I got the dock this afternoon and it worked great. After about an hour of use I got prompted for an update. I installed it, and the tablet rebooted. I went to move the cursor, only to see that it wasn't there. Disconnected and reconnected the tablet and got nothing. Rebooted, nothing.
I tried doing a factory reset, and went back to .9 (from .13). Still nothing.
If I connect the tablet to the dock and plug it into my computer, it's still getting recognized. So I know there is at least some form of communication going through it.
Is there any way to reset the dock or something? Can I tell if it's charging? With the dock plugged into the wall, and the tablet connected there's no lightening bolt in the battery icon (there is if I just plug it straight into the tablet). It also appears that the battery is still going down with it plugged into the dock and the dock plugged into the wall.
Anyone have some suggestions? I'm going on vacation next week and really want to take this with me
You tried everything but the most obvious. Try pressing the touchpad on/off button... 4th button along from the top left on the keyboard dock.

Guess I should have worded it better.
The dock doesn't connect to the tablet at all. There's no notification down by the clock. Hitting any button on the keyboard does absolutely nothing.
Also, I can confirm that it's not being charged. For the last hour, the tablet has been in the dock and plugged into the wall. The battery has only gone down.
What happens when you just plug the charger into the dock part, without the tablet connected? Does the little led near the adapter port come on at all?

I see nothing with it plugged into the wall or the computer
I just installed Prime 1.3 which has the optional dock firmware. From what I read, it's supposed to prompt me to install it when the tablet is docked. It doesn't...
Sounds like you have a bricked dock then if no power light at all. It happened to a few people after the update. They had to RMA theirs. If you want more details on that you'll have to use search.

Yea, awesome. Returning it through Amazon right now. Shame...definitely won't have one before I leave next week.
Navalhawkeye, I had similar issue after updating keyboard. Is there a question mark on battery icon?
When connected to the dock? No. It just shows the normal non-charging icon.
Sounds like yours is even worse than mine..
I can still use the keyboard and trackpad - it still charges my tablet when connected - but the dock battery itself refuses to charge now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080137
You'd THINK there'd be some sort of 'reset to factory' keypress on the dock - or some way to reset it and its FW, but I haven't found anything.
fu utility
after looking into the fu utility that located in /system/bin/fu, it seems that after the firmware update, there is a service that updates the keyboard if a certain condition is met.
The command to initiate such update is:
Code:
/system/bin/fu -c /system/etc/EC/FU.cfg -d /system/etc/EC/FU-d.cfg /system/etc/EC/TF101-EC-0209.rom
I'm not sure its possible to run this command in unrooted device, so you'll probably need root.
Can someone verify this?

Opened them both yesterday, updated firmware on both.

I had a question mark on battery icon and dock was not being recognized, did not work, but it did charge. How did you solve your issue? I had to send both, tablet and dock in. Got my tablet back today, but dock is still with Asus...

So replying to my own post....
I exchanged the keyboard at Bestbuy. The new one is also a B50 but the serial number is higher. This one does charge up to 100%. BUT touching any key will turn on the device (even when the new power saving option is checked) and it does drain the battery. With the combo off battery went down 6% in 4 hours.
Playing a 720p HD movie using MOBO player and lowest brightness takes about 20% of the battery every hour and it only uses power from the dock until it dies I think because tablet stayed at 100%.
I tested the combo for battery usage and here are the results:
Time Dock Battery Tablet Battery
5:00pm 56% 98%
Wifi Off, Screen Off
9:00pm 50% 98% (6% dock used in 4 hours of sleep)
Wifi On, Screen Off
11:00pm 46% 98% (4% dock used in 2 hours of sleep with WIFI on)
Wifi On, Screen On, Played 1.5 hour 720p HD movie using MOBOPlayer and went to bed and let it sleep 1min after inactivity (default)
9:00am 03% 93% (46% dock and 5% tablet used in 1.5hours of movie playing and 8.5 hours of sleep with with WIFI on)

