I recommend use some ROM with CWM recovery...and then always backup and restore using cwm recovery only...
so u wont loose data...
if u flash any ROM using Odin, then most probably u will loose the data...
I have used Titanium Backup Pro from the market. The contacts and calendar are already on the cloud, and with Titanium I have backed up all my apps. After flashing to a different ROM I could restore all my apps with data to the new ROM. I suggest you to buy Pro version for a small fee, as it can backup you applications in batch, otherwise its tedious to select them one-by-one.

Hello There,
Being new to the site I often read, follow and apply and keep quiet but i really need help on this situation please. Iv seen that Omega has released a few new roms in short succession and im due for a rom upgrade (on omega v5 still). Anyways i was just wondering i see that Omega Pro is avaliable on play store and was wonder what is the quickest way to keep up to these rom updates without loosing my data all the time?
My typical process of getting updates is to:
1. Downlaod Rom
2. Clear Cache and Data
3. Install Rom
4. Install Titanium
5. Restore From Titanium All My Apps.
But i was wondering is there methods to shortcut the restoring if im staying on the same rom? I know people say you can just flash and not clean cache and data but i want to confirm this before as to how nightlies are delivered in the cynogen architecture OTA?
Regrads in advance, i have tried searching (maybe didnt use the correct terminologies) and thought id ask a question to get a specific answer i need .

I also have the same doubt and registered with xda just to ask this..
Let me elaborate..
I am using currently Omega rom v7..
now the v8 is launched..
Do i have to download whole of it again? (around 1.5 GB)
I haven't had any problem with just flashing the new rom on top without clearing data or cache (I think the rom clears the cache for you)
And yes to update you need to download the entire rom again, though if you look at the change log, the changes aren't that much.
However I do want to know the change log for each Samsung update

Hey,
When I mean samsung apps, more specifically I mean S Health since I have a lot of data saved in it. The problem is that when I switch from one TW rom to another TW rom, I can't seem to restore S Health data (I'm using Titanium Backup).
I've tried restoring data after doing a fresh install of S Health, as well as just trying to restore S Health without a previous install of it. Really, I want it to restore like all my other apps, but its seen as a system app and I wonder if that's the problem.
Hope I was clear, does anyone have an idea?
Thanks.
can you try another backup app like kousch's carbon
or, my backup pro--it lets you select just the apps you want--not sure if it does system apps though
If s health is a system app, in batch restore of tibu, run restore all system data, Deselect all and then just check s-health data so you restore only that.

I usually don't restore System data from TB, esp btwn roms, so don't think much about that being an option.
Have a Nandroid as always--
Backups TB or Go back up will not work if you are using 4.3 rom. Since 4.3 leaked and is still not supported if this is the case all you can do is flash 4.2.2 or 4.1.2 these still work. Am having same issue with CM 10.2 have a lot of saved game data had to start over the price of update software. Lol

I'm running cm 10.2 and I can restore user apps with tibu. Haven't tried system data though
Ya I tried it all. Short and simple we have to start over guy. Like I said before we are now on 4.3 firmware it is not supported by any backup yet since 4.3 Is not suppost to be out yet all we can do is wait till official 4.3 out for all back up apps to update to 4.3

I disagree, tibu is working fine with 4.3. Your doing something wrong.
Thanks everyone. I'm not using 4.3 right now since I'm sticking with touchwiz roms.
Titanium backup works really well for all my apps except for those system apps. When I try to restore app+data, TB seems to get stuck. Ah well, maybe samsung backs up the info somehow.
Btw, is there a way to use S Health without using a TW rom? Then I'd move up to a 4.3 rom.

It depends on what you want to backup.
- IMEI (EFS) backup: it's highly recommended. You can use any imei backup tool, or use 'IMEI Backup ★Samsung★' app.
- System backup (e.g. partitions backup): You can use Nandroid backup app.
- Apps backup: can use Titanium backup app.
- Data backup: you can use Mybackup pro app.

Humm... I'm not too sure but it maybe the same, it depends on what context you are talking about.
You can use Greenify app.

It's up to you. But once you have rooted, you cannot OTA update, you can only update by downloading the stock firmware and flash via Odin. Use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Firmware Browser' to find and download the correct stock firmware for your device. The root will be lost by updating, you have to root again.
4. Root keeper.

I'm not sure about Root keeper app, but I have tried the root keeper function in another app but it won't work.
You can give it a try.
lets say i want to install a custom rom.
What do i need to back up? What do I to use to back?

Backup your IMEI (use IMEI Backup app) + your apps (use Titanium backup ).
Hello guys, I'd would like to ask which are the best roms for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 Android 5.0? I've upgraded to stock lollipop rom 3 months ago. Sooo, What is the best rom for my phone? Also, is there anyway to upgrade my phone without deleting my apps/files? Thanks!

You've been around XDA long enough to know 'best ROM' posts are not welcome...
Best way to update though is to be rooted and use a custom Recovery like TWRP to nandroid your phone. Then you can update and Restore only Data and have almost everything back.
I also use Call logs backup and restore and SMS backup and restore so i don't lose them and I export my contacts out to extSDCard so I don't lose them either.
Add in TiBu Pro with a backup of all user (and a few sysdtem) apps and I can restore ONLY apps and have a clean flash phone.

Different ROMs suit different needs. The Mods have said no ETA posts and no best ROM posts. Look around and try things out. Best advixce is make sure you read plenty FIRST. Go through the threads and see what issues people have etc. BEFORE you flash the ROM.
Alright, thanks!
Hey guys
Ok I have a few questions regarding my situation... i went from stock (never touched my rom before.. 6.0.1 i think) on my 910F with latest ota updates.. to the Norma v14.. thats what Im running now.. but I have a few issues.. incoming calls doesnt show the names, only numbers.. thats my biggest issue oh and the fact that I cannot restore my backup made in smart switch before i flashed the rom.. now I have these questions.
1. If I go into twrp and restore to the factory state that I made a backup of, and then use Titanium backup(as i bought it) to backup my phone.. will I be able to backup everything including s-pen notes, pictures, videos, and all my apps data.. and then...
2. Can I then flash the v15 Norma rom and use titanium backup made in stock rom to restore EVERYTHING to the new rom.. thus having all my data back?
3. Oh and can anyone confirm that the lock screen off s-pen write feature works in v15?
Do I miss anything? Is this a good plan?
Oh and if anyone have experienced the problem I have with the contacts not displaying, please tell me what to do..
Thanks for any feedback. You guys rock!
