According to this article (http://phandroid.com/2010/10/18/exclusive-first-android-gingerbread-details/) there is an early build of Gingebread in the wild. If this is true, I believe a leaked rom won't be long away.
That image could be anything, not a great article.
aww I was hoping for some serious overhaul of the UI but it looks to be essentially froyo. Loving the hardware acceleration bit though.

My toughts exactly. I bet this explains the rumors of Gingerbread not being the tablet optimized 3.0 OS version we were waiting for. It will be a cleaned up version of Froyo with hardware accerlation. Which sure isn't bad but I'm afraid a lot of users will end up being dissappointed.
Of course the picture can be fake but the source seems pretty solid.
Unless they fix some of the big issues in their current "features", they will have a max exodus to WP7
wow nice article the author is just taking wild pot shots to things that will be on gingerbread.

WP7 will be a damn train wreck. The Kin's production was haulted a month end because it sold only a few thousand devices. They should probably just call it what it really is, Windows Mobile 6.6
Enjoy your decade old technology with a mediocre gui slapped on top. It's the Microsoft way.
As for Gingerbread, I hope there are alot of behind-the-scene updates. Gui updates can wait if you're cranking things up under the hood like they did in Froyo.
I think that the article has some truth.
It mentions that the Android Green is going to be much more prominent throughout the OS which I think is correct. The new Market has much more green and in the latest Gmail app, when an email is deleted the undo bar that appears is the same green as the green used in the Market.
All this talk of there being a totally brand new UI (like WP7) is wrong. There is nothing wrong with the look of the homescreens so that it why the blurry image looks pretty similar to Froyo. The UI is going to be refreshed which means the UI is going to be consistent throughout the entire OS and apps created by Google.
From what I have seen, the new UI is going to be similar to the current Gallery app and the Android Green is going to be much more prominent throughout the OS. At I/O, a music app was shown which had the same UI as the Gallery app. The latest Car Home app also has the look of the current Gallery app.

Nothing wrong with this at all. I always wondered after Eclair why Google didn't make more of the OS elements look more like the genie widget or the gallery with the 3Dish grey look. Now if they can get a decent media player and have studios continue to give Android respect and porting good games to our OS I think I'll just keep my eye off that shiny new Dell Venue Pro

Check out that YouTube video, at about a minute into it, you can see the current music app but with a UI similar to the Gallery app.
I just wish they fix the damn stock dialer to dial by name. Dialer One works but is aggravating trying to bounce back and forth.
Honestly the only 2 things I replace right off the bat is the dialer and Launcher Pro. Everything else is stock... and its great.

Good looking out! That is some sexy software. If the rest of the OS is going to look like this in a few months I may cry from pure gingerbread induced joy!

He's hardly trolling. Google need to change more than just invisible behind-the-scenes stuff, although adding Flash support was a fairly big deal. Android needs better support for large screens, a much better media/music player (Gapless support is way overdue if nothing else).
I'm perfectly happy with my N1 with 2.2, but Android can't stay still, most of the changes since 1.5 have been background things, tweaking and quite incremental. Hopefully 3.0 has something really good in it to justify my waiting for a decent Android tablet.

That's what I'm sayin. We just need a good music player, like the one in the youtube link a few posts above, and more quality apps. I must admit I was pretty excited about WP7, but I'm in the air bc I'd be losing flash for a few months, as well as all the cool *cliche* customizations. If Gingerbread is as good as expected I'm saying.

if that is indeed the new ui, i can't help but feel a bit underwhelmed. i was expecting something a little more than better icons and an enhanced notification bar lol. can't wait to see this release though

Thank you for the support. I am glad not everybody just drinks the koolaid.
I would say the biggest task is to finally fix the really long list of bugs and annoyances in current version android/google apps. THEN they should tackle the GUI.

I am 100% with you on that.
I really like how MS thought outside the box for WP7/Zune.
New video posted on the notion ink wordpress blog site. I'm very interested in this device...
I dunno..but I really wish great android Icons like Paul O Brian, koush, Cyanogen are keeping an eye on this video or not..? because in the end, I would like a rooted Adam with customs Roms on it..
Custom roms would be great but don't you think that notionink has done a pretty awesome job customizing android already?

i agree. i would love the ability to flash custom roms but i am getting this tablet knowing that i will be happy with it out of the box they have put a lot of time into the ui and i'm anxious to use it. i believe we will be able to root and get a custom recovery on the adam unlike the archos tablets.
I hope, i can run Ubuntu on my Adam from SD Card or Usb pen.
And there's another video on blog maybe the last before CES.
I'm extremely disappointed that it's not possible to run normal android apps in leaves. Given that I expect at most 1 in 1000 android apps to be rewritten specifically for adam in the near to medium future, Eden is reduced from a fantastic UI paradigm to a neat toy.
As Rohan explained: it will be possible after the Honeycombe update which is expected in March

