[INFO] flash player 10.3 - Eee Pad Transformer General

Hi TF fans,
Just did an automatic update to Flash player 10.3. Haven't tested it yet, will report when i have more.
Rio

Been running it for several hours now. No real noticeable improvement however I have read you need Honycomb 3.1 to take full advantage of the updates capabilities...
"Android users still need at least Android 2.2, but tablet owners are urged to update to Android 3.1 when they can to get the best performance. Adobe also recommends these users jump to full screen to idle the web browser and get full performance."

Best New 2.1 Roms (Eris Port)

Which of this is the best for you...
Please specify the reasson...
I started a poll yesterday http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5793118
I said Villian Rom
Fast, smooth and has everything it needs, and you know that Nathan will keep working on it as well.
Excellent
111mb spare with tonnes of stuff installed (I don't use apps to sd)
I reverted back to 1.5, all of them drain the battery for me. Too much going on in the background.
Also my Google Account kept syncing despite me disabling the sync for it. The UI would lag at times, and sometimes touching the up arrow (open menu) would show the 7 homescreens. Other bugs aswell made it not good enough.
I'm happy to wait a bit longer for a more stable 2.1
I'm on BeHero right now, and OpenGL performance isn't super. I play this game often, called Speedx 3D, and on 1.5, it was really smooth -- about 60fps. In all 2.1 ROMs, whether they were built from source or based on the leak, the game ran noticeably slower, i.e. 25-30fps.
I hope the official release will have it fixed!
BeHero is the best so far.
not fair guys !!
rate my ROM now after the update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641786
there is also new rom by lox, i gotta try that one and MaXo's 0.2
So far all of those I have tested have the same problems
No http access from apps
No facebook sync
No GPS in Navigation (works on Maps)
Hese are dealbreakers for me. The first things I test and the first reasons I reflash.
I have tested Villain 3.1 and 3.2 and BeHero.
Now moving on to Raidroid, but I suspect the problems lies in the Eris build rather than the various ROM builds.

ICS - what's the biggy?

When I bought the Xoom last year I installed the latest Tiamat rom (now Nandroid' at 2.2.2) and it ran really well, although the limitations of the hardware occasionally reared it's ugly head; I guess tablets can't come close to laptops at the mo now matter what mega ROM is installed.
I'm running Miui on an HTC DHD and it is an AWESOME Rom and nothing at all like vanilla Honeycomb, just on another level. I was hoping that when ICS came out there would be something similar for the Xoom. So I waited like a hungry dog for ICS to land and a stable(ish) build to come out and have now tried both EOS and Kang CM9 and both run well but how are they so vastly different from Vanilla ICS? I do really appreciate all the effort that's gone into getting these roms to us but if they're the same (or similar) in terms of looks, performance, usability etc what's the advantage with ICS over Honeycomb apart from a pretty small performance upgrade? Sure ICS does look a little different but only a bit, nothing drastic.....so can someone who knows more about these things tell me, what's the biggy with ICS?
Perhaps I'm expecting too much here but it seems a lot like the forums just got crazy giddy waiting for ICS to come out so then whipped themselves up into a lather (for maybe no valid reason) and that now the insanely mad push to get ICS working efficiently across the Android universe is more of a case of why man went to the Moon?.....because it's there, not because we needed to.
I think your sort of neglecting the big picture. Your looking at it from the perspective of someone who is already running Honeycomb on your Xoom. I think if you were running a HP Touchpad (for example) with Gingerbread you would be warming up a lot closer to ICS. Not every tablet has honeycomb on it so lets face it you are spoiled by the Xooms OS.
Oh and ICS has some nice features for example I can remove app from the recent app list by dragging it out of the list.
HC was a beta; ICS is a stable release

Its not small by any means. The performance increase is night and day.
A lot of the hype in general for ICS is for previous gingerbread users. Its a huge change for them in terms of UI. For honeycomb users, ICS is more like finally getting a stable release of the OS; honeycomb was IMO a beta test. Limited to tablets (which was a pretty small portion of Android users) and very buggy with quite a bit of work that needed to be done. Now we have a full release with some nice new features, proper performance and support for tablets and phones.
As for the custom roms, I'm pretty certain stock ICS Xooms don't have face unlock. The EOS settings are nice as well as built-in overclocking. I'm sure somewhere down the line the ad-hoc support will be sorted out and I remember reading a post by one of the EOS devs that they haven't even begun to work on performance optimization so this ROM could get even faster/smoother/better on battery.
The biggest reason to move is that ICS actually takes advantage of your second (or more) cores more efficiently than HC 3.x ever did.
Gingerbread for the most part, will not utilize a 2nd core at all even if you had one. That 2nd core would sit there idle. AFAIK.
So, ICS on Xoom is a huge boost in performance. You can see this as you use the device. Lag is completely removed from almost all tasks. With EOS Wingray/Stingray, you can even over clock to get even more performance out of the old Tegra 2.
Stability, smoothness in the UI, and overall polish. The browser is also WORLDS better.
+1 on previous comments RE: smoothness, performance. I was able to start playing with official ICS a couple of Thursdays ago when it rolled onto my Xoom as I was introducing myself to my nursing students.
AFAIK, and have tested, read/write to "external" SD card issue is partially fixed from the standpoint of apps directing r/w to the actual name Xoom gives the ext SD... with HC, the only way I could get it working was by using the File Manager for Honeycomb (can't recall the dev's name off the top of my head). Now, as more devs are updating their apps for ICS tablet compatibility, some are making the change and some aren't.

