I got mine in Wisconsin at Staples store for $40. Or you could order form staples.com

I have the case. Not super crazy about it, but better than the tablet being it's naked slippery self. Tight fit getting it on or off, but still slips in the case just a tiny bit in use. The slipping causes things like the front facing web cam will not be aligned it its port.
The actual opening to get the tablet inside is at the bottom of the case when the cover is open in "stand mode" so that can allow the above mentioned slipping also.
The stand function is passable, but I think the angle it creates is a bit too shallow and causes the screen to catch glare from overhead lights. I would like if it stood the tablet a little more upright to escape that glare.
I've seen a very similar case for the iPad series, so we are not alone.
So, not perfect, but better than nothing.
isn't it the same thing like the official ipad 1 case last year

Agreed. I kinda like mine but would really prefer a slim well fitting leather folio. One nice feature of the case is it doesn't weigh much, so your tablet still feels very light in your hand, which is never the situation with a leather case.
The stand angle is definitely crap though - if I set it on my desk at work it invariably reflects the overhead lights into my eyes. The ability to adjust it even slightly would make that easier.
And agreed - the tablet sure moves around inside the case a lot considering how tight it fits.
the stand position is actually pretty nice for me. i use it at my desk at home (with lamp light, no overhead) so thats probably why i like it. but the only thing i dont like is the cheaply velcro used (seems to undo to easily, i would prefer magnets like a cell phone case) and the slipping out during use. other than that i like it
I've got one of these too, and I noticed that if the slightest bit of anything gets on it, it looks ugly. It was on a table when a bottle of soda got spilled, only a few drops hit it, and you can see exactly where those drops hit it at.
As far as the case goes, it would be a lot better if the flap was magnetic, and if there was something for it to catch on on the back when it's flat. It's obnoxious to have to deal with putting it into the stand shape when you're just holding it to check your e-mail.

At least the case did its job and protected the tablet from your soda damage. Also, the case cleans pretty easily with a damp cloth.

I have had the Acer case for a couple of weeks. It feels like wetsuit material. but does the job, and it is easy to wipe any dirt off it. I did cut a inverted 'V' so that the microphone was not obstructed.
All the ports are easy to get to but, nevertheless, exposed. So, I wanted a sleeve that I could slip the tablet into when placing it in my briefcase, and I found the attached at a store that sells Japanese goods (the case is actually from China.) See attached photo.
This fits the A500 in the Acer case very nicely, and good enough to take into a meeting.
The cost of the case: $1.50.
ps. The store is Daiso Japan and the item is Plastic Case (B5) 497 990 9845 486. Nothing unique about it and I am sure you can find similar ones around from other stores.
I bought this case and am not too thrilled about it. I already have an Arkon stand so the built-in stand function is kind of useless, and really just makes that side of the cover really flimsy. The case attracts too much "stuff" and degrades the look of the product and it doesnt fit like a glove as you'd think. I also dont like how it doesnt cover up the bottom of the A500 at all, nor the fact that if you dont use the stand fuction, the tablet has a tendency to fall out of the case, since its on "backwards."
that... and the smell... ugh.
Amazon has it on sale today for 29 bucks
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Iconia-A...14JA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1307123390&sr=8-2
second that on the smell i bought a 10 inch netbook bag today to replace the case
I have the official case and am about to ditch it for a folio style from ebay.
Not only does it look tatty when it is on, it's almost impossible to clean the screen with it on, as all the dust etc collects in the corners, and constant removal and replacement has stretched the opening so I now have the dreaded 'slide' effect.
In addition to this, obviously something abrasive has got between the screen and the case (still waiting for my screen protector to arrive) and put a tiny gouge in the screen on the black bezel near the docking connector - rather knocking on the head the assertion that this is covered in 'Gorilla Glass'.
And lets be honest, the Iconia is a beautiful looking bit of kit, and putting it in the official case makes it look rubbish.
In all, 30 quid wasted!
This case is pretty much garbage. I've had it as long as it's been out and here's the low-down...
When you get it, it reeks. I thought that the shipment of cases was accidentally dropped in a puddle of gasoline. But it turned out that was just from the material the case was made of. It did go away eventually though. It took about 30-40 days but now my case is reek-free.
The second problem was the slip issue. The tab slides down at about 3-4mm, which may not seem like a lot, but it's actually the perfect annoying amount. It causes the front camera to be blocked by the case itself, the speakers to not line up correctly, the bottom part of the front side of the case comes close to blocking you from using the task bar buttons efficiently, and the ambient light sensor is blocked. Some members on here have recommended double sided tape, but don't waste your time. It just slows the slipping down and it doesn't stick to well to the case material. Now I have an entire roll of Scotch double-sided tape that I will never use. However, I have found great success with heavy duty Velcro. I bought a pack with two strips from Staples and used half of one of the strips, cut into 2 and popped them on either side of the Acer logo on the back of the unit. It holds okay with the case material, creates just enough wedge pressure in the back, while allowing you to take the tablet out of the case if you really want to. My front camera and taskbar buttons have not been blocked at all since implementing this Velcro. One user here mentioned that they did some sewing and sewed the unit into the case at the opening and that works well. If my Velcro doesn't work as a more subtle solution long-term, I may go in that direction. I can't help but wonder if the case was made upside-down, would we have the slip problems at all (the opening is at the bottom when you hold it naturally).
The best thing about this case, though (and why I keep bothering to attempt to fix it) is that I love its stand features. The stand on the back is nice, and frankly, better than some of those ugly alternative bulky stands out there. I can stand it up on the table while sitting and eating, or flip it upside down and use the slighter stand to ramp it up just enough while laying down in bed.

