That phone has some killer specs but being a flip phone just kills it. I can see it now......walk in a bar hit it off with a chick, you pull out your phone to get her number she just laughs and walks away. Smh

They know the target audience here in japan... Doing a head count of the people in the train car with me tonight, only 5 had non flip phones vs the 30 that did. Android is getting popular here (thanks to lady gaga and a few others ad campaigns). Even Yodobashi is full of cheap flip phones, but android is making some head way.

TBH, the guy needs to stop whining. They didn't like his design. Case closed. They made a mistake of running the poll but they ultimately have final say. And as someone who works in the design field, I don't even blame them. The website wasn't great. I would never approve that in any way; and even though CM is a pretty small community project, it deserves way better. Move on.

You're right, opinions are opinions. Ultimately in this occasion, their opinion was what mattered. Life isn't fair; they didn't like it, and like I said, he needs to just move on.
This guy acts as if he was entitled to something, like the design was god's gift to CM. It wasn't. And you're right that my experience in the field doesn't mean anything to anyone; but all I will say is that the guy made something that had some appealing qualities but that missed the mark. He didn't design for the project and instead made something that he thought looked good. That was my impression of the design. Opinions aside, he just needs to stop whining.
Personally I liked his design, but in the end the poll didn't really matter because Cyan and his team are going to go with what they want. It's there website, they pay for it so final decision is theres.

Has any other motorola phone run vanilla ui and been updated by google? From my past experiences with them, motorola being a company with a big, snobby ego and them acting like control freaks, I would guess they want to pull all the strings, despite what the customer wants.

The original Droid had mostly stock Android but Google didn't handle the updates. As far as I know, the N1 and Nexus S are the only commercial phones to get official updates from Google. Motorola did do an incredibly good job at keeping the original Droid up to date though.
Any chance on rooting that bad boy or is it booby trapped like the other Motorolas.
I liked it and so far I'm liking honeycomb! Although I'm suprised you can do a lot on the phone without leaving the homescreen, like....it its pretty heavy but feels really sturdy I don't like the wake/ sleep button. (on the back) as far as stock honeycomb...i think its stock but then again I've never used any other h honeycomb device.

Tablet, sorry I called the xoom a phone, another thing is use the xoom and then go over to the ipad, lol the xoom is bigger. I like it but its too expensive even at that hardware, my evo is a tablet minutes honeycomb

Sorry I'm at the DMV so I can't just make one big post lol. But the ipad in my opinion is still more responsive and performs actions a bit smoother, honeycomb had hella eyecandy tho while ios is really playing and boring! Give the xoom an update or two and I could see it totally increasing its performance. Oh yeah and the menu/back buttons are built into the os and are tiny and smushed in the b bottom corner.

But really, it looks awkward, and might 'potentially' have awkward use in landscape mode if you have small hands cuz the corners may not sit right.
Though I won't buy it, it gets +1 for the kickstand.

I like it. I don't think the angles are so sharp that it really looks that bad and like everyone said the specs are great. Ill keep my evo even if I do buy the photon just in case.

The specs seem great on paper, but they're easily matched or beaten by the EVO 3D.
It's running 2.2 as opposed to the EVO 3D's 2.3.3
Pentile display versus the 'true' Qhd resolution of the EVO 3D.
The Tegra 2 GPU really isn't all it's cracked up to be, the Adreno 220 easily matches and bests it in some ways.
Also the form factor, as you mentioned, is pretty bad imo.

S2 is a masterpiece. Perfect screen size, very handy, I forget it in my packet and sometimes I'm scared of dropping the phone while walking on street, because I cannot feel the weight. Not too bad screen resolution, rectangular shape (not round sides like s3), still a beast with its hardware. No reason to buy another phone.

One reason I love my SII (aside from the blistering 1.6ghz overclock speed and amazing camera) is this thing is BASICALLY indestructible. I can't count the number of times it's gone plummeting towards the concrete, no case ever,and it takes it like a champ every time. I've seen WAY too many shattered SIII screens in such a short time I can't be confident in it. It can't be that everyone is that horribly careless. also, the main draw of this year's phones are screen resolution and while VERY nice, I couldn't bring myself to make such an incremental step up
