[Q] Touchscreen failed, send to HTC for fix? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

This is the second time this has happened to me, very sad since it's only been 5 months since they fixed it last :/ just need to go through the process to reinstall HSPL original and WM 6.5. basically I need to re factory-ize it haha anybody able to take me through the whole process?
I believe I need to go to *THIS* thread and download the World Wide English (WWE) 3.14.405.2 since I'm T-Mobile.
Now, I believe *NEXT STEP?* is to install HSPL but what one do I select?? Also my Radio was not what it is now, will that make a difference to them?

If you're sending it in for repair, you won't want to use HSPL. Just install the correct stock ROM for your device (TMOUS, Telestra, etc.) using the sd card method. Download the CORRECT rom and extract it onto your computer desktop. Take the file ruu_signed.nbh and rename it to LEO_IMG.nbh and place this file on an sd card that is 4gb or less. Get the phone into bootloader by holding the volume down (vol -) button while powering up the device. If you do not let go of the volume button, you should end up in the bootloader screen. Then the phone will search the sd card and find the leo_img.nbh file and prompt you to press a certain button to install it. Press that button, and when it's done, you have stock rom and spl, your phone is ready to ship off for repair.
If you for some reason can't use the sd method or prefer not to, just download HSPL4, run it with your phone properly connected, and choose 2.08 not 2.08HSPL.
The radio doesn't matter, its ok that you have a different one now.

alright, cool because I had read somewhere that the Cotulla HSPL would get rid of warranty if seen..

Hi,
You need to revert back to orginal... HSPL is a hack and your warranty is void.
Extract with winrar or 7z the RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.48.404.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.0 7u_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe
find the larger *.nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh
copy it to your SDcard and reboot to bootloader (the one with 4 colors, hold volume down button)
follow the instructions from there
That way you will have your original software with SPL restored and ready to send it for repair
No need for PC drivers etc.

so I need *RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.48.404.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.0 7u_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe this one? and not the WWE version

Hi,
Sorry, that appears to be Netherland one
You want the one that is local to you.
Check HTC site and choose the one for your area.
The one I gave was just an example of how to extract.

EDIT:
Go to HTC site>support>download>ROM upgrade and choose appropriate ROM upgrade for your phone.
That's what I should have put in the first place.

Hi,
I just followed my own instructions(Go to HTC site>support>download>ROM upgrade and choose appropriate ROM upgrade for your phone)
and found the ROM for my phone, downloaded, extracted, etc.
So it does work.
Judging from your avatar,I would say TMOUS is what you need.

Nothing there for T-mobile that I see on HTC website, did a search on T-Mobile's and found one there.. I should have looked there first I suppose.. sorry haha thanks for the help
Got error messages for the way I used instructions "Note: This update is not intended for use on T-Mobile(US) HTC HD2, and doing so may have undesired side effects."

and.. it's happened yet again!
this is such a hassle.. I'm stuck as I forgot how I had put it back to original since this post.. lol my HTC ROM update is stuck at 0% when I'm using 3.03 SPL
and when I use 2.08 SPL the original WMO does not even load up after saying it has been installed...

But if u can... do it like u did to put the HSPL on, just choose the 2.08.00000
please sorry for the newby ? but i need to know how uninstall hspl and put the stock rom i know the hspl uninstall the same way that i instaled but i dont know how to put the stock please somebody help me i need to return my phone to waranty and thank
please help me
Its simple download the stock rom 2.10.1 and extract it to a new folder after that just double click it and
flash it like and any other rom after that remove your hspl had to figure this out myself cause I'm sending it in Monday for repair let me know if you need any help
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
go to the link the other poster provided. Download the 2.13 stock ROM to a computer (or your phone for that matter).
Unzip the file, open the folder that it unzips to and find the file that ends in .nbh. That is the stock ROM. Change the name of that file to LEOIMG.nbh and put it on your storage card (not in any folder, just on the storage card).
Put your phone in bootloader and press the red end/power button when the grey screen tells you to. This will flash the stock rom and relock the hspl.
To put your phone into bootloader: Hold down the volume down button while either reseting your phone (button under back cover) or while turning your phone on. You should see a tricolored screen, then a grey screen with blue text come up.
You have to use a different memory card from the stock one to do this. Any smaller memory card should work (1,2, or 4gb).
The other option is to download the same 2.13 ROM and run the file from your computer while your phone is connected via activesync to it. Once you have flashed back to stock you have to run the same program that unlocked your phone and relock it to 2.08.0000

