessary to have Zune runing in order to use WP Device Manager.
If WP Device Manager does not start at all, make sure you installed all the requirements and try to reinstall full .NET Framework 4.0 and developer tools.
If you are not able to connect or if some features are not properly working, go to Settings in WP Device Manager, click Restore default settings and eventually restart your PC.
If you get a message "TouchXperience version 1.2.3.0 or later is required" it means Device Manager is not able to communicate with TouchXperience, to solve the problem, go to Settings in WP Device Manager, click Restore default settings and restart your PC. Try to temporarly disable your anti-virus or firewall programs to see if that's the problem. If nothing helps, download and open WPDeviceManagerFix.reg in attachment bellow and restart your PC
If you have connection problems, try the following may help: unplug/replug your phone, close or start Zune, restart WP Device Manager, make sure your device is detected by Zune, in worst case restart your PC.
WP Device Manager or some components of it may be considered as potential threat by anti-virus or firewall programs, this is a false alarm, you may need to add exceptions to your anti-virus or firewall may prevent WP Device Manager from working correctly.
WP Device Manger is automatically disconnected when you quit TouchXperience (for example when you launch an app or return to Start screen). This is not a bug, this is because TouchXperience is stopped due to the lack of native multitasking in WP7. To workaround you can enable multitasking in TouchXperience settings.
Tap on a menu title in TouchXperience and the main menu will show up
If you want to take screenshots of an other application on the phone you need to enable multitasking in TouchXperience settings
You can only access \Windows and \My Documents on non-HTC devices and some folders may appears empty. This is because only HTC devices have full file system access at the moment.
Applications installed with other tools than WP Device Manager are not recognized (they are identified by their id) on non-HTC device, for the same reasons than above. To solve the problem you can simply browse your original xap files, application info will be automatically cached and diplayed in the app manager.
Some application versions are incorrect. This is due to the fact that some developers does not update their application manifest with correct version number when they release new versions. To fix the problem you can check for app updates and click on Dismiss All assuming all your applicatons have been updated to their latest version.
You can't copy most of DLL and EXE in \Windows directory, this is simply because these are not files but modules.
You can check TouchXperience version in Settings or in WP Device Manager application list.
You should have a folder with device name in My Documents on your PC, place here the files you want to sync with the phone.
You can send toast notifications from any program on your PC using command line C:\Windows\WPDeviceManager\WPDeviceManager.exe /SendToast "message".
In order to use WP Device Manager from Windows Device Stage, you must have Windows 7 and driver signature verification disabled, unfortunately this is because Windows 7 recognize only digitally signed drivers.

Hi,
Yes I have it working with both USB / BT :=)
Try this procedure.
1. Download this file.
http://www.download.windowsupdate.c..._847432eec73e750d6d8056881f52a39fbc94587a.exe
2. Extract it using winrar. This will give you a file "wmupdate.msi"
3. Now be sure to logon to Vista as the built in admin and run "wmupdate.msi" and after that reboot and again login as built in admin, let it complete the install.
4.Login as your regular user, connect you phone and all should work:=)

Hi,
I'm running 5472 as well, but the update (from the file name) looks like it's mean for build 5460. Are you sure this is compatible with 5472? I just wanna make sure because I had just reinstalled my OS and don't want to go through the trouble of breaking it Of course, there's always system restore, but it can be a PITA for me sometimes.
tried it but dont seem to work, setup starts then vista picks up a new device, out of interest what does your wizard show up as in device manager? It couldnt auto find a driver, so i browsed to activesync dir and there was loads of MS drivers, also HTC drivers, i tried to choose HTC pocket pc but didnt work, its obviously not the Wizard drive its after as the wizard wasnt even plugged in.

Oh yeah, now I remember... 5472 was being a real pain with my MDA. I can't remember what I did exactly to fix the driver issue, but I believe I just pointed it to the root directory of the CD that came with the phone when it prompted for drivers. Just be persistent with it, and it should finally install
BTW, the file provided above works! It does install an older build of WMDC, but it doesn't seem to affect anything. The build provided with 5472 only works if you choose "quick connect", instead of establishing a partnership.

