just got a voicemail from a Best Buy automated voice informing me of a Xoom software update from Motorola that is now ""rolling out"" for all Xoom owners. Anyone else get this message?

Anyone have an email address I could mail a video of the voicemail to if anyone wants tto verify this? I wasnt expecting anything and I have yet to recieve an update.

got it a few minutes ago. Checked for the update, but nothing yet. Hoping it wont screw with my root.

Those of you getting calls, do you have a 3G or a WiFi? Also, I think it's strange that best buy is calling and not Motorola emailing. They didn't do that with the first update.

I got the same call about an hour ago. I am wondering if its just a mistake and is simply communicating the update that occurred about a month ago?

that's what I was thinking...

xoom 3g here. I just find it odd that none of the tech sites like engadget have reported anything on this.

Also, I think this is just the first update. Why are they just now calling about it?

This is the same update we already received. Flash support and daylight savings fix are the items we received with the 3.0.1 update.

The update does not come via Market. You had to download flash from the market after the 3.0.1 update.

The message said that adobe flash player was available via mmarket, not the rom. Said that the rom would be pushed. Reread above message.

If the first place we hear about a Honeycomb update is via a Best buy voice mail I will be stunned. My guess is Best buy is a month behind or trying to reduce returns by getting customers to upgrade to 3.0.1.

so are we decided that it was a mistake meant to go out for the first update?
Because I'm pretty confused. Noting that everything said left on my voicemail just an hr or so ago was all from the old update. And if it is a mistake, I hope it's just going to push everyone to get an update out faster, cause that just made me more impatient than i've been.
Also, just on a side note. This Motorola keyboard is awesome for this xoom.

From the sounds of it, this was meant to go out to their preview members only. I guess someone jumped the gun and didn't bother to let them know they weren't supposed to talk about it.
Which is only a guess, since the corporate rep on the forums has been very vague - only a single post with a "maybe" and then a bunch of posts insisting that people who have stated they got an update check their email.
I wonder if Motorola has really internalized the fact that there are, like, four or five other vendors for these tablets coming out in the next few months - many of them with very, very similar hardware. Not communicating with their tech-savvy audience seems like a poor way to convince people to recommend their tablet over others.

They need to share this ****!!!

i got the update on my WIFI ONLY xoom i tried installing it it crashed on the android with exclamation mark, so i restarted and its back on 3.0.1 and says its up to date

This is pretty disappointing. The update obviously exists and works on the wifi xoom but google won't release it yet probably just to make Verizon happy.
Are people really going to go out and buy 3g xooms just because the update on Verizon came first.

Same happened to me...

My wife's stock US wifi xoom (purchased 1 week ago) got the update last night. My rooted wifi xoom (purchased shortly after launch) hasn't received it yet.

Hmm Being in Denmark and having purchased a US Xoom Wifi I wonder what to do. (Stock 3.0)
So I did the following ...
Added a VPN tunnel to USA. (had previosly brought VPN access)
Set the date 1 day back, to let the Xoom look for updates.
" no cigar! "
Set the date 1 day forward (today´s date)
Still no luck -
I wonder if the update is really rolling out
Can Anyone confirm Xoom Wifi is really getting 3.1 right now ?
Is there Anyway to "push" it - (besides the date change procedure)

I also have a US WIFI only Xoom in Europe and i'm impatient
I downloaded the update from development forum, made a host USB cable and updated my Xoom manually.
I must say that everything that i hoped for is fixed in 3.1, so i'm really pleased with my Xoom now.

ya - I read about the procedure.
I dont think ill root my Xoom, even though my phone is (SGS I9000)
But is it possible to do without rooting the Xoom ?

You don't need root, my Xoom was stock before and is stock now.

Read the Guide thread, all information is there, including a link to how to make a host cable. If something is still unclear, then just ask.

Not according to my conversation with Motorola today. Can you buy a wi-fi only from Verizon? Just wondering if those are still branded differently and that's why they're getting updates.
For now 32GB is plenty for me so I'm not exactly screaming for the SD card update. But I will be a little disappointed if I have to wait weeks for my update when Verizon got theirs already. There were several items in the list below that I was really hoping to take advantage of. I'm not exactly crying over the update just yet though, because I'd rather do the official OTA update than download directly like others have been doing. However, I will pre-qualify all this with...the rep I spoke with didn't seem to be the most knowlegable and appeared to be reading from a script based on the responses I was given to some other questions I asked. So take this with a grain of salt.

