Sounds stopped every now and then? - Epic 4G General

My alerts and ringtones just randomly stop playing and it just vibrates. Any ideas?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

Need to know what ROM you're on.
I was on EE03 (Leaked rom) and it kept vibrating as if I was plugging in the USB every 2 minutes.

Same problem with mp3 and notification sounds, amazon player, pandora do not work as well.
Phone still rings.
the only way to fix is to reboot.
I'm full stock EC05 after OTA from EB13 OTA.
Extremely annoying because I cannot pinpoint the moment it happens.
Problem never happened on 2.1 and started after upgrading to EB13.

I have it happen to. I unmount and remount the sd card and it works fine.

I'll try that and will reply, but it's still a bug in my opinion.

It happens on my GF's phone. It will ring just fine then randomly only vibrate, then start ringing again. Even using built in ringtones from the phone. She is on Bonsai 3.0.1. I think it is the phone. I get cold sweats everytime I mess with her phone...she is so picky about where everything is.

I had this problem with my moment. The fix was to plug a jack into the headphone jack. Try it and see if it fixes the issue.

Toggle Speaker Phone Outgoing Calls

I've tried all the leading ROMS based on DK28 and all seem to have on re-occurring issue.
When I place a call about 75% of the time I have have no audio until I toggle the speaker phone. Usually I toggle back to the handset just in time to hear "hello... helllo?"
Am I alone on this? I've flashed back to stock using ODIN and then to a ROM, and every combination in between but nearly every ROM has this issue yet stock 2.1 does not. Thoughts?
Have you ever flashed cyan rom? I did and I have the same problem.. =(

I have not, I use MMS and the camera to much to use CM.
I have that issue also I think it's a bug ... Also the end call hangs hate that

It's a bug on dk28 there was a previous thread on this and a lot of people had it including mysel.
I have that bug too but 75% of the time sounds high to me. It happens to me around 30% of the time.
OKi doki, as long as I'm not alone.
If I just wait a sec, and let the call timer start before I put the phone to my head, it usually doesn't need the spkr toggle trick... I think its the prox sensor that is a lil finicky

I have this bug as well and it's atrocious when trying to stream audio via bluetooth, then I get a call, then try to resume bluetooth, or another call, or speaker phone.. i have to reboot the phone for it to return to normal.. otherwise I get so upset that I wanna smash my phone w/ a brick.
Two phones, two paths, fixed same way ... my wife and I have the same phone, I did the odin flash via download mode and the dk28 from sprints website. I updated hers via the "update.zip" found on the one click root and update thread. Her phone has this issue and no gps. My phone works fine, calls gps, BT audio and HF. Once I flased her phone, with the same file I did mine with, everything worked fine. Nothing fancy. Hope this helps.

Where do you find the dk28 from sprint's website ?
dk28 is a leak, therefore wouldn't be available via sprint's website AFAIK

How often is it rebooting?
Does it boot at all?
Can you reach desktop?
If not, have you flashed previously your rom?
Please supply more details.

Some times once in a day, and sometimes more than a week, basically it is rebooting when I am playing games for more than 10 minutes.
As a phone it is working fine. I am still not rooted.
Build version : FROYO.DDJP6
Firmware Version : 2.2
FYI - One more thing, I bought this mobile just 20 days back. Anyway thank you for quick reply.
Twenty days i would return under warranty for a fix ..
jje
Exchange it, if you have not done any changes to rom, as this firmware has no such bug, probably its a hardware issue.
Is your cell get heat up while playing?

yes, sometimes it heats gets heat while playing.. I am going to shop now, to replace it.
This seems to be some sort of ROM bug. Just reflash to Gingerbread, and be fine.
You can use my howto for that, for example:

I found the issue with Advanced Task Killer. I am using Android Booster. Now it is working fine.
This has happened to me twice in 4 weeks on jvk. Talking on phone then it quickly boots up. Faster than a normal off then power on though.
Also.
Maybe why the screen goes to sleep during a call...
If you set screen off to say 10 mins, when on a call the screen stays active for duration of call except when held to ear, then screen off sensor kicks in and its working normal. Seems screen off setting also switches off phone screen at set time instead of staying active.

flash zach's antlion kernel or tk4-glitch kernel. the 'twoface' kernel might be the problem
Mine also rebooted, but it was on 2.1. The problem was that there was a bug in samsung's code. When I tdisabled the power saving mode under Settings > Display. The phone stopped rebooting.
I have 2.2.1 now and power saving mode is enabled without any problems.