I bought this case a while back and have not had any problems with it. It's easy to clean with a damp cloth, and protects my tablet. I have not had any issues with my tablet slipping yet. The stand also seems to be stable enough for me. The one thing I did do though was remove the Velcro and glue two tiny rare earth magnets in their place. Now the case snaps shut and stays shut. I wish I could add one more magnet to keep the cover open when holding the tablet.

Since implementing the Velcro solution mentioned in my previous post, no interference from slipping! Recommend!
Yeah I might try the Velcro if I start having problems with it slipping.

Anyone know of a hard case for the kaiser that covers everything? I do *not* need to be able to see the screen or press any buttons while it is in the case, I want something *tough* to put it inside that will fit in my pocket and take knocks.
UK please...
I'm using a Pdair Aluminum Metal Case
They do free postage to anywhere and are sent from Hong Kong. I've bought many products over the years from them and are very well packaged/presented.
Edit: I just noticed you said UK. I've had the products sent to both New Zealand and Taiwan with free postage and takes around a week.
http://www.cases.com/eltytn2h.htm
I got this case about a week ago and am loving it. I like the pockets for storing microsd cards. The "credit card" pockets aren't wide enough for anything but paper. There's a pocket beneath those pockets to keep my swipe card for easy accessibility. There's a hard insert in the leather so it's very stiff and will not touch the screen. It was tight on the tilt for a day or two until the leather loosened up. No belt clip option on it which is what I was looking for. open access to plug, buttons, camera, and everything.
Just noticed they are on backorder.
nope, I am looking for a rigid plastic pocket - open at one end as splitting down the middle makes it weak. I am looking to do off-road downhill sports with the kaiser running memory map (see sig) in my pocket. Something that, should I take a fall, the kaiser will have a reasonable chance of survival. Leather pouches, protective fascias and the like just aint gonna cut it.
I am looking for something like this too, but I am in the US.
http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=896
Best case ever made imo it doesnt need removing either when you need to use the keyboard although it doesnt protect the screen, I use an additional screen cover for that protects against damage.
For the seido, from post #6, that case does neither cover the buttons nor the screen.
thanks though
If you're looking for a severe duty case, these guys are highly recommended and service customers globally.

My coworker gave me his Pal Treo case where he had his Tilt in.
Fits in my pocket too.

That Palm case is slick, but I don't think it'll handle the extended batteries.
If i file the raised groove that makes the tilt/treo fit snug, i think it can clear about 2mm more room. dont know how much thicker the bigger battery can get.
i picked up one of these ebay specials http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=350037529875&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=022 covers the screen but not the buttons. for the price i'm not complaining.
+1 to the peli case suggestion. I do already own a peli case (In fact that's the "Camera case" I mentioned in one of my earlier posts) but I don't think they really do one in a suitable size / weight - their cases are maybe *too* over-engineered to put in a pocket. I did notice a page on their site where you could submit the inner dimensions you want in a box so I popped in the kaisers vital statistics (plus a bit of depth to allow for an ext battery) - let's see what they come back with.
Would not think twice about buying peli again, absolutely top notch quality.

If you need a second buyer for one of these count me in. Their standard cases are just a bit big. Same with the Otterbox cases. I am looking for something that looks like the Palm case above but has the ruggedness of a Pelican or Otterbox.
I am looking for something similar. I would like to attach my TyTN II to my bike. Standard bike mounts (such as http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=11492 ) are not an option for me, since they don't protect a PDA a little bit.
I have in mind something similar to Just Mobile Rugged Case ( http://www.just-mobileonline.com/products_protectionseries_4.html ) but they make it for HTC Prophet only (although dimensions are not very different).
I was looking at the Otterbox as well, but they are huge, ugly and expensive (shipping to Slovakia would cost twice as much as the case itself!).
Pelican looks good but I want a case that would fit my PDA well (is suited for it).
Yesterday I have ordered PDair aluminium case ( http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000164&products_id=6561 ), will post here as soon as I recieve it, if it's strong and protective enough.

Looks like we both have the same needs in a phone protector. If you don't mind after using it for a while commenting on whether your phone reception/signal strength/gps is altered by the metal case.

Pelican Cases For Tilts - Overkill - Yes
It's like killing a fly with a .357 magnum.
Until Pelican goes from, "Tell us the interior dimensions you'd like to have and we'll let our engineers know!" to "Tell us the interior dimensions you'd like to have and we'll MAKE IT FOR YOU", I'll keep on looking. Pelican cases are GREAT, no doubt. But, from a practical standpoint, I can't see how you would implement a reasonable and acceptable convenient access/storage of your phone with these Pelican Cases. I own several, but I use mine to store things like My Surefires, other sensitive gadgets, important external portable hard drives, my telescope and astrological bino filters, etc. For things like these, you can't beat Pelican. But, for in and out continual use, it would get real old real quick, whipping out the Pelican case to get your phone before you miss the call. Plus, I have broken a few nails just opening them up in a hurry. Not that matters to men, but for me, it’s a *****.
The Treo, from the photos, looks most conducive to housing the Tilt, but not with the extended battery in place and I agree, a little shaving off the Treo case and it'll probably work. I am using a treo leather case with a single snap over the top. I have a screen protector on and a big ass extended battery. I have the hard rubber case, but the back plate will not work with the extended battery in place so it sits in my drawer. Too bad too because even with the camera hole on the front, the face plate would've hidden the at&t logo in the upper right of the casing. Leaving it on by itself looks silly. Bummer.
Anyway, I just wanted to give you my perspective since I have Pelicans and know their capabilities and at the same time recognize their limitations in terms of storing this or that.

