Hey all bought a vega from pc world and for the price(£199)im more than happy with it,if there's one negative I've come across with the vega then it has to be battery standby drain.I fully charged my vega and used it for about 3 hours, watched a film and a bit of web browsing anyway when i put the tablet into standby(with airplane mode on)it was at 39%.Then nine hours later i switched it out of standby and it was at 30%.Hmmm i thought that's quite a big drop in just 9 hours, anyway i played one 2minute video and with the vega still showing 30% i again put it into standby.12 hours later i awoke the vega again expecting the 30% to be maybe down to about 20% or 18%. But no it was at 7%.so basically in the space of 21 hours with no usage at all(one 2 minute video) the vega had gone from 39% down to 7%...compared to my galaxy tab which in the same timespan with the equivalent usage would only lose about 3% im thinking has the vega got a faulty battery or something.Maybe this is just one of them things, you get what you pay for,the galaxy tab cost me double the price of the vega. Like i say for the price the vega is pretty impressive but the standby drain is defiantly a major downer.I've now started to charge my vega overnight no matter what power I've got left on it.

I have the exact same problem on both my Mobii's (same as vega) it looses like 1-2%/Hour on standby and I have seen some other ppl having the same issues, so sadly i guess it is more or less normal for the vega/Mobii to drain like this.
I have solved so that I power it down when i am out and about and dont have a charger near.
Hi slipurson Even turning the vega off doesn't help for me.When i seen how poor the vega was in standby i decided that when i'm not going to use the vega for a while I'll power it off.One night i had 42% left so knowing i wouldn't be using it for a good 12 or so hours i switched it of,when i turned it back on it was showing 17%.

This might be wrong, but I recall reading that the Android phone function is enabled on the tablets, and this can cause a hit on the battery.
Not sure if you can fix this with a hack or with a new ROM, however (I've been putting up with it so far)

With the Corvus ROM the creator provides a phone removal set of files to install through Clockwork. However when I applied them I got a message on each boot about some process or other not working. I had to install the ROM again over the top to remove that message.
Both my wife's and my Vega also drains when in standby but not as much when fully powered off. As neither of us used the original ROM I do not know if it is caused or made worse by any of the modified ones or just a problem of the hardware.
We are both using the nightly builds of CM 7 now. Whilst I can't be sure as yet, having only recently changed over, the battery drain issue might not be as bad, but that ROM also has all the dialler and phone components remaining.
Hi vimesUK The battery drain on my vega was happening whilst i was running the stock Rom,I've recently put on Paul's modacco r8 Rom because i hated the big notification bar at the top and also to get access to the full market.Gotta say though that even now I've changed from the stock Rom to a custom Rom that the standby battery drain still seems to be there.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
We both like the CM 7 build with the tablet tweaks. This enables us to have the status bar at the bottom with the option for it to remain on top of any running app or not. I didn't think that having it on the bottom was a big thing but having tried it I much prefer it that way.
@wildcat777 As you have noted the battery draining issues on both the std and modified ROM, as well as others reporting it, it must be assumed to be a common issue. I will have to try and noted what my battery percentage is when I shut down my Vega, I keep forgetting to do that, and see if the improvement that I think we have noted in the CM 7 build is actually happening or, as I suspect, no different as I can't see how it would be if the Vega is shut down rather than just in standby.
FYI: I remembered that I unplugged my wife's Vega this morning at 9:00am when it had fully charged. Just checking it now (it was left switched off) by booting it up and it is at 100%.
That represents 5 hours of being off charge but powered down.
Mine has been powered off for at least 15 hours and it seems to have lost about 2-3% charge, but then a reboot will also use up some power.
I've known my Vega to be at 60% when I switch it off, when I switch it back on a little later on or even the next day the battery level has dropped right down to about 18%.
There's obviously a problem somewhere, I don't know if somebody is trying to pinpoint why this is happening.
Vimes the problem seems to start after the vega has been turned on and used for a bit, what i mean is,when i charge the vega whilst of then unplug it,i can leave it for 6 or 7 hours then turn it on and its still at 100% or 99% charged, but after that 1st initial switch on after the charge anytime i put it into any kind of prolonged standby and it will lose power hand over fist, even switching it of doesn't help.personally i don't think there's a fix for this,i think it's just something we'll all have to put up with. There is one possible solution that im considering.I also own a galaxy tab and the battery meter was giving out fake readings.so say the battery was at 60% it would suddenly drop to 3% even though i knew for certain it had plenty of charge left.anyway the fix for this problem was to open up the tab and remove the battery, wait for 30 minutes and replace the battery.this 100% fixed the problem, there's a thread on the galaxy tab forum on this i'll try and post it for you all.don't know if this might work with the vega or not could be worth a try.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Cant post the thread but if you go to forums its in the Samsung galaxy tab general section and the thread is called "FAKE STATUS OF BATTERY"read the entire thread to understand the battery removal technique this has worked 100% and has helped solve a major problem that the tab had.

