Is it possible to root the official Desire HD OTA build?
Im almost certain that it isnt. If you want to root your phone you will need to downgrade first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003

your best bet and least complicated while being most efficient would be CF root----http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Hi, I´m looking for an easy way to root that phone like z4root or something like this. So I tried to root with Gingerbreak but the phone is still unrooted. Anyone knows if Gingerbreak will be developped to work with DBT 2.3.3 version, PDA: I9000XWJVI, PHONE: I9000XXJVO?
Gingerbreak and Z4root got patched by Google. Currently there is no way to obtain root without a custom kernel.

OK, then, for the time being, I have to use CF Root and also change the custom kernel. And that´s what makes me feel uneasy regarding the matter when Samsung is offering i.e. GB 2.3.4 via Kies officially will I also get the new version via Kies officially or do i have to flash then via Odin?

You can root directly without the need to downgrade any more. Look at the development section.

When you will downgrade to 2.3.2 and do gingerbreak, you should update with OTA, not PCC or SEUS.
Try again
As said before look in dev for doomlords thread about root any xperia. You dint need to downgrade any more.
If this fails use the old method you mentioned but update OVER THE AIR. Not with cable

yep! You have to flash kernel from .230 firmware via flashtool, root it with towel root or easy rooting tool and then flash kernel from .283 back.
thanks
Where do I find the kernels to do that? Thanks