is your "hard rubber case" the Seidio one? If so do you want to sell it?
Jeff
I use the pelican cases a little differently. I place a RAM mount ball on it so that I can carry the phone in a watertight compartment on my motorcycle/bicycle/atv etc.
I have been thinking lately that I may just make one myself with the polymorph stuff I used in my brodit passive to active car mount mod
Would probably involve puttting the phone in a bag like I did in the cradle mod and wrapping it in polymorph. I am a little concerned that if I did it, it would mould a little too well to the phone and I wouldn't be able to get it out. I suppose I could fill in the screen area with cardboard or something and tape a ridge of material on each side (where the buttons are to ensure there is a groove in the case to stop it pushing the side buttons and roller) before putting it in the bag.
I am thinking an open ended "cup" with a hole in the bottom of the cup so you can push the phone out with your finger. I think if i did it so it went in with the USB towards the bottom of the cup, the hips near the bottom of the kaiser would hold it in place until it was pushed out by putting your finger through the bottom.
Would anyone actaully be interested in reading a user generated review of cases for the TP? I'm a case freak; always trying to find the best one. Now I have cases from the following:
Proporta ALU-Leather
Krussell Orbit Multidapt
PDair Aluminum
PDair Leather
Noreve is on the way.
If I get a couple of positive replys I'll do it and if negative then why bother?
I would be interested in reading a user generated review of cases for the TP
I believe most, if not all, of the present Touch Pro user would like to hear a "first hand" review of these cases mentioned.
Case Review
I would certainly love to read case reviews. I've already blown £20. on a Krusell Flex case for my TP which is not only unusable, but damaging to the slide mechanism. Please review away...
I myself also love to hear what you gotta say about the one from Noreve.
The Noreve Case is in mine opinion the best. I did not tested the hardcase (waiting for DHL). Some pics of the Noreve :

