Nandroid Backup for 351 ROM - Streak 5 General

Hi, everyone.
Is there a recovery mod with a 100% working Nandroid backup for the stock 351 ROM? I tried StreakMod Recovery, but it keeps getting stuck at the "Firstboot" stage.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know of anyone who has one, but I expect that in short order you're going to get a slew of posts from posters rubbing it in your face that they got Streakmod to work without a problem.

Wow, butthurt or what? You have the right to say it didnt work for you but I can't say I had no problems? Not sure how that is rubbing it in your face either.

i also got stuck at first boot stage but i just let it go went to eat and when i came back it was on the streak mod recovery screen and now when i go to nandroid it has a restore option so im guessing it worked.....

How long did it take? Mines was stuck at Firstboot for about 30 mins., then I gave up on it. I might try again later.

It takes 3 to 5 minutes.

Successful Nandroid Backup
I was reading through new posts JUST as I was performing a Nandroid backup with a 351 BB I flashed over a few days ago, went off without a hitch and yeah, about 5 minutes is what the whole process takes.

rogers dell streak running stock 02 2.1

ok guys i have completed this for all you rogers customers
this was completed on a rogers locked streak
these are the steps i took
i rooted mine using universal androot (real easy !)
installed fastboot drivers
nandroided using clockwork recovery (the one that worked for me was 1.8.1.7)
then i flashed back to stock recovery
then flashed 02 1.6 (build 4399)
then flashed 02 2.1 (build 8105)
restored apn setting
now im just gonna see if i should do the hyde's 2.2 but from what ive read apps go missing in market so im gonna have to ask around
but yea for all you rogers heads it has been done !!!!
Good job, That's the exact way that I did it. It only took 10 hours or so to finally figure it all out. The one good thing about it is, it was good learning. I came from using HTC phones, they are super easy to flash ROMS with. This streak is a little harder, at least having flash over so many times.
yea i came from a g1 so i know the deal
I sent you a PM asking if you have your nandroid backup handy. If you do can you mirror it somewhere to help me out? I can't find the Rogers build 7921 anywhere to download.
can you make into a update.pkg ?

I actually don't know, but for backup reasons (warranty) it would be nice to have. I can look into making it a pkg for flashing without clockworkmod. Thanks

Hello guys, I am a newbe and was wondering if one of you gurus can tell me step by step how to do this. I get the Nandroid part, I get lost on the "flashing" stock official Dell ROM, and the other builds. I dont know where to get these or how to do it.
Thanks for your help.

Hey there! I'm so close I can taste Froyo.... but:
Would love the help of some of the more experienced here. I'm at at dead end.
Goal is to get to Custom 1.4.6 Froyo ROM. Currently I get stuck on a blank screen after trying a O2 1.6 (4399) update from a restored stock recovery. I can restore my nandroid 7921 backup but it come up with a number of errors so not feeling to solid about that. Also says baseband unknown (see below).
What I have done so far:
ii. Rooted with Universal Root (I think - rooted for sure, not sure exactly if it was UR or another, but it said it worked(after 2 trys))
1. Setup Fastboot mode with no problems (no driver problems just worked)
2. Installed clockwork recovery v1.8.1.7
2b. Backed up using nandroid
3. Used fastboot to apply dsp1.bin (720p video) and amss.bin (baseband?) updates for 1.4.6
4. Flashed DJS Froyo 1.4.6
Result was installed fine but on attempted boot the classic stuck at Dell logo. Pretty sure I left it long enough (about 15 min or so). No luck.
5. Restored 7921 backup. Worked but LEDs were flashing (baseband miss match?) and received a 'battery error' (battery charging disabled).
Then saw this thread realized the path to take = Rogers 1.6 -> O2 1.6 -> O2 2.1 -> DJS Froyo 1.4.6 so have set off on that path.
6. Installed Stock Recovery with Fastboot
7. Attempted to flash O2 1.6 (4399). result was a blank screen for a long time (left about 15 minutes)
Soooooo....
Just to prove to myself I wasn't screwed I have since fastboot installed clockwork recovery and restored 7921 nandoid back-up. Only problem seems to be an error stating "sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext." It boots now but has that battery error still about not charging.
What I believe I should be doing (goal is still to get to DJS 1.4.6) is:
1. Restore recovery to stock recovery and flashing O2 1.6 (4933)
2. Flash O2 2.1 (8105)
3. Fastboot the recover to clockworks
4. Flash to DJS 1.4.6
But not sure how to get past my blank screen after restore of stock recovery and attempted flashing of o2 1.6 (4933). Have tried 2 different stock recovery images and 2 different o2 1.6 (4933) pkg files.
Would appreciate anyone who can show me the error(s) of my ways.
Thanks so much.
Cheers.

