Anyone here about sprint having this premier phone on July 6th? I don't want the 3d because i think its useless and i heard someone mention a new sprint phone releasing very soon.
Anybody got more input on this? i didn't hear a name or nothing on google
Its probably the Motorola photon. I read something saying it would becoming out in July. Google that phone and see what u find.

I'm surprised they didn't do the same on the bottom, and use the slogan, 'Motorola Photon, on the cutting edge of smart phones!' -pew pew-
But really, it looks awkward, and might 'potentially' have awkward use in landscape mode if you have small hands cuz the corners may not sit right.
Though I won't buy it, it gets +1 for the kickstand.

idk about you guys but i like it. i dont understand the edges but atleast its different. Different is always good
I like it. I don't think the angles are so sharp that it really looks that bad and like everyone said the specs are great. Ill keep my evo even if I do buy the photon just in case.

but the edges arent something that will keep my away from buying a phone. maybe it there to make it fit in your hand better, or maybe it is just some dumb design but won't know until i hold it in my hands.

The specs seem great on paper, but they're easily matched or beaten by the EVO 3D.
It's running 2.2 as opposed to the EVO 3D's 2.3.3
Pentile display versus the 'true' Qhd resolution of the EVO 3D.
The Tegra 2 GPU really isn't all it's cracked up to be, the Adreno 220 easily matches and bests it in some ways.
Also the form factor, as you mentioned, is pretty bad imo.

if thing pans out, judging by the amazing stats that I already see, it will probably have a killer resolution.
Probably as good as the retina or better.
This is a phone I will deff not be getting...unless of course they go all the way and it has a breand new OS that is the best of both Android OS and iOS
I wash I could find a rom or app like that but i cant so I dream of the impossible.

I think Miui rom is like that, but not on Galaxy S yet.
Yea it is very much like that. It sadly though just cant be put on a vibrant...I mean it hasn't been revamped for Vibrant as of yet and a Nexus One is to much for me to buy.

The target market does not want iOS. The iPhone 4 is a nice looking piece of hardware. There is a big difference.

Exactly! Was planning on switching to sprint in jan. This is just in time. Just what I wanted. I do not want a behemoth to carry arround. My nexus one with 3.7 screen is perfect size. All I missed was a slide out keyboard and front facing cam.
One other thing I like to consider though. Which will be more likely to have future OS versions ported? I dont bother on relying on sprint/samsung/htc for updates. I am asking about difficulty for devs. A big reason I was considering the epic is that the nexus s came out running the same platform, which made me think porting new OS releases would relatively easy. Is the shift likely to get new releases faster since it is an HTC product? I know it is impossible to know anything but what are your guy's thoughts on this right now?

Err, not sure if this is sarcasm, as beyond exaggeration it is false. You imply the shift has a slower CPU. Dont count mhz. The second gen snapdragon in the shift will certainly outperform the evo without question and with 45nm tech get better batt life to boot. I agree the Evo is not sluggish though. Which means the shift will be even better. Maybe you just need to ditch sense?
As for screen size that is not a downgrade. It is user preference. I like a nice compact device, not a brick.
Same thing with keyboard. I like getting real work done on my handset. KB is very effective.
If you already know this and were joking I apologize . If you were serious you should really rethink your position and recognize that different things suit different people (the CPU issue however is clear cut that the shift is superior).

Probably not. It is an industry first, but it's also pretty much just a gimmick, like 3D. I would have been much more interested in a dual core phone, or even an Evo with an updated processor.
I can see how it would be good for mulittasking...if it had the power of a dual core processor...but the specs are very underwhelming, and the battery life is going to be horrible.
Its not that bad a phone but sprint did themselves a great disservice by hyping it up so much. People where expecting something huge and instead got a phone.

Yes. Yes you are.
The issue is that it "may" be a good phone once some people get their hands on it and play with it.
But you cannot deny the overwhelming negative response (see their facebook page) as a pretty big sign that it may not be a good phone.
If you look at it from a sales/marketing POV they would much rather have a phone that everyone thinks looks really cool at a press release, but then falls a little short of expectation in the real world. At least they sell some phones, and the high initial praise helps sustain the life of the phone.
Now look at this situation, especially in this economy, 99% of the initial response is bordering "verbal lynch mob", even if it a good phone, how many people will actually give it a chance?
First impressions can kill...........
It's an interesting concept, I'll give them that, but it's made by Kyocera, looks like a brick and not a lot of developers will go out of their way to make use of both screens.

I've seen almost nothing on the phone, but I agree. The hype was the worst of it.
I recall saying something similar would be great. I dropped the thought when tablets came.
EDIT-saw the video. WTF? Now I know why people said brick. I no longer have any interest even in passing.
The biggest issue is that from what i understand, its a basic Android. Phone with a 2nd gen snap dragon running 2 screens. Won't that hurt performance?

Actually its the second gen check out engadget fire more proof...i don't feel like providing it.
. Under the hood there's a 1GHz second-gen Snapdragon running Android 2.2 -- we'll forgive the older software because Kyocera had to do extensive customization to add dual-screen support to seven core apps like the browser, email, and messaging.

Thread after thread by the most loyal sprint customers were talking about how there jumping ship and how there is no EVO 2, etc etc... Now all of these morons are about to jump back on board...

I'm pretty sure we're going to get all of that, but adding 3d is just something to help differentiate and spice up the EVO...I suppose.
I really don't see a practical use for it, but we never know. I remember when cameras were first introduced to' cell phones and a lot of people didn't see the practicality, but now look at how big they've become.
I'm sure we'll find something useful for 3d, assuming it works well.

I'm highly interested in the EVO 3D. It may or may not be a powerhouse specwise... but you know it has to be an upgrade over the current evo.
I just hope it's still a 4.3" screen with better quality hardware.

Yeah, it'll be cool cosmetics ....but not cool if it reduces battery life. Hopefully its a feature that can be turned on and off?

I'm highly interested in the EVO 3D. It may or may not be a powerhouse specwise... but you know it has to be an upgrade over the current evo.
I just hope it's still a 4.3" screen with better quality hardware.
**edit** Am I the only one who thinks it's silly to get so butthurt over people threatening to leave Sprint? I can't think of anything I care less about than what cellphone provider other people use.

I think it will be.. from what I seen (very little mind you) the 3D phones aren't like 3D when you go to the movies... It's definitely just a "wow that's cool" sorta thing.
If it is something that is forced on you without the ability to turn it off.. then it may not be as appealing to me at all.
Side note, I wonder how the devs are gonna tackle this technology once it gets rooted.
Cant wait to see this 2.5 hour presentation.... it better be great

Seems we have a New Playa in town... LG is set to release "HomeBoy" a Bluetooth Box for our devices...
It has NFC.. and you can output picture to your Big Screen and retain sound through your HomeBoy.. It's been tuned my Mark Levinson.. :good:
It looks pretty damn cool.. and apparently it sounds pretty damn nice.. This seems like a "Must Have" to me if the price is right...

Well you must do something about your Gpad, like sell it and go to something better You go these days from one forum to another saying how bad this tablet is for various reasons. I really respect your opinion but I think we must move on after one statement.

Ha, actually @RaiderWill is pretty funny. I been on the forums the past few days since I just ordered a Gpad again (sold mine in Nov). All I see is this dude dogging the 8.3 and praising the Samsung 8.4 which I just returned.
Dude seriously, if you dont like the device any longer get out

We are all too scared to take a chance on your gpad.
Between all the tears you have shed over the tablet and of course all the semen from your Sammy love fest, not only is your gpad likely to be very very sticky but some liquid may have entered it.
Sorry but it's too much of a gamble.
