hello just now pulled down my 2 HTC trinity
and probably found a problem so
hard to attach them
when it is hot
after tests with small rounded plate (plate wrapping paper towel in the bag and the fridge for 2 hours)
I can say with probably
are damaged in February at the processor or chipset
because when a downwards and 2 is the phone will normally be attached
my question is this
What to fix
Hotair somehow or something?
because I know a little bit in August to repair phones

Hi, I’ve just changed my mobile to an XDA Exec, had it for about a week and just noticed today the screen seems a little lose where the twisting joint is. I’ll try and explain this: With the XDA sitting on the desk and the screen open (at 90deg to the keyboard), if you put your fingers on the top of the screen assembly, it will rock noticeable from side to side (left/right), which is then more noticeable when it’s closed up. It almost feels like there is enough play in it to cause some damage if not careful.
What I’m interested to find out is, is this normal? Is it normal ware (given it’s a week or so old) or is this something that isn’t right and needs some attention?
Also is it possible to tighten something up to stop this and are there any disassembly guides available for the screen assembly?
Cheers
Matt
same here!
same problem with my xda exec, it has a slight wiggle but then it really bothers me. is there a way to tighten the joint or a service center that can do the tightening? im from toronto. thanks!
Hi, At least I'm not the only one, driving me mad too every time I pick it up....
Do you remember if it did this when you got it or has it started over time? I'm wondering if I can get it repaired under the warrantee or if this is just a "Feature" of the hardware.......
Alternatively I'm interested in finding out how to take the screen section apart. Has anyone got any pictures of the innards? And if that is actually worth doing, e.g. is there a nut that's come loose and needs tighten?
Cheers
Matt
The common problem I have found is that the screw on the hinge by the screen pivot comes loose. Look at it with the screen 90 degrees out, It's obvious. It has happened on my last 3 Execs. The screens seem to be easy to damage.
Try removing the screw, adding a little super glue or whatever your local glue is and tightening it quickly. Works for me
i little wobble is normal considering you have a relatively huge screen on that end of a lttle metal base plate with one screw holding it on.
if your screw is tight, but you can wiggle the screen back and forth your base plate may be bent.
this happened on my UNI after a dropped it. the plate was noticabley bent convex. when this happens the base plate isn't supported by the plastic of the case. i removed the single metel screw (described above) and detached the screen from the rest of the case. while it was out i bent the base plate into a concave shape. once it was tighted back down the screen was back to it's slightly wobbly self again!
download the service manual and study the pictures.
This is the second stylus I've gone through in 2 weeks of owning the phone. Again the plastic bit came loose on the metal shaft (completely detached), leaving the metal part stuck INSIDE the phone when I tried pulling the stylus out. I tried removing the battery and attempted to push the shaft out via the two tiny holes on the side using e.g. toothpick. Nothing worked so far as the stylus is too smooth and shiny to get a grip on using pretty much anything. I wonder if the only way is to get HTC support to open up the casing to get it out.HELP!!!!
I've tried search but surprised that with these fragile styli no one else here has had a similar problem. I've used many other PPCs before e.g. HP and Dell and I have to say their styli are much more rigid then these.
I had the same problem.
When you take the battery out you see a white thing, there you can push it away whit a small knive.
I hope that you now what i mean because my englisch is not so good.
I had the same problem with a Malaysian Dopod. The service center in KL is replacing all "broken" stylus with new ones as a warranty repair. Seems a lot of them are breaking. Also the most failure prone stylus are the black ones. The stylus from thw white 810 do not seem to have the manufacturing defect.
The service center in Hong Kong refuse to replace the stylus even under warrantee (only bought 2 weeks ago!!). To my great surprise they CLAIMED that my problem is unusual and it is rare that stylus can break so easily (and i just had 2 broken in one week!!)
I've tried the whole day today to take the stylus out trying everything. I probably may need to take the phone to be serviced.
I have the same problem and i fixed with a little bir of contact adhesive in the plastic part (very small drop of adhesive). Then i put the plastic into the phone slot and when it fix with the metal part, just pull and rescue and repaired the stylus at once!
Hey gang,
I got a spare battery and external charger to take with me when I am traveling.
my question is...has anyone broken the battery cover or the 'locking' tabs while removing the door? I am trying to figure out how careful I should be, or should I try to limit the number of times that I open/close the casing?
thanx
mine had the camera lens cover knocked out & split in half a long time ago (the seam between texture & gloss plastic). just ask HTC for a new one on their website. theyll send a new one.
Mine was fine coming on and off. I did break a tab however when I dropped my phone.... but who's fault is that?
Hello forums again. I have given my RAZR m to my mother recently and she dropped it in the tub a couple days ago. We put it in rice immediately. Didn't touch any buttons. The phone came on fine a few hours later. Just today, he phones battery has been showing a "?" instead of a percentage. She's running cyanogenmod 11 btw. I'm pretty sure the water caused it but I'd like some assistance please. Thanks