anyone knows when the 3g version in europe will get ics?
Well for one thing we won't really see all the benefits of ICS for awhile.
Remember ICS is the attempt to standardize App compatability between Phone and Tablets.
Until more phones get ICS we won't truly see the entire benefit of it.
And it's still relatively new and not fully fleshed out by the community yet.
They are still struggling with getting it up and running on devices (like ours which Team EOS is doing a great job with!)
HC was specifically written for Dual Proc units.
ICS' main goal is to support ANY number of internal procs which is a boon to Single proc devices and future multicore devices.
It also allows consistency of OS so that cheaper android tablets can be made. I can see single proc bargain Tablets on the way soon now that ICS doesn't care how many cores you have!
And the fact that it runs on phones and tablets just means easier coding for App developers because they can write one set of code to work on EVERY android device and have better compatability.
ICS was a very smart move by Google and provided the Manufacturers don't mess it up with bloatware creating problems we are all better off having it!
I don't think ICS has even scratched the surface of what it can do!
HC may be a bit more mature and stable but thats only because it's been in development longer...ICS will get there and more!

[Q] Fastest Android ROM (even if froyo/GB or lacking sense)

Good Day,
I got my International/EUR 512MB HD2 in 2009 but the screen was broken for the last 2 years in which time I was on vanilla WM6.5 on a Touch Pro 2. I finally fixed the HD2 screen last week.
All I want is a phone OS that is fast and has Adobe Flash to watch cricket and sports online websites (that do not have a specialised app).
I don't mind if there is no HTC sense and it doesn't have to be the latest ICS or Jellybean. Just good flash and web browsing because I am not a gamer.
No need also for animations nor eye candy either. Don't mind if all those are disabled just for the device to be fast.
I've tried 20 ROMs (NAND, NativeSD) in the past week and they have all been slow or the flash video does not show (even with latest flash apk).
Any ROM suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
Questions about suggesting ROMs are not encouraged at XDA.

Should I update? Go custom? I just want efficiency

I've had my TF300T for a year now.
I never updated the firmware (still stock 4.1), but it is rooted.
It still does everything I want it to do: Play games, watch videos through Plex, Youtube, and mostly just browse the internet.
My only problem with it is that it could be less "sluggish" when browsing on Chrome, though mobile formatted webpages are fine.
It isn't sluggish enough for me to need to go looking for ways to improve it, however, since my current firmware is ancient, I guess it is time for me to look into my options and see if it is worth my time.
Is there any performance improvement to be gained by updating to the latest stock firmware?
Is there a very stable, well established, modded firmware that makes it run smoother?

Android 4.4 running with ART and Overclock Kernal is so smoooooth with web browsing and games. Personally, I use CM11, but there are a few others too in the dev section.

A custom ROM -without ART or overclock-... is that good enough for what the OP wants?
without ART: because it's still experimental by Google and it might cause issues
without overclocking: because it will reduce the battery life of the tablet (and might cause issues)

haha, two completely opposite suggestions.
I don't mind losing battery life to overclocking. The tablet stays home almost all the time and we rarely ever get to 50% battery before we are done with the tablet and can leave it to charge again.
Stability isn't mission critical but it sure would suck to have to reboot more than once every couple of days due to a crash.
Now after having read about ART, and overclocking... damn, maybe I want to get into tweaking that mofo and make it nice again.
First, I need to dismantle it to re-align the screen. The damn thing was mis-aligned from the day I had to replace the digitizer

I got the base rom to run pretty good once I turned off all notifications and animations, and set the max number of background processes to 4
I like los14.1... but I've barebones the build by deleting everything I don't want and then I added some tweaks to make it feel real good.
All the custom roms are more or less the same (except for stock based like stock+ rom) because they are all made from Steel01's sources baked with custom rom specific files. So pick the one you find the prettiest or the most useful...
Hi All
What is latest ROM , there is any stability one from end of 2018 . Maybe someone working on new one ?
It depends what you're going for on your tablet. If you're aiming to keep all the Nvidia specific features I would recommend the 5.4.1 stock+ rom. If you don't care about any of that I believe that lineage is the way to go. Between the two, performance is the same for the most part, lineage is based on 7.1.2 though instead of 7.0, so you get a few newer features. If I have time later to come back to this I'll link them.