I would also like to see a case review! I will link to it on my website:
http://www.fuzemobility.com
I am going to take some pictures this weekend and try and make up a word file that I can upload. But let me just say this. Today I recieved the Noreve case for the TP. I am impressed. In a nutshell, (no pun intended) I'd say the following:
1. Noreve: The case holds the device via tabs that snap around the edges of the front of the case, but allow easy sliding of the front off the keyboard. With the TP OPEN, the pressure of the tabs on the keyboard area keeps the back of the device securely agains the back of the case. In addition on the Krussell, the PDair and the Proporta, the keyboard is held in place by a plastic sleeve that the keyboard slides into. The plastic sleeve may hold the thing quite securely, but the shiny plastic makes seeing the keys more difficult in my opinon. The case is smart looking with 2 tabs for microSD cards in the front cover. I imagine with a little imagination one could put a little cut between these and it would then hold a seperate SIM card. The flap that holds the case shut has a strudy snap that snaps over the BACK of the case so if the device is ON, you are not hitting the screen and possibly activating some program or dialing some phone number when you snap it shut. The ONLY drawback to the Noreve case and I feel this is easily worked around is that the snap closure and the button that goes on the belt clip are in front of each other so when you go to remove the device from the clip there is risk of unsnapping the snap...not a big deal really. You can easily turn the device to one side to remove it from the belt clip and not have the snap come open. The Noreve case feels like real leather. It smells like real leather and it is nicely padded. I opened it up just now and holding onto the flap that covers the device, shook the thing back and forth(over some pillows I might add) and the device makes no attempt to come out of the little tabs holding it to the back of the case. While the Noreve case does not have a seperate opening for the speaker on the back of the device, the speaker is VERY close to the camera area for which there IS an exact cut out that matches the diamond shaped area on the back of the TP. I cannot really hear a difference in ring sound quality in the case or out of the case. Thre is a small hole on one of the bottom tabs that holds the device so it is easy to do a soft reset. In addition, the leather tab that sepertes the front cover from the back cover is very soft and pliable so you can simply turn the thing to the back and hold the phone comfortably during a call. The Noeve case makes accessing the stylus quite easy.
2. PDair aluminum case. In the past I have liked these kinds of cases. However for the TP the aluminum case is the absolute pits. First it does not do anything when open to secure the TP device. The TP simply fits in the enclosure without any means of keeping the device secure. It is hard to use with the cover open. I think my pictures will make the review more meaningful, but I do not like the PDair aluminum case. With the case snapped closed the device is fairly secure, but since there is nothing to keep the device from falling out, if dropped I suspect the device would go flying. In addition I would stronly advice AGAINST this case since I am pretty sure it damaged the side of the device and now it is hard to pull the stylus out. I generally carry and PEN/Stylus combo so it is not a big deal to me and the TP stylus is too small for my liking anyway, but still, what a drag.
3. PDair leather flip type case. The snap is too weak to be functional. The flap the snap is on is too short to really comfortably go around the end of the device so it is hard to close it without having something on the touch screen activated.
4. Krussell Orbit Multidapt. I was VERY excited to see a Krussell case available for the TP. The snap has an intelligent location in that it goes over the top of the case and snaps in the back so theoretically one would not activate a program by pulling it over. There is plenty of "give" in the way the case fits over the device also, but the PROBLEM is that the snap is totally WORTHLESS since it is TOO weak to keep closed. I thought I had a great case in the Krussell, but anytime you MOVE the thing comes unsnapped and you have your screen potentially bumping into whatvever you come in contact with. Again, I think some pictures will help to illustrate this much better.
The Krussell does have 2 nice features, but they do not make up for the problem of the snap. One is that there is a small mesh window over the speaker and the other is that the front of the case does slide off via a little plastic male/female connector so theoretically you could mount it on a dashboard for instance without the case flapping in the breeze.
5. Proporta flip type case. A nice case and one that is useful, but the snap in this case comes around from behind at the bottom of the TP and snaps in the front. It therefore thends to get caught on whatever you are sitting near or walking past and comes unsnapped. It does not have a hole for the soft reset switch so you have to partially take it out of the case to do a soft reset.
In summary, while I think my review with pictures will be more useful, if you got to order a case for the Touch Pro, go with the Noreve case. They ship from California so I ordered mine on a Monday and got it in Houston on a Friday. Of the 6 cases I have got, the Noreve is the only one that seems to have been designed with the TP in mind. All the others were poorly executed in their design.
Why listen to me? No special reason really. I am not affiliated with any of the above case makers. My first PDA was a Casio E200 and then I have had IPAQ 6315, QTEK TyTn type, ETEN g500+ and most recently ETEN x500+. Curiously the Noreve case for the x500 was also a grand and useful case.
Thanks a lot for your review, I was about to order the Proporta but changed my mind for Norêve after reading this.
Where did you buy it from?
Thanks for the reveiws. Ido appreciate the info, so I hope you don't mind if I add a bit. I've always used and swore by Krusell cases, but the one for the TP is poorly designed. The Flex cover is loose fitting and the plastic over the keyboard is horrible. One of the things I love on the TP is the smooth open and close of the keyboard. Not only is that gone with the Krusell case, but I'm sure that in time it would loosen the mechanism.
I just received the PDair aluminium case and I'm afraid I disagree, I like it. It fits snugly into the neoprene inside and the cover closes tightly. Using the keyboard is a pleasure as there is no plastic over it. It protects almost all of the phone, yet I can answer a call and see (and hear)whose calling me without unsnapping anything. I was even able to order a windscreen mount for my car, so I can use the gps and view the screen without removing it from the case or having a flap hanging down. It only makes the device slightly larger, and it looks good.
11 13 2008 Update: Well, as I said, I am a case freak. The Great Escape came on last weekend late one night where the dude at the end escapes those nasty nazi's and finds himself in "Espana" so I thought well, feeling kindly towards Espana, I will go ahead and get the Piel Frama case for the Pro.....
Well no habla espanol...yeah yeah, that's Mexico not Spain, but my new fave case is the Piel Frama case. I got the tan leather one.
First of all the packaging is a pleausre to start with. PF packages their cases in this nice little tan and brown cardboard box with a nice little instruction paper and extra belt clip button and belt clip.
The device is held in place by virtue of a plastic sleeve the keyboard slides in to. This does potentially offer the same problem that some of the other cases offer in that in a shiny light environment, three is some reflection off the plastic, but it may be a worthwhile trade off. The lower edge includes a cut out for the mini USB port and the reset "button" hole. Because the TP power button is on the top "screen" portion of the device it is easily exposed.
The leather is wonderful quality, soft and supple and smells wonderful.
The cover comes around the right hand side of the device and while I really liked the way the Noreve case did this, the PF case outshines the Noreve case in that there is approximaely 2 mm more leather on the side panel. That 2 or 3 mm makes all the difference in that the covering flap then MUCH more easily covers the front of the TP.
The snap is on the back of the device, is a secure and tight closing snap. The screen on the TP is quite sensitive and I do not think there is any way to cover it while the device is on without potentially hitting the device and having something "come on" like the program tab on TF3D, but that is, I guess one of the trade offs for having a TP. (As an aside, I'm not quite as happy with my TP anymore in part because the GPS just does not work very well, but I do like the memory it contains and apart from the GPS it is a great pocket pc)
The "button" that slides into the belt clip is of a standard size and if you lose or break the PF belt clip, I am absolutely certain the generic belt clips you can pick up at some mom and pop cell phone kiosk at the mall will be an adequate replacement.
On the back of the case there is a "pill" shaped opening that reveals the camera lens and that stupid and woefully inadequate flash light. See elsewhere on this forum for the "torchbutton" application that allows you to use your device as your most expensvie flashlight...great for not waking up your wife at night when you go to bed...hahaha. Beside the camera opening is a mesh covered opening for the speaker.
On the front flap of the cover is a nicly stiched extra peice of leather that makes it look a bit like the pocket on a nice man's shirt. That is a nice touch. The PF case is the most expensive of the lot, but the quality of craftsmanship does stand out. In addition I suspect it is the only one of the lot that is truly made by hand by the manufacturer.
Overall I am inclined to think the Piel Frama case is an excellent case for the Touch Pro.
So in summary I would rate these cases in the following fashion:
1. Piel Frama: Only "minor" drawback is the shiny plastic covering the keyboard...perhaps a small tradeoff as it may also help protect against moisture. I don't think of my case freakiness as a fashion thing, but the PF cases are, well, quite fashionable. For fit and finish PF gets an A +++. For quality of construction PF gets and A+++ and for I suspect long term satisfaction I'd also give PF high marks. There is also just a tiny bit more leather all the way around which I think would offer a bit more protection if the thing were to take a tumble. The PF is the most expensive of the lot and for this reviewer I'd say truly worth it. They also ship world wide UPS. I ordered it late Monday evening and did not ask for any special shipping and I had it Thursday so they include good quality shipping in the price. Not a bad deal really.
2. Noreve: Almost identical to the Piel Frama except that it does not have the plastic at all, and the PF case seems to stay snapped better with taking it on and off one's belt clip. The PF beats it in that there is a bit more leather on the side peice so when you go to close it you don't have to tug it over. I see that the snap on the back of the Noreve is now pulled up taught against the leather which could lead to failure. That is not as likely to happen on the PF case.
3. Proporta: Might be preferred if you like your case to hang vertical v. horizontal on your belt, and includes my complaint that the snap while quite secure, does tend to bump into things and come unsnapped. The Proporta TP screen protector they sell is well worth a look. I've had the stylus up against the thing quite a bit playing solitaire and that silly break out game...can't think of the name and it is not pitted or overly sratched.
4. Krussell: A beautifully finshed case that also hangs vertical, but the snap closure is just almost nonexistant. If it were not for that lousy snap I'd really like the Krussell case. I'm going to try and find a fabric store and see if maybe they carry a snap that could be attached to this devcie. Probably do have such a snap, but I bet the leather would be totally torn up in the process of doing this. Krussell...shame on you for screwing up this way...I love your products, but this one stinks.
5. PDair cases.....The least expensive of the lot and for good reason. Don't waste your bucks, or diners, or pesos, or rubbles or marks or euros.
One final thought. It is the problem of the keyboard that makes any case for the Rafael be a problem. Sliding it into a plastic sleeve is probably the best way to hold the device, but the little tabs on the Noreve case do a fine job of holding it as well.
Dear reader: Your milage may vary. I take no responsibility for your pocket book, your device or your life.
Thanks for the reviews! Question, on the Piel Frama, are you typing on the slide out keyboard through a plastic sleeve? If so, are any of the others you reviewed the same?
I've always used a Pocket Solution case for my Tilt, and was just about to buy one for the Fuze when I came across your reviews.
Well I just got my Noreve case and to be honest, its better than I expected. I've gone against ones that cover the keyboard since of the 4 I've seen, all now have some play between the screen and keyboard, i.e. where the clear plastic goes.
With this case, no worries. Was very surprised at its grip of the phone despite not needing any effort to put it in. I do wish it had more leather round the edges. Belt clip is ok. Solid(ish). I don't like not having the ability to rotate it in the belt clip. My clip will maintain the angle in which you put it in, which is great except I can't put it in parallel to my belt as the case latch gets in the way. Apart from that, it feels good and well worth it. Mines was direct from Noreve. Well I just got my Noreve case and to be honest, its better than I expected. Had the Noreve for a week for the TP...
Hi All,
I was reading reviews and looking for a good case, in the end I went for the Noreve. I am in Australia so bought it from their Australian Website. Ordered on a thursday (late afternoon), received it on the following Tuesday.
I had a Krussell for my DoPoD, didn't like it at all because the leather didn't sit flush and too bulky. Decided not to try again, especially due to all the talk of the plastic over the keyboard.
The Noreve is pretty good. As someone else reported, looks and smells like leather. The belt clip is okay. I accidently used the clip from the old Krussel which was a bit better, but wouldn't lock the phone in place.
The one thing which is hard for me to get used to and is no fault of Noreve, is the way the case opens, from left to right, which is due to the keyboard sliding out to the left. Slowly adjusting...
I was worried a bit after I bought it about the clips that hold it in place, whether they would mark the TP. They don't. they are hard plastic and hold the phone securely.
All in all pretty good case, will report back if I encounter any problems.
I wish Vaja will come up with their touch pro case soon.
If not, do you think their universal case will do?
haha ^^ invisible**

