I've been seriously considering switching from my mt4g to an hd 2, would I be downgrading by doing this? Is it worth it? I've compared specs of both phones and basically the hd2 wins with the bigger screen and the option of 3 OS's and the mt4g wins with 720p recording and the 4g network. I've seen some really good deals on amazon for an hd2. Also should I buy the unlocked version or settle for the tmobile version?

if you buy one take the tmous version. for flashing roms the 1gb rom are very useful. with the normal version you always need an ext partition on your sd, especially with sense roms.

I did, I can't wait to put dual boot on it, it should arrive in a couple of days, $233.49 used in very good condition...I can't wait! What should I be looking in to while I wait?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
that's a good price. here you can't get the normal version with less rom under $300 used.
Hey i also downgraded from a galaxy s4g to the hd2, man it was well worth it even thought it doesnt have the front camera, you can still do so much with this phone
Congrats are in order I love the hd2 take this from someone who used to work for T-Mobile it's well worth the downgrade!

Ok so I got the phone but the touch screen is un responsive, should I go ahead and return the phoneor is there a solution ? How do I return a phone if I bought it on Amazon?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Definitely return it if the touchscreen doesn't work. Non-functional or malfunctioning digitizers are a relatively common problem in the HD2, and aren't a very easy thing to fix yourself, or very cheap to have fixed. Definitely get your money back if it's totally unresponsive.

I will have to wait untill Tuesday, I also noticed that the end call key is sort of stuck, it still works but its harder to press, Ive been reading these forums and saw that that may be the problem. Well I ordered a "new" hd2 and returning this one on Tuesday *sigh* more waiting time.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Yep, that sounds like a damaged digitizer ribbon all right. Man that sucks, sorry bout your bad luck, but at least you have a new one on the way.
Its finally here! Time to get started and this one actually works perfectly!

Ugghhh...just shipped my HD2 this morning. Replacing it with an HD7...big mistake. Buttons are complete garbage. Build just feels sub-par in general.
Long story short, if you want the look of Windows Phone 7, use Hyperdroid with Launcher 7.
Just some random friendly advice to anyone thinking of switching.

It may have worked then but this time you were changng from a HD2 (THE GREATEST PHONE THERE IS) to another phone. So maybe you should have atleast found somewhere to test the HD7 out first to see if it really was worth changing to.

Yeah, would have been a good idea. I knew ahead of time that it had received some mixed reviews, but I thought it would still be usable.
Looks like HTC might honor the warranty. Sending in on Monday.

Don't get me wrong, Windows Phone 7 is awesome, but if you're looking for HD2 build-quality, I'd look elsewhere.

Yeah, I blindly bought my HD2 as well. Good move there. Bad move with HD7. Bad move with Samsung Vibrant. Good move with N1.
Need to settle on a phone and keep it.

It should ONLY apply to the HD2.
Well, the HD2 I got is far from perfect. The hardware buttons move about 1mm left and right and the display sinks deeper into the chassis in two corners.
Last week I ordered an HD7 and returned it because the back covers did not match evenly. But that might be O2s fault, as it's a branded device and they increased storage, so I guess I can't blame HTC for that. Well, fact is that HTC produces great devices, but if you have bad luck you'll get a bad one, just as me. The best thing to do is to return it and request a new device then. Yet, you depend on your retailer ,but Amazon proved to be quite customer friendly in this regard.
As for generell build quality: Apart from the issues I mentioned above I like both devices. The back cover of the HD7 is a bit fragile, but it's not supposed to be removed very often, as there shouldn't be that many occasions when you have to switch your sim or battery. Everything else looks great and is solidly built. btw: here is the image I sent to my retailer requesting a new device because of this: http://img232.imageshack.us/i/img1118gn.jpg/

Hi xda well I'm looking at the sensation bout to jump over to it but I want the Samsung galaxy s2 but I was wondering I'm only a month away from my upgrade I've been with T-Mobile for 1 year and I have made every payment before its due. Any idea thanks.!
Sent from my HTC Gingerbread Glacier using XDA App
I was under the impression that you had to be with tmobile for 2 years for an upgrade
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Yeah you don't get an upgrade until your 22 mo mark. I believe at 13 months you get a partial upgrade, where it's like 30% off of full retail value. You could always threaten to cancel, retention might offer you an early upgrade or a good deal on a phone. You won't be able to get the Sensation through tmo until the 15th though.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Wth really.??? Well that sucks I wanted to upgrade to something newer dual core. Oh well I guess I'm going to have threaten them haha lol. Unless I buy it on craigslist but oh well. Well 30 percent I might take as well. Thanks for your answers.
Sent from my HTC Gingerbread Glacier using XDA App
It sucks but really you knew what you were doing singing the contract and getting the discount on your current phone. Why try to screw them over you always know the second you buy a phone is out done a month later deal with it.

