I can see the touch detection surface - Nexus One General

On the HTC/Google manufacturing vid for the nexus one display it shows how the screen is comprised of the LCD, the touch detection surface, and the glass. Well... I've just noticed that I can see the touch layer thing, or at least, it looks like the one showed in the video.
If you are under florescent light and look directly at the phone at eye level, tilt it slightly upwards, about 5 degrees or so, and you (well I) can see white dots all over the screen, the dots seem to be visible where the grid/crosshatch lines intersect.
Just thought it was strange, you can see it with the phone on or off

that`s normal, everybody can see it.

yup, just noticed it today ^^; (I've had the phone for 2 weeks)

I noticed it a while ago but I think this is normal.

Seems normal. At first I thought the glittering dots were dust, then realized they were aligned in a perfect grid.

I thought it was pretty cool when I saw it.

I'm glad that the visibility is less than that of the HD2, when I had the HD2 I ALWAYS noticed it.

Lol,make laughed.

You can see the crosshatch too if you move the phone around in bright light while the screen is off.
I thought that was damn cool.

I'm sure my eyes must be rubbish now, I cannot see what you guys are talking about

Turn off the screen of the phone.
Now try looking at the screen (there must be a decent light) moving it a little bit in diagonal, if you look very close you will see the grid of the touchscreen.
I've never noticed it until today

It scared me when I opened my n1..but I quite like the diagonal lines. The nexus also has a beautiful purple hue to it.

X1 screen fading issue

Has anyone come across their X1 having a screen that is fading in the top right-hand corner? it looks as if it's been pressed really hard there on mine.
I've had so many X1s now and I'm really fed-up of it, Sony Ericsson, Windows Mobile (to add to all Windows OSs really) and my operator, O2, for being the World's biggest morons. The one I got today seemed perfect for once and actually put together properly and, apart from a tiny, hardly noticeable scratch on the back cover (for which I have another cover as a spare anyway) I was pretty happy with it. The screen is really bugging me though and this is the second or third one where the screen is quite a bit worse than others have been.
I'm unsure of what to do, there's no other phones that I have any interest in and I'm sick to the teeth of O2 and this fault riddled phone too. I've only just gotten used to the fact that the illumination lights don't work properly on any X1s!
I beleive you are referring to the white light bleeding thru in the corners? This is something simular to what happens on some monitors. I don't think it gets worse and it can only be noticed when a black background in showing in the corners when you look at a picture or play a movie.
I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. It is the most visible when you're turning it on during the "EXPERIA" screen, huh? I have that, too.

This is exactly it! Sorry, couldn't remember to call it bleeding lol.
I'm almost certain I'll return this X1...shame because it's the first without any other issues.
omfg i totally forgot abt this when i sent it to the svc ctr 2 days ago!
i only complained abt the buttons getting less responsive. lol. had this screen issue since day 2 but nvr been a big prob.
damn...
Called "light leakage" elsewhere
Personally its only noticeable at all with a completely black screen (like the Xperia load screen mentioned above) ...and completely invisible the rest of the time.
So I barely notice it and it doesn't bother me

I'm still on my first X1i by the way -4 months in and no probs at all
Guys,
If you have no build issues like cracks, I strongly suggest you keep it. AFter a week or two of use, you'll stop noticing the light bleeding less and less. I believe I read it somewhere that you have the NGOCD or something? New Gadget Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Cheers.

Definately...I just like a new device to be perfect as it should be.
I can still notice the bleeding a bit during normal use and it's really irritating. I don't get why it's just in the right-hand corner and worse on some X1s than it is on others.

evo screen issue, anyone else?

i noticed today that my evo's screen has some sort of light warping near the bottom left corner. i don't have a picture to show, but i'd like to know if anyone else notice something like this. it's most noticeable when the whole screen is white (like a webpage) and then hold the screen in front of you with the top tilted slightly toward you like 20 degrees. i get a little diagonal light warping near the bottom left corner, pretty noticable.
i'm not flipping out too hard because it's not noticable except from this angle. looking at it directly straight on looks perfectly normal. but i want my evo to be perfect!
That is normal the EVO is equipped with a backlight so when you tilt it it will show
its not a hardware issue its normal dont worry..also were did u get ur evo???????
also im the first teen to play with EVO...LOL
i took some pictures, see the diagonal line near the bottom left. that really doesn't strike me as normal!

