[q] blue screen flashes & freezing please help! - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

EDIT PLEASE READ THROUGH
Alright, I'm about to give up again. My phone.. I don't understand what the **** is wrong with it. I have uninstalled, task29ed, reinstalled magldr flashed with CWm uhhh.. all that stuff over and over and over and over again and it STILL freezes, flashes a blue screen, crashes, restarts, freezes all that stuff.
Right now the issues I have are :
-It crashes on the tri color screen when I plug the USB in.
-It stays at the "Stick Together Scren"
-It crashes when I get to MAGLDR (IF I get t MAGLDR)
So I can't really get anywhere with these reoccurring problems.
Right now I have
-2.08.HSPL
-Radio 2.15.50.40.
-Magldr V 1.13
And that's it. I have TMOUS HTC HD2
I'm trying to install D4RK MIUI v1.5 (1.6.24)
Yes, all my battery little prongs are straight
Yes, I format my SanDisk SD Card
Yes, I did everything I was supposed, followed every instruction to the T, and yet... still.
I'm sure it's not bricked.. It still turns on and stuff, but it just freezes and crashes CONSTANTLY.
PLEASE anyone that knows ANYTHING new I could do, or can direct somewhere. PLEASE. I really love this phone and the possibilities it holds, I don't want to use my stupid Samsung Galaxy S 4G. It's so slow xDD

Anyone have any suggestions..?

To help you everything you say have to be precise. Like is your ROM is it an android NAND and what's the name of it. To check turn off your phone, then turn it on, right from the start by press and hold the red button until you see MAGLDR 1.13 screen. If you see it then we can move to next confirmation steps like what's the name of your ROM. There is no way to fix any if you just give us a maybe. From MAGLDR, select power down, then wait a few second then power your device on and let it boot all the way into the ROM. When your ROM fully loaded, go into Settings/About phone/look under what's the Build number? What's the Android version? What's the Baseband version?

I have magldr 1.13
So I ended up getting a stupid samsung galaxy s xD
ANYWAY, the other day I charged up my old HTC HD2 and prior to ignoring it and letting it die, I removed android and magldr. But I wasn't able to remove HSPL because it wouldn't stay on long enough for me to do it.
And today when I thought it had "fixed itself". It was working completely fine, no freezing on WinMo. So I thought 'what the heck let's do it again!' so I followed the steps for flashing your first nand rom from mskip and I still get the same problems. The phone freezes, I leave it alone, try to press buttons, and it flashes a blue screen then reboots. Magldr doesn't load, I can still get into the tri color screen, I've tried to master reset it multiples of times.. I DUNNO WHAT TO DOOOOOO. And it seems like I'm the only one with this problem xD Please help!

Well of course it is, what do you expect, you have just wiped the entire nand.
You need to re-install MAGLDR, then the partition size you need for the rom you want, then copy the rom to your SD and flash with recovery. Get the HD2 NAND tools from the sticky thread in Android NAND forum, that will make process allot easier for you.
You should also properly format your sdcard with Panasonic SDFormatter (Full+Overwrite+size adjust). Then in recovery>advanced>sd partition (1GB+0MB swap) If you have a EU HD2 and need the extra data storage/rom requires it.

Could you be a little more specific....? ^^;
Like.. how do I flash with recovery.
What tools are you talking about, 'cause I downloaded the HD2 toolkit and have no idea on how to use it. Seemed simpler than I expected.

(when this is done,Go to ad recovery>advanced>Partition SD Card.1024m with 0 swap)Remember: ALL data on your SD Card will be erased!(Therefore, back it up)
Then go to ad recovery and wipe data, cache partition, and dalvik(advanced).
Then go to install zip from sd card
Choose zip from sd card (which you should have placed on the root of your sd card, using a card reader)
After installation,reboot.
Give it time.
Some ROMS take 15-20 minutes to install.
An alternative is KEVIN134's TOOLKIT (Don't forget to thank him).
This one is a good step by step guide for complete beginners.

Hey! Thanks for replying! I figured it out on my own and have been installing roms through my SD card via Clockwork Mod. It works well for awhile, but I still have the same problem I started off with. The phone freezes and a blue screen flashes then restarts. Do you know why this is happening?

yes, formatting the sd card fixes a lot
use radio 2.15
and before flashing a rom, always wipe data/cache/dalvik cache

Hi,
Couple more questions.
What sd card are you using?(brand, class, size, etc.)
What ROM are you trying to install?