I found simple way to remove:
I renamed with root explorer, force close is came up, and turned off and on Vega with by button.
I to have the problem of low battery after leaving the device off for a while, although it seems to be a battery gauge problem rather than a battery problem.
Because it still lasts ages before needing charging, hell sometimes it will suddenly flip from 10% to 80%.
Think battery can't read it's charge properly is all.

I have this issue on Darky 10.1 (2.6 kernel), 2.3.3
Battery lasts around 10 hours with light to medium usage (its a new original Samsung battery as well).
Does anyone have any quick advice to fix this? Bit under time pressure due to job at the moment and don't have much time to research this. Any advice to fix this easily and quickly?
I had this problem after switching on the “Vorabruf über Mobilnetz“ in the Cache-Settings of Google Maps. Maps was closed, but battery was fast going down. Using XWJVH.

I too have almost the same problem with Darky Rom 10.1 - but I've heard that it has been fixed in the new beta version. I'm gonna flash it at the end of the week and after a few days of observing, I'm gonna tell you the results.

I think I figured it out.....I think it was Skype. If you sign in the app is always on...it doesn't have an exit feature. There is, however, an app to close it. I used it and got normal battery life today!
We'll see if it keeps working like it should.
So I've upgraded to 2.3.4, (Ficeto.Deodexed.XXJVP) and Android OS battery drain stopped. Now it shows 70% battery usage on display (before it was 70% android OS). I recommend updating your system too
with darky on medium use never had more than 14 hrs )
I've given up for the moment and gone back to Darkys 9.5
Now at least I can get through one whole day and have about 40% left

Are you willing to flash the rom again? or you can try to use the speedmod 15g t11 for the kernel to replace the JVP kernel.
it's said that when you use the USB connection to your PC, you need to reboot it. So this battery drainage will not happen.
In the ROm 2.3.3 JV5 and JV6 for Asia, I do the same to keep the batter alive.
Try backing up everything and then factory reset phone. Generally this happens because of a few unwanted applications excessively using ur processor, in turn draining battery or there may be a malware that stealthily connects itself to the net. This will almost certainly cure the disease. If it doesn't, then there is a serious defect in ur hardware or some of ur system app required for properfunctioning of the phone is corrupted, causing excess pressure on the processor
It is a big problem to everyone, I charge twice per day for this.
Calibrate your battery
Let the battery go down to 0% and turn off
Then turn the phone on, it'll turn itself off again cause battery is low
Keep doing this until its totally 0%
Plug in the charger, charge it to 100%
Turn the phone on
Download SGS Tools from the android market place
Run the app
Go to "scripts"
click delete battery stats
Unplug charger & you're done
battery should be more stable now
go to settings
applications
running services
check what you have in the background
close them down if they're unecessary
I get through the workday with only 10% loss
If you have an really old SIM card, try and replace it with a brand new one. This may also help. I had bad battery run time with two LG Optimus 2x phones (about 10 hours) and not so stellar 20 hours with the i9000. Finally I stumbled over some advise to replace old SIM cards. Since mine was over 12 years old, I ordered a new one. It is not gonna change the world, I know, but it was worth a try .
there has been a strange increase of battery problems for note users here on xda . bloated battery . flickering battery % and what not...
i read somewhere in xda that the note battery is only bound to last a year or so...is it true ?
if its true that means we as are gonna see a lot more similar threads in the coming months when people cross the 1 year mark
being a heavy user my phone has been constantly on charge for.the past 9 months ..And recently I've noticed that my battry takes longer to charge and then runs out quicker than before.
is this 1 year battery thing , a samsung issue or an android issue ?? or is it an acceptable life for a smartphone battery ?
what do you guys think ?