yep you should of flashed 02 1.6 first then 02 2.1 then upgraded to 1.4.6
if you can still get to recovery then you should be able to get things running again
my advice would be to try to get your baseband back to normal , not exactly sure how maybe you could find an alternate , also i think that you sd-ext could be solved by re mounting it in clockwork recovery ,ill do what i can to help you , baseband flashing is new to me

Just a note of hope. I had something similar happen on a new stock att 1.6 after installing Nero backup. I was transferring from my RMA'd streak (1.6) and after restoring the backup it went into a boot loop that could not be cleared by battery removal. It would boot as far as the chromatic Dell splash and then black out and restart. I went to bed with it plugged in and recycling... In the am it was OK. It now has 2.2 and DJSteves 1.5.3 ROM w/ no other troubles. I don't believe in magic, but I don't know how it healed either... I'm sure that I saw it loop at least 25 times before I closed my eyes.
Good Luck.

calm down take a breather us XDA users got your back, OK take out the battery and put it back in then go to the Hboot ( hold power and volume down) then once you get to the Hboot Settings use volume down to get to RECOVERY (i think its the third one) then once you get into Clockwork Recovery scroll down to (Backup and Restore) click then press (Restore) and then choose your Restore file it usually Year-month-day hope i helped you donate pls if i did
BE SURE TO KEEP THE CHARGER IN!!
p.s. if it turns off while its restoring even with the charger in let it boot into recovery mode and let it charge up a bit
incase you still need help gtalk me [email protected]
and p.s. CWM 3.0.0.5 is for gingerbread only
Certain roms require certain versions of clockworkmod. I don't know if this also applies to restoring from backups, though. Which type of rom did you flash?
If he flashed the add on 3.0.0.5 has ext3/ext4 support. Should be able to flash froyo and TB Rome.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
3.0.0.6 supports ext3/ex4 3.0.0.5 only does Gingerbread
Edit: I'm being a dumbass yea what he said was right I'm overly tired and I have to explain to her why I was being a dumbass and trying to flash through fastboot but what I don't understand is why its still stuck at the boot screen

Three options
Option one: (easiest)
Since you flashed 3.0.0.5 you must flash a Gingerbread ROM, (Which you can download from here ). Make sure to flash the G/apps after you flash the ROM.
Option two:
you can flash a 2.x.x.x Recovery image, or flash 3.0.0.6 via script or manually do it via the HBoot.
Option three:
Flash the PD15IMG and start over from ground one.
thank you so much for the advice and help. i could bang my head on the wall for trying to load gorillasens. i shouldve left it alone. once i get home from work i will give it a try again.

Ah. i think i see what happened. You rooted your phone. downloaded Clockwork Rom Manager, then flashed a recovery image (which was version 3.x). then tried to flash a 2.2 ROM.
Okay. so what.....
a common mistake but one that can be avoided by doing a little research.
Clockwork's 3.0.0.5 recovery image is only compatible with Gingerbread (2.3) based ROMs.
Clockwork's 2.x recovery image are only compatible with FroYo (2.2) based ROMs.
gorilla is 2.2 So it's not cannot be flashed by the recovery image you are using.
if that is correct then the text in the recovery image should be orange in color. If that is correct.....If i were in your shoes i'd load CM7 w/ the GAPPS > download CWRM from the markert > scroll to the bottom (all clockwork recoveries) and flash the newest 2.x. then boot into recovery / make sure the text is GREEN, not ORANGE, wipe then flash your GorillaSense.
Can you cite a source, because I've also heard people claim that Clockwork 3 is backwards compatible, but there was no evidence either way...?
How would you go about switching from a 2.2 ROM to a 2.3 ROM? Do you have to backup with CWM 2, then install CWM 3 to install the new ROM? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me...?

3.0.0.5 is not backwards compatible, which is the official 3.x that you download via the Application. 3.0.0.6 which is "beta" flashed via the HBoot is backwards compatible.
It's seriously jacked if you ask me.
to go from lets say CM6 > CM7 one would do a nandroid backup of CM6, then go to CWRM flash the 3.0.0.5 recovery image > boot into recovery and flash the CM7.
now to get back to a 2.2 ROM you have to scroll to the bottom of CWRM app's and flash a 2.x version of the recovery then do your nandroid restore, flash the 2.2 recovery image.
From what i've heard once 3.0.0.6 is finished you can use that for everything.
What a pain...
I'm real sketchy about the Clockwork 3 recoveries for the Nexus, because they've been screwing up partitions (mine included). Has there been any problems with Clockwork 3 on the Glacier?

