What is wrong with my screen - HD2 General

Today is suddenly noticed this problem with my screen.
It reacts normal to touch.
Was it high pressure or fluids?

Hi,
There is nothing to worry about.
This is a known glitch.
Best thing to do ,is reboot your phone and it will clear.

its difficult to tell from the pics but i have very similar marks only much smaller, mine wont go away, i believe its a defect in the TFT panel and the backlight is getting through too much, if its the same issue as mine on a dark screen its harder to tell, but white shows up a lot. that kinda of supports my thoughts on it as a darker screen forces the pixcels to "block" more light coming through from the back light,

I thought it was like a negative appearance, where everything goes like a negative picture.
You're right ,it does look a bit vague on second looks.
If it clears after a reboot, then it was what I thought.
If it doesn't clear, then I'm not sure what it is.

A reboot doesn't effect the screen, to bad. Is my tft leak or something like that?
If i putt pressure on the screen i can move the white spot in the middle a little.
Thanx for the reactions.

i think its the same as mine, when you rub the screen on mine it can look like its moving but its not, its like when you push your finger on your arm it goes white then goes back to being normal, or in this case mine goes back to being wrong
im hunting for a bricked HD2 to replace the whole panel, unless your under warrenty i suspect you'll need to do the same
ive attached a pic to show you mine, its really hard to tell but see if it looks like yours the white spotes are down the bottom

Some kind lcd bleeding mate
If your phone still.have warranty, send it back
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App

Your's looks like back lite bleeding.
I think mine is damp insite.
it's geting less.

G1 Screen burned in image....

I did not think you could burn a image in to the screen on these phones but I just found a dark burned in spot on the bottom left of my screen....
Not sure what to do about it makes me sad :-(
Just thought I would warn people that it seems you can burn images in to the screen.... I was using a hero theme on my phone that has the launher bar the graphic for that burned in to the bottom left of my screen.
:-(
Wow, I thought image burn-in only effected CRTs. I'm sorry for your loss :-( What are you going to do? If it's in warranty you could probably send it to HTC.

Yeah I am going to check the warranty and see if I can send it in for a replacement or a new screen or something.
But yeah I thought it only effected CRTs to and not LCD screens so I am not sure why it has the spot. it is weird it is a faded dark spot like that part of the screen is failing but if you look hard you can see the circle with the arrow in it like the graphic the theme I had on used nothing seems to make it go away.
Actually.. I believe all our phones does this? For example, open up browser and Google, then hit home. Go outside under very very bright sunlight, and you can still see the burned in image of the browser.
Updated I took the battery out of my phone and let it set for about 10 minutes then put it back in the image has gone away but there is still a faint dark spot in that corner. this image stayed on the screen even after doing two wipes and installing two new roms on the phone. the image only went away after leaving the battery out for 10 minutes.

Yeah I know but I was flashing a new rom anyway figured it would not hurt anything
LCD don't get burn in like a CRT but it does do SOMETHING less permanent that has a similar affect as burn in. I forget what it's actually called though.

It must be some other kind of damage, as it is not possible to "burn in" a lcd. There are no elements in a LCD that can be irreversibly biased toward one color due to normal usage.

This isn't burn-in, its just a characteristic of the LCD module used in the Dream.
it is possible on lcds to get burnin, its just not burn in, its called image persistence, it just needs the image to be on the screen alot longer than on a plasma or crt for it to occur

Try using a flashlight program that sets the screen to white this should reset the colors.

i have noticed this too but i agree with RaiderX303 that its not actual burn-in but the screen's characteristics while in operation. if you let the phone sit for a short while and then go outside and look at it again, you wont see any marks or ghost images....
hoestly, its a cheap LCD screen and its to be expected...
As for the original poster... have you left the phone in direct sunlight? maybe on a window or in your car? The sun has tendencies to mark or "blot" the screens cause they heat up and leak, looks like an ink blot.... as me how i know this... LOL, either way, try changing the phone cause i dont think i would be able to live with a marked screen either
goodluck,

thats what Pioneer does to their Kuro's and it's one hell of an idea if you havent tried it yet. But to the other posters yes LCD's arent perfect either and while it isnt called burn in, its pretty much the same thing to a lesser extent.
Dark spots on an LCD can also be "pressure points", ie, the LCD has been subjected to excessive pressure at that spot at some point, and basically it gets, in laymen terms, a "bruise"... not fully broken, but damaged. Usually happens if some the phone freezes and some yahoo that borrowed your phone decides pressing harder will make things work again.... or it pressed up against that marble in your pocket a bit too hard, etc.

