New radios were definitely good for me. Stronger signal and finally 4G in my house.

is this for 2.15.00.05.02?
I got better speeds, got 1mb on 3g, never got that before, but it was Sunday night when I tested.
Sent from my Misfit Speedy Evo using the XDA app
no problems here. updated radios/pri on the 3rd and have been getting slightly better service where i live. I also noticed that i could pick up 4g in an area where i was unable before.
i'm running decks and mikG (going back and forth)
4g seems a little more flaky here at work with the new radio Getting 1 bar to no bars where I used to have a fairly solid 2 bars.
Works for.me
Works for me have not tested 4g as ill prolly never have it on the boonies of SC 3g seems faster

I have actually been a bit slower on 4G. Use to get a solid 2 bars at the house and now barely get one, sometimes. Download rate one Speedtest.net dropped down to just around 6M from 7 Mb before the update.
I'm a radio noob...if I update my radios can I still flash back to my old backups? Can I also use CM7 as well?
your ROM and your Radios are two different things. you can use any ROM you want and your radios won't change, unless there's a ROM that flashes new Radios, too.
Anyhow, I flashed mine here at work and haven't had a chance to do much, but I am getting a full signal for a change, which is rare inside this building.
All is well for me. I am on CM7, so I updated the radio, flashed a Sense ROM (Sprint Lovers) updated Profile/PRL, and restored back to CM7.
Reception seems better, but it could be my imagination. I'll need more time to tell.

Yes it is for radio 2.15.00.05.02
See my signature for which versions this has.
From my end all is well, my Evo seems to love the new radio and pri, slightly better signal and no wakelocks whatsoever, you can see my specs in my sig...
I never get anything over 1mb on 3G on cm7 (updated & tested). I just switched to the rooted ota just to run a 3G test and hit 2mb on 3G. I'm stoked because that means my 4G might be faster but I won't get my hopes up.

Hey all,
I have had a question for a while, and can't find anything via search.
Is there a hack to make the signal level/bar icon have 5 or 6 bars instead of 4?
It is more of a sense of mind, but when you get to -95db+, your bars go down to 1 or 0, and for me -- that tells me that im not able to make a call.
It would be nice to have a more accurate reading, so when I get to -95 I can have 2 bars or something of that nature.
I'm sure some others agree with me -- the EVO has it.
Thanks!
The evo only has 4 bars. I know that because I'm running the signal icons and status bar from the evo's dump.

Afraid not. It does have more bars (as of 2.2 anyway). Mind you they are just graphics...

What ROM would you want more bars on?
General forum? Isn't this considered development?
I am using the leaked 2.2 rom right now (not the 8/1/2010 one)
I wish there could be a simple patch for it, install any rom you want, then apply the patch and be good to go.
There's a 3rd party software out there, but it doesnt replace the original "graphic", it just sits on the top left...which is sort of lame.

I would LOVE to have that also, please share!
Its from the evo port rom from androidforums.com. Go to htc incredible, all things root, roms, and the evo port is in there. I'm using it currently and its working great.
That's the ticket!
I would love that on mine.

This is so not a general thread LOL....why it was moved is beyond me.
Methinks the mods might be confused on what is development and what is not.
Yeahh!!
That's what i'm looking for!! Perfect.
How is that rom? Stable?
EDIT: what is the official name for that rom? Looking for EVO ports, just see a thread with BETA application...
They are mixed throughout. Test 3 is on page...2?
Its stable. Has some Sprint crud in it that doesn't work, but its all in the wireless settings and general settings. If you can ignore that, it does well.
Got it...This is your rom, eh?
What is the easiest/best way to install it?
Would ROM manager be fine?
Yeah rom manager is fine.
Best to wipe, so backup first.

Android Forums isn't easily navigated, so here's the link, and here's a Multiupload link.
I wonder if there is a way to extract just that portion of the framework and turn it into a flashable update, versus using the entire ROM?
Perhaps. Its not just a graphic, but framework changes elsewhere too. I don't know for sure where.
If I'm not mistaken, our framework has the images already in it. So I think your'e right about it being something else calling those specific .png's...
I think I might just have to flash a Sense ROM to try it out. I don't get 3G in my apartment for some reason, but Clear's map shows it in full 4G. I don't know if I can go though with it though!