I've been trying the 5.4.1+ rom. For some reason it crashes and boot loops after installing Swift Keyboard Damn, I really like that keyboard. Then I updated Magisk on it, to get a message saying the new Magisk app isn't supported. So I uninstalled it to download the previous version and that caused a bootloop now too
Just flashed it again, hopefully it works better this time.
I am also wondering what is the best ROM for my K1 is?
First off, I bought this tablet used. Did some research and found out about the battery recall, mine is not one of them, as in I have the newer/better battery.
Secondly I did update the stock rom to 5.4 but the battery drain was horrendous. No gaming, just surfing facebook or the internet was a draining the battery in a few hours. Even in standby on my nightstand, battery was almost dead the next morning. Then after some research many people said to downgrade to 5.2 which I did and it pretty much fixed the battery drain issue.
Then I found out about LineageOS and decided to install 15.1, performance is good, but does still experience some battery drain issues, but not as bad as 5.4.
I also know that earlier this year LineageOS has returned support for the Nividia Shield K1 tablet, but is that for OS 17 and how long do I have to wait for that version?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

On 5.4 to get regular battery usage you have to enable custom cpu profiles, the default profile doesn't idle properly and the cpu's stay in a higher frequency state. You can then have all 4 cores enabled and it will idle properly (well it does for me), and you have nvidia driver support for the original wifi game controller which i have.
Otherwise, if you use a LineageOS 14 build, you can have full hardware video acceleration, on 15 builds you won't have hardware video acceleration.
So what your saying is I can go back to 5.4 and just play with the settings? Any special apps to do this, or just all within the android settings that need changing in order to have the performance and stop the battery drain problem?
If it's just the android settings, what are the settings I need to change? Tutorial?
Thanks
AOSP extended from bit obsession is a bit old but still snappy!

honestly, i think we are all screwed
my tablet wont charge at all now. it shows the icon on the screen saying it is charging but it doesnt charge at all. sometimes i can get about 10% on it.
the computer no longer recognises the device and i have only ever used official ota firmwares for it
spoke to Nvidia and all i got was the out of warrenty response.
they no longer care in anyway about shield tablet users and as it is discontinued its not like you can even buy a replacement. you cant buy secondhand either because theyll all just have the same bollocks battery issues we have on ours now.
I'll contribute a data point for anyone reading in late-2019 going into 2020:
I'm on Stock+ 5.4.1 on my K1 and it has been great for me so far in the last few weeks since I flashed it. I had been on the stock Marshmallow firmware for the past three years and was having the typical lag issues on wake. It was so severe that the tablet was completely unusable coming out of a deep sleep. It was also a chore to reboot it because even the lag on holding down the power button was agonizing and unpredictable. It was worse than booting Windows with an old hard drive.
I've had no lag-on-wake issues with Stock+ 5.4.1 so far. It's like coming back to remember why I liked this tablet in the first place after hating it for the past couple of years. I hadn't used it for anything other than daily alarms over the past year and change, but lately, I've been using it for bedside reading again instead of my phones.
To address a few of the issues that have been brought up in this thread:
I haven't had any battery drain issues with Stock+ 5.4.1. It seems to do about the same on my K1 as Marshmallow did, which was 100% to 15% on idle except for daily alarms (and snoozes) from Sunday through Saturday.
I ordered a new 6000 mAh replacement battery from AliExpress and will be installing it when needed. My current battery life isn't great, but it's not horrible either. I think it still manages to have about 80% of its original capacity.
After installing Stock+ 5.4.1, I flashed the latest Magisk 20.1 zip (Stock+ 5.4.1 came with Magisk 16.0) from within TWRP at a later date with no issues. Magisk 18+ is not compatible with Magisk Manager versions older than 7.0.0, but the old versions of Magisk Manager were bad in that they would always ask you to update to the latest version regardless of what version of Magisk you had installed. Basically, Magisk Manager was asking you for permission to nuke itself.
I have never used the official Facebook or Messenger apps, but virtually every comment I've ever read about them say that they're battery killers. Use a third-party app that combines both and has a smaller memory footprint.
I used to be an avid user of SwiftKey, but I've since soured on it. I haven't installed it on my K1 since the firmware upgrade and I don't know if I will going forward. The biggest benefit of SwiftKey used to be the dedicated number row, but its predictive swiping was the worst I had ever used. I'm on Gboard now and it seems to be working well. The only feature I miss from SwiftKey is the arrow keys to move the text cursor.
I am also wondering what is the best ROM. I got a K1 used as well not too long ago, and I mostly want to use it as a study tool for some CompTIA certifications in 2020, so viewing PDF's/word docs, exam simulations, and tutorial videos will be it's primary function. I do like comics so I would like it to perform snappy.
I really have no interest in gaming or social media.

I went with a stock-based ROM because I still wanted all of the tablet's functionality to work as designed, even though I've never played games on my K1 using a controller or created an Nvidia account. However, as long as retaining those features won't cause the device to run poorly and there isn't anything inherently poor about the stock experience, I don't mind. Stock-based ROMs are usually easier to set up and install. Nvidia stock firmware isn't known for being particularly bloated or heavy like that of some phone manufacturers, but of course LineageOS is still going to be faster at the cost of some device-specific features.
Given your intended use, as long as you use something newer than the stock Marshmallow firmware and its wake lag issues, you probably don't need to worry about much else.
I decided to dig my K1 out of the closet and have a play with over the holidays. I just flashed the stock recovery 5.20 but for some reason I cannot update or download any apps from the Google Play Store. I keep getting error 963. I searched how to fix this but nothing has worked.
Anyone else been able to fix this?
