Android's biggest flaw!!! - Galaxy S II General

Hello xda world.. A week ago I bought my sgs2 and I couldn't be happier.. It is indeed the best smartphone on the market and since the battery life lasts twice as long as my previous htc hd2... I think i will stick with this phone for a long time. There is only one annoying
That keeps me from being absolutely satisfied with my smartphone: The Calendar.
I am using google calendar for work, private and other things. Meaning I have a separate calendar for the separate categories. As most of you know sometimes you make a mistake when creating a new event by saving it on the wrong calendar and I just do not understand why android phones dont give you the option of moving an event from one calendar to another. Once I was reminded of this fact on my sgs2 I felt a bit frustrated. So maybe there actually is a fix for this that i am not aware of? If anyone has any Information about this subject... Please let me know. You developers out there.. I would donate good money if anyone can fix this

Please, add better & more relevant thread titles, "ANDROID BIGGEST FLAW!!!" is really for eye-catching & getting attention for your problem, but it's really annoying to see such thread titles for problems like that, I don't want to reply to your problem just because of that.
Something like "My problem w/ Android calendars" would be 100x times better.

Something like "My problem w/ Android calendars" would be 100x times better.
And might get an answer more to the point .

Your biggest flaw is the ability to select appropriate thread titles

I've been using Jorte for half a year now. Best calender app there in my opinion. Anyway - don't know about the stock calender, but in Jorte it is easy to move an appointment from one google calender to another.

I know this is rather offtopic but you mentioned having an DHD before your Galaxy S2. Since you have both phones, I'd like to get an opinion. Do you prefer the Galaxy S2 over Desire HD?
And what about the difference between HTC Sense and TouchWiz?
You see .. I'm ordering a new phone next Monday and can't pick. First I had the Desire HD on my mind until I read about the Galaxy S2. Now I'm having trouble deciding.

Thanks I will give Jorte a shot.

I didn`t have a Desire hd but an HTC HD2. I guess it`s a matter of taste but if you wanna know my opinion: between the desire hd and Galaxy S2.... its not a hard choice... I would definitely get the Galaxy S2 if I were you.
I have never been a big fan of Sense in the first place... have been using launcher pro so far but after trying touchwiz for a week I must say its growing on me.

Here's two other calendar irritations I have observed -
1. my phone / tab syncs with my office Exchange server and frequently receive calendar invite for calls with the ppt attached to the invite...even after accepting there is no way I can see the attached ppt unlike the blackberry
2. Even after accepting the calendar invites, when I access my Exchange emails the invites still remain there in not accepted stage...

Well I've used Jorte for a while, I also used a lot of other apps. I prefer Calengoo when it comes to my Google Calendar. While the widgets are not the best, the app is near perfect.

TAT 3D interface working on a desire

Hi Everyone
The Engadget show, demo'd some great UI's from TAT using 3D on a desire!
Take a look:

or direct on youtube:
3D Map UI: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InBOO8jrnM0
could be a real possibility! Hope its gets leaked!
2D/3D List:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I5reODnVdc
The clip from Engadget is much better, the host even jokes about the apk file
OH MY LIFE!
Been waiting on news from TAT for months. Glad to see it working on the Desire. Doubt itll leak though, theyve been testing for a year or so and no one has dropped anything. Dont wven know if any testers had posted anything about it.
Sent from my HTC Desire
The demo showcases what is possible with the desires hardware and possible routes for future smartphone UI's
It can offer us so much more. Just need more devs on board!
Well, if we can generated a lot of interest, we might see some movement from TAT!

Just shows that HTC arent the only ones to make a great overlay system on Android. Theyve taken the benchmark and gone an extra mile with their work.
I absolutely love everything ive seen from TAT, its just visually stunning and looks easy to use. Heard they arent going to release it publically via the market etc, but that was a while ago and its come a long way since then.

wow thats awesome.
hope its not true that they wont release it publicly
thats pretty immense.
not a fan of sense, and android being ugly, this pretty much has me gobsmacked.
would happily kill people to get this.
I'm sure someone would be able to "acquire" this, seeing as the people here have repeatedly performed the impossible, and done nothing short of miracles
I look forward to this, even more than gingerbread or the new sense
only problem now, this will now haunt my dreams till it's on my desire

Over a year of testing on old devices and now up to date ones, not a single apk has been leaked. Theyve done the best job at keeping it hush than any other devs and im impressed by it. Annoyed, but impressed
Sent from my HTC Desire
They have apparently released a few TAT home beta "previews"
"Why wasn't I part of the UX Preview?
We were completely overwhelmed by the number of people who signed up. To keep things under control and take care of feedback in a good way, we could send the preview out to only a few of the 60,000 who offered to participate."
http://tat.se/home/
Surely someone would of leaked it, but heh.
EDIT: It seems like the UI is a "for sale" basis to vendors who want a custom UI. So no marketplace apk, maybe a flashable zip, but chances are, it's going to be like sense. A major annoyance
Found a Fuse concept phone bearing the TAT3D which has been designed by thealloy.com, who, judging by their website, have worked with several large UK companies to bring "interesting" styles to the home...

