does anyone have this new modem running on stock ec05 froyo. can you tell if call quality is better than stock ec05 modem? thank you
I re rooted my phone. And I use the ec05 stock doing this. I hd flashedthe modem before anything and it worked when I did quick txting.

I am using it on stock ec05. I can't really compare the two because I haven't focused on the call quality before. I guess it hasn't been a problem or I woulda have. I can say that it is loud and clear. Maybe it is just my imagination but it seemed a bit louder and clearer than I remember.

I noticed increased 3G data speeds on my end when I flashed EE03 modem. I didn't test voice.
Call Quality is the same (although speaker phone is crappy sounding), the only difference so far is 4G seems to be easier to get a hold of.
On Syndicate v1.1 w/ EE03 Modem.
might give it a shot. gingerbread is a bit too laggy for me

I just flashed the modem and kept my current rom setup. And yes....pda, I followed k0nanes flashing instructions from the Swiss cheese thread.
Idk about calls, but look at data speed on 3g, idk but I think this is amazing

Currently on midNIGHT 5.3 with the new modem installed over top following the instructions from Swiss Cheese. No problems, 3g seems to be a bit faster and I have been able to get a little wider range on 4g. I haven't run any tests, but app downloads from the market on 3g have been pretty impressive.
The EE03 Modem works great on Urban Fury / ACE 2.0 / Bonsai 4 and of course on most everyone's favorite SRF
I would avoid this modem. My 3G speeds with it were slower than ever!!! We're talking 79kbps! -_-

I'm getting over a Mb with it.
Using EE03 modem with SFR 1.1.0 (based on EC05 Froyo).
3G speed is much better than with EC05 modem and much more stable, too.
My 3G connection used to drop from time to time, but EE03 modem fixed that problem.

Mine were crap too. Of course I was using it with the new gingerbread leak, so the rom may have had a major part in that.
I had issues with the EE03 modem
when it woudl connec, 4G speed were great, and it got 4G signal where it didnt before, but 3G would drop in and out at random
I did use it with the new EE03 GB build, and that have been part of the problem

Running ACS SRF and flashed the EE03 modem last night. It seems to be working great so far. 4g, 3g, even GPS locks in about 3 seconds and shows accuracy to 1 meter. Very Happy.

I don't know about you guys but my messaging has been completely broken on the custom Eb13 roms. You know the usual. Not sending and whatnot.
Now hear me out...
I have flashed simply aosp and acs. Haven't tried bonsai Eb13 but i don't think i will. Now before i get flamed and Im told i didn't flash the right way i did. Flashed stock Eb13 through odin, then cwm 3.0.0.6, then after ext4 convert flash the Rom. Simple enough. Last night i decided to flash stock Eb13 deodexed. I converted to ext4 and Im using geno kernel 0.3a. Not only are my benchmark scores higher than any of the custom roms but.my sms has been working flawlessly. My gps for the.first time ever gets a lock within 5 seconds. Guaranteed. If you have problems with sms i suggest you do this. Btw with as much tweaking as acs has.done (or claim to have done) to stock why am i getting better benchmark results???

Sms works fine with supernova. I haven't messed with gps enough to know how accurate it is. But it does get a fairly quick lock.
I bet its the Carrier IQ stuff giving you some awesome scores to keep you on that rom so they can track you!
The only reason your texts would not be sending is update your prl. And those benchmarks are way higher than what I was getting on the same rom and kernel. But it is not higher than my 2443 quadrant frozen rom and kernel so check yourself. You had to have something weird happen like maybe your restored data or ti backup will screw up a good flash.

Also your prolly getting those benchmarks because the carrier iq stuff is still gone. I think just because you flash a different rom it doesn't come unless you odin. I might be wrong but that is the logical explanation in your event.
FROZEN EPIC
A user in another SMS related thread said that he has found his SMS acts up when he does a Level 2 memory clear under task manager, and SMS won't return to normal after a full reboot.
Do you do this? I know I do, especially if I'm about to run some benchmarks, and my SMS goes to crap shortly thereafter.
No no. I dont do back ups lol if i wanna back something up ill drag it off the sd card into my laptop. Being a pc technician for so many years has taught me that installing os should and always be done from scratch. That way you get a full fresh install without any "baggage" left behind. I always odin, convert, then flash. I never flash any custom rum over anothet. So... my conclusion is that eb13 made some changes to antennae sensitivity. Today it actually was flaky for a bit... but when on the custom roms it was pure ****e. And yes im not an idiot the first thing i do when i flash a rom is profile and prl update. Flashing these roms must **** something over in the stock modem. I also flashed my girlfriends epic to acs and simply aosp with the same results!!! Only on stock eb13 does the sms work well. Like i said it as *****y today for about 5 minutes... but on these roms it was a constant issue. I dont have an issue with it as the phone is actually performing better than on those roms. I would get fc's here and there but on stock deodexed+geno+ext4 the only app thats giving me crap is the xda app!!for the past few hours ive been getting force closes when trying to reply lol whatevs its working for now...

I was cool with EB13. I'm cooler with EC05.
I didn't quickly jump on it either. I'm waiting for confirmation that my favorite theme, the gb theme, is working well on the newest version of acs srf. Until then I'm sizing with eb13.