I have SanDisk micro SD adaptorfor my SanDisk 16 GB microSD there's also a number 2 in a circle at the top right and HC in the bottom right.
I'm trying to install D4RK MIUI v1.5 (1.6.24)

Hi,
Sandisk is a good make of card which is Android friendly.
If you have formatted it as suggested above, that should not be the problem.
Did you follow my guide to the letter?
D4RK MIUI requires a 150MB CWM partition.Did you enter those figures in the KSUBEDI TOOLKIT?
Are you sure you downloaded the MAGLDR version of the ROM?

Yes, yes, yes and yes xD I'm just as stumped as you are.
Could the Sim card have anything to do with it?

Problem loading Android SD

Hello,
I've tried 3 different android versions, including AmeriCan Android-CM7-17-08-2011, but i'm stuck on the logo screen (with the gray ameriCan logo or the HTC logo) after the kernel load. I've waited for 30 minutes, but no luck... I have all the reuqirements like the latest HD2 original rom, latest radio, HSPL all up to 3.03... I've formated the card, i've reinserted the battery several times, but cant make it run.
What is the problem?

do you write your steps exactly? for sd roms hspl is not necessary.
On the bootloader i have SPL-3.03.HSPL
On all the instructions i've read, they say i need HSPL... anyway, will it do any harm if i have it?

Moments ago i've tried SuperRAM_FroYo_V1.5, but it keeps restarting my device after staying for 10 seconds on the android HTC logo...
My steps were
1. Update my original ROM to WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14
2. Installed HSPL, tried several versions
After that i followed these instructions
Power off your phone.
Press volume down button (don’t let go) and power on your phone.
It will load into bootloader.
You should get ‘Red, Green, Blue and White’ screen with SPL-3.03.
Take off the battery.
Power on your phone.
You should see R 2.15.50.14 and D 3.14.xx at bottom of the screen with green HTC Logo.
Connect USB cable from PC to phone after Windows Mobile loaded.
Select ‘Disk Drive’ and click ‘Done’.
Open removable disk (SD card storage) at PC.
Open Android ROM zip with 7-Zip.
Copy ‘Android’ and ‘Media’ folders to SD card.
Disconnect USB cable from phone.
Open ‘File Explorer’.
Go to ‘Storage Card’.
Select ‘Android’ folder.
Click on ‘CLRCAD’ first. (note – nothing show up is normal)
Then click on ‘HARET’. (just click ‘Yes’ if unknown publisher warning prompt up)
First time Android loading will take around 1 – 2 minutes.
Follow phone onscreen instructions to setup.
That’s all.

It seems HSPL may be the problem in conjunction with spl3.03
Re-flash WM6.5 to get rid of HSPL
good luck
So i should ""reinstall" my rom and not install SPL or HSPL after that and leave it stock?

yes, you may want HSPL in the future, check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433.
Good luck and welcome to the forum
I reflashed the ROM, but the HSPL was still 3.03.. no change. So i installed SPL 2.08 the same way I installed HSPL 3.03 - with HSPL4.exe and now its SPL 2.08. But still the Android is sitting on that boot screen!
Can it be something with the kernel?

[Q] Flashing CWM via ROM Manager Edit: or cLK

Hello. The USB Connector from a friend is broken and not usable anymore. Now we want to try ICS on his mobile and therefore we need a bigger Recovery Layout.
Its not possible to flash CWM with the edited flash.cfg via USB. But it is possible to flash CWM via ROM Manager.
What i want to know now is, is it possible to set the size of the system and cache (like we can do it in flash.cfg on PC) with ROM Manager as well? And if yes, how?
Sent from my NexusHD2
im pretty sure not (never used it, but also never seen that mentioned as possible, and im sure such a feature would be well discussed), , also, rom manager doesn't work if you are using magldr.