Well I bought the vibrant but then I had the g2, nexus one, back to g2 then somebody traded me there brand new glacier for my used g2. Well I guess I'm going to have to pt out of my pocket in that case ill wait till the sgs2 comes out. Seems to be befier.
Sent from my HTC Gingerbread Glacier using XDA App
Well I wasn't due for an upgrade until last month, but they gave me an exception and thus a full upgrade when I bought the MT4G back in Nov. So if you call it's possible to get one.
Good luck on the early upgrade it could happen, as for my upgrade it's in august and i'm thinking if the mt4g slide don't have more then 1gb rom i will probaly just wait it out till either the hercules or Nexus 3 come out. I'm not hurting that bad anymore anyways, since i'm coming from a g1 upgrade, i got a sick deal for this current mt4g phone on craigslist that didnt require a 2 yr contract woot.
Yea might as well wait a lot of good phones are coming out. Mytouch slide I might not Get. Yea if no 1gig I'm buying something else. Ever since I got the mytouch 4g I've been running stock gingerbread I tried cm7 but I'm in love with faux aosp rom. Well till then lets see what happens. Thanks again guys for the response.

Yes, not free or discount but the lets lock you back into a 2 year run for this.
So my aunt offered me a mytouch 4g for a vibrant. Should I do it? And if not what phone should I try to trade for. I love my vibrant but I kinda want a new phone. I switch phones like once every 3 months
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Screw that phone. I wouldn't do it.
If she's willing to propose that trade, that proves she doesn't love you. Lol
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Mt4g=180 on craigslist
Vibrant=150(that's being generous)
So if you really switch every three months, the mt4g is worth more to you. Also they're not as bad as people make them out to be.

I had a myTouch 4G before and its a great phone
myTouch 4G has more development plus you have the CHOICE of running Sense which is a really good UI on a well built ROM. That being said, you should read a bit about the good screen / bad screen issue on the myTouch as well as the good EMMC chip / bad chip as well to make sure you get a good model.
What i see Vibrant over it is the super AMOLED, better GPU, and ICS Passion ROM, and myTouch has 4G, camera flash, FFC, and better build quality.
Both phones are good, just determining what trade offs are best for you. good luck

IMHO, if you are going to trade, make sure you are getting something that really will be different. Does it have features you want, what are the differences? Is it an upgrade, or is it just a different phone?
For me I have waited a LONG time since the vibrant came out before I really found a phone worth upgrading to. I want the HTC amaze 4g. Many more features, dual core, ffc, better camera, dedicated camera/video buttons, NFC.. the list goes on. For me it is a phone that will take better advantage of ICS, and should get an official ICS update. The downside is that there isn't a whole lot of development.. yet. But it is a new phone, so that will come in time(and I even hope to make some development offerings once I get one)
So what are you looking for in a new phone, because unless the mytouch 4g has some feature you want that the vibrant doesn't have, you are trading a very solid phone for.. just another phone.
I got my replacement Epic after true bricking the other. After two years with this phone my first true brick. Even Sprint couldn't Odin it.
Anyways, maybe its my imagination, but the modem and wi-fi seem stronger, and it seems quicker? Is it possible the rev'd the hardware in this? Probably not, but don't ruin it for me.

I am probably completely wrong about this but I feel like phones start to slow down over time. I had an Evo 4G that I constantly flashed new ROMs onto and over time it started to get really sluggish. I went back to my go to smooth and stable ROMs and even those did the Evo no justice. I have a friend that says it's exactly the same with his HTC Inspire.
This is exactly how I felt about my Samsung epic 4g. It felt as if the hardware wore out, (particularly the hard drive) due to dozens, maybe hundreds of flashes.
