Dinc motherboard - Droid Incredible General

I purchased a Dinc from some dude for some parts I needed and it has a good motherboard with a clean ESN. It is the SLCD 0003 version. I did a clean install of 2.2 Froyo and rooted it. I'll take $100.00 for it if anyone is interested. This is just the motherboard.

MyTouch 1.2!!! :O

Will it be possible that they run out of original MyTouches so when you get a replacement, they give you the newer 1.2 model? I'm dying for a new phone, but T-Mo isn't giving out any good android phones! D: I just wanted a MyTouch with more RAM to actually run stuff faster. I should have just stuck with my G1 with A2SD -.-

My mom's friend had a original Mytouch, she she ended up dropping it in water about a few weeks ago and the warranty replacement got her the Mytouch 1.2. So, most likely, yes.

Really?
Phone damage not considered defective includes, but is not limited to:
Cracks on or damage to the phone case indicating that the phone has been dropped.
Damage indicating that the phone has been exposed to liquid.
LCD damage such that the phone screen has cracks or blue spots.
Phones that have been modified or tampered with.
I somehow find that difficult to believe since water damage voids the warranty. She probably had to buy a new one and all they had was the new 1.2 devices.
that or her water indicator didn't turn green like it's supposed to

I bet she meant insurance, a lot of people mix those up unless like mentioned above the sticker didn't get wet enough to change colors, I've seen this happen before, my wife doesn't take care of her phones and have been submerged in toilets, fish tanks, all kinds of juices and probably more by mostly our oldest son who is still a toddler and some times the sticker doesn't change colors)

Yes, Insurance is what I meant, thanks for the correction.
Thanks!
Well I do have insurance and the warranty is still good. Mine is getting a bit scratched up, maybe I can fake a problem like I did with my other MyTouches. I hope so! I've been dying for a 32a. Only problem will be the color since I have a merlot MyTouch and there's only white and black 1.2s :/
Arghhh
So I called and asked the guy if he could put it through insurance, but he advised me to put it to warranty. I didn't want to be all suspicious :/ I hope that I get a newer one. I doubt it though if it's through warranty :[ whatever, mine is all chipped :/
Brick it!
:/
Won't I have to pay the deductible for tampering? I don't have the money to go and pay for a deductible of like...100 :/ FML

Bad headset speaker? Check this out

My speaker first my evo4g has been blown for a few months now and haven't been able to find a reasonably priced replacement, so today I searched again and found this guide:
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repair/Installing-HTC-Evo-4G-Rear-Speaker/3067/1/
Replacement speakers are available for only 13 bucks @Www.evospeakers.com
Or additionally ebay sells for 15 bucks.
*update. I finally replaced my speaker after having to return the first one due to shipping damage.
It was easier than I thought replacing it. The only issue, was that you had to remove the foam surround on the rear of the bad speaker because the new speaker doesn't have this and it won't work unless its on there.
But besides that its a 5 min procedure with detailed info available that helped me replace my blown (due to water damage) Evo speaker.

Why not just take it to sprint? They will replace the speaker for free.

Rooting and flashing custom roms voids your warranty.
Getting an inferior refurbished phone is not what I want.
Cost 13 bucks and takes 10 min
Do I need to list more reasons?

No, they will actually remove the old speaker and put a new one in. As far as rooting goes, just nandroid your current setup and flash Sprint Lovers or Joey Krim's roms.
I just had my fixed a week ago. I have the same phone, it was rooted, they replaced the speaker. I flashed a "stock" looking rom before i took it in. Just restored it back as i walked out with my fixed phone.
Yea this (and most phones) come with a 1 year warranty anyway, of which the speaker is covered under.
Just take it to a sprint repair center and they will either replace the speaker or the entire back half of the phone but you shouldn't get a refurb.
I already had to get my speaker replaced once, it was a simple no questions asked procedure.
A blown speaker is not a software problem. Rooting should have nothing to do with it. I have had my screen replaced due to dust under the glass, and then I had the plastic cover over the camera lens replaced. Both times I took the phone in running Fresh and Riptide's theme. Nothing was said about it. Well, one of the techs asked me how I was getting such good battery life.
I took mine in for blown speakers, was told board has water damage. Still have 2 blown speakers.