But i think Htc in future go like Apple for a society Phone. Because the last update for example Desire to Desire HD is like the "Taking-Money-Product-Update" from Apple.
Its my opinion of Viewing the things for now. It can be wrong but it acts for me so

My opinion, The TFT screen looks not well.
A few questions about the Samsung Galaxy S Wifi x: Playing content via PC speakers
Hi
It sounds as if you've got one of the "new" Samsung Galaxy S Wifi x media players - correct?
Can you tell me how you rate the device?
I'm not really interested in the screen as such since I plan to focus mainly on music and podcast play.
Also do you know any way that you can route the content on the player back out through PC speakers?
Lastly what if any, replacement music/podcasting apps did you select?
Thanks in advance.
I got one off of woot last month (YP-G70 5 inch, it's the Korean version). I like it quite a bit. At first, it felt too large, but I've warmed up to it.
For podcasts, I'm currently using doubleTwist. It's OK, but I'm wishing it was a little bit smarter. I'm replacing a Zune with this and I miss being able to open a podcast "folder" and click "Play all new." I wish it would track and indicate which episodes I've already player. I don't know if I like how it syncs with he doubleTwist desktop app. It seems a bit bare-bones.
There's also BeyondPod, which downloads podcasts directly to the device, but I didn't like it enough to pay $7 for it.
I'm also playing with Akimbo and MortPlayer for audiobooks. Not sure which I like more yet.

Could I press you a little further?
Do the Korean version have more onboard RAM? I also have a zune & I liked a lot of things about the software. Do you know if the Korean versions are available outside of Korea?

Call Log

Whos ingenious idea was it to include EVERYTHING in the call logs??
We have messages received, sent, rejected, calls recievd, made, rejected all in one giant list.
And if you called or messaged someone more than once then those entries are repeated that many times. This makes absolutely no sense to me and a nightmare to navigate and find a recent number.
I know that you can filter that list, but its very cumbersome and not practical to do that all the time.
I wish the call log was just that - a calls only log. And it would group the same number dialed successively together so they don't eat up multiple entries.
Nobody else baffled by this?

Totally agree. I don't even use the Call Log anymore.

Please don't be a child. I love many aspects of the phone and enjoy it as much as I enjoy the iphone.
In my opinion there are quite a few things about the Sgs2 OS that can use some polish to make it a truly stand out product. Hardware wise seems as though Samsung have nailed it

Yes but the catch there is that there isn't a separate Home Screen and Apple Drawer so its only about organizing your home screen the way you see fit.
In android we have home screen organization and apple drawer organization which again is not neccesary.

Yeah but it isn't terribly useful when you quickly want to see the last few calls you got and this is what you see when you open up the logs
I agree .. the messages should not be there ..
The messages appearing in the call log used to frustrate me something rotten. I now use Go SMS Pro and the messages no longer appear in the call log. Perfect!

Blackberry

Question to the XDA big guns.
Will there ever be any plans to start supporting the blackberrys on here, im just curious because i know there is 1 or 2 forums, but none are as good as XDA, and been one of the most common and popular phones of 2011 i own one, so i just wanted to ask, or if you guys here know of any such forums similar to XDA for mods etc ??

I agree completely, still love my bold, for the sheer simplicity and ease of use and of course the bbm service, i dont like the way theyve gone with the new bolds, not sure a touchscreen bb is worthy, but i do love the 9780, great camera and phenomenal battery life, its a real shame to see bb dying, still has a lot to offer in the right hands.
Thanks anyway you guys for the answers, crackberry seems not to bad, unfortunatley still not as good as xda, im just dissapointed that theres a great IOS forum but nothing for the BB.

LOL, I just went to sign in for the hell of it, and it's completely changed again. You have to go through a whole new sign up process even after signing in with your old account then choose if you are a 'type' of entertainer(musician, comedian etc..) or a fan. Then import things from your old account. Except since noone uses it anymore, you can't import any old friends, can't import your pics..pretty much only entertainers who you friended that also ported over their account.
It's set-up COMPLETELY different, the whole page layout is confusing. Everything is side scrolling.
Edit:There is a reason why noone uses side-scrolling in large web applications, I guess Myspace didn't get the memo.
