[Q] Warranty / Repair - Omnia 7 General

Hi
Does anyone know if I have an Samsung phone that have a defect, if I have to send it back where I bought it or if I just can contact Samsung and then bring it to the nearest Samsung Service center?
I bought the phone from the internet, and they have their store far away in another city. I have checked for Samsung service centers/partners close to where I live on Samsungs webpage, and found 1 actually in my city. So I would prefer to bring it to this center here in my city rather to send it far away.
Will that be possible? or will Samsung say that I HAVE to send it back to where I bought it? FYI I bought it in Germany, but I also live in Germany.

When I rang Samsung regarding the faulty bootloader they asked me for my post code and then advised me of the closest service centre to where I live.
They just said take proof of purchase with you to the service centre so you should be fine i would have thought.

I wish there were a walk in service for Toronto too
FutureTel will not accept walk-ins, they only deal with Lawyers... i mean... Dealers
Can we 100% confirm that Samsung Canada office here at Toronto isn't a service centre and does not take customers? or maybe they just don't do cellphones?
Also, my question is....
If I have a 2nd hand Samsung Galaxy S without proof of purchase under my name or receipt. Yet have service with Bell Mobility, will the Samsung Canada @ Montreal repair centre accept the phone for warranty service?
What do you think?

Appears to be the case, unfortunately. (See http://futuretel.ca/where.html)
If mine died (fingers crossed it doesn't, but it's survived multiple flashes so I have reasonable hope), I'd drive out there anyway and scream and yell to get it fixed. Then again, I like to take the brute force way to get stuff done.
I left my old phone today morning at 10:30 and picked up a new one at 14:30.
They gave me a completely new phone with Froyo already installed.
No questions asked, very fast service.

This is going to make my holidays!!! I have a SGS with dead sd card and it's second hand. I have the receipt but it's a renewal invoice under the name of someone else and didn't want to go to bell as I'm a client and have already send another SGS for repair under my name. I need to have this one repaired (replaced) so I can sell it.
I am very PEEVED to say the least. I purchased the samsung galaxy when it first came out (end of August 2010) had the phone for less than 2 months then it was toast! It burnt my hand...screen went dead with a bunch of pixels on screen and burnt the screen. Now Samsung Absolut outfit in Montreal kept it for 2 months plus trying to figure out what was wrong, after me bugging my carrier almost everyday to find out where my phone is Absolut decided they could not diagnose the problem or what happened to the phone....supposedly they sent it to Samsung stating they could not fix, Samsung said they would replace the phone and still NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!! Tried looking for their phone number but Bell Aliant says they never pick the phone up....what is up with that??? Great customer service!!!!!!NOT~!!!!
Sorry it is a Samsung Galaxy Vibrant phone..

I forgot to ask one important thing...
How did Samsung service your phone?
Did they do a software fix?
or
Did they had to replace a hardware ?
They took my old phone and gave me a brand new one. Free of charge, nothing to pay.
woha wait there, I've sent my phone to Futuretel over a month ago and there is a place in Montreal that will do that on the spot !??? WHAT ? damn it...
anyone else tried them ?
Thank you Happy Hunter for the service center info
My situation was, 3 days after upgrading to Froyo, I got a few FC and after rebooting my SGS, it was stuck after the S logo. Tried to downgrade firmware, clear cache, formatted memory, nothing worked, and the phone wouldn't start up after all that.
So i went to the service center tonight, since it was late there was no technician, so I'll have to wait the next day to know how long it'll take to repair.
I had no proof of sale, since I bought my SGS off someone. The receptionist asked me which provider I was, I said Rogers, and asked if it was unlocked, I said yes and I bought the unlock code off Bell. And asked what happened to the phone.
That's all, the receptionist looked nice, they are aware of that problem.
I'll call tomorrow to see the status of my phone and let you guys know.
Btw, I noticed that on my receipt, it said day of purchase 1/30/10, so i assume that's the date the give to people without invoice, so for those that are like my, with no invoice, pray that your phone breaks before that date

Awesome,
Please do let us know how your process of them taking your phone in work out.
Because like many others, I also bought my phone as 2nd hand and do not have receipt and I also am using with Rogers.
So I am interested in knowing how Samsung will treat you.
Please keep us updated.

hey guys, just a lil update on my case (see post #12)
I just called the service center, they told me they have to order a part to be replaced in my SGS and that it'll take a couple of days. So I guess I'll have my mainboard replaced. Therefore no new cell phone for me

New phone doesn't always mean good, right/? maybe replacement board is a new revision or something. You never know.
Anyways, so you are saying that Montreal location will accept Galaxy S even if you do not have a receipt ?
Do they care if the phone is unlocked? or which carrier you are with ?
Were you told that the entire service will be free or charge too?
Let us know when you get your phone back.
Now if only there was one of these in Vancouver.