it covers:
the battery cover
the camera and most of the space around it.
the lower back(where the speaker is)
it tries to cover the chrome strip of the keyboard part
and it covers the front where the camera is.
it lacks a lot of coverage for the front

Currently, it is not available in Singapore yet so no comments.
I've heard mixed reviews about this product, but I'm also waiting for my order to come in sometime this week so I can try it out. You've already seen it on Youtube or read reviews about it, but you won't know until you try it out yourself I guess. Hope that some of us will be able to answer your question soon.
I have mine in front of me, right now. It arrived this afternoon, so i am just thinking about fitting it, either tonite, or in the morning.
It cost me $24.95, and took 4 days to be shipped from US to UK.
As soon as i have fitted it, and tested it for a bit, I will post here, and let you know what i think of it.
What i do know, at the moment, is, The screen protector that is on the phone at the moment, (Carphone Warehouse own brand) Is a worthless piece of ****e. I find using the stylus comes naturally to me, so the screen gets a lot of stylus work done to it, and the screen protector on now is scratched to buggery.
So, I will be quite interested to see how the invisible shield is after a couple of weeks.
Will let you know.
Cheers.
I'm interested in getting one so waiting for your sharing...

Could you tell us exactly which parts the invisible shield covers? Im really interested about whether or not that chrome strip going around the phone is protected.
Looking at the sheet of parts i have here, i would say yes, the shiny narrow band round the side of the phone will be covered.
From what i can tell, by logical deduction, i think 95% of the phone, when the slider is closed, will be covered. There are no parts, whatsoever, for the keyboard, or other exposed areas, when the slider is open.
I will attempt to fit it all tomorrow, and report back.
Can you post a pic of the main screen area?
OK.
Have done the invisible shield fitting, and have to say, i'm a bit dissapointed with it.
As the above poster states, there is still quite an area of the phone that is not covered at all, however, most of the main "scratchable" areas are protected.
To attempt to list;- The battery cover, 99% covered.
The screen 99% covered.
The Camera lens etc, 90% covered.
Front Top (above screen) 75% covered.
Bottom 60% covered.
Top 60% covered.
There is absolutely no coverage of any parts exposed when slid open.
There is no coverage at either side of the screen, nor the sides of the screen section of the phone.
The material used does seem quite robust, but it is early days, and, as a stylus user, i will have to let time tell on my screen, how well it lasts.
The kit is pretty easy to fit, and it can be done by anybody.
I will report back after a few days of usage.
I'm interested most in the screen part. Is it really immune to scratch as advertised? From the outside look how is it compared to Martin Field?