Sense Rom using LauncherPro as your home....what's the issue!?
Edit: <-- you can see my UI there!
Edit: Well, don't know what happened to that post, but Sense still clogs up the ROM, even without using Rosie.
I'd say just nand backup your current love (I'm assuming CM6)
Install a sense Rom for the day (week, whatev')
And on your way home (or just out of the city) Nand restore and you'll have the best of it all. Or you could just nand back up the sense Rom too and switch back and forth while you're there as your needs dictate!

Well I actually live there for the whole school year, so if 4G is as good as it seems then I may have a conflict.
For most things, I don't even notice a difference, here in Austin, TX. Yes, it's faster... Yes, app downloads are slightly faster, and web pages open maybe 2 seconds faster... but, it's not mind-blowing. The hassle of dealing with the 4G toggle switch, (to prevent battery drain,) is a pain...
I wish there was a 4G-toggle program that would use GPS, and check every 10-15 minutes, and turn it on accordingly... when you venture out of 4G coverage, just have it disable it until it finds you in a valid coverage area.
I had the same problem when Orlando went to 4G. I finally stopped at EViO with the KingxKernel BFS kernel, and I have to say that this thing is fast and snappy where I am completely happy with having this until CM6 supports 4G. If you find that 4G is a deal breaker, the best thing to do is to sit down and test out a bunch of different Sense ROMs with a few different Kernels and find out which is barable enough to switch it to a daily ROM.
Eh, I can't bring myself to go back to Fresh. It just wouldn't feel right. D:

I didn't personally like the nightlies or the RC, so I was able to switch just fine, and 4G had no impact as I don't get it.

Well, decided to give it a shot since I was having some issues with my school's WPA network on CyanogenMod. I was pleasantly surprised:

I am using it on stock ec05. I can't really compare the two because I haven't focused on the call quality before. I guess it hasn't been a problem or I woulda have. I can say that it is loud and clear. Maybe it is just my imagination but it seemed a bit louder and clearer than I remember.

I noticed increased 3G data speeds on my end when I flashed EE03 modem. I didn't test voice.
Call Quality is the same (although speaker phone is crappy sounding), the only difference so far is 4G seems to be easier to get a hold of.
On Syndicate v1.1 w/ EE03 Modem.

Currently on midNIGHT 5.3 with the new modem installed over top following the instructions from Swiss Cheese. No problems, 3g seems to be a bit faster and I have been able to get a little wider range on 4g. I haven't run any tests, but app downloads from the market on 3g have been pretty impressive.
The EE03 Modem works great on Urban Fury / ACE 2.0 / Bonsai 4 and of course on most everyone's favorite SRF
I would avoid this modem. My 3G speeds with it were slower than ever!!! We're talking 79kbps! -_-

I'm getting over a Mb with it.
Using EE03 modem with SFR 1.1.0 (based on EC05 Froyo).
3G speed is much better than with EC05 modem and much more stable, too.
My 3G connection used to drop from time to time, but EE03 modem fixed that problem.

Mine were crap too. Of course I was using it with the new gingerbread leak, so the rom may have had a major part in that.
I had issues with the EE03 modem
when it woudl connec, 4G speed were great, and it got 4G signal where it didnt before, but 3G would drop in and out at random
I did use it with the new EE03 GB build, and that have been part of the problem

A buddy of mine has the iPhone 4s - not making a thread of android vs apple - but we're both on AT&T and he is getting speeds of 6mb. Ran the test 10 times on both our phones and I can't touch 3mb. We're both running speedtest and I've tried different apns and keep getting the same speeds. We're both in same city same area.
Any explanations. Is there an APN the iPhone is using or the radio on it that is giving it better speeds?
I used following APNS: AT&T HSPA+ , AT&T US HSDPA, AT&T US.

What radio are you using? If its not N_01.77.30P or N_01.77.36P, you should run an update since AT&T capped the data speeds on older Atrix radios.

There are a couple of things you can try for slow data speeds. A different radio/RIL pair may help, and you might also try the rcdata.img fix for TMO. First post in the Sensation radio/RIL thread has more info. I do not know if it is compatible with the MyTouch, we just figured it out for the Sensation. It is flashed through bootloader with a PG58IMG.zip file that contains a file named rcdata.img. There are two different versions, then you match a build.prop setting to it.
check it out
My speeds were around 4mbps when I first got '4G' but now I don't even get 1mbps. I think its stupid to be paying for something you dont get.