Htc warranty...any dealings

Hi has anyone had recent dealings with htc in relation to repairs?
what happens, they pick up inspect it,then see if its covered by there warranty if not,you have to pay x amount till you get back or they just send it back as it was etc
any dealings experiences much appreciated
My phones slowly repairing itself...weird still good to know about warrantys though
Sent from the underground bunkers in london
I had to send mine back recently as the proximity sensor stopped working. They were very cool about the whole procedure. The only issue I had was their "tracking" website was bobbins.
It arrived in my hands (and had a custom ROM back on it) before the site even said it had been dispatched...
Hi i was dealing with out of warnaty DHD hitted near the camera.I first went to the official HTC service in my region and they told me that they can't help me cuz my phone is bought from UK and i have to contact htc for help.I conact with them and they told me that i can try contact with vodafone or go back to the local service and try to reach common point with them.So i went back to the local service and explane them about the conversation with htc.And they agree to try to deal with it however they were wanting too big price for the rapeir. And mean while i got mail from vodafone in wich they told me that they take phone for service only if you are a costumer of them. And so i stuck with DHD without camera, speaker, headphone speaker.

USA Warranty

If I buy the international GT-P6800, will Samsung USA cover the warranty?
Just bought this:
http://www.integrontech.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-7-7-P6800-3G-Unlocked-Silver-p/sam-p6800-16gb-s.htm
It's on it's way here... but with all the screen issues everyone seems to be having, I def don't want this thing with no warranty.
I didn't even think about that when I bought it... now i'm considering just returning it before opening it up... don't want to get screwed down the road without a warranty.
I had a bad experience with this.. long story short they didnt...
Sent from another Galaxy...
Tab 7.7 GT-P6800
The more I read, the more it seems they won't honor their warranty in the US.
I could always Squaretrade it... but I wary of the support I would actually receive.
I contacted USA Samsung about warranty. I didn't really get the answer I wanted but they did do a little better than no warranty at all.
Could probably just use a forwarding service. I wonder if I prepaid envelope sent to their UK facilities would work?
Samsung's response:
Dear Casey,
Thank you for contacting Samsung.
Unfortunately, as the product was purchased in the uk, the warranty is only valid at uk service centres.
However, if you had a friend within the UK, who could deliver and collect your product, then deliver it back to you, we would be happy to fix or service the product where necessary.
Hope this helps.
If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help.
Kind regards,
Chris

Anywhere that sells yotaphone2 spare parts?

Hi, I have a yotaphone 2 with cracked back display. I contacted yotaphone and been informed that i should ship the device to one of their authorised service centers which is impossible, living in Turkey. I just need somewhere online to buy spare part for this phone.
Thanks.
My yota2 epd display started fading and over a period of 2 weeks slowly died. Even a factory reset didn't revive it. I asked yotadevices about it and they said the same thing, ship it to an authorized service center. I'm in the US (california) and the nearest service center was London, UK! Anyways, after some back and forth with the service center, I shipped my phone out to them, had it back in 2 weeks. They replaced the epd, no charge warranty repair and they even shipped it back out to me. My cost was just the shipping to them.
Sounds like your problem wouldn't be a warrenty repair, but the service center would be able to take care of it at cost.

(UK) Display Issues... returning under warranty?

Hi, had this phone since it first came out. Today I started to get pink & green streaks on my screen as well as a lot of overheating.
I want to send it back under warranty, but I know they ask for invoice or sales slip confirmation on the warranty card... I don't have either of those, but given that I bought this directly from Samsung, will I be ok?
Also, is it better to get it sent back to Samsung or to take it into a service centre?
Never had to get a phone fixed before so I'm gutted! ?
Many thanks for any help!
I recently returned my phone to Samsung UK. I also bought my S7 direct from Samsung. I didn't need any proof of purchase when returning the phone.
They paid for a pick up of the phone and it was back again 5 days later.
The standard and service of the centres varies. I would send it back.

Thanks for the reply bus_ter! I'll probably just send it back then.
Could you tell me how you contacted them in order to start the return process?
Many thanks!
Actually the online chat/support feature on the website. There was a 40 minute wait to be connected!