I can see the touch detection surface

On the HTC/Google manufacturing vid for the nexus one display it shows how the screen is comprised of the LCD, the touch detection surface, and the glass. Well... I've just noticed that I can see the touch layer thing, or at least, it looks like the one showed in the video.
If you are under florescent light and look directly at the phone at eye level, tilt it slightly upwards, about 5 degrees or so, and you (well I) can see white dots all over the screen, the dots seem to be visible where the grid/crosshatch lines intersect.
Just thought it was strange, you can see it with the phone on or off
that`s normal, everybody can see it.
yup, just noticed it today ^^; (I've had the phone for 2 weeks)
I noticed it a while ago but I think this is normal.
Seems normal. At first I thought the glittering dots were dust, then realized they were aligned in a perfect grid.
I thought it was pretty cool when I saw it.
I'm glad that the visibility is less than that of the HD2, when I had the HD2 I ALWAYS noticed it.

Lol,make laughed.
You can see the crosshatch too if you move the phone around in bright light while the screen is off.
I thought that was damn cool.

Turn off the screen of the phone.
Now try looking at the screen (there must be a decent light) moving it a little bit in diagonal, if you look very close you will see the grid of the touchscreen.
I've never noticed it until today
It scared me when I opened my n1..but I quite like the diagonal lines. The nexus also has a beautiful purple hue to it.

evo screen issue, anyone else?

i noticed today that my evo's screen has some sort of light warping near the bottom left corner. i don't have a picture to show, but i'd like to know if anyone else notice something like this. it's most noticeable when the whole screen is white (like a webpage) and then hold the screen in front of you with the top tilted slightly toward you like 20 degrees. i get a little diagonal light warping near the bottom left corner, pretty noticable.
i'm not flipping out too hard because it's not noticable except from this angle. looking at it directly straight on looks perfectly normal. but i want my evo to be perfect!
That is normal the EVO is equipped with a backlight so when you tilt it it will show
its not a hardware issue its normal dont worry..also were did u get ur evo???????
also im the first teen to play with EVO...LOL
i took some pictures, see the diagonal line near the bottom left. that really doesn't strike me as normal!

That's just imperfections with the backlighting for the screen, it happens.
I can see the lights at a angle but I have to turn it completly flat to see the lights. Yours looks like its lighting your screen. My evo does not do that.
damn

I would definitely take that back to the store I got it from if mine did that. Since it's a gift, you might be SOL, unless you go through HTC? Not familiar with warranty stuff like that...
I'd be pissed if that happened to me again. It happened with my Touch Pro and as much as I tried, I couldn't get a replacement or repair. No one would even acknowledge that anything was wrong.
On a very related note, I think it sucks that there is backlight leakage at the bottom of the phone casing. I hope this varies from unit to unit.

My Evo does have this as well.
All EVOs have that light bleed on the bottom. Almost every review has commented on it. They've also said it really isn't a deal killer.
Guess some folks are pickier than others.

It just happens, design flaws. I'm tempted to wait and get a later revision EVO.
I did read about the light bleed before buying. I do not mind the light bleed. Its not that bad on my Evo. I am very happy with overall build. Cant find anything wrong with the manufacturing process on my phone.

Take it back. That is definitely not normal.
mine have that as well
the LED leak from the buttons is normal, the bent TFT LCD screen is not. The display should not look like that.
They probably gave out blems at the Google I/O. just kidding.
Funny enuf mine doesn't have the button light bleed at the bottom. I guess I should be happy about that

My EVO does not have any light leakage whatsoever.
I guess you could chalk it up to the Google I/O batch being the first batch of Evos ever produced. After all, aren't they Developer models? I'd imagine the final version meant for consumers would be free of problems such as the light leakage.

[Q] [HELP] Screen burn-in problems

Guys, I have a terrible issue with my LG G2's screen. Apparently, it looks like it's gotten some annoying burn-ins, which look like white lines running across the screen. They aren't much of a problem for me, but they have got very annoying in recent time. And, it seems like they are becoming more prominent with time. Here are some pics in order to get a feel of what I'm talking about. Can it be fixed with a display tester app? Please help! This burn-ins are driving me nuts! Didn't pay so much for a flagship handset with screen issues. :crying:
By the way, these burn-ins are most evident on grey backgrounds, as shown in the screenshots with a plain grey wallpaper.

