Help!How to unpack update.pkg file? - Streak 5 General

I want to unpack pkg and rebuild,How to unpack .PKG file?
Tks

You have to have a stock recovery, place the update.pkg on the sdcard. Go into recovery and select option 2. then at a certain time, pull the battery, restart the streak and look on your sd card and there should be a update.pkg.dec, rename that to update.zip and you can extract it.
Or you can thank manii for unpacking almost all the releases which can be found here: http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/

thank you...

camera n compass u flash it in xrecovery. u can flash both then reboot without having to reboot after each flash.
as for mddi u need to do it manually for now i don't think doixanh made a xrecovery zip yet
the meta-inf folder basically just contains a script to tell xrecovery where to copy the files.

problems with flashtool

im unable to make a ftf file with flashtool. i unzip the file. then search it, select it in source folder. The flashtool never opens the file and subfiles. It never displays in the left column. Ive started with a zip file, then unziped it. Ive also tried winRAR to extract the files. Im using 2.9.1 Java 1.6.0_24 os 6.1
Any help or tips would be appreciated
Hey, you must sure that in the zip file just one file .ftf, if so, extract it. If there are 4 files like system, data ... you must rename the .zip file to .ftf

OK, what you have is wolfbreaks rom, this is installed on your phone via xrecovery not an ftf file, if you want to install it you need to install xrecovery on your phone first, then install this from there.
You need a rooted rom for this, so is your rom rooted and what version are you on 2.1 or 2.3
I have x recovery on my phone know. That's how I upgraded from 2.1 to 2.3, because my phone is sim unlocked. Super user is v2.3.6.1 I followed a thread on the upgrade. I can link which thread when I'm home.

[Q] Galaxy Y S5363 Root puzzling

Please forgive me guys if this has been asked before ..........I've searched the forum without success......but my problem is with this
;
Universal_GB_ROOT_v9.zip mediafire.com/?a99wthh9p98bm0y
I followed the advised procedure but when I get to the choices screen and select install from SD Card, I am then shown this list of options:
../
.android_secure/
Android/
DCIM/
LOST.DIR/
META-INF /
system/
Where do I start, I have tried going through in sequence with no success/response, I have then tried just selecting META-INF / & system / in sequence, again no joy....... could someone give this inquisitive old duffer a walk through, or show me what I'm doing wrong, PLEASE:fingers-crossed:
You are not supposed to extract the zip. Just select install zip from sd card, then select the root zip. Don't extract it and you will be fine.

Thanks for the quick reply......I have not extracted anything, I just downloaded the zip file went nowhere near extraction and the file in my SD card says META INF & system, no where is it named as zip.
Would you by any chance have a good link for the zip file instead.....be grateful.
You're using apply update from SD card in CWM right?
Well location of your zip file should be..
/sdcard/*here*
If you are using atock recovery then the zip file should be on top of the list.. It SHOULD be a .zip file
if you are using clockworkmod recovery then the .zip file will be at the end of the list.. Good luck
Press thanks if i helped you

Thanks for the reply, but I still can't find what I'm looking for. I want to take the twrp.img or cwm.img file and create a flashable zip from it. I see that you've done it for twrp, do you mind sharing how you did it ?
Thanks again,
Mike

Download the zip and extract it. All you need to do is drag and drop the recovery image you want in it, cwm or twrp and delete the one that's currently in there. Then navigate to the updater-script (it's deep inside the meta-inf folder) and edit it with notepad++ It'll become self explanatory once you look through the zip file. When you'll all done just zip it back up. You'll have a flashable recovery zip.
Ps, I use 7-zip to extract and zip

I already shared the firmware here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75076587&postcount=7
This is the September version. In order to get to the newest version of Nougat, you have to install the update zips one by one. They are on the forum too.
Happy flashing

No, unzip the archive and then click on Edit phone Information on OST. You can do this while the archive is extracting to skip some wait time. Then open your favorite terminal program and flash the img files from the archives like this: (example with the included fastboot-android.exe on Windows)
fastboot-android.exe flash x x.img. X is the filename of the img file. You can look into my linked article to see which partitions you have to flash for a complete system reinstall. Note: if you flash recovery, your twrp will be replaced by the stock recovery.
