I just received a replacement Epic from Asurion after I cracked the screen and reported it lost. The replacement Epic appears to be new but I want to be sure. How can I tell if there is any usage on it?

I know on the hero there was a menu you could go into to see the life values of the phone, how much data, how many minutes - it even had a spot for refurb date if it was refurbed. its one of the EPST menus.

Dude you can get broken screens fixed for free now at a sprint repair center. Call back the ins tell them you found your phone, send it back (if you can) and get your phone fixed for free!!
Hello all, I'm from over at the shift section lol and no I'm not trolling. I was wanting to see if ANYONE has an extra epic, or if anyone has an epic they don't want anymore. I'm trying to find one VERY reasonably priced. The condition doesn't matter as long as it works and the screen is better than decent. Someone please help me out here I'm dying to have that samoled and used my damn upgrade on the shift.

Sorry bub, I love my Samsung Epic. I am running it with Gingerbread. You know what the best thing is some dude is working on port HTC Sense to the Samsung Epic. Dude you are screwed. Try posting an ad on craigslist too, if you have not already done this. You might find some sucker who has the Samsung Epic with Enclair. You can probably tell them that your phone is better because it has a better operating system or some crap that that. Good luck they say a sucker is born every minute.

I think you should try BestBuy, they're giving out Epics for FREE w/ new contract/upgrade. Buying an unactivated used one can cost quite a bit still. Might as wel grab yourself a new one.

I got my epic before the nexus s 4g came out so I just looked up here one day and bam. There of was perfect directions on how to root and do everything. Everyone has been so helpful especially the ACS team. If you wanna know how to get a free nexus through sprint pm me and ill tell ya how I did it. PS. Hope you get gingerbread soon.

All I did was I called Sprint *****ed about the epic and said that I wanna get on a new phone the lady said that's OK and she gave me a few to choose from and the nexus s 4g was one. I am using it right now rooted and all ****s amazing.
That's what I did sorry I can't respond to all to everyone I did not exspect to get over 200 inbox messages. Hahahaha. I did have 3 people that it worked for already

Well I just tried and they told me I have to go to repair center to diagnose the phone. Now I'm not sure if I wanna go there because that means I'll have to put my phone back to stock but if this really works I'll definetely do it.

3. Brick your phone on purpose by erasing the bootloader

Just got shot down. Said I had I power button issue and ****ty service. They said I needed to have my epic replaced 3 times before I wo9uld qualify for a nexus. I'm pretty slick. I've gotten replacements for nothing before, and I didn't mention the nexus until she did. Instead, she made me a service ticket and told me to take it to a corperate service center, since I told her I had been told to call the hotline by a 3rd party store.
I guess ill try again another day.

Has anyone sent in their MT4G for warranty replacement due to the unresponsive keyboard issue (keys randomly not responding, lag while typing)? Also, is tmobile still sending out the MT4G as replacements or are they giving out the slide and sensation now? Thanks!

Did your replacement fix the issue? I've had 2 Mt4gs so far and both exhibited the same problem.
Yeah they are still sending out mt4g I recently got a replacement.

Tmo offered me a sensation as a warranty replacement... I took it but I hear now they're offering a mt4g or a sidekick... in which case I would just stick to the mt4g...

I've gotten one for failed emmc, hardware buttons wearing out on the next, so much dust I couldn't see half the **** on the screen, I cracked the screen on one and now I have one with the bad chip and screen. So that's what, 5? Haha

Yes. They go through the whole troubleshooting process with them... for me nothing they did helped. In which case, they start the process of a warranty exchange.

Warranty exchange doesn't count as an upgrade right?
Someone on I know has verizon and their phone messed up and they gave them a different phone but it was considered an upgrade.

Depends in whether or not they have this phone in stock. Sometimes, if you're lucky enough, you could get an upgrade...

No it's not an upgrade. When I got the mt4g replacement, it doesn't change anything, it's covered under them. When the guy offered me the sensation, I asked him: is this costing me more $?, does this affect my contract?, does this affect my upgrade date later in the year? Everything was a no. He said it would cost me $5, which it did. That's about it.

My bf & I are on the same plan, we both had mt4g... I called about mine & I was offered a sensation or another mt4g. I called for him about a week later & tmo was only offering a sidekick or a mt4g. (My bf thinks they only offered the sensation to me bc I'm a girl LOL), but the Rep said it all depends on what they have a lot of stock in.

I went about an hour ago and they said I'd have to go through two more replacements (cause I've already been through one) before I can get a "warranty exchange"
But off topic, they just tried to hire me cause I know so much about the phones and stuff and some guy wanted his iphone 4 on t-mobile but they didn't know what to do about it, so i jumped in the conversation and told him exactly what he needed to do.
Got to bring the wife's epic into Sprint for a hardware issue. It appears the phone speaker isn't working. Thought it was Cm7 issue but flashed back to stock EL30 (btw thanks to who ever got that for us) with modem still no sound at all. Copied all her data off onto the computer formated the card then copied some stuff back like her pictures and music. Hopefully they won't give me a hard time I am paying for the extended. I am kind of hoping they will offer a upgrade to the touch.
Any suggestions would be grateful.

Eh its hardware...besides their policy states they will flash it back to ensure its hardware...google it print it and take that with you.
Have to take mine in to fix the top screen..dropped it and its wiggly now going to take it in on CM9 and hope they like android 4.0

I doubt they'll upgrade you - my speaker broke and I had a tiny crack on the slider point and they made me pay for a referb even though I was 3 weeks away from an upgrade... so needless to say I didn't upgrade lol

If it is the loudspeaker they have the ability to replace it in store if they have the part. Should only take around an hour maybe more if they are super busy.

Nice thanks for the heads up.
Haven't used the insurance tep on this phone since I got it.(about 16months). I feel like I've wasted abunch a $$$. My phone has normal wear and tear. I want a new phone or else stop paying ins. I found a used epic in good shape for $125..

Our headset speaker broke. I bought another one on eBay, split the display, replaced the speaker and it still didn't work. Took it to sprint, paid $35 and they swapped the entire display /top slider. They said they don't split the display as the policy is to swap put the entire piece. Problems solved go us
Oh yeah, I also had no insurance and was well over a year onto ownership of the phone.

is it? i didnt read it in the known bug list. cm9 with cm9 kernel.

No that's only for custom kernels and happens when the rgb values in voodoo control are too high and your screen is too bright
