i received my s2 last week 2 days later 1 dead pixel in the corner so o2 sent me a replacement, and low and behold today theres a bright orange pixel smack bang in the middle of the screen, so now have to wait for another as o2 are oos, either im unlucky or the build quality is poor on the s2, maybe 3rd time lucky its a good job i luv it and ip5 isnt for sale yet

your simply very unlucky. Maybe, ask them to check it before they send it to you?
Was you born on Friday the 13th buddy?
Sorry, but this is not a dead pixel. At this format of the picture a dead pixel wouldn't even be visible. Either this is a fake or you are running an app which displays this dot.
Start the test mode with *#0*# make a new picture.

Is that a similar dot next to the date .
jje
No way is that a pixel, it's way too big. Either a whole cluster of pixels is somehow stuck or it's a physical mark on the screen. Have you tried running one of those pixel un-sticker apps?
well please tell me what it is then xdadroid88 why would i fake it i really do have better things to do i assure you

I don't know. But now the dot is much smaller than before...
Edit: but it is still too big for a single pixel

Hmmm I think you messed up the two country flags, no problem it's the same colors .
For your problem: orange pixel means dead blue subpixel. So in LCD test try blue screen. But first pic is way to big to be 1 subpixel.
The orange dot in question looks like a blob in the first picture because the picture is out of focus..

Good screen basically has 160 degree view angle. If you tilt your screen and notice any loss of colors, whites getting blown, or see blacks getting reflective you have a bad screen.
or if you are rooted, check if you have the LCD-SO-C2 display instead of the LCD-SH-C2

how do i do that?
Another couple ways are:
1. Put the WiFi calling shortcut on the desktop. Tilt the phone around and see if the you still discern the white lines in the blue logo. If they blend together (and the blue starts turning green) that's probably a bad display.
2. Open the market and pull up downloads. As you tilt the screen, look at the company names beneath the application names, as well as the lines that separate the applications. If the names disappear and the lines disappear (or go "negative"), then it's a bad display.
Of course, "bad" is relative, and if you think it's great then keep it and enjoy.
or if you are rooted, check if you have the LCD-SO-C2 display instead of the LCD-SH-C2
how do i check this? is there a app for this? seems like the easiest way

hold down volume down and power, then select system info
So i called tmobile for replacement bec of bad screen and they are sending me another phone. The most important part i noticed was that when the rep said "i wonder why this phone is having screen issues" so tmobil know about it. Just wanted to put this out there for other people know. I hope my new phone is good haha

I just want to know if anyone had notice this on bell atrix or at&t ..in dark when the phone button are lit up in the bottom corner of the lcd you can see a light leak !! You must try to see between the screen and the lcd...I did change mine 2 times because of this and i see 2 other with same problem

Can you take a picture and show us. I don't have an Atrix but I have used a friends in the dark and I didn't see and Light Leaking.
i noticed the same thing last night but its not that big of a deal because i can only see it when i look in the corner
yeh if u look down the LCD......but that does not affect the device and it seems a design flaw then then a faulty handset....
i took some pictures to prove its nothing

Not that bad but if its on every device its ridiculous for a 680$ cellphone! !! And some are worst than other . . . The one i got now you can see it only if you really want to. . . But it still there . I sugest you chek yours before getting stuck with a bad device

there is no wonder that they don't produce AMOLED TV's...
Who buy TV for two years of usage
Did you notice in GS2 they changed status icons color from white to gray?
I have used the Note for a few days, but it became obvious that the screen at the right side is a bit darker than the rest of the screen... (see attached picture) (its my own picture, no gradients in the original)
I went back to the store in Den Haag, Netherlands where I bought it, hoping to get an exchange, but no Now its in repair )
When the screen is at its brightest, it not really shows, but if its at half brightness its pretty obvious...
So, I am back to my iny tiny S2 again, fortunately I didn't sell it yet...

This is simply done in MSPaint. Ive taken a sample of colour from the left of the screen and the right of the screen and put them side by side to show even the hard of sight that the right side is definitely darker than the left.

I don't see anything.
We need a more standardized test though.
If you run the facebook applications, is the right side darker?
The blue banners, or the white background? Mine looks fine, and I keep my screen pretty dim to save battery.

Anything.
Good that yours is ok.
It is very possible. My S2 exhibits noticable brightness difference when brightness is set to too high and this difference is only detectable when viewing all white web pages. But for normal use, the lowest brightness settable is too high for me and hence I use app called "Screen Filter". I set it down to as much low as 20% during night or when bed lamp is on. The scariest part I saw one night is a faint unmistakable circle of around 1.5cm diameter only visible in white background while "screen filter" is dimming it further by 50% to 20%.
I tried to capture with my DSLR but couldn't get anything better than I've attached. To naked eye, this circle is distinctly visible. If you do not see circle in the attached image, please ignore coz I frankly couldn't capture better.
Hint: the circle is on the top left of the picture.
Hi guys,
I am new here, my name is marc and i was an apple fanboy not long ago.
I bought the new Pixel XL. I did not see that in the first week, but yesterday i found someting. I can't be the only one to have this little flaw.
I was in my bed checking some dark (dark i mean not terrorist and sh** lol dark gray dark) website with the brightness low and the night mode turned on. I saw two dark (black line on dark grey) line in the bottom of my phone. When i turn the light of the display a little bit on and they dissapear. They are not easy to catch in picture with my camera because we can see it only with no brightness in the display. I googled it and i found some lookalike issue called mura effect. (Problem of fabrication of amoled screen when low voltage dont turn on pixels.)
I wanna now should i get worried, i saw that many amoled displays have this flaw that is innerant because of the fabric technique? Do those line will grow up with time? Am i the only one with pixel that have this problem, maybe you just didint see it and now you will pay attention (mouahahah ocd spoiler alert)? Is there a fix for this problem?
Keep me posted if you have the same issue with the pixel or other amoled phone as i dont want to be alone in this dark darker screen lol

Dang man! You are indeed a jerk! Haha, no I'm serious. I just checked it out and I get the same thing. Sometimes the lines if you look hard enough they'll flicker too. Not cool man. Now I feel as if something is wrong with the screen. The colors already drive me a little nuts as they're a bit oversaturated compared to lcd and retina displays. Now I'm gonna look for these lines all the time. Thanks bro

Sounds good. Looks like I just need to be persistent and adamant toward the fact that it is a 1k phone and this issue is, or at the very least, appearsrs to be hardware related. I too plan to keep the device for at least 2 years and if the hardware is already suffering a defect than I could only imagine how bad it will get from repetitive use. Thanks again. I'll keep you posted and let you know what they say when I speak to them again.

I find the lowest to still be too bright on most phones, the pixel xl included. I use an app called iris mini. There's a free version. It greatly lowers the brightness and red shifts the screen and in the week I've had the phone, I haven't noticed this issue of the mura effect. Give that app a shot next time you read in the dark. It might help.