+1 same thing here they could careless that the phone is rooted.
Really seems to be a common problem...
I took my 0003 to Sprint yesterday for the earpiece speaker being blown. They were going to replace the speaker for me, but I was told they didn't have any older-style speakers in stock. They're going to mail me a phone now. I'm not sure whether that means refurb or new though. I unrooted before I went there to avoid complications.

I bought an evo from somebody on Craigslist and then had a guy flash it to cricket, then I realized the phone had a bad ear speaker. The person who flashed the evo tells me that if I can get a friend (with a Sprint phone) to activate my evo in their account then after a couple of days they could take it in to have it fixed. Does anybody know if that would be truth? I wouldn't want to have a friend go to the trouble for nothing..
Thanks in advance if anybody can help me!

Idk if its covered unless you purchased
It from sprint. Possibly they won't know but I'm not sure.
You could get insurance but then would pay a deductible
Replacing the speaker is cheap an easy. No soldering required.

I thought my speaker was blown tonight, but I just blew on it for a little bit and now it works.. Must have been a piece of dust or something in there... We will see how long til it screws up again..

Bricked HD2

Yep. I bricked my HD2 by flashing the 51. Last night, half asleep I did it. I was running droid for about 2 weeks no issues. Phone is dead, won't power on. Tmobiles policy is because I didn't buy the phone from them, they will not warranty it. HTC service center is opened M-F.. If they dont want to fix it, anyone know of any online sources that would like to fix this?
Phone is completely bricked, doesn't power on. No led lights. Seems loader / spl is gone. Paper weight. I know theres 10000 threads about bricks, but I didn't see any about repair centers or reputable members of this great community who are unbricking them. Any ideas?
Sorry to hear that. Others might know how to get it back up running but in case no one does. Not sure how it is in the States but in Switzerland I never had luck with Official HTC Repair Centers. They might be able to fix something realy easy like doing a hardreset. but they always quoted me a huge price to fix anything else. Basically replacing it for the original full price. For about a third of that I was able to buy a new one on Ebay. Got my last T-Mobile HD2 for $242. If your old one is still in good cosmetic condition you can still sell if for parts and get atleast $120 to $200 depending on how you do it. The HD2 Screen and Digitizer is worth allot of money because its so big. But I hope you find someone that knows how to fix it. Good luck.
Yeah your HD2 is completely and hopelessly bricked if you flashed a .51 radio. Currently there is no way that we know of to recover from this, other than sending it to HTC and letting them fix/or replace it. You are looking at around 150USD +/- if in warranty, and God knows how much if you aren't. Don't be sleepy and flash kids!
Wow,
Even with JTAG there is no way to recover? That is such fail on HTC behalf...
I know that its negligence on my behalf for flashing it, but the fact that it bricks the devices like this is just
And if the phone is under warranty .. lets say power goes out when flashing an official tmo rom.. wouldnt it brick in the same sense?
yes jtag willdo it, but its about 100 dollars for the kit, and you have to totally dismantle the phone.
I've used the Riff-Box to un-brick my HD2 but I'm no electrical engineer. There are some engineers at the following link (hxxp://preview.tinyurl.com/25unuds) that offer to repair a range of devices. Hope you find someone local
ty. There are two local people here in the usa
Thanks!!
I bought my phone on craigslist with a cracked screen.. I also bricked my phone from flashin .51 without paying attention..
I called HTC and told her directly what I did, she told me they could fix it with no problem.. and that it would be between $50 and $170..
When they got the phone, she told me they had to replace the motherboard in my phone and would do it for free as long as I paid for the cracked screen, which was $120.
I have my phone back now, good as new

How long did the warranty process and shipping take?
Did you have a different SPL? Because I was running droid on mine.
But if I tried to flash to the .51 wouldnt this reset the spl?

i suspect htc use screens and boards pre assembled when doing repairs. a friend had his cracked glass repaired (paid repair by htc) and i sent mine in with a faulty usb port(so new board, screen fine) and in both cases we got new boards and screens, but the back of the phone was the same.(both have full body zag, still in place, but not on the screen, plus new imei numbers.)