I would recommend this method for you, monchofonse. In other words, just run the 2.13 upgrade from your PC, and then once that's done you "reinstall" HSPL, but this time choose the option on it for "2.08.0000"
thank you all you are the best thank again

[Q] Downgrade from froyo to tmobile hd2 rom

Hello all. Last night i flashed both my and my girlfriends t mobile branded hd2's to android 2.2 using magldr and a DFT android rom. Since then her 3g service randomly starts and stops as well as both of our devices have lost the ability to be read on a pc. I want to restore her device to the stock t mobile rom but the rom i downloaded from their website ends up stating that there is a usb error. Could someone please help me. Much appreciated.
I did some searching around and came across this: http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/01/01/how-to-upgrade-htc-hd2-rom-through-sd-card-video/
Which was off of this page, which is most likely what you installed on your HD2s (NAND android correct?) http://www.jayceooi.com/2010/12/31/how-to-install-nand-android-on-htc-hd2/
BTW, which radio version are you running? It seems that your builds want the 2.15 radio.
thank you so much for replying, this is the nand android that i flashed with but i cannot for the life of me find an official tmobile rom that will work with magldr to reflash her phone. O and how do i go about finding out the radio version???
Bear with me since I've never NANDandroid'd my HD2's, only have run them from my SD cards. My understanding is that magldr can be removed by just reinstalling another flash, like Tmo's 3.14 or 2.13.
Is this the exact NAND you installed? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893620 It says "Uninstallation:
It is possible to downgrade to original Windows Mobile 6.5, by just flashing to an Official ROM.
Both MAGLDR and Android will be removed"
My bet is that you'll have to do the SD card method of reflashing:
Remove your sim card, then
Download a stock rom, unpack it, and...
.
1. Place the LEOIMG.nbh on a 8GB or smaller microSD card.
2. Remove the battery cover and press the Reset button.
3. Hold the Volume Down and End Call (power) buttons at the same time.
4. As soon as "Searching..." appears on the screen, release the Volume Down button.
5. ROM will flash. Be sure to hard-reset afterwards to prevent weird errors (as usual). (credits to snarksneeze)
To find your radio version, check in android's about phone section in the settings menu. I don't know of any other way other than maybe the bootloader screen (3 colors, red, green blue), might list it (volume down and power button).

Ok the closest thing that i have found online is a custom rom called "Kumar's Leo Touch Prem V3.0 S23142-WWE.nbh". Now i am completely lost after the step that states Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
ok i tried renaming the rom and copying it to the sd card but when i try to reboot by holding the power key and the down volume rocker the phone just continually vibrates and never restarts. When i try a regular reboot by holding the power button i can either go back into android or pull up magldr but not flashing options for winmo
Wait a minute...don't use that Kumar's ROM, it's for the Euro HD2 (512MB) --it'll probably brick your US TMO HD2 (1024 MB).
Ok, find a TMO USA nbh file, then rename it to LEOIMG.nbh, then copy it to the the microSD card with a card reader. Next, put the microSD card back in the phone and remove the SIM card (some folks say it's better to flash without the SIM card in).
Make sure before you flash that your battery level is more than 50%! Enter the bootloader by doing the following:
To place the HD2 into Bootloader mode,

WOW thanks a million before i bricked the phone, the closest thing to a t mo nbh file that i have found so far is what i am assuming is a rom labeled "T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_3.14.531.1.exe". I will continue scouring the net until i find something and again THANKS A MILLION
Ok here's the thread that'll save your day:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681317
at the end of the first post is a ROM for you. Copy that to the microSD card and go from there, following the instructions. I forgot since it's been a while since I've done it that you need an 8gb or smaller microSD card, the 16gb one doesn't seem to work for flashing.
Here's your 2.10 stock TMO USA rom, http://devftp.xda-developers.com/files/zelendel/LEOIMG.nbh after you get this installed, perhaps your USB connectivity will be back and you'll be able to later update to 3.14 if you so choose (http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobileUS/DeviceDownloads.aspx?pid=leo2) or 2.13 (http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobileUS/DeviceDownloads.aspx?pid=leo)
1. Place the LEOIMG.nbh on a 8GB or smaller microSD card.
2. Remove the battery cover and press the Reset button.
3. Hold the Volume Down and End Call (power) buttons at the same time.