You cannot do this with magldr, BUT YOU CAN WITH CLK!!!!!
cLK 1.5rc has the ability to flash via sd card, and was made by a user with a broken usb port on his hd2. CWM is bundled with clk, and you can repartition straight from the device. No PC required!
Theres some pros and cons to clk that you should be aware of. The biggest downside is clk only supports ppp data connections which are faster but less reliable (you may experience data drops). Reports show this isn't as bad in ICS as it was in GB. Also, please be aware when flashing ROMS, you will need to flash a clk-compatible kernel after flashing the ROM, or the ROM will not boot (most devs include a clk kernel link for their ROM's)
On the plus side, you can repartiton recovery straight from device, charge the phone while off, use ROM Manager, and the GUI looks a lot like the stock HBOOT on native Android HTC devices.
cLK 1.5 rc0
How to flash:
1.make sure you have hspl
2.rename the nbh file as LEOIMG.nbh and place in root of sdcard.
3.enter SPL by holding VOL DOWN key while powering/resting the phone.
4.Press power button to install the nbh and then take out the battery for a second and power the device up.
Thanks i will do this now. Wanted to test clk for a while. And I thought there might could be a config file for rom manager.
Doesnt sounds that bad
Sent from my NexusHD2
Hehe no it's not bad at all I think the pros outweigh the cons, add the fact that magldr is over a year old now with no updates and its kind of a no-brainer
Once you've flashed clk hold the back arrow key at boot to enter the UI.
Ok, i've copied the LEOIMG.nbh to the root of my sd-card, started into SPL. But now when i press the powerbutton nothing happens. Shouldnt there come an install statusbar?
If i take out the battery, powering it up and holding down the back button MAGLDR loads.
There is one file in the cLK 1.5-rc0 (LEOIMG.nbh) but 76 files in cLK 1.4.0.1?
Leave v1.4.0.1 alone, thats old, made by a different person and not flashable via sd card. v1.5 rc0 is the one you want.
You do mean HSPL and not SPL yes? It looks as though HSPL isn't noticing the leoimg.nbh file, or you're not entering update mode in HSPL. Keep holding vol down after SPL is booted, until you see 'loading...'
If this doesn't work, I'd try using a different sd card if you have one lying around (formatted to fat32), with nothing else on it but the nbh. I've heard unconfirmed reports leoimg is case sensitive, so you could try it in all lowercase if the above methods fail.
Let me know how you get on.
Doesnt work. I did try a different SD Card, formatted to Fat32. The only file on it is the leoimg.nbh.
When im holding down the VolDown button while starting it appears the 3Colored Screen (SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G etc, CotullaHSPL).
And there is no message with "loading" only a "Serial" appears.
I've read that there should come a grey screen which asks me if i want to install leoimg.nbh? But there is nothing...
I'm sorry you're having trouble. Flashing by sd card is a bit hit-and-miss, but afaik its your only solution. All I can say is keep trying! Keep holding down vol down after tri-colour screen, or try briefly letting go of vol down when hspl appears, then quickly press again. Try switching from uppercase to lowercase or vice versa. Hopefully you'll get there eventually.
Again, let me know how you get on.
Tried my 32gb sd card, tried my 16gb sd card. nothing worked.
Now i've tried my 8gb sd card from my 5800 nokia and for some reason it works...
I am now able to install leoimg.nbh. (it appears automaticly to install leoimg.nbh, after loading in HSPL with VolDown button)
And i dont know why?
I have to check the format of the 8gb sd card, although i've formatted the 16gb sd card (which was locked by WP7) with my nokia 5800 about an half an hour ago..
So the 16gb should have worked as well.. weird.
Any suggestions to the problem with the sd card?
Edit: Update success. Im hopefully now loading into cLK.
Edit2: I'm in. Now i have to figure out how to resize the Recovery layout (of CWM) to 220mb for installing ICS.
Edit3: That was just easy
Thank you very much, jwchips. Much appreciate it
Aaaah typical, it would be the one thing I didn't mention! There has been reported issues when using sd cards larger than 8GB (but I've managed to use 16GB cards before, which is why I didn't mention it). At least now you know what the problem was..
Glad it all worked out!
As always, yeah
Again, thanks.
4.0 ICS doesn't boot
Hey there
just installed successfully following ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354267
with CWM.
After seeing "Install from sdcard complete" I "reboot system now" and it starts booting like always "123456 GO GO GO" but than the black screen with the green HTC letters just stays....
Left it like that for approx. 30 mins before I started trying other roms, with the same result.
PLS HELP...
Which recovery size do you have? And which version do you want to flash, MAGLDR or cLK?
And you have to flash CWM with an edited flash.cfg.
For ICS and many other ROMS i am using following config (open up the flash.cfg file that comes with the CMW installer; do this with Notepad++):
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 220M
cache ya 5M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize

