[Q] Fastest Android ROM (even if froyo/GB or lacking sense) - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Good Day,
I got my International/EUR 512MB HD2 in 2009 but the screen was broken for the last 2 years in which time I was on vanilla WM6.5 on a Touch Pro 2. I finally fixed the HD2 screen last week.
All I want is a phone OS that is fast and has Adobe Flash to watch cricket and sports online websites (that do not have a specialised app).
I don't mind if there is no HTC sense and it doesn't have to be the latest ICS or Jellybean. Just good flash and web browsing because I am not a gamer.
No need also for animations nor eye candy either. Don't mind if all those are disabled just for the device to be fast.
I've tried 20 ROMs (NAND, NativeSD) in the past week and they have all been slow or the flash video does not show (even with latest flash apk).
Any ROM suggestions?
Thank you in advance!

Questions about suggesting ROMs are not encouraged at XDA.

[Q] How is the new stock ROM working out?

I have the T-Mobile HD, and still have the original ROM, radio, etc. Not the newer stock ROM, but the earlier one, from several months ago.
I recall reading here, and getting a TMO text message as well, when a new stock ROM came out several weeks ago. Of course there were threads then, about how people liked it.
I was very busy at the time, and have been since, so I have not yet flashed to the new ROM. It is very time-consuming to do so--not so much the actual ROM-flashing, but reinstallling and reconfiguring apps, the phone, etc.
I am thinking of perhaps doing so soon though--flashing to the newest T-Mo USA stock ROM for the HD2. (I'm sure there are many good cooked ROMs for the phone too, with many threads about them. But I am not interested in going that route at this time, and so I would not like this thread to get into discussion of them.)
I would like to ask those who were using the prior T-Mo HD2 stock ROM, and updated to the newest one, now, a month or two after the new one came out, how has it been working for you over time?
What improvements have you noticed, compared to the prior one?
Are there any disadvantages to the new one?
Thank you for your input.
I installed elegancia rom at first, and after roughly 1 week. I hated it more than anything. I downloaded the latest stock rom from xda and it's light years better than elegancia and the rom that originally came on my phone. It's so smooth, quick, and efficient! I hate htc sense! it's a resource hog and is completely inefficient. I have it as the regular desktop like setup and my hd2 lasts all day long now! even watching 16 hours video! at 40% screen brightness. Before it would only last 4 hours roughly. The only thing that i don't like right now is windows media player and htc video player are much more efficient at decoding high quality .mp4s than coreplayer. I wish they had some kind of settings so i could adjust the colors, brightness, contrast at the least! Hope this helps.
thanks
I've ran the pre-release leaked official ROM when it first came out and was impressed with it from the get go. When I switched to the official release from T-Mo, I noticed not that much difference between the two in terms of performance. In my experience, it's well worth the time to flash to the new stock ROM. The biggest and most profound change is the HTC messaging client. Hell of a lot more smoother and efficient. You no longer have the lag when trying to reply to a message in the threaded view. Although, once you hit the 300 to 400 message length with one contact there will be a lag while the messages load on screen for the first time, but that's to be expected in my view.
The other big change has been the stability. I can't recall the last time I had to restart my phone due to lockup, freezes or just poor performance issues. I would have to say that the stability is better with the Official Stock ROM.
Since the release of the Official Stock, I've flashed an Energy ROM to compare. It's based in part on the 3.14 release and it's very smooth and efficient. It's like butter and cinamon sugar on a hot tortilla. But. I just am so damned used to the HTC message client that I can't stick with the Energy ROM. So I've since switched back to the official release.
The official release seems to be running even better since the last flash.
To sum up. Flash to the official release. You won't be dissappointed and it's well worth the trouble.
Good luck and I hope this helps you out.

