Stack after soft brick - Vibrant General

Hello,
So I tried to help a friend with new vibrant that has soft brick,
After some tries, I have this the best situation that show this picture (attached)
But still the phone not boot and if i press reboot now the phone stack on infinity loop.
Thanks for the help

download AIO vibrant toolbox (the first pinned thread in developers forum) enter download mode and use odin to flash to stock (both are on that AIO vibrant toolbox).
To enter download mode, remove battery, connect the USB to your PC and your phone, press both vol + and - button and then put the battery while still holding the buttons. You will enter download mode and can use odin.

That looks like you're trying to go back from a voodoo lagfix setup. You need yo Odin jfd and ONLY jfd because it's the only released full Odin rom that will recover you from different partition formats.

tried flash this "T959UVJFD.tar"
after flash the phone is stack on vibrant and restart himself in 5 seconds

some one can help?

did you load the corresponding .pit file as well?

Sure, tried repartiton too.

At the same time?

yes, I think this is result of lagfix or something...

OP, you sound like you know what you're doing, so I can give you the short and sweet answer.
First, flash the Odin package from here: http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=samsungsgs&action=display&thread=8
Then pull your battery, reboot to dl mode, and flash the Odin package from here, selecting repartition this time only: http://eb-productions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=samsungsgs&action=display&thread=3
That should get the phone back on a rooted, stock Froyo rom, with the modified recovery so you or your friend can then flash clockwork recovery, if you choose to do so.

Agree ^. Sounds like the best plan of action to me.

I think I have a 4g device,
anyone have solution for 4g phone?

You should check over at the Vibrant 4g forums, you're currently in the Vibrant 3g forum.
Sent from my ZenDroid, meditating on the XDA App

okay that clears things up a little bit. My guess is you or someone else tried to flash either the update.zip or a rom from the regular vibrant forum. That will cause the issue that you are having, because the 4G is setup differently than the vibrant. Brick'd is right you need to head over to the 4G forum and see if they have stock files that you can odin to.

Thanks it was 4g, flashed 4g stock Tom and the issue fixed.
thanks again.
If someone have like this problem may be you got a 4g and not vibrant.
vibrant looks like 4g and from where I bought this device, the seller said that this is a vibrant.

So in the vain effort to try and keep the files i have i tryed flashing the SPH-D700 kernal, bare-min and odin hung, Now im trying to get the full factory reset files to flash with odin. are their any other ways to do this other than going all the way back to SPH-D700-DG27-8GB file? BTW when i start now the phone comes up with a phone dash dash yellow ! dash dash Icon. Im guessing I completely trashed this thing. Some one help me?

If it powers on then you still have hope. Hold qwerty 1 and the power button to boot into download mode and use this thread to flash back to stock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773032

I have had your same problem my friend just hold 1 while pressing power on and get in download mode then just do odin again
This nice yellow arrow has happened to me bunches of times so don't worry!
When you get the dash yellow icon situation, the only way to recover is to flash back to factory with Odin3.
In case you haven't gotten it yet, here's the download link for the di18 stock tar:
http://www.multiupload.com/X9AB1U56JV
You can get back into download mode by doing the following:
* Close the Odin program
* Pull the USB cable and battery out of the phone
* While pressing both the 1 key and power button with one hand, replace the battery with the other. Download mode should immediately appear.
* Open Odin first, then reconnect the USB cable
* Load the di18 stock tar into PDA, reboot should be the only thing ckecked. Press start.
I wrote the all in one script, and would like to know what happened when you installed the clockwork mod. Tell me what OS you were using and what messages came up. The script should have detected if the install wasn't successful.

Being the resilient person that I am, (as well as the impatient one). I found a stock Tar for DG26 and Flashed it to my phone using odin... it fixed it. Then i manually updated it... Had i waited for a response i would have known there was a .tar file with the DI18 update floating about... Thanks for the help though. This is a good forum with a good community.

At least quite a few people came to your aid... glad you've gotten it sorted. Feel free to post again in the all in one if you still want to install clockwork mod, I do my best to help as long as I'm online. You know what to do now in case something doesn't work out... It's happened to us all.
Interesting enough, I don't think I actually bricked the phone when I first installed Clockwork. Seeing as this is my first smartphone and my first foray into the Android universe, I am a bit of a noob when it comes to how things are done. Not realizing that clockwork Mod used a different button to engage items than the normal Samsung recovery platform, I had thought I had some how overridden the start up files to eclair with the All in one program.. After re-upgrading the phone back to DI18, I rooted then installed clock work again using the "AIO" program. (great program BTW). I encountered a similar error to what I had before, When I was in clockwork I was unable to leave by using the home button or even removing the battery, but I hit the back button and then figured out that the camera button acted like the home button would in the native Samsung recovery client. I think this was the case from the start. Just keep this as a story of warning if you ever are in my position, ask people before you think you've completely "bricked" or screwed something up, because there may be a simple solution. Anyways thanks for the help, I'm still learning all of this, though I've been using linux platforms for years (no ubuntu or mint, more Red hat and Debian.) so you'd think id be ok at it....

