Hello everybody
I received an unlock code from T-mobile for my Vibrant, but it gives me an "unlock unsuccessful" message. I called T-mobile, and they essentially told me "it should work, sorry." I was wondering if the problem might have something to do with the fact that my phone is rooted...
And if that is an issue, can I use the nandroid method to unroot it? Odin doesn't seem to work for me; it always stops at "file analysis." I've heard that other people using Windows x64 have the same issue.
Look at the IMEI in the e-mail they sent you. Make sure they copied right. It will be on the top left 3rd line down.
Yeah, the IMEI is right. Also, I've heard that it's possible for these phones to be hardlocked... is there a chance that the seller accidentally hardlocked it before sending it to me?
I don't think so. T-Mobile would be the one doing the hard-locking.
Is there any other way for me to unlock the phone?
I was rooted when I requested the unlock code from tmo - it worked as expected
You didn't get your phone directly from tmo?

I have to wait a month until i can get mine unlocked.
I recent;y had another phone unlocked from them.
I didn't buy it from tmo, but I don't see why that would make a difference... they still gave me the unlock code based on the IMEI I gave them. They say they can't give me another unlock code, and I'm currently 7000 miles from the nearest T-mobile store (that was their "solution" - go to the store). Any idea whether it'd be worth it to try sinking $30 into one of the eBay unlockers?
I have the same problem with my vibrant. i purchased an unlock code from ebay with 100% success rate but when I entered the code: "network lock request unsuccessful"
I have the same problem with my vibrant. i purchased an unlock code from ebay with 100% success rate but when I entered the code it says "Network Lock Request Unsuccessful". Apparently the only way around this is to remove the Network Lock all together. Removing the network lock is done through unlocking software but unfortunately there is no software compatible with the Vibrant as of yet. Getting another code will not work either as your IMEI will give you the same code again. i just purchased an I-Smart SIM card, hopefully this will work. I will keep you posted
Don't buy from ebay EVER!!
Unlock codes are free from TMO
The sent me my unlock code 3 days after I bought it. It didn't work at first. I called TMO apparently my IMEI was truncated. they sent new unlock code and it worked perfectly.
Remember if you put your unlock code in to many times unsuccessfully, there is nothing TMO can do to get it unlock. It has to go back to Samsung
The reason I asked if you purchased the phone from someone else but TMO you might want to contact the seller and see if they can help you out.
they must have given you the wrong unlock code. Also, if you entered wrong unlock code 3 times, your phone will freeze and you would have to buy a unfreeze code online.
No wait unlock code

I go mine unlocked on ebay. It coast me $29 but well worth it. Took the seller 3 days to get the code and it worked.
Also T-MOBILE does not hard lock these. they can become hard locked if you enter the unlock code unsuccessfully 3 to 5 times. If you got that message once... i would not try again with that code. I would just get it from Ebay... T-mobile does not have a good track record with unlock codes for the Vibrant or the Garminfone

That is the reason I bought it from eBay. It took 15 seconds of my time, and the seller sent it within a few hours. By contrast, I have to figure out whom to email at Tmo, give them time to generate it, and then get it back to me. Certainly not worth my $30 to do more and wait 3 days.

Is there anyone working on hacking the bootloader for us users that have sim-locked devices? I mean it would be a shame if only the sim unlocked devices got custom roms.
So if I sim unlock my phone the bootloader can be unlocked?
Sent from my R800a using XDA Premium App
Simply said: no.
For the current method of unlocking SE will look at an internal database to see if your phone is allowed to be unlocked after wich you'll get a special unlock code.
Can't some developers see how this process works and try to replicate it to sim-locked devices?
Is the bootloader just locked? or signed as well?
They would probably need to discover a whole new way to unlock the bootloader as there is both no unlockcode avaible and the locked bootloaders can't connect to the software that unlocks them.
As there would be less drive to unlock the locked bootloaders then with devices that are always bootlocked and the fact that the x10 took very long to hack I wouldn't expect it anytime soon.
Then again, I'm not one of those devs who seem to be able to do things that look like magic to me.
I got my Play a few weeks back, its sim locked to T Mobile UK. I cant get the phone to connect to fastboot (because its sim locked I know that) but the SE bootloader site gave me a unlock code. Do u think its at all possible for this phone to be sim unlocked somehow? My guess is no but its worth asking.