[Q] New to Android, ROM Selection Help

Hello Mates,
Some of you might be in here that I've dealt with in the past. I am new to Android, but did a good share of work in here with WinMo and just came back from iOS. My iphone was stolen and I was bored with it, so I have just ordered a HTC Wildfire. While it gets here I am wanting to ask some questions. Obviously i tweak all the phones I own (have a BB too) and wanted to know who can recommend a good ROM that for now that keeps the Sense UI, but has most of the garbage sorted out (Language packs, and other unneeded stuff) so I can start reading. Two years ago, there were perhaps 4 or 5 ROMS per WinMo device, I see the game has changed.
Paul
Well, from the list of Sense ROM's, I would recommend WildPuzzle or Sunnabh. I have used both (Not that others like DK/DS etc., so cant really comment), and, both are fine ROM's. WildPuzzle allows a bit more customization by way of more packages and stuff, and, Sunnabh allows for stability minded approach, but, its your call.
I would say, try out both, and use the one which suits you. Ultimately, have a look at CM7 as well, even though it doesn't have Sense, I was mighty impressed with it. (Initially, even I was more of a "Sense" user)
Finally, hope that your Wildfire does not come with 2.2.1 pre-installed. Else, you will have to hunt around for someone with an XTC Clip.
The best sense ROM imo is Wildpuzzle . I love the transparent status bar and lock screen, its fast and since its just a customized version of a stock rom everything works and its as stable as an elephant on 4 legs.
But if you want a ROM with a bit more customization and android 2.3 (wildpuzzle only have 2.2) CM7 is a very good ROM (mh, what could u expect, Jacob compiled it ). The only problem with it imo is the slow gallery (not sense gallery) and the videocam quality.
Moved to general
I moved away from sense a few months ago and started using CM7, definitely not planning on going back any time soon! It should definitely be your first option if you decide to look beyond sense.

Which version of CM7 are you using? RC2 has a much faster version of the gallery than it used to, or at least it does on my Wildfire?
After months of testing, I am now using Leaf r3 and it's the best I have ever tried.
ALWAYS stable, no freeze. It's almost stock FroYo ROM but Sense widgets and some useless apps that I hated have been removed (oh thanks).
In CM7, the font looks pixelated, much worse than in FroYo. I believe is a Sense thing. So, I took Leaf r3 and created a Gingerbread-style framework-res.apk and HtcResources.apk, combined with Metro homescreen.
Amazing!
Some Sense apps are much nicer than Stock android apps (specially Camera)

Need your advices. choosing Android ROM

Hi guys, I`ve just bought HTC HD2, and I`m tired of WinMobile, because my last 2 cell phones had WM. I was watching for SD android rom, but there are so many of them, I can`t pick. Maybe you can help me and give your advice. I need stable, fast android ROM, that has WORKING 3G / Data, Audio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 720p PLAYBACK,Phone, Camera, Camcorder, GPS, USB Disk FUNCTIONS.
It would be perfect that it has Android market.
Looking forward to your advices
P.S , is there any threat of flashing Android Rom for the first time?
I am looking for the same thing, I've tried a few of the roms here on first page.
The one I liked most was the one from darkstone "darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5" but it aint been updated since 18th december and is outdated and has security flaw, yet it worked perfect.
I could do all the things you said, and it was super fast, no lag, nothing bad.
All the newer ones dated march all have the SENSE thing, it sure makes it look nice and like your still in WinMo but theyr also MUCH slower and MUCH less responsive. Also many have trouble running games I could just install from market that ran with no trouble on the darkstone thing.
Of these I tried: "AmeriCanAndroid AOSP", "RAFDROID HD 4.1" and "BOYPPC")
So I will wait for responses here too ^^
(Regarding the slow sense thing, maybe its possible to disable it somewhere, beyond my knowledge how to though)
these are my favorite SD builds, all the stuff you mention seems to work for me.

the second one is a chinese port of a great ROM with an iPhone feel to it, it's quite fast and awesome.
No, there is no harm in flashing an Android ROM to NAND, it actually flashes over MAGLDR which is a bootloader than flashes over HSPL, this basically means no matter what you flash Android-wise can be undone very easily with no risk.