Hey guys,
My Transformer took it's second "sleep of death" early Saturday and it is still in its "coma" state.
It won't turn on or respond to any buttons. Should I contact ASUS about this problem? Any tips on bringing it back to life?
Thanks
Don't have one, but everybody does the same: keep power pressed for several seconds, so the tablet will power off, then power it on again.
Check this forum and the development one, and you will see several threads for the SOD problem. You can turn it on again, but it seems that, right now, there is no failproof method for keeping the tablet to lock while in standby. Well, it seems it doesn't happen if you have the tablet plugged to the charger while in stand by.
Anyway, as I told you, check other posts to see what the people are trying / suffering.
Regards.
If you have it in the keyboard dock I would remove it. Then press the power button in for several seconds.
Did it do that overnight whilst docked? Mine did that There is a known issue with the dock discharging overnight when connected to the tablet. I think Asus are working on a firmware fix for that.

No I don't have the keyboard.
It has happened twice to me and it's always after charging the device (so far).
I woke it up earlier tonight. It charged fully on Saturday, and was completely dead today. This is probably not too good of an issue...

Good evening,
I finally got my Transformer this afternoon and I have been playing around all the time. I didn't connect the dock until a few minutes ago and as soon as I did, everything worked fine instantly. Then a firmware update popped up. I thought yeah, why not?
The update failed which I thought was due to a bad Wi-Fi connection. Anyhow, I thought it wasn't a serious issue and that I could retry the update. But I can't. My Transformer won't recognize the dock anymore
What shall I do?
EDIT: Issue is resolved, exact reason unknown. Just let the dock fully charge and connect it without Wi-Fi before doing the update.
It happened to me as well. As soon as I connected my eee pad to the dock it would prompt me to do an update which would fail and freeze the dock. The caps lock light would start blinking and the only way to unfreeze it was to let the battery drain. Unfortunately there is no fix for this issue and I end up sending the dock to ASUS for repair. If there is a chance for you to exchange it do so ASAP. Good luck.

Thank you for this information. What a shame. I have the exact same symptoms, especially the capslock blinking which I googled for before posting here.
It worked again before, even though the dock's battery wasn't empty. I will try it later again. If it doesn't work I'll contact Asus.
Early adopters have these issues. Well, as long as the tablet part works, I'll be okay.

I wonder if these dock firmware failures occur when the dock battery is too low?
Pretty sure my dock firmware update notification did not then trigger a download, I think this had already arrived with prior FOTA update, and the dock fimware update was triggered when first docked. I did charge the dock fully before docking the first time.

I was charging the dock for like 2 hours before I connected it. You think that wasn't enough? I'm going to charge it over night and then try again.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Well, I didn't want to wait and as soon as I got the green light on the dock for being fully charged, I disabled my tablet's Wi-Fi and reconnected both. Then I could use my keyboard and mouse, which were slightly laggy at that point.
After a few minutes I re-enabled Wi-Fi and let it download the firmware update and install it without any trouble. Now everything works very smooth. A happy ending after all; typing this using my Transfomer yay!
Can somebody confirm their MobileDock version for me because I've only had one update to 3.1 (Build Number 8.4.4.5; MobileDock EP101-0209) and apparently there are no new updates when I check, but when I updated it the tablet wasn't connected to the dock.
When you do an update, it also downloads the update for the dock even if it is not connected. The next time you connect the dock, it will prompt you that there is an update for the dock which you can install.
Edit: Issue is resolved. The battery had to completely drain and no longer charge the tablet, and then further drain so the white caps lock light would stop blinking. Once the white light stopped blinking, the tablet recognized it again, and the firmware update was available and worked successfully.
Hi,
Has anyone else had this happen lately and have a working fix?
I just did the most recent OTA update and then it prompted to do the mobile dock update. I accepted, but the wifi wasn't working properly and it stalled.
I went to re-connect to the internet and I wasn't thinking and unplugged the dock to get the on screen keyboard working again and when I reconnected it tried to update again. It came back saying Mobile Dock update Failed, and the keyboard hasn't worked since. The Caps Lock key is currently flashing.
The only thing that works is the dock will charge the tablet. I tried draining the dock battery just now and its as far as it will go, but it still won't recognize it when I connect it back. For now I'll try re-charging the dock, but I get no indiciation that the charging is working on the dock when I plug it in.
Is there a way to manually re-update the dock with the microSD card? I try to do the system update and it says there isn't anything to do. Does anyone think installing Prime would resolve this, and then I could go back to normal 3.2?
Edit: So I just left the dock "Charging" for awhile, and now it won't charge the tablet at all. This leads me to believe that the dock won't charge anymore. I can still charge the tablet via the dock when its connected to the AC outlet. The white light is still flashing...
Thanks!
Sorry for probably stupid question... but if I buy AT + dock... how do I start to charge it/use it to get max batt life, etc.
Should I connect them together and charge tablet through dock?
For how long? Can I play with it in the mean time?
Should I first charge tablet (how long?)? Than dock (how long)?
Once the tablet is charged... can I connect it to the dock that is not fully charged yet?
If tablet is full... dock ZERO... can I use keyboard... will tablet charge dock as well?
Please help as I do not wish to f... it up