Disable Charging complete on galaxy

Can someone tell me how to disable the "charging complete" notification? I charge my phone by the bed and it wakes me up every night. I have a non-rooted phone.
Thanks!
I think the only way to do it without any modification is to put the phone in silent mode.

trying this app now. I will let you guys know how it goes!

You can also just delete the sound from system/media/sounds/blahblah (cant remember preciesly)
I have seen that too. But don't you have to be rooted to move system files?
it was
mv /system/media/audio/ui/TW_Battery_caution.ogg /system/media/audio/ui/TW_Battery_caution.ogg.bak
But i get an error that i dont have permissions.
I think you only have to switch off the system volume.

This app seems to be working so far. Can another non-root user test it also to confirm? I guess ill know for sure tonight when im sleeping.
root your phone...it`s a must if you want to enjoy it ...
I am thinking about it. Im just kinda scared since its my work phone.
JVH seems to have made this worse. Even on silent and no vibration, it will vibrate when charging is complete. Stupid!
Other stupidities: if th ephone is too warm, it will show a pop-up that charging is not possible. When that popup is dismissed, it immediately reappears.
And it seems the charging method is changed: I cannot use the phone as a music player in the car when it is connected to car power: a continuous clicking/scratching sound appears. Didn't have that on 2.2.1...
Whats JVH?

Try reflash? or (shameless plug) try my EC07
It's def not the SD card, I have a class TWO which doesn't skip. Are you using Music Player or Google Music?
it dosnt matter witch music app i use its whenever i turn the screen on and of it does it on pandora to.

Sounds like a memory issue. At least for turnimg the display back on. Does it sound like a respawn?

Mine has been doing this too. I don't even have to push any buttons sometimes. It's happened when all I do is move my phone. I know it's not my headphones 'cause it's done it without anything plugged in. I've tried the clean ROM and Nuckin's ROM
It seems to do that too when I touch the grip sensor......

im actually debating on going back to ec03 it seems like i didnt have near as many problems with it.

I'm not sure if this is related, but I've noticed sounds in general are messed up.....like when I plug the phone into a charger...the confirmation beep is almost never smooth and clean....there is static or distortion in the sound effect......my ringer too....really all the sound out of the speaker that I've listened to. It is minor but still annoying. I haven't used the MP3 playing function on this phone since reflashing recently.
but my sound issue has been around on all the EC07 flashes I've done

My sound for plugging in USB has been laggy since imnuts hacked kernel. But that has been the only buggy sound
Sent from my SCH-I400 using xda premium
I think I misunderstood what was meant by 'skipping'. My phone does something where it sounds almost like there is a short in the connection for a second. And before i switched to t1231's reclean, there were times where I'd have to reboot my phone to get my headphone jack to work at all.
Here is my question. And the point where i probably sound like an idiot. Could this have something to do with voodoo? I know the recovery kernel is no voodoo, but I wonder if there is some correlation. I really don't know enough about voodoo to call this anything more than an idea I'm throwing out to see if it sticks, but if anyone more knowledgeable than me wants to chime in on it...
okay its deffintly the grip sensor i just went back to imnuts stock ec03 rom and it does it when ever i touch the phone my question is, is there any way to completly disable it because i use my phone for music more than anything.
actually scratch that im an idiot lol you can turn of active grip sensor in the settings and now it dosnt do it near as bad.
I actually don't think it was the ROM that did it. I think it was the new hacked kernel imnuts put up. Before that kernel my phone never did this. And it skips even though my grip sensor is off
You know that kernal might be it none of this happened before but it shouldn't matter now after I went back to ec03
Sent from my SCH-I400 using XDA App
Even though I don't think all those who replied in this thread were describing or even experiencing the same sound issues, I have solved, it would seem, the problem I was having with some sounds sounding distorted, like when plugging my phone in to my computer.
I wiped the cache partition and dalvik cache trying to solve a different issue, and now my sounds are all clean and pure as they once were.
now its all sound videos will just freeze and stutter sometimes when i touch the sensor
okay so i was just curious i decided to go back to completly stock dl17 and unroot after everything got booted i tested the music and it dosnt freeze at all anymore only slightly skips when you turn the screen off but the grip sensor dosnt mess up at all. so tommorrow im going to reroot go back straight to ec07 and see what happens i know for a fact it didnt skip when i first tried ec03.