Download that .exe you where talking about and extract it to gain the .NBH file you need.
You know what's wierd is I used to be able to extract/decompress that .exe file! Now I can't, I figured I probably uninstalled the program that does that on my computer. Anyway, I was going to recommend to the OP to do that except that he might not have the program to decompress that .exe as well, so I figured I'd make it a little easier for him by suggesting he download just the .nbh file from the forums.

How do i go back to windows mobile on my htd hd2?!

I have looked all around this forum, google, and youtube. my phone is running on cyanogen 6.1 via nand. I would like to go back to winmo so i can send it back to t mobile because the vibration stopped working. Tutorials, DL links will help.
From the Flashing NAND roms tutorial (link in my signature)
5. UNINSTALLING MAGLDR AND NAND ANDROID (FLASHING WINMO BACK TO NAND)
To uninstall Magldr and any Android Rom that you installed to NAND, do the following:
1. Download a Stock Rom from *HERE* or a Custom Rom from the HD2 Rom Development Forum (for LEO512 ONLY, LEO1024 users will have to use a TMOUS compatable Stock or Custom Rom that is LEO1024 compatable).
2. Enter Bootloader Mode by taking the battery out, then put it back in and hold down the 'Volume Down' button while briefly pressing the power button.
3. After the phone enters the Bootloader Screen, plug in the usb cable so it says usb at the bottom of the screen
4. Run the Stock Roms .exe file (or run the customruu.exe file of the Custom Rom you want to flash)
* This will flash a Stock Rom and Radio while keeping your HardSPL untouched *

i think i love you
Yea but that will not remove the HSPL. If you have the latest HSPL you need to open it back up after you load the stock rom and then install the one that is 2.08.0000 at the end of it. Now they will have no Idea. As for the stock rom I just downloaded the one from T-mobile. (www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade)
Then press the "Thanks" button for him to boost his meter.
i download the stock rom and then how do i do it? im usually an apple guy, im new to android.
If you are using a 512MB ROM HD2, just download the official firmware from HTC's website. The recommendation is to use a 1.xx or 2.xx ROM, do not use a 3.xx ROM.
Download 7-zip, make sure it is 9.20 version and up.
Using 7-zip, open the official ROM update exe file. Do not execute it.
Inside you will see RUU_signed.nbh, extract just that file. Nothing else.
rename RUU_signed.nbh, to leoimg.nbh
Copy leoimg.nbh into your SD card which is FAT16 or FAT32 formatted.
Unplug the battery from the HD2, count to 10, replace the battery.
Hold the VOLUME DOWN button, DO NOT LET GO.
Press the POWER BUTTON, then let go.
Follow the instructions on the screen when the device goes to RECOVERY mode.
Please note, this method will remove your HSPL and replace it with official SPL. It will also over-write your RADIO and ROM.
Everything will be as it is stated, a full factory recover.
I am trying todo this on my hd2, to get it back to "stock" wm6.5.
I am having some problems with this. I can get into the bootloader and from my pc initiate the flash. But then it just hangs at 0%.
Anyone got any ideas to what i can do to get it back to "stock" wm6.5 from Android?
Do you still have hspl installed? Are you using the orignal stock rom for your device? Try putting device into bootloader mode first and then connect to your pc, does usb appear on the phone screen when connected?
I can boot it into the bootloader.. I've got SPL 2.08 installed atm on it.
It does register USB when i plug it in.
When i then start the ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the extracted ROM, and follow the steps, the screen changes to the HTC flash screen, and stops. Nothing happens at all.
I have flashed it with MAGLDR 1.11 to get android on it. I run into the same issues if i want to try and upgrade it to 1.12. I cant remember my radio version.

If you're having problems running the flasher executable, try the method mentioned by LiFE1688 above.
I am trying that one out at the moment.
It boots into recovery, but just hangs at "Loading ...."
I have downloaded the 1.66 official rom, not trying the latest 3.04, since that was not recommended.

Do you have spl 2.08.0000 or 2.08.hspl installed? You need the latter one if you are flashing a rom which is not officially meant for your phone.