I think your over thinking this just a bit. Connect the tab and doc, put the charger on the doc and let them both charge together. The dock dosent use power (to work) it only provieds extra power to the tab.

you couldn't be more wrong....
The dock charges on its own therefore it does use power "to work", without power it wouldn't work period...unless its made from some alien technology.
there is another thread discussing how quickly the dock battery drains, its supposedly a bug in the software.
Your best bet to optimize battery life is to disconnect the dock when not in use as it has a tendency to keep supplying power even when the tablet is fully charged, therefore it drains much quicker..

there's no reason to keep it connected to the charger if it's already fully charged.
See... my thinking was that the dock (connected to power supply) is next to my bed.
Once I need tablet and dock I got it next to me... And if I use tablet itself and want to put it away instead I would put it back on dock to recharge. Like my phone. This way I will never get to point that I need full batt in the morning in both devices and I do not have it.
My netbook works connected to cord 4days a week if I do not take it away... so I thought I could do similar with AT.

There's nothing wrong with that, it's just better for the battery to not leave it plugged in once its fully charged. Every now and then just unplug that charger and use it until it dies out.

lmao. oh really. If the dock is a %0 it will still continue to "work". Has nothing to do with alien technology. There might be a thread on how quick someone elses battery drains but on my TF dock it takes about 9 hours on hard use to drain it down. I would say that is right on with what Asus says it's supose to be.
Your best bet for optimum battery life is to you your tablet normaly and to not be anal. The tab has its own power supply and unless the charger is unpluged it wont use battery power.

The purpose of keeping the transformer connected to the charger would be the same as keeping your laptop connected even though it was full. If its not connected to a power source it will start to drain the battery. If you want to keep it full then you have to keep it connected. Realizing that you need to do the Asus recomended battery conditioning (complet drain and charge) a few time after you first get both devices.I leave mine on the charger moste of the time and take it off at least once a week to compleatly drain both the dock and the tab.

If I buy a set (tab + dock)... will I get 2 chargers? Is plug (not the one to electric socket) the same on them?
About 2 days ago I saw a set in the shop. It was brand new and not turned on.
I have asked if they can plug it since both dock and tablet were discharged.
Shop did this for me. They plugged dock in and (at least that is how I understand it) both things started to charge.
I turned on tablet to see how keyboard is performing.
And now this is strange - after about 1 min. of use (tried this few times) keyboard dock wasn't not longer working. I could see the cursor on the screen but it was not moving :-(. I had to disconnect the tab from the dock and reconnect it again. And it was working fine for another minute.
Two more questions:
1. When tab is on the dock is there a way to wake it up like Win laptop - through keyboard keys or only switch on the tab itself?
2. When dock functions froze I could not call for on screen keyboard :-( (although dock was not working). Is this OK?