I had the Start CD that came with the device put in and it found the drivers needed from that auto.
And sure enough the provided file is for an older build but for me at least it does work.
And it shows up as "your username Windows Mobile-based device" in WIndows Explorer..see attached snapshot"

Oh I just looked at my initial reply and one thing I forgot to mention
I had to run the wmupdate.msi i file from a command prompt, and that also had to be started with administrator priviliges.

Hello,
I've been googling around for a workaround but I cannot seem to find one that actually works. The problem is, when I try to connect my phone to the PC and, for example, want to flash it with an official rom - it simply cannot find it. It can find the SD card when I mount it.
When I put it in, Windows attempts to install a few drivers but fails at the ADB. According to several sites, I can just use the one from HTC Sync or from the Android SDK. It installs fine but it still doesn't seem to be able to contact my phone. I cannot sync it either.
Anyone got an idea? I seem to be on my last nerve.
I dont have any problems here. What windows beta release do you use?
Final version. Released today. It's Windows 7 Professional.
First, set the phone to debugg mode...
Ok here we go (at least it works for me)...
1.- Remove the drivers actuaslly installed (it might get tricky, as I don't know exactly how to remove the registry keys)
2.- Once you have cleaned windows from the drivers, connect the phone to the computer and let it recognize everything (Probably it would not recognize the ADB drviers, so far we are good)
3.- After the drivers are installed, go and check in control panel/Devices Administration (or something like that... I have Windows in spanish so I don't know exactly how is called on english... By the way, sorry if my english sound a little bit weird =P..)
4.- Here you should see probably a device as "not recognized" or what ever is called... Here is the part where you need to select the driver manually.
5.- Check the phone driver folder (you should have it, if you don't get them)
6.- When you see the different options, select the one called HTC Dream Composite ADB Interface
7.- You are done =D...
I hope I made it clear enough for you...
If you have any doubt, add me to MSN xnofrostx - hotmail.com (I don't put the @ because I hate spam xD so you should add only the xnofrostx =P...
Hope you can get it to work...
I couldn't, for the life of me, get it to work so I put Windows XP on a vmware and flashed it through there. Works wonders.
Sorry for not being able to help.
I run Windows 7 Evaluation copy. I have had no problems. In fact there was nothing for me to set up, it just saw it on first attempt.

LOL, Windows 7 is a damn nice release and a lot faster than both xp and vista compared to the hardware available at the moment off release.
i am also using windows 7 beta and final
no issues at all. and i also think, that win7 is really good piece of software. far superious to win xp
I was able to start touchxperience with Windows Phone Device Manager (found in http://www.touchxperience.com/) for LG E900
To make this work you must have "unlocked" LG E900 through the application MFG
Windows 7 32/64 Bit Ultimate / Home Premium
Microsoft. Net Framework 4.0
Microsoft Windows Developer Phone Tools
Zune
Once installed and connected via the USB Phone TouchXperience the application is installed on the LG E900.
Do not worry about the errors that will be 'at the beginning, and if by' error serving TouchXperience version 1.3.2.0, phone manager and go Windows Phone Device Manager Change Settings and Click "Restore Default Setting" and reboot the PC.
At the next link "should" work, do a bit of trial that is guaranteed to work
That's great news!
Good to Go
Also working for me on Optimus 7 with NoDo installed reg hack unlocked.
Nice little set of apps.
Get stuck in.
XripX
Yes, a nice set of apps, nothing more.
All we need for LG Optimus , REALLY need, is full file accsess.
Similar to the HTC devices.
Without full file access the phone is useless, there is no GPS, no Apps, nothing.
The apps available are only cheap and worthless peaces of crappy soft, developed from amateurs.
The only goal is to make money, much money, without work.
I am from beginning of beta testing, but till v.1.3.2 of WPDM it is nothing more than a nice app, like thousends others available.
Zune do the same for me.
So we have to wait for unlocking the file system to full access.
Sorry for the bad news!!!
Do you really get write access with this in Windows folder on your sets?
I can't seem to write anything to the phone, just pull stuff off it.
If anyone got write access could you please explain how?