Worried about replacement evo ..

yes same would love a new in the box and a refurb
I got a refurb 004 a few months back and if anything, its better than my 003. I think 99% of the problems are gone now
I don't remember the hardware version I had before. It probably was 3. I got my phone the day it was released.
Maybe a month or less now that I got a 4 refurbished. I worried at first but I haven't had any problems with it. I did check the refurbished at the store and the screen was defective. The tech offered to put my original screen on the refurbished since it was defect free. I've been happy ever since. I'm using it quite often, with the sprint extended life battery, even though I have a shift. The large screen is easier to read stuff and the battery easily lasts me all day with like 40 to 50% left when I go to bed.
I wouldn't be afraid of the 4; just thouroughly test the 4 before walking out of the store.

I thought the 0004 revision was better than the 0003? Am I wrong on this, or did they screw something up with the next revision? I own a 0003 myself.
All your gonna lose out on is a little bit of compatibility here and there but I think that is minimal now since the 0004 stuff has been included in most everything now. If your lucky you might get a brand new one anyways if the amount of refurbs they have available is dwindling. I got a replacement for my launch day Evo, and the one they sent me was an 0003. This was back in July but I checked the refurb state through the ## code (I dont remember which one) and it ended up being a brand new phone because it hadn't ever been activated or refurbished.
Well, sprint is going to give you a refurb, there is NOTHING you can do about that. However, if you are unhappy with the quality of the refurb, you have every right to take it back. Either call customer service, explain your problem with it, and tell them you want another one. Or go to a repair center and see what they can do for you. Do NOT just settle for equipment that's broken, or doesnt work the way it should.

Agreed, I'm on EVO #4 and it's a refurb 0004 and it's the best one so far and it has an Epson screen which is way better than the Novatecs I had before.

Forgive my noobishness but what are you guys referring to? I just got my EVO last month.
NVM... Hardware version 0003.
If I just bought the phone last month... shouldn't it be newer than this, since I'm hearing you guys talking about 0004's or w/e?

you would be lucky to get a 004 evo. but more than likely it will be a 002 or 003.

Use it. If it screws up, exchange it for another one.

[Q] Aaargh. USB broken.

At first I thought it was a ROM issue, but it is not. I have tried several cables including new ones and the original HTC one. It will charge, but will not copy files to and from the computer.
I have insurance, should I use that? Will they give me a refurb or a new one? The phone is in good condition otherwise. Will the new phone have the 2.3 update with the locked bootloader?
I wish this happened before the locked OTA.
Are you sure there's no foreign debris in the port?
And you can easily test if it's ROM related by connecting it while in recovery.
Regardless, it should be covered under warranty, so there's not need for "real" insurance.

Ok lets cover a few things.
If your phone is less than a year old, the bad USB port should be covered under the manufacturer's warranty. So at the sprint store they shouldn't charge you anything.
The chances of you receiving a refurbished phone is very high. While some people have gotten lucky and received new units, I wouldn't count on it.
Every update for the htc EVO has had a locked bootloader. This is nothing new. We have only been able to have nand access due to exploits that have been found. Whether or not an exploit will be found for the latest bootloader is up in the air. Just thought I would clear that up.
Good luck.

I have had to replace two of our evos now, mine and my wifes. Mine to being stolen and my wifes was a victim of our child throwing it in the toilet.
Both were replaced with brand new non refurbs. Life time calls were 0 on both.
My wifes was replaced last week. Arrived last monday and was hardware 004 with old partitions (20k blocks) and still had 3.70 on it.
I suggest you stop worrying about what you will get as a replacement until after it comes.

Go to your nearest repair shop or sprint and see what happens. Noone here can tell you for sure since as a lot of things in life it is different in almost every case. I just go to my sprint repair shop and if they have one there I get it if not I wait a day. I got a refurb but who cares it works fine at least for me.
Good luck and do something since the longer you wait the likely hood of you getting the new bootloader is definitely possible.

This. Exactly what I was going to say. Warranty should cover it, but we all know sprint is going to tell you that's not the case.
Thanks for the replies everyone, I will go to the store.
Hopefully the RUU downgrade does work. I thought that some of the threads said the new bootloader was unlocked and the RUU method wouldn't work.
Less than one year
If its been less than one year since your contract, you should be covered and get a replacement (i did). Otherwise they might refer you to htc.