+1 Thank you!
I tried to reinstall it & my phone turned off. Now it won't reboot. I think it's broken now. Any suggestions?
You will also have to remove HSPL as it is a customized Special Program Loader. Just flash using the .nbh files and that should overwrite the HSPL with the stock SPL. If you use Customruu directly (without modifications) it will not replace the HSPL.
you have to make sure to use a 2gb sd card or less or else it wont work

Is there a way to completely wipe and then reinstall Android or even the Original WM 6.5?
Im stuck here guys. The phone is a USA T-Mobile Leo.

Probably yes. Sorry, then.
Either way, he can still download the official rom .exe file and uncompress it with winzip or winrar. After that, he should find the .nbh file and rename it to "leoimg.nbh" and put it in the sd root.
Hi there,
Yes i have downloaded the Official ROM from T-Mobile.com and entered my IMEI, so i suspect its the correct one.
Tried updating from the Computer and it got to 5% and then said Update Failed.
I also tried doing it from the SD Card the way you guys said to, it worked once, it got to about 3% and said something about Invalid Radio.
I'm guessing this should have worked, however it didn't
Any idea why??
Cheers for your help Guys
PS: When i load into BootLoader mode it does come with with Serial and then USB.
However it also now since the update failed comes up with 'Upgrade ROM Code Error, Please Try Again "
I Get Error Code 284 on the update utility
Cheers

The current T-Mobile radio version is 2.15.50.14. If you downloaded the update ROM from T-Mobile thin this radio version is included with it.
When in bootloader what SPL or HSPL do you have? If it is not SPL 3.03.0000 OR SPL 3.03 HSPL then thos is your problem. The current T-Mobilr ROM is a 3.14 ROM and all 3.14 ROMs require one of these SPL versions to flash. You can change it after you flash.
I also recomend you run a task 29 on hour HD2 and then reflash the 3.14.T-Mobile ROM. You can do this via SD card as well. You can even flash MAGLDR ia SD card.

I also recomend you run a task 29 on hour HD2 and then reflash the 3.14.T-Mobile ROM. You can do this via SD card as well. You can even flash MAGLDR ia SD card.

ATM My SPL is 2.9
I think it may be corrupt, i took my phone into a phone repair shop and they had no idea how to fix it either.
So does anybody have some detailed instructions on how to do this, id love to get it going!
Cheers
It has to be the radio. If I'm not mistaken you flash the radio just like a ROM.
Here a thread with alot of Radios. Look for the one that says 2.15.50.14 Radio or something similar theres instructions in the thread.
THREAD: [RADIO] The HTC HD2 Master Radio Thread
Good luck!
sounds like nand coruption or a dodgy cable...
You'll need to flash original Rom from SD Card
Format your SD Card under windows down to FAT32 original allocation size.
extract the contents of the installer that you've downloaded from TMobile
copy RUU_signed.nbh and then rename it to leoimg.nbh
now im pretty sure you hold either the Up volume + Power until you get to a grey screen and follow prompts.
OR
up volume + down volume + Power
You do those combo's as you turn on the phone and hold untill the applicable screen comes up.

It is neither of those you give. You hold the volume down button down while powering on to get to bootloader, the grey screen is automatic when bootloader detects the leoimg.nbh file on the SD card. Also you just have to press the power button down like you would to normally turn the phone on, it is the volume down button you have to keep pressed down until you see bootloader. If you hold both the volume up and down buttons down while powering on it will go to the hard reset function.

Ok are you sure you have SPL 2.09 on your HD2 cause it should be one of these?
SPL 2.07.0000
SPL 2.08.0000
SPL 2.10.0000
SPL 3.03.0000
If you have that SPL you might have to flash a older ROM to get another SPL version that will let you flash HSPL as SPL 2.09 will not and I have not heaerd of that SPL so it must have been like a test SPL or something.
Go to "Leo 1.5 T-MOBILE Test & Stock ROMS"and start at the 2,07 ROM, download it and try to flash it via USB and SD card. If no joy, move to 2.09 ROM, if now joy with it move to 2.10.0 ROM and so on and so on until you get one to flash. try both flash methods with both.
Do not, I repeat do not flash or even download for that matter the 2.01 ROM marked not for TMOUS as it will brick/KILL your your HD2!
Recommendations from the SD flash your machine