I am disappointed as well, but after further examination I realized that there isn't one application that I run on Android that Notion Ink hasn't already designed an alternative for. 30% of my activities are Pandora which is usually running in the background, I expect them to get a 1024 by 600 app out soon. 60% is consumed by web browsing, and finally the last 10% is games, which I plan to run at full screen on the Adam anyways. Hopefully this was just another miscommunication by Rohan and their will be a way to run them.
Yeah not being able to run android apps till honeycomb comes out kind it sucks but we will get tablet apps instead of phones apps. To me it's worth the wait. Can wait till I get mine in the mail

Kartiel, you can run Android apps, just not in a Leaf.
e.g. I would really like to be able to run Trillian in a Leaf.
Remember that we don't know what honeycomb will bring.
the only glimpse of it made it look like it had panels. The NI team may have created a very similar UI to what Google is putting out
Samsung is Introducing its TouchWiz 4.0 UI to Honeycomb, nothing Really Interesting you will think, but watch this:
2 Interesting Points here:
1:36 - Scrollable Settings Menu with more Toggles - Do Want.
3:00 - "Mini Apps" as Apps you can Toggle over any other App - This is actually a Cool step to Multi-Window Multitasking and i think its Extremely Useful
The rest of the Video is Garbage, but these two Things - I really hope our Modders will port this to our Xooms or it will be introduced as a Honeycomb 3.2 or later Feature.
What do you think?
€: Youtube Embed Why u no Work?
€²: Ha, working. But now i wonder if this is actually interesting

The mini apps does look cool but I have a feeling there will not be any widespread development support for it. We will have to wait and see.
They have some nice ideas in there but they really made the OS look "cartoonish". I wish they would leave the stock look and just add the extra features. That video was obviously sped up in some shots. The OS is fast but things like flash on a website don't play as smooth as the video showed. Overall the Galaxy guys are getting some features that may make us Xoom users a little jealous.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
touchwiz ux has already been ported to the iconia and the transformer....... maybe a xoom port is neccesary? Might have to giver a go and see if I can force it to play nice with our xoom's
Seems much smoother than the Xoom interface.... Samsung are really putting effort into UI development, I'll give em that!
the 'mini-apps' can be done kind of similarly using an app called Wave Launcher. But there are issues with having the 'gesture' from the bottom of the screen. When I had it installed on the xoom.. it effectively rendered the center bottom of the screen useless. The wave launcher was hogging that area looking for input to start the mini app launcher and so any app that have buttons in the center bottom (like MoboPlayer) wouldn't work very well or at all. The app (mobo) worked fine.. but any buttons in the center bottom wouldn't work (wanted to clarify) due to Wave Launcher 'covering' them up.
It took me awhile to figure out it was Wave Launcher doing it... I thought my xoom was broken.
Anyways, just an FYI.
im gonna try and bring tw ux to the xoom, is anybody interested if I post it up here when I'm done?

I may be up for testing this if you can get it to boot. Hardware is close enough to the other models that have it ported. Bluetooth and wifi may be an issue.

Figured wifi and Bluetooth would be a problem. So it boots? Is it smooth or running choppy and is sound working? I didn't expect it to on first boot.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
actually seems smoother than the xoom roms. I ported the full 10.1 rom. Sound works, though I'm on a wifi xoom, so I can't say anything about 3g operability. If and when I get wifi up I'll post it for people to try out.
OK, I will flash it as soon as you release it...
or you could share your work with the tiamat team, that would be even more awesome.
I'm on wifi only as well shoot me a link in a pm and I will take a stab at getting wifi going. Two heads are better than one lol.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
I am also interested in this as well and would be willing to test. I have a 3g Xoom but could really care less about the 3g radio since I don't use it; I use my Xoom WiFi only.
would definitely try it out!
however i think it would be interesting to have these extra features ported over the Tiamat Rom. are you able to remove these extra features and place them in an existing rom/stock?

haha, I know its been a while sorry guys..... with 3.2 coming out and other stuff in my real life I haven't had a ton of time to work on it. Still can't get wifi to work, and as an extra kick in the ass now the changes I made are causing a softbrick:-( but there are 2 other guys working on it too. And I'll have most of the day tomorrow to wrestle with this little bit*h and hopefully get her going. And crackmulah, that actually might be a good way if I can't get wifi to work that will be the way I go with it. I'm just trying for a "pure" port if possible

I was just being crotchety
I watched the other 2, as well. the 3D UI stuff wasn't at all what I was expecting, I like that you can accomplish it all with ADW Ex and that Live Wallpaper. All those transitions & different wallpapers aren't my thing, but very cool nonetheless
I hadnt really found an app that allowed really good touch control with the pen.
One of my favourite drawing & animation apps is now in Beta (free) for android tablets.
Its Called TVPaint.
You can get the beta here:

Worth a look in my humble opinion.