Take it apart and clean the corrosion from the battery connector if you can... More then likely you'll have to get a new battery and that may not even resolve the issue... This happen to me on a HTC incredible and a droid 4 but it was my daughter drooling on them that caused it... As we have a non removable battery the power had constant connection while in the rice which caused the connectors to corroded more then they would with out the constant supply of power... The device is unable to get a proper connection to the battery due to the corrosion... Cleaning the connectors or getting a new battery may resolve the issue... Over time if that resolves the issue the device may lose functionality all together... On my d4 the proximity sensor went out then the touch then the screen just stopped illuminating...

Well thanks. I will try. But this phone is difficult to open.

Two screws under the moto logo three under the bottom where the mic hole is (I think 3 maybe 2) and the 6 on the sides... Use a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive and a guitar pick or credit card to pry the bottom and the moto logo... Then there will be two clips on the bottom pry gently ... Once separated lift only about half inch to an inch use the card to pry up the digitizer connection... Then your good to go... There's a few vids on YouTube this is on of the easier devices to deassemble compared to the other devices I've taken apart

My current issue is the whole screw part. I don't have the right tools right now.

Hi!
It suddenly rebooted once, I thought the LineageOS was too much for it since I have upgraded it a month ago (maybe two)
Then I had troubles downgrading to a stock FW which was a Lollipop 501 if I'm right. I had to restart the procedure with Odin 2-3 times until it worked.
To be able to get through the initial setup I had to let the phone rest for an hour to let it cool down.
I'm guessing the soldering between the board and the chip got loose or the contacts are imperfect because of the constant overheating.
Can it be? Would a threatment with a heat gun solve this? My PS4 was damaged because of bad cooling / overheating and I could repair it with the heat gun before. Easy-peasy.
It was borrowed from a friend living faaaar away, hence I haven't tried it with the S4 yet. I'm not sure tho' if I can use such a heat on a tiny phone board as on a much bigger PS4 board. (Even the cpu is bigger than the whole mobo of the phone)
One thing is sure, a hair dryer - with maximum heat dead close for 5 minutes - didn't do the trick But that's not even close to the performance of a heat gun.
Thanks!
Hair dryers don't get hot enough to melt solder. A heat gun would work but you have one big issue to overcome: the heat shield. You have to remove the heat shield from the motherboard, then wrap the entire board except the SoC in aluminum foil before applying the heat gun. However, I don't believe a heat gun will help you in this case.
I would get the device checked out by someone who repairs smartphones before attempting to take the device apart to apply the heat gun. The symptoms you are having are not consistent with a SoC lifting from the board.

thanks!
what else can it be? i can do a thing or two with electronic devices even if i don't have exact training in the field in question. let's put it this way: if you tell me what to do i can do it. also the board has got about 5 bigger parts and a bunch of small ones. it isn't "rocket surgery"
i don't know about heat shield, i removed the mobo and it looks just like this:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bd/Samsung_Galaxy_S4_I9505_mainboard.jpg
my second thought is that the memory (call it whatever you want) is at its lifecycles end? (too many read/writes, stuff like that?)
it isn't about software that's for sure. as the lcd works i can just buy another s4 broken in two with working mobo and deal with it that way. faster and seems easier (maybe also cheaper) if the heat gun thing wouldn't work.
The side of the board where the SIM card and MicroSD card slots are is the heat shield I was referring to. The card slots are actually stuck to the top of the shield using adhesive. Underneath that shield is the SoC and flash memory. In order to get the board to appear like the picture you likely removed the heat shield.
As to what it could be? A faulty surface mounted component on the board, but without a tech to diagnose it there's no way to know which component failed. If you can frankenstein one good phone out of two, assuming both phones are the same model, I would. The cost to repair it simply isn't worth it today.

yeah that's what i thought.
i think you are wrong with the sim-sdcard compartment. that i have already exchanged once when i had this "no sim card detected phone rebooting" annoying issue. under this sim-sd part is nothing but the plain board with a 2 sided sticky layer. but no chips, no nothing.
but it doesn't really matter since i'll just get a new(er) phone and that's it.
thanks anyway for the help!
cheers

@rigo88: You're most likely right. It was three years ago that I had replaced my SIM card tray, and I'm not about to take my S4 apart again just to check, even though it no longer serves as my daily driver.
I wish you luck with your new device.