Can't they see how the x10 bootloader got hacked and then try it for the x10?

That is quite strange. Are you sure they sent you a code? I have never tried the website but it does seem strange.
i receive mine in a couple days. ill let u guys know. i bought mine from someone that got it free from google io. he says its unbranded and factory unlocked already.
@RacecarBMW yeah I have the bootloader unlock code saved on my laptop just incase I need it for any reason. The box is a GSM box with no T Mobile markings on it, but the phone is sim locked. When I hold down search and connect to USB the phone just charges, I tried both cables that cane with the play and a couple I already have but it always had the same outcome.

Is there maybe something in the build.prop that could be changed to enable fastboot? Or is that something that isn't included with sim locked phones?

charlieb620 seems to be the only dev in here but he already has an unlocked phone. We need to wait and get someone in here who can answer all these questions. Right now theirs nothing but questions. Once the US gets the play the demand for a unlocked bootloader will be huge and we will start seeing more devs jump on this.
Hi,
I have bought a used AT&T and bought a SIM unlock code from ebay from a seller with thousands of sells and 99.9% good rating.
The problem is that the code does not work. When I try to use it I just receive a message "Network Unlock Request Unsuccessful"?
Is there any solution for this or I have nothing to do and the device cannot be unlocked?
Thank you.

Thank you.

Anyone actually had this happen? I've heard rumors of a hardlock, but I've never seen an actual case. If someone has, was there some kind of message that appeared to indicate the hardlock?
well I have the same issue. Bought the phone through ebay, and after 7 days finally came to Croatia and I was so happy cause it doesn't sell in Europe. Then I had to input sim network unlock code which I didn't have, thought it was sim unlock code so after trying couple of times I guess I locked it. I bought the cone over ebay again for 2.30$ (so cheap) from unlock_fusion seller and they sent it to me in 5minutes! Of course the code didn't work, they refunded the money and I was stuck!!!
Now I gave it to service guys and they said that they will do it for 200kn - cca 40$. Now I'm waiting for feedback and if they do make it I will tell you how they did it.
Hope it will be ok because otherwise I have a 300$ toy which does not work.

i heard that if you leave the phone to sit on the "input sim unlock code" screen for a little while, it will reset back and you can put a code in.
i think i heard 30min. sucks but worth a try?

I also heard that it can take up to 8h with that screen on, I left mine during all night but did no good, but the service guy told me that motorola phone counter counts only when the screen is active (there is light on).

RESOLVED!
I fixed my Atrix SIM unlock issue!
Definitely no hard lock. The previous owner tried the unlock code at least 20 times, I tried it another 10. But after flashing the radio through a couple of versions, I was able to get it to finally accept that same code! Wahoo!

I started this thread since there are many that did not succeed with the unlock method proposed in the other thread: Unlock s4 for free with hidden options. If you have not been successful and further were unsuccessful in using an unlock code later but have found a solution or have any suggestions. please reply in this thread.

The unlock code is not hidden on the phone. This app just reads the IMEI and sends it to a server to get the unlock code. The unlock code is cryptographically generated based on IMEI and some AT&T key.

why would this app need access to the *#7284# menu? all that just to read the IMEI?