I haven't had any problems with mine. The only problem that was noted was the 3.0.0.5 prior to the official release wouldn't do Nandroid Backups directly from the application. Some were reporting it work work from the recovery image, but mine never did.
and i have a feeling the reason it's screwing with Partitions is this (CM7/CW3.x) is a Ext4 set up. And CM6/CW2.x is a Ext3 set up.
but since it went official the only problem i've seen is people flashing the the wrong recovery for the wrong ROM. People are flashing 3.x because 3 is higher than 2 so they think it's an upgrade and have no clue on the who/what/when/wheres and whys of what its for.
The partition thing is different for the Nexus, because they are cross compatible to a certain degree. I rolled back to CWM 2, but I can still flash CM7 no probs...
It's interesting to note the differences between the two platforms though (Nexus vs Glacier).

Yea between Google's way of doing thing and HTC, but i'm sure the chip-set has something to do with that. and with the sexy nexi only having 512Mb of memory the factor of tricking the phone to use the SD card has something to do with it i'm sure.
i have the 3.x recovery and i can flash iceglacier which is a 2.2 rom with out any issues. what i can't do is restore my backup from my other phone onto this replacement i just got. i made the backup with the 3.x recovery but i just keep getting stuck at the mytouch bootup screen... gonna try flashing the 2.x recovery and see if it lets me do the restore.
hey there everyone. just giving an update.......phone is still messed up. we tried putting gingerbread on and no go....tried flashing to PD15IMG and starting over. no go, it kept saying that "main version older <bad>" the phone wont go past the htc screen. im going on day 3 and no phone. *sigh* open for more advice. should i just buy another phone?

Cant get ROM manager to do anything...

wont back up anything, wont boot in to recovery, when I turn the phone off and boot in to recovery I get dells program... I wan to install 1.0.9 but when I go to update from sd, the screen comes up and says it will flash a recovery rom..
why you trying to use rom manager?
just put the update.zip in root of sdcard, flash custom recovery (most likely already have one if your on streak droid) and flash the new from the custom recovery.

nothing works, I'm trying to make a back up...
I don't know how to add the streak recovery program,
when I had this issue with the HTC inspire, it was because fastboot was on, but I dont see a fast boot option on dell streak...
Does rom manager work with the streak? Never heard it mentioned in the streak section.
Posted with StreakZilla, using XDA App.
I would think...
I just found the DELL PDF, im going to read through it, to install clockwork recovery on my phone since rom manager cant or wont do it... I'm thinking my inspire was much more user friendly, that's a -1 for my new streak to more - and craiglist or ebay it will go! lol
Maybe a bit late, but ROM Manager does not work for the Dell streak.
Thremix, if you haven't already sold your streak:
You can do everything you can through recovery without using rom manager. It's not difficult, it's just another way, and as with anything new, takes some time, that's all.
NO I just got the phone today, I read the PDF and went in to fastboot, ran the command to install clockwork and then I boot in to recovery, but nothing, just dell stock....
Now I'm getting frustrated... If I can just get streakmod or clockwork on here I would be a happy guy lol for now, this phone cant hold a candle to the speed of the inspire, from what I have seen on youtube 1.0.9 flys! I want that rom...
OK I got it, I am doing a nandroid backup.... it's taking some time... more time than I like.. it also keeps blinking? how long does it take?
OK phone looks like it is stuck, I'm not sure what to do.... but it's been about 15 minutes now. and the phone is new, so it's not like it has a lot to backup....
OH, and clockwork is upside down lol..
Nandroid should not take more than 5 minutes.

Stuck in boot loop

Well, I got the thrive around late October.
Immediately rooted it, put some sort of cwm on it, did nandroid backups. Froze some apps. Everything has been working great.
Yesterday I was using dolphin HD on a website with flash. That's the last thing I did, when the whole thing just shut off immediately. The battery had at least 1/4 left.
Tried to reboot, it displayed the splash animation, spends a while, reboots, then again. It is stuck in a loop. I thought battery is low. Charged. Same thing.
No problem, I thought, ill restore a nandroid backup. Booted into cwm recovery, restored successfully one of my backups, but after rebooting, the same thing is happening.
What is going on?
I really want this thing back.
Thank you!

If you have CWM still loaded (and I see you do), then go get my HTK55D.31.5.0002 OOM Rooted ROM. It will wipe your device and reflash it. That should correct the issue you are having. Once it is up and running, you should be able to restore your nandroid and be OK.
thank you, Dale. I was already downloading the rom from the other forum when I noticed you are the same guy.
do I need to wipe anything in CWM first?
No, the ROM will do the wipe for you. Just go into ClockWorkMod and install.
Did it. Besides apps that i had frozen or uninstalled, everything looks the same. I still have my apps and settings. ! Don't understand how, but its great
I remember now that I had overclocked. Can't remember how. But it had worked fine for month and a half. Used setcpu to 1.25g or 1.5. Can't remember.
After your update, setcpu sees the Max as 1000mhz. Which is fine. I am so excited about having the thrive back.
Thank u so much!