[Q] Rooted Vibrant turning on and off

I just had my phone rooted on tuesday by a friend. It started turning itself off for the first few hours and went back to normal for a day. Last night it started turning itself on and off every minute. I know nothing about phones, can anyone help me?
How did your friend root?
Did they delete system apps?
Did they apply lag fixes?
Perhaps just flash a custom rom. Their better than stock and should fix your issue. I hope they didn't do a lag fix. Disable it if they did.
He did something like holding the power button/volume up/down to get into download mode? That's all i know. He said he didn't remove any of the system apps, or change anything. He added a wifi-tethering for me, that's why he rooted it. I know nothing about phones and computers. I'm out of town for another week so i can't have him fix it, but i need to do something so i can use my phone. Any suggestions?
oh ya, he used ODIN if i remember right
I don't know why he would be using Odin if all he was doing was rooting the phone. Can you get to the web to DL anything? I would try flashing something with clockwork till you can re-flash to stock with Odin. You need to find out what exactly your friend did when he worked on your phone.
Can you adb? I would like to see the log.

As was I, and that's the only time I've seen that screen.
OP, you're friend definitely did more than simply root your phone. Especially if you say he used Odin? There's no reason to use Odin to gain root.
I would recommend you Odin back to stock and start fresh.
is there any way i can do it without Odin? I'm out of town for a week and need my phone
Rom manager / clockworkmod. Just go to the app store (it's free) and download it. Flash the recovery and flash back to stock 2.1 eclair. It should fix it then when you get home just use the one click root method to root your phone. Check the vibrant bible in android dev. to do it, it's really easy to do yourself since it is literally, one click ^_^ Also for the rom of 2.1 I also recommend going to the vibrant bible for that as well. All you have to do is dl rom manager, put the 2.1 rom on the root of your sd (not external sd) then go into rom manager and install custom rom (pick the stock 2.1). It will wipe your data but your phone should be fixed and you can always dl back your apps and import contacts through your gmail account. Hope this helps.

[GUIDE] Sprint sph p100 stock firmware RECEOVERY: last resort.