i just ordered this today and im paying a premium.. more then the cost since im ordering it through another means... this is not sounding good for me? can you please keep us informed...also how is the scree n protetector sufficient? i plan to use it with my thumb and not stylus? is it too grippy?
When I say i'm a bit dissapointed, i mean that i thought more of the phone body would have been covered. As it is, there is still quite an amount of that shiny bit round the sides of the phone which is unprotected. Also, either side of the screen is unprotected.
The plastic material, i am quite confident about. It will do its job fine.
I have been using the stylus, (and a pencil) on the screen for about a day and a half, now, and i cant detect a single mark on the screen film.
If you look carefully at the 1st posters photo album, you can see where the gaps are in some of the film sections.
Wait so the chrome strip ISNT protected?
Also.. how did you go about installing the screen part? I was always worried about that liquid leaking into the phone :|
Ok invisible shield for the xperia SUCKS big time. Not only does it not cover the entire front face plate or the chrome part, but When I applied it to my battery cover, i noticed that I had some excess bubbles so i tried peeling it back a little to squeegy them and the xperia logo actually started to rip off! So now I have no choice but to keep the invisible shield on the battery cover so that the logo doesn't come off. Also I would never recommend putting it on the rubbery parts of the phone as it won't adhere as well as the smooth parts of the phone, I really expected more out of this product, but for the xperia it sucks.
can someone else confirm what this guy is saying^ should i ditch the full body protection and go martin fields?
does the screen protection work good though n4v1n?
O.K. after a bit more use, i can solidly say that i'm happy with the screen protector part of the invisible shield.
After several days use with the stylus, and a sharp pencil, i cannot detect any scratches on the film.
I still cant quite decide whether to leave some of the other parts on or rip em off, tho.
I think in some places, it spoils the look of the phone, but i want the protection it offers.
N4v1n,
Cant you use the liquid in the spray bottle, that comes with the invisible shield, to help peel off the film?
does it really peel off the xperia writing on the battery cover? Does it damage any of the other paint?
The damage had already been done the spray can't help me in peeling it off, If I do peel it of I will be missing at least 2 letters from the xperia logo. I didn't use the shield on any other part of the phone. I didn't buy for the screen protector as I use pdair for that, I have all the other parts of the shield but I am not going to use any of them as they are not made very well in terms of cut. The shield did not damage the paint afaik.
OMG! This thing is horrible!
I've previously used ppctechs.com write shield, which is far, far superior to this crap.
First off, this thing didn't even stand up to me ripping it off to wash off some dust that had attached itself to the underside. The corner that I carefully pulled back to pull it off is stretched out and flimsy. (Yes, I used the solution. It helped zilch in removing the protector from the screen.)
It's sticky when using (even after 24 hours). Really frustrating to use when thumbing through touchFlo or anything else for that matter.
It's nearly impossible to wash anything off of it (sticky side). I had a piece of dust get underneath when applying the thing and when trying to wash it off I had to use my fingernail to scratch it off which scratched the sticky residue underneath leaving a distinct marking under it. UGH.
Worst $30 bucks I ever spent...
Ok, so I let my brother borrow my Transformer to take with him as he spent the week at my mom's house. I should have known better...
Apparently my nephew dropped it, which caused an ugly dent directly on the corner of the bezel; in addition, one of the edges also developed a sizeable gap between the glass and the bezel that extended halfway across the tablet.
I decided to make a positive into a negative- I tore down the transformer, manipulated the bezel to be bent back into place (as close as I could get it), then polished it all the way around.
All in all, it was pretty simple - After tearing the TF apart, I just soaked the bezel in Greased Lightning for about 10 min to remove the anodization; then, I sanded it smooth using a combination of wet-sandpapers (800 Grit for the real rough spots, and a combination of 1000, 1500, 2000, and 3000 grit wet sanding paper); finally, I buffed it out using a cotton buff wheel on my dremel with Turtle Wax rubbing compound.

I can't imagine how much work would have to go into making the dock match the bezel like that. Personally I would be too afraid of breaking the keys on the keyboard during the removal process.
looks damn good. I was debating on doing a flat/matte/satin black thing with the bezel not too long ago.
just brought it back

That is beyond awesome. I've never really liked the color of the transformer, it's just so boring and uninspiring. This may be what causes me to void my warranty (The guys at my local Asus shop don't care that I rooted my transformer. When I returned it for a defect I even booted it up with the custom boot screen and told them I put an overseas version of the rom on it). I am definitely going to do this.
A couple of requests/questions:
1) Can we get some more higher quality or close-up pictures of the final product? I really want a better look at the back of it to see the contrast between the bezel and the back plate. Also of hinge, and well everything. The more pictures the better. I'm especially interested in pictures showing the contrast between the bezel/dock and the other parts of the transformer.
2) Also looks like you didn't do the hinge, right? Haven't taken mine apart yet, it's on my to do list, so I guessing that part may not be possible to do or really difficult.
3) What is greased lightning? I'm in China now, so I can't buy American brand names anymore. I know heavy duty cleaning product. But is it like for household or industrial use? I think I saw it once in autoparts store. I'm guessing it's like that purple power stuff I used to use to clean my motor and rims on my car. Had to wear thick gloves to keep it from messing up my hands.
4) Is sanding it necessary? Mine is undamaged and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm guessing the bezel is pretty thin and during sanding could easily be damaged. It looks like you just sanded out the damage that had occurred when it was dropped.
5) How did the key removal process go?
Once, again thank you. This is a totally awesome idea. I've got me some new Chinese words to learn so I can go buy the materials to make this happen.
I am glad that's you are interested! I will post more info tommorow and answer the questions that you have.