That's just imperfections with the backlighting for the screen, it happens.
I can see the lights at a angle but I have to turn it completly flat to see the lights. Yours looks like its lighting your screen. My evo does not do that.
damn

I would definitely take that back to the store I got it from if mine did that. Since it's a gift, you might be SOL, unless you go through HTC? Not familiar with warranty stuff like that...
I'd be pissed if that happened to me again. It happened with my Touch Pro and as much as I tried, I couldn't get a replacement or repair. No one would even acknowledge that anything was wrong.
On a very related note, I think it sucks that there is backlight leakage at the bottom of the phone casing. I hope this varies from unit to unit.

My Evo does have this as well.
All EVOs have that light bleed on the bottom. Almost every review has commented on it. They've also said it really isn't a deal killer.
Guess some folks are pickier than others.

It just happens, design flaws. I'm tempted to wait and get a later revision EVO.
I did read about the light bleed before buying. I do not mind the light bleed. Its not that bad on my Evo. I am very happy with overall build. Cant find anything wrong with the manufacturing process on my phone.

Take it back. That is definitely not normal.
mine have that as well
the LED leak from the buttons is normal, the bent TFT LCD screen is not. The display should not look like that.
They probably gave out blems at the Google I/O. just kidding.
Funny enuf mine doesn't have the button light bleed at the bottom. I guess I should be happy about that

My EVO does not have any light leakage whatsoever.
I guess you could chalk it up to the Google I/O batch being the first batch of Evos ever produced. After all, aren't they Developer models? I'd imagine the final version meant for consumers would be free of problems such as the light leakage.

What is wrong with my screen

Today is suddenly noticed this problem with my screen.
It reacts normal to touch.
Was it high pressure or fluids?
Hi,
There is nothing to worry about.
This is a known glitch.
Best thing to do ,is reboot your phone and it will clear.
its difficult to tell from the pics but i have very similar marks only much smaller, mine wont go away, i believe its a defect in the TFT panel and the backlight is getting through too much, if its the same issue as mine on a dark screen its harder to tell, but white shows up a lot. that kinda of supports my thoughts on it as a darker screen forces the pixcels to "block" more light coming through from the back light,
I thought it was like a negative appearance, where everything goes like a negative picture.
You're right ,it does look a bit vague on second looks.
If it clears after a reboot, then it was what I thought.
If it doesn't clear, then I'm not sure what it is.
A reboot doesn't effect the screen, to bad. Is my tft leak or something like that?
If i putt pressure on the screen i can move the white spot in the middle a little.
Thanx for the reactions.

i think its the same as mine, when you rub the screen on mine it can look like its moving but its not, its like when you push your finger on your arm it goes white then goes back to being normal, or in this case mine goes back to being wrong
im hunting for a bricked HD2 to replace the whole panel, unless your under warrenty i suspect you'll need to do the same
ive attached a pic to show you mine, its really hard to tell but see if it looks like yours the white spotes are down the bottom
Some kind lcd bleeding mate
If your phone still.have warranty, send it back

[Q] Is it only my Acer Iconia A500?

Hey guys, I just got my Iconia a couple days ago, and out of the box I noticed, but i was not sure if it was a problem. When the screen is turned off, can you guys see like braids/patterns on the screen? It is like two triangles with their tips put together and placed into columns.
that is the digitizer or w/e. Makes the touch screen work. Nothing to worry about.

Oh ok, thanks, bc I have a BB PB as well, and it did not have it. And I have owned a TF, iPad 2, and TP and it did not have any of this design on the screen, so I was just wondering... It is not much of a bother, minus watching a movie in daylight, but nothing serious.
its actually visible in all devices in the right light and at the right angle

Oh ok, because this is the first time I have seen it, and it is really easy to spot, just put it at a slight angle i the sunlight and it is easily seen. Is this the same with you guy's Iconia?
yes, visible on any touchscreen device. it's the digitizer. sometimes there are dots, sometimes there are triangles or whatever. depends in the digitizer.

My screen self healed

Hey guys,
Well, about two weeks ago, I had my phone in my shorts pocket and was changing back into uniform. I stepped on the phone and hoped everything would be alright, but I didn't check. Later, I called my friend to notice, around 4 cracks from where I stood on it. Surrounding the 4 cracks, was a large blob of dead pixels and just a rectangle of empty black space. Now, I was scared, I had no idea what I should do, sure wasn't taking it to HTC considering their fees, and 3rd party repair was around £20. I just thought I'd wait.
Wait I did, after a few days, the black rectangle was gone and it was normal screen again. Gradually, I noticed the green blob getting smaller, until yesterday when it was completely gone. Now I just have 4 slim tiny cracks in the screen that aren't amazingly noticeable and all's good.
However, I'm surprised by all this, should this even be possible?
Thanks
WHOA..! looks like you have some sorta super screen...