Ok i decided i post what i did to recovery my sprints tab from a bad kernel flash that i didn't install clock work recovery, I thought my tab was a lost cause which i even chatted with hsn were i bought mine at for a replacement which would've took up to 30days.. So awhile i wait for that i decided to try and get it working till i get the prepaid label lol
Matter what i did it kept getting stuck at the samsung screen and couldn't get into recovery but download mode work luckly. i tried all kernels listed and it still got stuck which at the time i thought my tab was bricked or semi brick.
What i did is keep searching for the stock firmware which was hard to find but i found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9753941#post9753941
Heres a direct link http://www.multiupload.com/WDKOUJSM2G
Thanks to ZoinksS2k for the tab sprint no modem firmware
And downloaded the stock no modem firmware the modem one is listed too but it will kill your gps and 3g might not work so i just did the no modem one.
So i downloaded it and odin was package with it and i couldn't get it to detect my tab in download mode ony when the tab was off it detected it..
So i tried heimdall and at first i couldn't get it to flash the start button was grayed out because i was putting the tar file into pda/code so i open the tar file and found factory.rfs param.ifs and cache.rfs and dbdata.rfs so i loaded all thoes in the heimfall boxes and than loaded the stock zimage which is in the tar too.
And than i flashed and saw the samsung screen and it went right pass it and played the samsung splash screen so i knew i was getting somewhere so it got stuck on the next samsung screen again.. So i turn it off and hold home button and volume up button than i push the power button and hold all 3 buttons till i saw the samsung screen and i left go the power button and the stock recovery loaded right up
So i did the wipe data/factory reset and i also did the wipe cache data just in case but im sure just the factory reset would work, And i restarted the tab and it went pass all screens and it loaded android!!! And everything was working 3g wifi gps and everything else.
So hopefully this guide will help others as a last resort if you ony get the samsung screen and download mode ony,If you get the receovery than just do the factory wipe.
This is worth a try first than sending it back to samsung and having to wait too get your tab back It sure saved me from having to send it back too hsn or samsung.
If you want you can thank me if this help you for providing the info
Gordesky,
Any idea how to go back to stock firmware + stock modem and all that from using the voodoo kernel? I have CWM Recovery 3.0 working.
Because, after going into Voodoo CWM Recovery, using wipe data/factory reset still keeps the kernel that I installed on - which is what makes my camera screwy.
If you want to go back to fully stock then follow his instructions and flash the stock kernel from the Zephyr thread. I actually am in the same boat as the OP and followed his instructions and now I'm fully back to stock.
Yep just do what I said which the tar file also have the stock kernel too.
Right now im on the voodoo kernel which works perfect except that cdrom problem but camera works for me so im gonna still with.this kernel so far. It seems the new sprint update doesint work right with the voodoo kernel problaby why I dont have any problems because I didint install the sprint update.
So when you go back too stock and want too give the voodoo another try dont install the sprint update when it asks you too, And everything should work other than the sdcard cdrom problems, Which I can deal with till it gets fixed because I do love the speed of this voodoo kernel
And the sound
Thank you gordesky1 for posting your experience because I was going through the exact same thing and I was at a loss as to how to resolve it. Unfortunately I did install the update but I'm pretty sure if I flash the same files again that I will go back to the original rom if that's necessary. The big problem with that is that the exchange fix in the update was something i was waiting for =\ so I think i'm going to wait and see if some of these issues are fixed in the next update but I wonder if we have to get Boushh a Sprint tab though =\ every day I curse myself for not getting a t-mobile or at least a Verizon tab *sigh*
No problem
Ya tell me about it... Bad thing for me is the sprint was my ony option which i got it because hsn were i bought it from had a flex pay on this tab which they ony have the sprint tab, and at the time i couldint pay 400 or 600$ right out. And i also got a 3years warranty on top of it from them even if i break it or drop it anywere which i pretty much got for free because they made a mistake at first with some software
The other tabs have cheaper 3g too like 5gb for 15 too 30$ a month.. But so far sprint is treating me good and the 3g has been stable so far and pretty fast loading webpages and can usely watch a youtube video but dont want too use up my monthy usage lol i usely use up too 500 too 600mbs max out of 2g and i useit every day and even download apps with it when im not near a wifi spot and listen too pandora too so i was suprized i didint get close too the 2gb limit yet.
Hopefully this thread will help more and save them from having too send it back too samsung or were they got it from, i know how it feels not having this tab which i use everyday at work.
I knew not to flash the modem from the restore package posted but when I tried to restore I used the .pit and the .tar. Failed at modem. So, being dumb I flashed the modem file. ugh.
Now I know all you need to do is flash the .tar, nothing else, no pit.
Your Post Saved Me!!!!!
10 characters
Your welcome and glad it helped I figure it was worth posting sense it brought my tab back too life which i thought i would've had too sent it back and waited a month or so, And wanted others too get there tab back too life with out playing the wait game which i really hate .. lol
this worked! I was able to get rid of CWM, my tab is 100% stock again! thanks a bunch!

I flash the above .tar and .pit with Odin and I still can't get rid of CWM. I had CWM 3.0 working. Then I flashed a Kernel (Khasmek) with kernel flasher and the damn thing froze on the splash screen. So I odin and it doesn't do a full factory reset. CWM folder is still there. Does anbody know how to completely revert back to stock firmware?
I basically want to start over from scratch and never use Kernel flasher.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem, really wish I had read your post before I attempted to get CWM on my sprint galaxy tab.
I believe the update failed for me due to mismatch baseband (EB28) and system build (DJ30), I am looking for a roto backup copy of system build EB28, if anyone have it, please help and upload!
Many thanks.

okay, im farily new to the galaxy tab forums, only reason im here is because my friend bricked his tab and figured i could take a stab at it, i mean im good at fixing my galaxy s so i figured, how hard can this be. Wrong, my head is killing me because i cant figure this out. His tab is stuck in a boot loop mean it goes to the "samsung" screen and then stays there forever. I tried using odin with the stock firmware with no modem, everything went good but when it attemped to restart still nothing ? can someone please school me on how to do this properly please. Im a pretty good listener if im given descent instructions lol please by all means HELP lol

Phone wont boot, Odin dont work

So i was trying to flash a new rom onto my vibrant and the instructions told me to mount card and format SYSTEM, after doing so my battery popped out (lid was off) i placed the battery back in but it wont boot up. STAYED AT VIBRANT PAGE
i thought of using odin to recover to eugeune froyo bit its not doing anything...its stuck on set pit file...
any suggestions??
thank you!