Unfortunatly no they were dumb about that. Only the Tab itself comes with the charger and even that is wierd becouse the cord is extramly short.I dont know whatyou were going through but I have never had that happen to me. Could been a connection issue between the dock and the tab.
Im not sure but I keep a mouse plugged into my doc and when the screen goes of and I move the mouse the screen will come back on.
When the doc is connected and there is a place where you need to use a keyboard there will be a small keyboad on the bottom of your screen. If you touch that keyboard a menu comes up and you can select "use physical keyboard" (on & off). If you can't then I would say there is an issue.

I have to say I personally use my Htc Evo to thether and there is even an app that you can install on the tab that allows you to control tethering without having to go to your phone. I travel to Colorado-Tennessee-Texas-Florida and the tethering work great while on the road. So I have my Transformer put to sleep mode and plugged into the dock. However, I noticed that whenever I close the TF, the pad itself doesn't go to sleep. Instead, the TF turns back on and stays that way. This causes the dock's battery to drain really quickly. I've tried setting the Wifi disconnect policy to disconnect to the TF when the screen is off, as well as making it so that the screen does NOT stay on while charged. Does anyone else have this issue?

I'll have to check -- this certainly could be the cause of the heavy battery drain some people have reported. And I've noticed that my TF and dock have sometimes been warm when I pull them from the carrying case. AND every once in a while I'll notice that the TF screen has turned on while on the charger, and I know it was off when I put it down.

The transformer (and most Android devices) start up when you attach the charger. If you want it off you have to attach the charger 1st and then power it off.

User @Tera Tike found a magnet near the "+=" key on the keyboard. When a magnet in this position goes against the face of the tablet the tablet screen dims. I found, surprisingly, this ONLY works if the tablet is firmly docked.
If your tablet stays on then your tablet is not firmly docked. When un-docked the magnet has NO effect on putting the tablet to sleep when closed on dock. Check the tablet is docked firmly and the release switch is all the way to the right.
Good luck.
I have the same problem
Hello,
I have the same problem. I just flashed my tf101 yesterday with CM 9.1. Before the flash, when I closed the tablet down on the dock - ie, like you close a laptop - the screen would automatically go to sleep. When I opened it, it would automatically wake up. Now, when I close it, the screen stays on. If I turn it of with the button and then close it, it comes back on rather than staying off. It seemed to go to sleep after a minute (that's what I have it set to), but this morning, when I opened it, it was completely off - needing to reboot - and the battery was quite drained. Have you found any answers for this?
Thanks.
Hello !
When I shut the transformer off then close the keyboard like a laptop, it boot on again too !
I always thought that this was a normal behaviour but it's really stupid... it means that each time I left my tablet unused for a few days the battery will be totally empty...

For some reason my tab thinks that it is charging (i have a lightning bolt in the battery icon in the botton right hand corner, when i go into tab info it says "Charging AC", and when i bring it to the unlock screen it has the batter % and "charging" underneath it. However, i do not have the orange or white charging/ charged light on the power button.
Does anybody know why this is happening to my tablet and what i can do to correct it.
I have tried plugging it in and charging it, resetting to factory defaults etc but nothing helps.
Thanks,
Mike.
Wowzer !!!
if the system think that it's getting juice... you might be the owner of the tablet that never die and lasts forever... LOL
see the positive side to things
J/K ... someone will come along with help and answer
maybe you could try and re-flash it with the latest full rom ??
i wish it never did, however the battery % continues to reduce.
I am not yet rooted so I cannot reflash.
I have spent a couple hours talking to Acer today, they have told me to ring high level support haha.
Just my luck eh
Took the tab back to office depot and got a replacement no problem
Lost my screen protector though
Mine does this as well.
The icons are all indicative of charging and yet, it's not plugged in.
I thought the upgrade to 3.1 from 3.0.1 would fix that but it did not.
Mine no longer does this. I think it needed a full charge to "set" the battery or to calibrate the charge detection software.
I dunno, all I know is that after the tab finally got a full overnight charge while it was turned off - suddenly this issue is no longer.
Same goes for the touch screen not responding while the tab was plugged in. That issue is gone as well.
