Hmm, not sure what I've done here?
Rooted.
Deleted some bloat.
Phone / contacts / info / call log / msg log are still there but facebook status' are gone?
Gone through deleting all the event stream stuff, timescape stuff & FB & Twitter extentions. And Infinite View.
Re-booted, Reinstalled all of the above stuff, made sure I moved them all to phone memory then rebooted again.
Still not showing up??
Any ideas here?
You need facebook app on internal storage if you want to sync it

Hey guys,
Hoping you can help me with this besides doing a hard reset. I had to resync all of my People contacts over again and now they won't link with Facebook contacts (won't show the Facebook picture in Favorites or link in People at all - when I'm in People and click the sync button to click 'link Facebook profile', the list is empty).
I've tried loggin out and then back in to Facebook, but no luck.
What can i do to fix this?
Did you remove HTC sense

No.
I think I just fixed it (I googled the error message and tried a couple things I read):
I went to the setup program (the one that you got the first time you started the phone), and went through it until reaching the facebook options. Logged out, and logged in again. I then re-synced HTC contacts and slowly it refreshed the Facebook stuff and I could manually link contacts to FB contacts.
So im not sure how I got into this situation but here it is. My Social Networking App shows no logins, and when opening says to go to setup but times out. If I go into my accounts it shows my facebook and twitter. I have tried to remove the twitter and facebook accounts but they say "error occured" and will not go any further. Is there a way thru manage applications, that i can clear the data (like the old google apps storage trick on 1.5-1.6) or any other tricks short of a master reset to fix this?
Thanks
Alright so I had to remove my facebook account from my phone and put it back in - like countless other people the contacts aren't sync'ing. Here's what I've tried:
Removed facebook account from Accounts. Uninstalled Facebook app updates. Turned off phone. Logged into facebook on my PC and went into application settings and removed facebook mobile and samsung mobile access. Booted phone. Checked logs and saw "facebook_1.2.apk has changed ... unpacking" Rebooted phone. I went back into accounts and added Facebook account - still not syncing with the contacts. I opened the Facebook app and logged in. The facebook app gave itself an account in my Accounts & Sync (So now two facebook entries there) but the app will only pull contacts not the calendar. But it did put pics and link my contacts successfully.
So now you're probably thinking - problem solved albeit through 2 facebook accounts on the phone right? That's what I thought - one can do my calendar and one can do my contacts. However, I then discovered that for some reason the contact pictures aren't showing up in the messaging app - or anywhere else in the phone where they should (Except the Contacts app itself). So I started the whole process over again keeping a close eye on the logs to check for errors. Apparently for the contact pictures to populate to other parts of the phone, it needs to be done through SNS service. While trying to update the facebook account with the SNS setting (Not the one created by the FB App) and pouring over the logs I came across:
W/System.err(2437): at com.sec.android.app.sns.xml.parser.SnsXmlParser.parse(SnsXmlParser.java:73)
E/SNS_PARSER(2437): SnsXmlParser : xmlReader.parse() : SAXException occur
Parse method return false
So it would appear that the SNS service is to blame. The question then is... why is it broken? I'm wondering if this is something that happened through an MR. I've had the phone since launch and contact sync was never failure free (Unlike my HTC phones) but if you let it sit a few days it would magically work one day - well I've been sitting for a few days and it hasn't fixed itself yet so that's what started me on proactive approach.
Thoughts?
I called sprint about this problem yesterday and was pretty much told its probally something with facebook and not much they can do since its 3rd party...

Well the problem I have with that response is that the Facebook app itself will pull the contacts just fine. So the issue I believe is with the sns service - whether it's going to the wrong site on facebook to pull the contacts or whatever. Which would explain why it's not able parse anything, it's not getting anything to parse. But they won't touch it. I'm willing to bet it's Samsung related. This problem happens to other Galaxy S models also. Guess we're just s.o.l.

Has there been a fix for this yet, can I drop in the sns file from lets say evo ?
No issues here..if you use the facebook account sync option at the top and turn off the one that facebook installs then everything will work fine.
My issue is tha I can not join contacts with facebook ones, it does not sns account, only the one that comes default but even then I can not join contacts, even if I match them up

Click to collapse
I'd say start over with a fresh factory default or wipe with clockwork mod. I've never had a facebook sync issue since the phone was released. Not an issue on the DK28 ones either.
Hi community.
I think everything is in the title. Pictures of My contacts does not show up anymore. I tried reboot, erase all messages, clear data and cache of the app... It works with Handcent.
Pictures are in the contact app.
If someone understand .
Thanks.
Are these pictures from contacts synced with Facebook & Twitter? Or are they actual photos from your SD Card?
Both .
Some people on Facebook, others pictures from gallery...
Try removing the sync from Facebook & Twitter, reboot and then re-establish the sync.
Ok I do it now.
I will let you know if it worked.
Out of interest, are you using the stock android contacts app or HTC's people app?
It worked !
Thanks !
I don't understand what happened.
I used the HTC contact app.
I'm not a n00b, so I wouldn't post this unless something was up. Haven't ever had issues w/ contacts' pics loading - specifically, their Facebook profile pic. All of the entries in my Contacts list are perfect - they have their Facebook pic on them.
Today though, in the native Messages app (hush, I've been a long-time Handcent user, prior to that, ChompSMS), no one's pic appears - just the default, androgynous avatar. Well, I should say that no one's pics but my fiancee's - everyone else just has the default icon.
I cleared Cache and Data for the Messages app. I also cleared Cache partition and Dalvik Cache via Recovery.
To recap:
- Facebook for MyTouch/HTC Sense is syncing live feed and contacts just fine
- Contacts in the Contact list show their current Facebook pic
- It is only in the Messages app, that I am no longer seeing contact pics
Any ideas?
i have the same problem from time to time... what i do is export my contacts to sd, then delete the facebook for mytouch account under "Accounts & Sync". Then I go to settings, "applications", all, then clear data under contacts, and contact storage. The only bad thing is that now you have no contacts. you have to import them from your sim or sd. Then create your facebook account in accounts and sync. Then link all your contacts to their facebook account. This is a long and horrible way to fix it, but it works for me. i wish there was a faster way without deleting all of our contacts.
hope this helps
Thanks for the response, One! It's not a show-stopper, so I'm going to keep on looking for less-invasive options, but if I can't get a resolution, I'll give your steps a shot.
I do a Nandroid backup regularly, so I guess I could just flip back a few days. I'll hang on though and see if something comes out of these.
Thanks again, One.
no prob, if you find a better way, let me know... i hate deleting everything...