I have had the easiest run so far in getting my HD2 to work with WP7, installling DFT's ROM and getting an activation code was a breeze. All is good except for one issue. When I connect by USB to my PC, the PC shows a window saying that it is seeking and then installing Device Driver Software. It does this every time I connect and then concludes by saying that my unidentified device is now ready for use. Zune then tells me that it can't make a connection between my HD2 and the internet but it can still sync files etc. I have installed Windows Device Manager (with .NET4 and developer tools etc.) and it too can't connect with my HD2. I've pursued the references in various threads to firewall issues and so on but I'm none the wiser.
Can anyone advise me what I should look at or what to try?
Other than this, I just want to say a huge THANKYOU to all at XDA and the extended community of interested/interesting folks who make it such a fantastic resource for everyone - BRAVO!
im having this EXACT same problem! anyone got any answers?
Zune
Guys,
Did you install Zune Desktop Software?
Once you have installed Zune, it should pick up your device.
Let me know if that does not work
I've tried everything except doing a hard-reset. And, yes, of course I installed Zune on PC
i assume you mean Windows mobile device center?
you dont need it
it should connect and be done, the fact that it isnt remember the correct driver suggests something on the driver side is buggered.
With the phone connected go in to the computers device manager, and right click on anything to do with the phone, including and unknown devices, right click and uninstall them all, before it installes them all again, disconnect the phone
look for a tool on google called USBDVIEW
make sure you get the correct version 32bit / 64bit
You will also need the USB IDs if you want to see who makes each device
put it on your PC and run it in admin mode
Locate anything todo with the phone and right click and remove them all
Remove Zune
Remove Windows mobile Device center
restart your PC
install zune first
Then plug in your phone into a different USB port and not in to a HUB
See how you get on with that
Second thoughts, ive attached the 32 and 64 bit versions, both already have the USB device IDs file with them, just copy the zip file to your PC, extract, and run as admin, all credit goes to the owner of this, i found them at http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html
sorry double post
Didn't work. =/
UPDATE: It did work
Zune cannot connect to an HD2 running Windows Phone 7 unless the time and date match on the phone and the computer. Make sure that your date and time are set up correctly on the phone, and do match the time and date with your computer. It is a long shot, but it worked for me before.
For the driver problem, dazza9075 gave the best advice.
Hmmm, so much for that fun. I was running WP 7004 when the computer first couldn't find the phone, after doing what dazza said the driver problem got fixed, and Zune found the phone. I updated from 7004 to 7008, how ever the phone kinda crashed at step 8 (restarting your phone) so i restarted it manually, the update is working fine except now Zune can't find my phone again. Not even after doing Dazzas method again.
I will try to change the time zones maybe that will do the trick.
Immediately after running, Windows Phone Device Manager 1.9.0.0 returns the error "Windows Phone SDK 7.1 is required".
I have installed the required software: .NET 4.0 full and SDK 7.1.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Running Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit) on a domain, so I cannot disable the antivirus software (Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection).
All other TSR programs were disabled on all installs.
Thank you very much for any help with this.

to be on the safe side try uninstalling the full SDK, then from MSs website reinstalling it, but if your on a domain i suspect theres some GPO settings getting in your way
Trying something...
Ok, I found a way to disable Forefront on the domain computer.
Also have another computer (my home laptop).
Will try: 1. (domain) uninstall SDK and reinstall SDK via MS Web, leaving WPDM installed.
2. (home laptop) uninstall SDK and WPDM, then reinstall SDK, then reinstall WPDM.
Any other ideas?
Getting there... but not quite there yet...
Thanks very much.
It finally installed.
However, it isn't reading any info about my LG Quantum w/Mango when I select [ Device Information ]. All it returns is the name of my cell phone and the operating system/version. All other fields in all categories are not read (have values "Not Available" or "0").
When I select [Explore Files and Folders], I get the error message
"Unable to launch TouchXperience. Please try to manually launch TouchXperience on the phone." followed by "Unable to connect to ... Cell Phone".
Does anyone recognize this problem? How do I launch TouchXperience from my phone?
BTW on my home laptop, Zune no longer connects to my phone. Zune does connect on my work laptop (on domain). Any ideas on this one?
Saga continues.... but worth the effort for WPDM!! Many thanks again.

Hi, i cant automatically connect my HTC mozart to WP device manager, its always asking for the IP address of the computer. when i enter the IP, it return from the start.