I was using Bionix and it was so freaking slow, so I attempted to flash stock on it and forgot about the different filesystems, and that hardbricked my phohe like in the article. So I did the instructions in the article and then I flashed stock deodexed Froyo, choosing "Re-partition". Then I rooted it and flashed a kernel with lagfix to make it a little faster.
So long as you can get it to turn on in ANY fashion (anything on the screen) it will flash.
If you can't get Odin to recognize the phone or flash it (e.g. it fails during operation and hoses you) either use Heimdal or turn OFF your computer and start from zero with it. Samsung's USB drivers are flaky and will flip out on occasion which hoses your flashing attempts and leads to soft "bricks."
I've actually managed to recover from what I THOUGHT was a hard brick this way -- I couldn't get ANYTHING to come up on the screen for a while -- but eventually did manage to get the computer --> phone icon back up, and from there was able to flash.
Note that ALL of the flashes other than the ORIGINAL T-Mobile code are non-formatting, non-wiping flashes. If you flash one of those over something incompatible (e.g. a custom rom) you will get a boot loop back into recovery that will not start. The solution is to flash back to the ORIGINAL T-Mobile code and then go from there.
Make sure you are using T959UVJFD.tar and 512.pit file when you flash with odin when having these types of issues. Just be ready for the really loud and annoying t-mobile chime upon bootup.
Man I hate that chime with a passion.
Sounds like the issue may be on Odin's end. Did you plug your USB cable into your computer and open Odin before plugging into your phone?

Unbrick this phone. ( This is a good one )

So I was mucking about installing ICS on my fascinate and I've managed to thoroughly brick the device. It will not power on in any form from my perspective. No Download mode, no recovery nothing.
The steps that I took to get myself here
Installed Teamhacksung ICS Build 2 (Everything was wokring fine except calenders so I had to do a reinstall)
Did a Full wipe of all mount point via CWR and fresh reinstall including Google Apps v.5.
Booted fine went through initial setup.
Downloaded Glitch kernel 14 preview 2 for the i9000 ( Yes I know in retrospect it is the obvious wrong kernel )
Flashed Wrong kernel via CWR
Booted phone ( It started up just fine. But I had no Wifi and no 3G not panel buttons only physical worked. This is when I looked at the kernel filename again and discovered my mistake.)
Booted to CWR via power button menu
CWR was modified along with th glitch kernel install. ( It is unable to mount sdcard of any local resource.
I figure okay my bad lets odin
I put the phone in download mode
I flash the atlas_2.2.pit and the CWM4 tar designed to work with CM7 with the following options.
----Odin 1.83
Re-partition
F Reset Time
Atlas_2,2.pit in PIT section
CWM4_for_cm7.tar in PDA Section
-----
Flash is successful I power down phone by pulling battery and unpluging from usb
I put the battery back in to boot into recovery and the phone will not power on.
It will not enter download mode via volume-down method or via 301k jig
This phone is dead as far as I'm concerned.
Any help / ideas are appreciated.
I would try a new cable. If that doesnt work i think your only option is the Unbrickable mod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288093&highlight=unbrickable+mod
Not that it will help but I believe your mistake was in using the pit file without flashing a rom. You repartitioned your device and then did not install an os essentialy.
Edit: you should also pull the battery while flashing with Odin.
On a possibly helpful note, have you tried connecting to Odin since then. I know on the Charge people have reported entering download mode but having no visual conformation of it (ie: blank screen but Odin recognizes the phone). Might be worth a shot.
We all make mistakes, I hard bricked my wifes Charge because I keep all my Odin files together, clicked through to quickly and ended up flashing stock i500 files to it instead of i510 files.../facepalm
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
Ya I've tried connecting to Odin even though not visual representation for Download Mode is there. The Fascinates do that as well from time to time. The thing that gets me is that even if the partition structure is totally hosed the phone "should" be able to get into download mode. I disassembled it last night and will be attempting the Unbrickable mod once a new tip comes for my soldering iron.
I have no clue why you used Odin and repartition v2.2 pit without flashing a stock ROM. where you got the idea to flash a cwm file instead of a .tar ROM file is beyond me.
Now that i have given you some scolding. unless one of fascinates geniuses comes to your rescue. You're only option is to use unbrickable mod on you're phone. And you best follow directions on that mod a lot better than you have on this past endeavor. It does involve soldering your processor pins, so i wish you luck.

Have you tried making/buying a jig to trick the phone into Download Mode.
I found these 2 threads:
Jig 1
&
Jig 2
I found these on the captivate forums when I needed it and it works pretty well, but buying one is much easier.
If you arent familiar with what I'm talking about, putting 301k of resistance on the 4 & 5 pins on our phones will put the phone in Download mode, which is what a jig will do for you.
They are also sold on Ebay, and on MobileTech Videos.
Hope this helps!

Flashing with the battery in is no different than flashing with it out really. The reason all Fascinate tutorials say to flash with the battery out is to prevent recovery from getting over-written should the phone reset and boot normally after flashing.
Also, I would say try a download mode jig. Since you flashed the i9000 kernel, it could be doing something odd that a Fascinate wouldn't normally do. If it was a MTD i9000 kernel, hopefully it didn't re-partition and wipe out or corrupt the bootloader/secondary bootloader.