This is very strange.
I was under the impression that LCD screens could not get burn-in.
Maybe what you are experiencing is not burn in.
One of the reasons why i came to this phone because i have had the galaxy s2 with LED display and i got status bar burn in as i have noticed happens to many people with led displays. AMOLED included.
Dont quote me on this but Im pretty sure it must be the reflective foil getting too close or tearing on the back of the LCD at a pressure point. Did your phone LCD take in impacts/heavy pressure or anyoone sit on it?

No, not at all. I take great care of my device. Not once has it fallen, nor be treated with pressure on the screen. Once, my mother happened to sit on my brother's G2, however, but he didn't experience any issues whatsoever. At least no similar burn-ins as on my device.
Weird, get warranty replacement then, still sure its probably the reflective layer, but hard to say what else could cause it to warp, since you say it hasnt suffered any abnormal usage.
I have this problem as well, especially in Hangouts since it's grey in color. Not really a big deal though, as it goes away a few seconds later. Now if it sticks, then that's a problem.

Those weird lines seem to stick. But, I wouldn't want to mess with replacement units, warranty repair etc. If it gets too annoying to handle, my first approach would be the display tester app. Plus, these "burn-ins" are less prominent (almost invisible) in outdoor lighting and do not tend to appear as much (or at all) on different backgrounds than grey.

Misaligned screen

So I have the edge since the 11th now. And every time I have the feeling that the screen is centered to the right side, I notice it extra with a case. As the area between the bezel and the screen is larger on the left side.
This afternoon I looked with an magnifying glass and indeed saw that this was indeed the situation. It is about 0.1 mm or so but oh so annoying. Luckily I can exchange it, however there will be only phones I stock around the 30th. Keeping mine thill then.
Are there others with the same issue?
The attached version is not my phone, but just an example to explain.
To better understand what i mean I attached a picture. I have the black version but you could see it as the black line on the right side of the phone is thinner than on de left, so the screen is essentially to far to the right..
not the best picture for judging...
But I know what you are talking, I have seen a few devices now and all of them were different in terms of screen quality and alignment!
for me, the worst problem is the uneven contrast (darker sides) on most of the screens. i own 3 devices now and all of them have display flaws. two suffer from a yellow tint when tilting, the other screen has a slightly darker left side... :|

I know. When my S6 comes back from warranty repairs I will try to make a picture. The S5 I have laying around can't focus clearly enough.
Well I hope I won't have a replacement with tint issues or such. Because my screen is, aside of the alignment, pretty perfect. Maybe I'm a bit nitpicky but I think that's justified with these kind of price tags.
I still have till the 30th to get used to it or exchange it. An order for a replacement has been made.
People complain about issues of screen color when tilting the device.. When are u ever tilting the device? U should be looking at it dead on anyways.
Honestly I don't see anything from ur picture, maybe ur just crazy.. If it is a little little misaligned who cares.. It's the curve part anyways..

The picture I used is just to explain what i mean with the black lines on my phone. Imagine that picture with no black line on the right of the phone, so the screen blends in with the white. And a bigger black line on the left.
That's what i have, but my phone is black so i cant put it on a picture to explain it.
I can really only tell in a dark room, but there is ever-so-slight light leakage where the glass meets the metal on the bottom of my S7 Edge. I see the slight leakage on the bottom-left and bottom-right. Doesn't bother me much, maybe a little, but my experience with smartphones is you'll be lucky to find one with absolutely flawless everything including screen alignment. It's often not worth exchanging for a new one, which may have other issues. Plus there's the whole issue of setting the phone up from scratch again. My device seems to be working fine (this is my 5th day with it) so far, so I won't be exchanging it.
After reading this thread I checked mine and its is misaligned like you described. I then went to Samsung and they checked and said that its normal. Now that I see it, its driving me crazy.

Same
Same **** with me. My screen is also misaligned and its driving me nuts with this phone price i dont know what to do about it. I have s7 edge btw same **** all over with the s6edge. I really didnt notice it when using the phone. I noticed it when im checking out the phone looking how pretty it is then when i turned on the screen i noticed that the left side of my screen has a thinner black bezel and when i look on the right it has a little bitty gap.