Sorry about the delay, I have been crazy busy lately. I havent had the opportunity to take any new pics yet.
To answer your questions in the meantime:
2). Your correct, I did not do the hinge. However, I am sure that it would be possible to polish that part also -- and I dont think that it would be very difficult at all. The only reason that I didn't go that far is because of time... My plan was/is to sell the transformer+dock together to offset some costs towards getting the Prime... It just got to the point that It seemed like any more time that I would sink into it wouldn't benefit me because I am going to sell it and I figured that it wouldnt get me any more $$$.
3). Your right on the track! Greased Lightning is very similar to Purple Power. As a matter of fact, I ran out of Greased lightning and I actually had to use Purple Power for the Dock.
The Greased Lightning worked better, but I am not sure if the Anodization was just more stubborn on the dock.
The MAIN INGREDIENT that needs to be in the cleaner is "SODIUM HYDROXIDE", which removes the anodization. It is commonly found in oven cleaners, such as "EZ OFF". I did use gloves and took the pictures from my phone during the process which is the reason I don't have more of them-- it became a pain, going back and forth cleaning my hands, taking off gloves, taking pics, etc...
When the anodization was removed I also rinsed the pieces with vinegar and lemon juice briefly to neutralize the acid before rinsing in water w/soap.
4). The sanding is necessary if you are looking for the mirror finish - it really depends on how far you want to go with it. I sanded the entire thing. The keyboard ended up being a real ***** because (and again, im not sure if it is because I used Purple Power instead of Greased Lightning for that part), the anodization did not come off 100% on the dock part with just the cleaner.
5). Although it was a bit tricky, the key removal process wasn't too bad, but it of course requires patience and its important to be careful. The keyboard is glued to the palmrest (top) portion of the dock and the board and everything else is screwed to the base of the dock.
After removing the screws (2 only under the back feet) under the feet I used a guitar pick to carefully unlatch/separate the dock - starting from the back.
After the dock was opened, the keyboard was attached to the board by a ribbon cable that looks the same as you would expect on a standard laptop keyboard. I attempted to raise the lock lever to release the keyboard ribbon connector, but it seemed like it was glued or stationary, so I decided to leave it alone to avoid breaking anything. ---As I was separating the keyboard from the palmrest, the ribbon cable slipped out, but I was able to finesse it back in without messing with the lock/latch and it works fine.
At this point, I went back to using the guitar pick to gently finesse the keyboard away from the palmrest portion that was to be polished. The two are attached with a fairly strong adhesive and just require patience. I used a heatgun during the process, but it didn't seem to really help at all anyways.
---From their on, I polished it, used superglue to reattach the palmrest to the keyboard, reassembled everything and I was good to go!

Really slick job! I like it a lot.
Thanks. It's freezing cold here and raining everyday for the next week, so not great weather to ride my motorcycle in to say the least. When the weather improves a bit, I'll begin my journey to find the materials I need. Thanks.
Also, you said "sodium hydroxide" (NaOH) was the key ingredient? That's lye, the main ingredient in drain cleaners, and an insanely strong base. Which means a drain cleaner may also be usable. I know where to get some drain cleaner, that I think is mostly NaOH with some thickeners mixed in. Also it's safe to use on metal so I won't have to worry about it damaging the bezel. I'm a chemist by trade so I think I maybe able to find a substitute for the the greased lightning. Also with what you said about the purple power not being strong enough, I can control the strength of the solution if I start with a concentrated NaOH solution. That'll be a lot easier to find than an industrial degreaser. Finding things in China can be a real pain sometime.
Try looking up the MSDS on Greased Lightning, I believe it gives the concentration of NaOH used.
What grit sandpaper would you stop at if you were going for a brushed metal look?
2000 wet or dry should work great for polishing. Stopping at 800 would give a rougher surface. If you want a true "brushed" look, try getting up to 2000 grit and neatly wipe the parts with a Scotch Brite pad. As far as de-anodizing I have used Easy off oven cleaner (the lethal yellow can) to remove it in the past. It works great, just let the parts sit in the warm sun for about 30 minutes before spraying the Easy Off on them.
Also, when your done polishing the parts, you can clear coat them to keep the shine indefinitely.

Awesome! I'll try the 3000. Do you have any suggestions on a brand of clear coat to use?
I picked up my tablet this morning and noticed there is some scuffing on the back. I tried to rub it off but that didn't do anything. I use my Note for school and I occasionally spin it from landscape to portrait mode. I must say for a $500 tablet I am a little disappointed. I will be emailing Samsung about this. I just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this with their Note 10.1? I haven't even had it for a month yet.
Yeah I think spinning anything on any kind of surface would leave scuff marks.

It doesn't matter whether a device is aluminum or plastic; drag it against a material that's harder than it is and it's going to scratch. If you don't like cases get it a skin. That'll probably hide your existing stuffs too. I never slide my devices against anything when their naked. I'll put it down and pick it as vertically as possible. I also get top dollar resale wise by taking care of them while I'm using them. So it's cool if you don't want to baby your toys but then expect wear and tear.
Its not like I am spinning it like a top. I will just place it on the desk and it to lanscape mode. The desk is not made of glass or metal it just a wooden desk so I don't understand how that would be harder then the case.
Tiny particles (to small to easily see) of grit, dirt, etc, trapped on the surace of the table, could scuff/scratch your note with ease. I learned my lesson many, many, devices ago. BUY A DECENT CASE! You'll make the money back on the re-sale.
No offense to the OP, but anyone who walks around carrying a $500 tablet without a case on it is just begging to have a broken, uninsured tablet.