I can't tell you why... but the app sure can't read areas of the phone that root users can't. The description even mentions "server unlock codes" or something like that.
I should correct my previous statement - it is possible that the NCK is stored in unencrypted form somewhere on the phone - the protocol calls for the user to input the NCK and it is matched against the NCK On the phone - but many phones today (iphone for one) encrypt the NCK with something else.
So, it is possible that it exists somewhere and on the Captivate we were able to grab it from one of the block devices - but based on the description of the referenced tool, they are just grabbing the IMEI and looking up the code in a database.
I just caved and used cellunlocker.net took less than an hour and popped in a verizon card. It asked for the unlock code and i entered it. Went to work and tried a friends tmobile sim, booted right up no code asked.
Going overseas tomorrow and buying a sim for a local carrier while there.

I simply contacted my provider (AT&T) and asked for a code, as I was "leaving overseas for business". Got it on the spot and all worked out for free. Granted, I couldn't get a TMobile signal for crap.
I don't know much about how the unlocked works, but when I used the tool, the unlocked code is pretty much beverages instantly.
I unlocked my S4 with cellunlocker.net for $14.99 and I got the code within an hour.

Did your IMEI show up differently in the fastgsm software?
No the imei showed correct the whole time never changed..just the unlock code is all that was different..
Also with fastgsm..the program..as it was running said phone was unlocked but when I rebooted the first time..it asked for the code..I typed in the new different changed code and then phone said successful..every reboot since with t-mo sim card it immediately grabs data connection..almost quicker that it get 4g on att
Lastly..I had bought 3 codes from other sites that did NOT do cable unlock.. just by imei..and all three showed the same code att gave me that was of course unsuccessful
It seems like changing the perso settings ( which i messed with mine to no end..deleteing golden backups..restoreing factory settings).
Changes something that makes the phone require a second..different code..e.g Provider code vs. Sub-Provider code..( samsung tech support told me there were multiple different codes like network unlock.. unfreeze.. factory codes) ..but mine never did ask for anything but sim network unlock code..
Sorry if my typing is hard to follow but hope it helps for something

Thanks for the info. Good to know there is a solution to this problem. I will be using their cable unlock method, when I need it.
I appears that the cable unlock is the only solution if after trying the free method you can't unlock with the unlock code. As noted in the comment above and in this other thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2333347, using a cable method and/or tool appears to ultimately unlock the phone.

All of the servers we use to get codes state on all networks that "16 digit codes are unavailable". The s10 range are 16 digit codes.
We used "Chimera" to unlock my own phone and went through no problems..
You'll need to find an unlock shop that uses this software as it appears to be the only 3rd party solution at the minute.

That makes sense then and why no one can unlock yet with the codes. Does it usually take a week or two after launch for the codes to show?
Has anyone found a Sim Unlock site for the S10 that actually worked. Hoping the codes would of been out by now.

Please let me know, I could have my carrier locked S10+ in my hands by the end of this week and would like to unlock it.
I submitted the request today, I'll let you know how I make out.
So I finally got the unlock done. I went thru Cellunlocker.net. The codes are apparently still not available but they offered an alternative way. After I made payment they send you an email with a link and directions.
I had to download the program AnyDesk on my PC, from there I just connected my phone and the tech did the rest. Took about 10 minutes. My phone restarted twice and aft er the s ed condition reset he had me install the sim I wanted to use, came up with the Network Code request and I entered 8 zeros. Permanent Unlock! They did give me a discount code to share RMCU10.
i got mine from cellunlocker as well after getting the s10+ 2 days before. paid 25 for it

I went through cellunlocker as well and it took me about 2 1/2 days to get the codes, they sent me 3 codes (NCK, MCK, and RGCK). I used the 16 digits "NCK" code for mine. I put in my Google FI sim card, It asked for unlock code, and I used "NCK". Boom unlocked My S10+ was locked to Spectrum Mobile if that helps. Good luck!
I did mines on https://sim-unlock.net/ it took a day and £19.
just have a look at http://www.unlocksamsungonline.nl/en/scc it's direct unlock over USB cable so no need to wait for codes, latest security patches are supported, no need for root or downgrade. and most important, service is independant, and instant 24/7 so no need to wait for codes, just press the direct unlock botton and phone unlocked within 30 seconds.