See my comparison chart: http://bit.ly/hUCNww for SD builds. Suggest Darkstone SuperRAM (v1.5 or Sense v0.1). I have not found one build that beats these - please speak up if any of you found a better one - SD or NAND.
I find coredroid (nand for all leo versions), to be very stable and fast with a good battery life, Over the past 2 weeks no lock ups everything works, the odd tweak is required but its well worth looking into

[Q] Today's Androids for HD2

Hello.
I was gone from forum in a couple of weeks because I got used to WP7 on my HD2. But since ICS came out I couldn't just leave it. So I want to ask you how is ICS working on HD2? Is it so slow and laggy like the other Android ROMs for HD2 were some months ago? If yes which other ROM is relatively fast and smooth today? And if something changed since then can I get names of the fastest and smoothest ICS and GB ROMs with their advantages and disadvantages?
Thank you.
okey~
They are allfast n smooth. For example check out hyperdroid or cm7ite for GB or icecream tosti AOSP+ or tytungs cm9 ics rom for ICS. Ics still have a LITTLE zoom prob n flash isnt fully supported yet. But using youtube app for vids works great. Im using ics now for weeks (as my phone for work, ftp vpn works) and no probs here. If you want a rom which works perfectly with full hardware support check GB. In both, ics n gb there isnt any "slow" or lag anymore. You are also able to oc with stock kernel or dorimanx or fikret kernel up to max 1600mhz. Just check it out by yourself.
Question.. how can someone ever get used to wp7 lol? Its trash without any functionality and lag of apps, imo. They made a huge step back with this os.
So check out the android nand rom section

So answering your question:
I also always liked to play with apps and so on but all the Androids I've tried then were slow or were crushing or restarting constantly. So I had to find an OS which would never fail me. WP7 showed to be the best one for it. It's the fastest and smoothest OS I've ever tried which never crushes and is unbelievably intuitive. I've never had any problems with it so I just stayed with it.
Anyway, thank you for your answer. Can we play the best 3D games without lags on ICS? Which ICS ROM would you recommend most?
Sincerelly
okey~
ICS is not there yet, would need full Hardware Acceleration to work before it gets into a stable mode.
If you want a no hassle, fast ROM go give cmhtcleo's CM7 nightlies or Tytung's Nexus HD2 (Gingerbread) or Tyween's Typhoon or Dorimanx's light ROM or Hyperdroid or any of the CM7/ AOSP GB ROM a try.
If you are an advanced user go for Dorimanx's Highend ROM - read up properly though.
Both of these configs will run apps and games pretty slickly for a 1GHz 448 MB (user memory) device, and are pretty stable - my phone has been up for 300 hours without a reboot now.
If you want eye candy, Sense
I think Tytung ROM is very smooth for ICS,,,,,,,but for running games without lag, i prefer you running Gingerbread,,,it's stable
Maybe you can try....
I suggest you flash smokin901's MIUI V4 which is superb.

[Q] Which Android ROM should I Install?

Hi everyone!
I just want start of by saying how grateful I am to this community. I've had my HD2 for 2 years now with no plans to change all thanks to the dedication and hard work and support I've received here.
Here's the problem: I installed Android nearly a year ago, ICS 4.0.3, CyanogenMod version 9.0. It initially ran beautifully, but now it slow as molasses, and a little infuriating. In fact, sometimes it makes me want to go back to WinMob 6.5 (yeah, THAT bad).
It seems to be draining the battery really quickly even though I can't seem to figure out what it causing the drain (I've tried changing the battery already). What I'm tempted to do is simply load a new ROM on it and start from scratch.
I'd really like an up-to-date ROM, but one which is stable and reliable (I don't need anything too experimental). I'd love your recommendations. Links would be appreciated as well, but I'm sure I can find them if I know what to look for.
Thanks in advance

It ran beautifully? I find that incredibly hard to believe, since at that time the only ICS ROMs you would find would be ROMs built from the SDK. Anyway, just try any newer ICS or below ROM, they all work fine.
For you...Xylos cyanmobilex leo 1.0 rom either on nand or native sd..

Try this or this ROM. Fast, lite, speed and smooth.
Typhoon ROM is the king. Fast, Rich and stable.
But thread is dying, because development stopped.

I second this but untill ICS or JB can fix netflix I'll jump ship. But for now Typhoon is best for me lasts me 2 days of regular browsing and texting. I did try WP7.8 but headphone jack in my car aux stopped me from using it as a daily.