[?GUIDE?] How I got Google Music Beta on a Canadian Xoom in Canada

Finally, I feel that sheer awesomeness =D
Anyways.. here she is
** I didn't sign up **
THE STEPS I TOOK:
**Note: I don't think this matters but this was a wifi-only Xoom
1) The usual Root process
2) Flashed 3.1 on to my Xoom and changed my Canadian FW to USA FW
3) Sat and Waited
4) Few days later, got the email
5) Went through and signed in like it said to do
6) I figured I wouldn't get far... but I DID.. so when I went to my Xoom no changes took effect.. So I gave up and figured it wouldn't work since my music app stayed the same
7) Few days later, I guess my Music app self updated (because I couldn't get the new one through the market for some very very strange reason)
8) My music app registered and thats the end... I now have Google Music in Canada
NO IP CHANGES NO VPN's or anything.. so for those still trying in Canada ... I am proof that it's possible =D

Thanks. Just switched to the stock US ROM on my UK Xoom. Wonder if I'll get an email!

upgrading to brd's hc Verizon version as per post above did the trick for me. Loaded 5000 songs this weekend. Works well. It also installs google books hc version with access to public domain books. The video app, which is useless when rooted. Us app market version, too, which isn't a huge deal.
To confirm you have the Verizon version, go to App Market > Purchase History > Settings.

Did you have to flash the complete 3.0.1 US Rom first, or did you root your Canadian Rom directly?

I have also access to the books.
My xoom is recognized as a Xoom Verizon in the web market.

Movies in Market (3.1)

So I updated with the rooted 3.1 and it's awesome, but when I got into the market, there's just the apps and books tabs but no movies tab. Anyone else have the movies tab yet or is this coming from the OTA and not the leaked one?

i think movies only works with a 3g xoom so far, the wifi xoom and tf may come latter

They must be blocking it from non rooted devices too, because I have no Movie tab in my market after upgrading to 3.1. However, I do have one on my pc on the Web based marketplace.

I'm not rooted and I can't see the movies either after 3.1

It's not available on all honeycomb devices yet, but I'm sure we'll find out more when we can have in in the coming weeks

When you choose an unsupported app the device does not show up in the download to drop down, I believe the movies will be the same way.

Stupidity Either that, or it's a ploy by the carriers to push people into overages and ever more expensive data plans, they can't do that if you're only using WiFi.

3.2 finally arrives in the UK

Not sure why it takes three months to get the UK update to 3.2 after the US, but it finally arrived on my MZ604 today... perhaps it's translating from American to English

With films now in the market and a slightly prettier Google+ update, tonight's been pretty good
The keyboard lag seems better I've noticed while typing this out

considered wiping my xoom and setting it back to the UK 3.2 image - but then thought if i stick it out on the US 3.2 image then i'll probably get ICS 3 months quicker than the UK...

iv just got my update aswell let see after the download if all the bugs iiv found are fixednstill contemplating to root it :/ my sgs22 is but might wait till I get board lol

Is this update 66.0.23.en.EU that we're talking about here?
I've got the option to update to this but my MZ604 is rooted using the any update/any version method so dunno if its wise to update or not.

Why on earth do the 3G's (who paid more for their devices too!) get the updates after the standard Xooms? It's a ridiculous situation - it's not as if Moto don't know the difference between the two and can't create the update for both at the same time! GRRRR

Wen will 3g get it? I might just sell up and get xoom two next month

Honestly? Xoom = fail
I don't get upgrades on time and most of uk banks charge for all market purchases (£1.25 on top for overseas transactions) - not like there is anything interesting to look for anyway (most of apps look and operate like s..t).
I wanted to buy something else then Apple and I ended up with clunky, laggy, buggy, overpriced (£570) prototype of a tablet. Now value dropped 50% and all truth came out - it's just ipad-wannabe.
(also I barely managed to write down this rant because of stupid keyboard lag...).
ICS? I'm tired of waiting. Google can't even release one simple upgrade on time... I'll wait for iPad 3 instead and I promise you that - I will have it before ICS upgrade. At least Apple is always on time with their stuff.

I know this is for the UK 3.2 but it's looking good for AUS - I really hope this resolves the Tiamat market issue!

I wouldn't be in a rush for 3.2 if I were you - I recieved it over the weekend and lost the ability to write to the SDCard again! It was there in 3.1, gone in 3.2 - SDCard is back to read-only, unless you connect via a PC.
Sure, you get an Office app, and some printing utility etc, but going back to read-only SD cards is a major backward step for me!