Download the last Windows Mobile 6.5 update on Tmobile websitehttp://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/ (If US Model) or htc.com
Once downloaded to remove HSPL and return to truly stock extract the update file and copy the .nbh file(200MB+) to an SDCard and rename it to LEOIMG.nbh restart the phone into Bootloader and flash
To keep HSPL just run the exe file

I'm typing up the step by step.... If you download the ROM make sure that its for your version of the HTC HD2..
If you simply put the phone in Bootloader Mode and Run the program its going to erase WP7, and MAGLDR and flash WM6.5 and leave HSPL (bad if your sending it in to the company)

The steps are the same for both the US version of this phone and also the EU (international) version, the only real IMPORTANT step is the first on where you download the stock WM6.5 rom
1. for a Tmobile US HD2 ONLY(Green Call button, and Red End Key) visit the Tmobile WM6.5 upgrade page and download the ROM
http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/
1a. for the European or International version (grey key colors no Tmobile branding) go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283 Pick the 3.14 ROM that suits your need (language).
2. Once you have downloaded the ROM you will have a .exe
"T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_3.14.531.1.exe" is the US HTC HD2
while the European (Internalional) will say depending on your language picked
"RUU_Leo_S_HTC_FRA_3.14.406.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe
"
To Keep HSPL
3. Turn the phone on in Bootloader Mode and Start up the Update Program once completed it will restart and Boot WM6.5
Do note that it will take a while to turn on and Finish Booting WM6.5
________________________
TO REMOVE HSPL AND RETURN TO STOCK SPL
3a. Right click on the ROM (depending on the Archive Program) and choose to extract the contents of that package
4a. once extracted you want to put the "RUU_Signed.nbh" on a memorycard and rename it to LEOIMG.nbh..... (.nbh is the file extension dont make a file called LEOIMG.nbh.nbh)
5a. Once its copied over put the memory card in the phone and startup the phone in Bootloader Mode
6a. You will be asked if you would like to install the update by press the End KEY, go head and press it
7a. When it is done it will restart and which point you want to go into Bootloader Mode to check that "CotullaHSPL" is gone
If it is then your back to fully Stock
IF NOT then you must download HSPL3_PKG http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893 and run it
Choose "2.08.0000" to return to stock

SO you extracted the .exe (downloaded update file) and moved the biggest file (RUU_Segned) to the sdcard.
You try name variations?
LEOIMG (remove .nbh)
leoIMG

I have also tried this and it is not working. Once I get into the bootloader screen nothing happens. I am at a loss. I have the stock ROM already on it but I forgot about the HSPL should I send it back as is.

You should remove HSPL before sending it back or else they will see that you messed with it and it void your warranty
as for the bootloader not starting the update process.... Aslong as the SDcard works in the phone and you renamed the RUU_signed to LEOIMG it should start up
I'm also at a lost here!
i renamed the file and the update process started...but for some reason, it failed!
Right now, as long as i power up my HD2, a big exclamation mark appeared saying software update failed. please try again. and it just stays there...
need help badly!
thx
do a task29 (if you still have HSPL) and try again..
Aslong as you can go into the bootloader everything is okay
Just connect your HD2 to the PC while in bootloader and run ruu.exe that you've downloaded..
start up phone and pressing volume down till red green blue white.
and then it stays on serial
Bootloader
Bootloader Mode:
Bootloader mode is handy for checking the HD2's version of Hard SPL as well as the installed ROM and Radio versions, and also for ROM or Radio flashing to the HD2. I sometimes use the Bootloader method to flash ROMs as it saves connecting to Activesync/WMDC because the PC recognises the HD2 as connected via USB. It is also useful for flashing a ROM or Radio version if the battery charge is less than 50%, as it ignores the 50% charge warning that is normally displayed when flashing if the HD2 is low on charge. Never use this method if you have less than a 30% charge as you will be in deep trouble if the HD2 runs out of power while flashing a ROM or Radio version!
To place the HD2 into Bootloader mode, remove the HD2's back cover hold down the volume down key, now press in the red reset button under the back cover to the bottom left of the SIM, release the soft reset button but continue to hold the volume down key in until you are presented with the tri colour bootloader screen. To exit Soft Reset the device.
