[Q] Help about root and Flash !! - Atrix 4G General

Hi.
First of all I want to thank you for the things you publish, it seem you really know a lot.
My name is Diego and I'm a beginner.
I went to NYC 2 weeks ago and I bought an Atrix unlocked from AT&T.
I came back to my country and I found I couldn't setting up my 3G APN, neither install downloaded apk files.
My phone already has the 1.8.3 version, but it isn't rooted.
I've been reading in the forum how to flash to a SBF 1.26, and root, but my question is "" IF I do this my phone will be lock by AT&T again or remains unlocked ?? ""
I apreciate any answer that you can give me.
Sorry by my poor English.
Thanks for everything
Best Regards

Just gingerbreak. There is a guide in the dev forum
O and welcome

Gingerbreak is your easiest bet but you can flash back as well and root with GladRoot. Either way I think you would be fine.

Help needed

Hi there guys/girls,
I have just joined the SGS2 crew after moving from my Atrix and need help rooting my phone.
My phone is a UK 3 Samsung Galaxy S2 (it has the annoying 3 bootlogo and 3 apps in the phone).
Having had a look on the forums i'm confused in regards to what steps to take.
Can anyone tell me what is the easiest way to root?
Do I have to follow specific steps as my phone is a network branded handset?
About my phone:
Android Version - 2.3.3
Baseband - I9100NEKD5
Kernel Version -
2.6.35.7-I9100XWKE1-CL181974
[email protected]#2
Build number - GINGERBREAD.XWKE1
The first person that can give me a noobs guide which results in my phone being successfuly rooted will get a drink from me.
Thanks in advance,
Ron

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply but i'm confused in regards to which files I need to use specifically for my phone.
Also how can I flash the default unlocked SGS2 rom (the one without the crappy network branding)?
Please explain in noobs terms as I am not familiar with odin whatsoever.
Thanks again
Ron
I have FINALLY managed to flash the stock samsung unlocked rom and root my phone!
WOW what a long ass procedure.... I had become to used to using tools like gingerbreak which had made me rusty in terms of modding but got there in the end.
You thought it was a long procedure? Took me like 30 seconds after installing Odin. Glad you finally got it rooted though.

It's one of those things that becomes routine once you've done it a few times. I even remember following a guide to flash a ROM via a custom recovery and thinking this it pretty complicated, now it all seems so simple

What version of the xplay do you have? if you have a SIM free play, you can just unlock the bootloader, and flash a rooted image or flash a rooted update.zip from recovery..... anyway read the stickies in the android development section, all the answers you seek are there

ive been reading quite a bit , just want to be sure of what im doing
i dont understand about unlocking the bootloader , so would just like to root is that possible with the way im thinking of doing

Yes as long as your bootloader is still locked you can use SEUS to take to you back to stock.

I have Atrix ver 1.7.5, how can i root it and update it to latest build?

Hello Everyone,
I have a motorola atrix which was given to me by my friend in usa as a gift, And it has a software version of 1.7.5 , I want to update my phone, but i cannot find the guide for rooting this version of firmware and updating it. Is this version unique? wherever i search i only get guides for other versions.
And one more thing, I live in nepal, and i am using my sim card, but if i update the phone will it be carrier locked?
Thanks in advance.
Screenshot
Oh, and one more thing, i have taken a picture of the phone screen, I've attached it.
Sorry for the crappy photo.
First off, this should go in the Q&A section. Second there is a Sticky Thread at the top of this section geared toward NOOBs...you should go back and read it, it has all the info you need.
Sorry for posting here. And regarding that N00b guide, i read it all, and from what i know i think the method for rooting different versions of firmware are different right? and there is no mention for the version that i am using. So i just wanted a little guidance.

This method works on all phones:
http://briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-4g-root
p.s. Your screenshot says you have 2.2.2 ATT Atrix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Meaning you can use pretty much any root method - Gingerbreak, Gladroot, preinstall, and CWM root after you unlock the phone.
The auto unlock/root method works wonderfully on our US devices

SEARCH. READ.
This thread has been made many many times. Check the threads, the wiki, etc.. There are ways to downgrade and achieve root now.
You can do it, but you have to use frevo and abd.

follow this guide to downgrade the g2/DZ to stock Froyo:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
Then you can permroot your device by following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
dude if u havent done it yet..way simpler way to do this http://techticians.com/index.php/mobile-tech/14-mobile-phones/27-rooting-the-t-mobile-g2
wow thats a good deal for the defy....
@martonikaj maybe you can help a dude out--i am not able to push the files to the device at all i keep getting permission denied in the command prompt and also if i do the downgrade(get it to work that means the radio has been downgraded as well)can i get that back because it really improved my signal in some areas where i had only 2g service i now get 4g--i read the wiki backwards and forwards although i broke my stock usb cable maybe this is the problem im using one that i picked up from the tmo store just the general one--i got adb and sdk all that jazz got a pretty good understanding for a noob so im kind of stuck...

Please help me get the girl.

Okay, long story short, I've been having a nightmare with my phone. So I did this, and then installed gingerbread, and the excellent CM7.2 mod.
BUT, because of the AT&T froyo backup file I installed using Roadkil disk image, my phone is now locked to AT&T.
If I can't unlock the phone, or find a different (unlocked) froyo backup file, I can't get in touch with this awesome girl I've got a date with tomorrow.
Please help me get my phone working again, so that I can go on this date!

Try installing official GB(if you have the u8800pro) and then any custom ROM you want(looks like you have the pro and used the -51 method). And for Christ's sake please post questions to Q&A forum -.-'
@diestarbucks request to move these 2 threads to Q&A
I answered to you on your other thread.
Only a user of -51 can help you.
But as i read, you have AT&T and i really don't know how to fix your problem.

You can unlock the phone with the u8800-51 upgrade to gb tutorial.

So, the phone is fixed (kinda). I used the official gingerbread and that unlocked it. It's still got an AT&T logo when it boots, and it's definitely a U8800 pro. But, it works fine with cm7.2, so it's all good.
And the date went extremely well, so thanks for that.
The thread title brings me to here
cool,post some pics