Need help urgently, HTC HD2 stuck wiped :(

Hey guys
So, I finally managed to get on my PC to try and install WP7, but I think I failed.
I'm going to list what I did below.
1. Booted phone into bootloader (has Android installed from previous owner)
2. Installed Activesync on PC
3. Went into HD2ToolKit, did a Task29, then flashed MAGLDR 1.13 (2.08 HSPL already installed)
4. In MAGLDR, I went to Services and did Last24NAND and Wipe Sd MBR
5. Went and selected USB Flasher
6. Opened DWI.exe from YukiBackToTheFuture folder, which flashed fine.
7. Went to boot into it, but it hangs at splash screen.
What can I do? I need help urgently, because I need this phone for tomorrow. I don't know how to reinstall Android, and I have no access to a PC until Saturday.
Helpful points:

Click on the guide in my Sig and red up on the old method of MAGLDR booting Clockwork Mod Recovery from SD card. Just go to the section on Clockwork Mod Recovery. You will also have to down load a .zip of a android ROM on to another SD card as WP7 formats your SD card with a RAID format so it will be usless until you do a low level format and then a fat 32 format. You can use another phone if someone will let you to download a Android ROM, use WiFi if possible so you do not eat up your friends data. Make sure you move the ROM to the root of the SD card, Leningrad it is not in a folder. Place the two files for Clockwork mode on the root of the SD card too. Boot your phone into MAGLDR by holding down the home button while you boot your HD2. When MAGLDR is booted up place the SD card in your HD2 and then select AD SD and it will boot Clockwork Mod Recovery. Then select install from SD card, select from SD card, and then find the ROM and select it. Let the ROM flash and then reboot your HD2 and it should boot into the Android ROM.

please explain what you mean? do you actually mean dead pixels, or a messed up part of teh bootloader text? (which can be a very bad sign)

LOL it's the dead pixels on the LCD that are right where the radio text happens to be -.-

Main reason I asked is because you can't see radio version in bootloader.

[Q] Problems to flash clK or magldr to HD2

Hello everybody,
I started a thread in the German handy-faq.de forum about flashing my htc hd2 (512LEO) with android.
While they can’t help me, a forum Member told me to ask the xda-Dev.
So here am i and i hope you can help me.
At first, please pardon my mistakes in the English language, it’s a long time ago since I learned it at school
Now my Problem:
My HTC HD2 was repaired by manufacture one year ago. The Smartphone got a new Motherboard with the actual Software (HTC ROM 3.14.407.2(04666) GER, Radio 2.15.50.14…)
The original ROM WM6.5 was/is running without faults.
After reading in many forums about changing the Software I tried to put Android on my HD2.
At first I “opened” the HD2 with HSPL4 and changed the SPL3.03 to HSPL2.08.
After this was successfully done also Task 29 “worked”… I tried to flash clK1.5…the PC said: “done” but after reboot the HD2 stopped with a white screen and green htc letters.
There was no hboot! From booting with pressed “Back” or “Home” Button the same: no menu.
I tried it again several times also with clK 1.4 and magldr (after Task29) the same problem.
Back to WM6.5 via SD Card was no Problem so the HD2 works fine at this time.
What can I do to get Android on my Handy?
Is it possible, that some HD2 didn’t work with clK or magldr?
Is something wrong in "my way" of flashing?
Many thanks
123kb
some older versions of task29 use a radio as the .nbh, so its possible you removed the required radio.
i would.....
forget about task29, its not necessary.
enter bootloader
confirm spl says 2.08.hspl and NOT 2.08.0000
flash 2.15.50 radio
back into bootloader
flash magldr (because it should come up automatically when the phone restarts, without requiring you to press anything, making it easier to tell its worked)
report back.
Thanks for your answer.
I did this yesterday, after installing magldr and auto boot the HD2 shows no Menu, only white screen and htc.
The HD2 shows 2.08 HSPL after booting with L- Button pressed so it shut be "open".
That´s the problem, i can´t get into the Loader Menu.
All the same clK or magldr.