Shortly after getting my Note, I went out and bought some inexpensive netbook skins and cut one to fit the back of the note. (Yeah, yeah - I know - kind of colourful.. but I was tired of everything always being solid black )
After just over a month - this is what the backing looks like. See the scuffing. The back takes a lot of stress. I have an Asus slipcase (ironically) that works beautifully for the Note (even has a loop to hold a full digital pen), but since I carry my Note in a Tucano vertical shoulder bag, puttng it in the slipcase then into the shoulder bag gets a bit tedious.
So yeah, I'd recommend either a slip case or putting a skin on the back. The skin also protects the back if you use their universal dock.
Sand is about 7 on the hardness scale. Diamond is 10. Plastic doesn't stand a chance. Buy a case that will absorb the punishment.
I purchased the Samsung Book Cover case which is working very well and adds hardly anything to the Galaxy Note 10.1. Here is quick video of the Book Cover.

Dont peel the plastic on the back when your first bought it and can have somewhat of a protection. I kept mine on and it still has a case.

And even diamond particles themselvs are sometimes part of sand and dust.
I got a small dent on the back of my note after a week.
I was really surprised as I thought it was made of some polycarbonate substance, so it must be metal.

People, this is why they make cases. :silly:

Good grief. Listen, i love XDA but what i dislike entirely is when some poor SOB asks a simple question, which is NEVER answered, and everybody jumps on the bandwagon and shoots the guy down. I used the prime and tf700 without a case and didn't have a scratch on the prime (yeah it's aluminum) but seriously, the issue is not that it's plastic or a $500 device. I had the original galaxy tab 7 and yes, no scratches either on the back.
I'm going to predict that the OPs galaxy note is.......(drumroll) GRAY and is .....(drumroll) 16GB. Am i correct? Let me explain.
SO there are two problems here. One problem was discussed earlier in another thread about squeaking. I recently had a gray 16GB. Squeaked horribly on the right side. Left side screen slightly "popped" next to the back arrow button down below. REad the forums and only a few people complained about things in that thread - but it seemed to be with gray. I made a statement about the gray and white seeming different, i can't guarantee but i can almost assure you they are. Why? Because i've had them both.
My new white one is more solid. I can't explain it. More solid all around, it *actually* feels slightly heavier. Doesn't feel like a "toy" so many reviewers gave it (more to that in a minute).
The White S-pen that i have is DEFINITELY lighter than the gray S-pen that i had. Again, we are talking maybe a couple grams. But it's noticeable. No popping in the back of my white, no squeaking on the right under the right speaker and where the spen slot is hollowed. The reason i'm mentioning all of this is because to me, they really are different, the gray and white.
The gray one seems to dent in six areas. Let me draw. (Attachment #1)
Okay. I used my tablet and kept it in my old A500 case by Targus 99% of the time. When it came time to swap it out, it had these exact same "surface" scratches on it. What the deal? Keep in mind my gray tablet HAD THE PLASTIC coating still on the tablet. WHich indicates to me that their might not be a surface layer under the gray tablet and the innards are pushing too hard on the outside of the tablet (#2)
"You are crazy, you have no proof" you say. OK. Let me make another point.
GO over ALL of the reviews for this tablet, the 8013 wifi edition by all the websites. Verge, androidcentral, engadget, android police, mobiletech, etc.
Notice which websites gave the tablet a thumbs up for durability (albeit plastic) which model color they had....white!
Now look to see which websites gave awful reviews about the tablets.....they had GRAY.
Don't believe me? Lisa Grade from mobiletech (who i've been following for years since the treo 300/ppc6600 and i730 reviews came in) even postulated in one of her comments that she suspected the white version held up better than the gray and their may have been some manufacturing differences. I've thought this all along, from what i've read and what i've felt.
Now i can add this picture as well, (#3) although it doesn't prove anything except they changed the graphic. Later date? Better marketing? Makes sense. What does your box show and if it's different, is it GRAY?
Hey, if your white versions have the same areas, we need to definitely post things here.
I got the picture of the scuffs from http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...iew-an-embarrassing-lazy-arrogant-money-grab/
Scroll down to the pictures (after glancing at the horrible review)

Lol, dude, you are the only one who called the OP an SOB. We just suggested he get a case - which is excellent advice by the way.

I second this. It's a terrific case because it's so thin and light. It also works with the desktop dock. I leave my Note in it all the time so both the back and display are protected. It's really more like the phone book cover for the SGS3 which is meant to be left on continuously than a traditional tablet case.

Apparently you're the only one.
Every device can be scratched. Whether an individual device is scratched or not is based purely on what it's subjected to. If I carry my devices without a case and they get scratched I don't blame the manufacturer, I blame myself. That's why most of the time, especially outside my house, my devices are always in cases.
As for the six "dents." I'm guessing that they're dimples because on the reverse side of the case there are probable spacers molded to the cover to prevent the back from compressing.
Mines got scuffs and dings on it.
Yes its sad that it is no longer aesthetically perfect.
But it doesnt function any less perfect so i dont let it bother me
@sledgie
Maybe they are different, most likely just in your head.. unless you can weigh both on a scale then .....yeah. remember kimmers' iphone video where everyone said the iphone 4s (thinking it was the 5) was lighter and faster? ..
Apple pees on your leg and tells you that it's raining.
..95% iPhone users believe.