My Note is one year and three days old and is still going strong with the original and only battery I've used. I can't say I've noticed a drop in battery life at all. Typically I top up the battery daily from the original charger, although it could go for a few days between charges if it had to. I just prefer to have a full battery when I leave the house. You never know what your needs might be throughout the day - emergencies, for example. I usually let it charge past the first sign of 100%, all the way until I get the additional "Full" green battery appear in the notification bar.
As for ROMS, I've tried every stock ROM since release (now on the latest stock ICS and have been since it came out) and also dabbled briefly with AOKP and Paranoid.
I wonder, isn't battery also 1 year guarantee?

From my experience, having two different android phones, spare battery chargers always charge the battery fully unlike the handsets. I would say draining the battery fully from time to time and charge it by a spare battery charger enhances the battery life back to "what is expected". No manual battery calibration is needed if you own a spare battery charger for your phone.
I rotate usage with 2 batteries. Therefore everything is cool.

Reason signal plummeted is the aerial is connected to this board also

You've only had your phone 3 days, and your still flashing new roms, which sucks up a lot of juice. Let it settle for a few days.
Also a 4.7" display sucks down battery. My phone last all day no problem now that I've had it for a few weeks. First week it wouldn't last 6 hours... because I used it for 6 hours screen on constantly.
Hi guys,
A couple of weeks ago, Note II informed me of an upgrade. I did a bit of googling and found out it was to fix some exonys bug. Seemed pretty important so I did the upgrade post haste.
At first the battery life was atrocious (like a 50% drop). The same thing happened with my old iPhone 4 but everything reverted to normal within a week. So, I though maybe things are new and Android will fix itself up after some time.
How wrong was I ? LOL. My phone gives me just a day's worth of battery life. Earlier it was a solid two days. Which was why I justified carrying this brick of a phone. It is pretty ridiculous to see the battery drop by 30% at times in three or four hours (despite zero use).
Any suggestions to improve or remove the pathetic firmware upgrade.
1. Use the nova launcer
2. Auto brightness with the slider dragged to 1/3rd
3. 3G always on
4. The battery screen shows screen taking 70% of the battery! I have the auto off timer set to 15s the minimum.
Any suggestions guys? I am frustrated with this phone post the update. Thinking of switching back to the iPhone as atleast it gave me a day's pf juice in a much pocketable format.:crying:

But the drop has been extreme in my case.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Honestly you can't do anything. In American english, you can't do nothing!
Turn 3G off, when you don't need it. Keep brightness at as low as possible.
That's all. 4.1.2 drains juice faster than 4.1.1, it's the truth, doesn't really matter if someone agrees or not.
You could go back to 4.1.1 ROM you know and depend on your luck for that Exynos issue. Otherwise give up on great battery backup and stay with 4.1.2, like I'm doing. Nowadays I don't even monitor how much battery backup/screen on time I'm getting, on 4.1.1 it was the opposite story however.
Hey, so should I just resign myself to a gimped battery? What really hurts is how awesome the battery was before.
Any word on when samsung would release a good update?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Download better battery stats to make sure there is no wake lock. I will advise despite my best efforts the battery life has plummeted when upgrading to 4.1.2. Stick to 4.1.1 for battery life. It still lasts much longer than an average handset saying that

If you go back to 4.1.1.... Stock even....you'll have the same battery issue.
After about 2 weeks of having the 4.1.2 (the second update I received) on DBT my battery life one day just magically got better! I had been having terrible battery life (like 1 days worth) for 3 months, and now I get home every day from work with 50-70% battery. I charge it every night, regardless of the %. But it just magically got better. I'd say give it a go for a week or 2, and see if it helps. I don't know what happened with mine, but it looks like the software just "settled in" because I didn't install ANYTHING new, and in fact, I hadn't even uninstalled anything! It just got better after using it. Do a few battery pulls / restarts, too.
I went back to 4.1.2 last night and right now I'm at 50% charge, 17 hours standby time and 5 hours of screen time... I'd say my battery issue is fixed.. for now lol
I also must say that after a week or so of using 4.1.2 battery went much better overnight. I automatically turn on airplane mode during night, and on 4.1.1 I had like 1-2% drain overnight from full charge. After updrage to 4.1.2 it jumped to 10-20% !!! Now, it is down to like 4%, which is not that bad. Still have to see how it behaves during the day, I think it is not any better. Well, at least that standby drain is (much) better....