only three reasons that magldr wouldnt show up...
1 - wrong radio - must be 2.xx.50 where xx is 07 or higher (2.15.50 keeps it simple)
2 - wrong hspl - must be 2.08.hspl
3 - faulty hardware.
...are you sure that there are only these 3 reasons?
Radio is 2.15.50.14,HSPL is right 2.08.HSPL and i can´t believe that the Hardware is faulty because Windows Mobile "Backflash" and the Phone is running without any fault.
I will download the Soft again (maybe i loaded "broken" Soft) and try to flash again (without task29 as you wrote)
I´ll be back in some minutes...
...soft download from xda...HSPL 2.08 installed,Radio from orig.ROM 2.15.50.14, with HD2 Toolkit 4.2.0.1 magldr installed...the same as I wrote...no Menu
any idea
Try a different version of MAGLDR/cLK. Your motherboard was replaced, and I have seen so many people with replaced motherboards having problems. It could be like what sam said, a hardware fault. (Technically for HTC, it isn't a hardware fault as long as it doesn't affect the phone's functionality under Windows Mobile)
there have been cases where winmo flashes and works fine, yet other things don't, perhaps magldr starts, but then always hangs at gogogo, or gives 1e fatal hit, , and the dreaded stuck radio has many variants, ranging from being fixable by flashing using the freezer trick, all the way through to nothing at all working ever, , so i could well believe there is a case where winmo would work but nothing else would.
why not try clk again? i believe there is a version of clk that can be flashed from sd card, , might take better than the usb version?
...I tried different Versions of magldr, clK 1.4 and clK1.5 allways the same Problem.
I can´t find clK Version to flash from SD. If you got it, send me a link and I try it.
it seems, that my HD2 only run WM6.5 and before "Murphy" comes and I flash my Phone in a "Paperweight" I stay on using WM6.5.
Thanks for the help.
Have a good time

Copy the .nbh file to a clean SD Card (make sure the SD Card is not too big - a less than 2GB card is sure shot), power up the phone with the vol down key pressed. All the best!
hello ph03n!x,
thanks for the link, I downloaded the file and put the leoimg.nbh to the same 2GB SD Card I used to flash back to WM6.5.
The Phone "said" succesfull done but after reboot, white screen and htc letters.
It will not run on my Phone...ok, back to WM65 again.
Thanks a lot,it was worth a try....I will try it again if there is any way...maybe in the future it is possible )
Hi,
if WinMob6.5 is runing, you can boot Android over WinMob... you only need a right partition on SD-card (see NativSD-thread see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31110691 ) , then install Android in the partition (rom-name must have NativeSD in thread-title like the pacman-rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32721010 ), boot WinMob and start Android via clrcad + haret (or with my "one-click-tool" see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33174747 ) ...
See the Wiki under WinMobile Installation
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD2/NativeSD
(great thanks to Szczepanik for the Wiki)... it looks complicated, but it's realy simple...
My pacman-rom runs great... (thanks XYLO)
Cheers

hello o82239,
I try to use your tip, unfortunately without any success,
after starting haret.exe and booting the HD2 shows 6 or 7 lines in very small letters and hang on this screen.

Hi,
I think, you should try it all again with a clean SD-card (you can clean all SD-card-partitions under Win7 with "diskpart" or under Linux with fdisk or other tools)... and post all your steps... we can take a look, if you have forgot one step or if you do something wrong...
Cheers

just follow the clk install you didn't add driver for your dev.So I think you just follow the step .1.task29 2.flash radio 3.flash clk 4.add driver then reboot with holding on your home button into recovery screen. And can you show us what your screen looks when you in HSPL sreen.

hello and thanks for your answers.
at first for o82239, I tried three different sd cards all are running perfect with WM6.5 (sandisk 32gb class 10, sandisk 8gb class 2,Medion 16gb class 4) formatet with "sdformater", and one partition FAT32 and the second EXT4 with mini tool partition wizard.
for wxl104 the problem is that i can´t get after point 3...clK is successfull installed, shows the pc but the HD2 shows after reboot white screen with green htc logo.
so the main question is:
why did the hd2 hang after rebooting on both "softwaresystems" (sd or nand installation)
i´m shure that i did both installs (many times) the way the "howto" is written or the install guide shows.

I can't be sure if you have done anything wrong.but just follow the right step, you can't go to CLK or MAGLDR menue. It mean you have done something wrong.you can install w6.5,so the phone driver is ok.But if you use the htc official rom.you can try to re-unclock your phone. And use hspl-2.08 .If also can't you drop your flashing tool, and redown it again. And then follow the right step, which you can serch it though this forum.