EB13 works pretty good. I do suggest, a minimum, that you flash the EC05 modem. My 3g works better, and 4g is way better... lower latency, faster wake up, and quicker connect.
Only reason I updated is for the developer support on ec05.
If you were just stock I wouldn't think there would be much of a reason unless you use your phone for a gps navigation system..
But because I run Syndicate Frozen I went for the 1.1 upgrade. Haven't regretted it. Faster, smoother, and same battery life as 1.02.

The kernel for eb13 also has bad code for the camera video and sports mode, and Ec05 doesn't have it, but then you could flash the twilight zone kernel to fix that.

It's because cell phone hackery has been around long enough to finally attract the 'old dog' demographic. Those people who never upgrade the OS their computer comes with, or still use Office 2000.
The idea that it works just fine by their standards tyvm, so why waste time getting something new if it isn't a huge change.
Mind you, that same old dog mentality means when a huge change comes along, they're just as crotchety and whine about why people are "fixing something that isn't broken".
Old coots. They eventually show up everywhere, hate change, and never seem to check into a nursing home fast enough.
I would upgrade. The gingerbread theme works just fine with the new srf 1.1.0 rom. plus until we have gingerbread all rom updates here will be ec05. Most of the upgrades are in the modem and camera anyways. I dont think they changed much if anything in the framework. I cooked up my own theme combining the gb and honeycomb theme with a couple new status bar icons but niether of those themes were updated for srf 1.1.0. Ive been running it since they released the rom with no problems.

I have actually been a bit slower on 4G. Use to get a solid 2 bars at the house and now barely get one, sometimes. Download rate one Speedtest.net dropped down to just around 6M from 7 Mb before the update.
I'm a radio noob...if I update my radios can I still flash back to my old backups? Can I also use CM7 as well?
your ROM and your Radios are two different things. you can use any ROM you want and your radios won't change, unless there's a ROM that flashes new Radios, too.
Anyhow, I flashed mine here at work and haven't had a chance to do much, but I am getting a full signal for a change, which is rare inside this building.
All is well for me. I am on CM7, so I updated the radio, flashed a Sense ROM (Sprint Lovers) updated Profile/PRL, and restored back to CM7.
Reception seems better, but it could be my imagination. I'll need more time to tell.

WOOT FRONT PAGE! http://www.xda-developers.com/android/samsung-galaxy-s-may-benefit-from-nexus-s-radio/
Alright, I just discovered something awesome.
So I found out that the Nexus S radios are indeed compatible with our device. I downloaded some of the hot radios for the Nexus S (KB3 and KF1) and opened them up and found that the Nexus S uses radios (similar to how the captivate uses modems). So I just renamed the radio.img from the Nexus S radios to modem.bin, placed it in an existing cm7 modem package and flashed it via CWM (ICS).
I reboot and get a constant 5 bars of signal. My signal hasn't dropped from this 5 bars of signal in the last 10 hours (usually it fluctuates from 5 to 3 bars). HSDPA speeds are pretty fast as well. I got speeds of 560 kb/s DL at 3 bars of signal and 140 kb/s Upload. I've never ever gotten that high speeds.
Moreover, the call quality is just amazing. When I used it, the quality is crisp and nice, almost perfect. It seems as if the voice is exemplified over the background crap so that you can actually hear the person. Idk, it was a magical experience for me .

The second row on that picture was the speeds I was getting with KF1 (Nexus S). Moreover, I noticed something interesting; that when I wasn't actually downloading or using data, the data indicator switched to "3G". However, when I started using my data, it automatically switched to "H". Something I thought was kinda cool.

Anyways, here are the download links for the modems (already packaged with the nexus s radios of course). Just flash in CWM with a CM7, MIUI, or ICS Rom and you should be good to go. IMPORTANT: DONT FLASH THIS WHILE PLUGGED IN. YOU WILL NOT GET SIGNAL
If having problems, try wiping cache before flashing the modem!

Modem's aren't gonna brick your phone, at worst you may lose signal. But they should all work fine!
however, there's no signal on my phone, running xxjvu
JVU + KF1
Extracted KF1 modem.bin + made custom zip (bmlwrite) and installed over Saurom JVU 2.3.6 using CWM. Better signal levels than original JVU modem ... with ODIN i can't install this modem directly in download mode
I am using i9000UGKG3, I've around 5mbps-10mbps up/down speed.
I am hoping this to have better signal over my current staying place.
But, it's not good.

There are a couple of things you can try for slow data speeds. A different radio/RIL pair may help, and you might also try the rcdata.img fix for TMO. First post in the Sensation radio/RIL thread has more info. I do not know if it is compatible with the MyTouch, we just figured it out for the Sensation. It is flashed through bootloader with a PG58IMG.zip file that contains a file named rcdata.img. There are two different versions, then you match a build.prop setting to it.

My speeds were around 4mbps when I first got '4G' but now I don't even get 1mbps. I think its stupid to be paying for something you dont get.

I'm getting an average of 900-1100 ping , 0.22 mbps Download and 1.21 Mbps upload. Currently in the Bronx NY by Westchester.
